Not sure why restaurants that have a great view don't feel they need to offer good food but this place, like its predecessor Sunset Cove continue to take the view for granted. The menu if very limited. So you would think the quality of the dishes would be excellent. 5 of us went for lunch. Between us we had the burger, and the chicken sandwich (both crispy and grilled versions). No gluten free roll or wrap is available. Why? I don't know. So one of us who couldn't have the roll asked for it to be grilled with no bacon as they don't eat red meat. It came with bacon. Next the burgers were requested as rare. The server informed us on medium is available as the patty is so thin you. Basically can't get rare. If you want to go enjoy the view, go for a drink then leave, stop at a good deli and order sandwiches at a fraction of the price. Won't be going back. read more

The chicken burrata sandwich was very plain with little flavor and the salmon BLT--the only thing we tasted was salmon, nothing else. We had mocktails, and for a mocktail mule it was served in a rocks glass with very little if not zero carbonation. Our waitress was quite inattentive and disappeared for most of the dinner. Under a large tent, with the breeze of the Hudson, even though the temperature was in the high 90s, it was actually, very comfortable. The food was a welcome surprise. I ordered the salmon BLT. WOW!!!! ultimate YUM! Service was gracious, efficient and always with a smile. Other guest at my table ordered steak tacos and grilled chicken burrata, which they described as delicious. Came here on a Friday afternoon to catch up with a friend. Off the bat from the outside it doesnt look like much. I was told that this location is just under new management. I wonder if that means this place will get better. We did not eat inside and it looked different then the outside area. Inside the servers take care f you. Outside we had to get up and bring our food to our table ourselves either from food truck or the bar inside. That day there was a live band playing so that was nice. So far I'm not a big fan of the food for the price and it being off a food truck. It is mostly overpriced fried food. I was expecting the place being a waterfront location at least have some fresh seafood items on the menu. Nope. Again, I hope it gets better considering its under new owner. All being said, it is still a fun place with fantastic views on the River. We ordered burgers and wings with beers and wine and enjoyed the view and the band. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked underwhelming, and it didn't look like other diners enjoyed the food nearly as much as the scenery. Being by the Hudson River on a summer evening is nice, but I'm not sure The Sailhouse is good for anything other than that. When you walk in there are plenty of tables and chairs and a nice big tent to keep you shaded. There is a Outside bar area where you order dinks and food, the Bartender was friendly and personable. You can't beat the view that is why I am giving it 5 STARS. I only ordered a beer, and sat on the deck overlooking the Hudson River and bridge. I cannot review the food because I did not eat here. However, I did read the reviews from others, and did check out the menu at the outside bar. To me the food and appetizer menu seemed too pricey, but the dink menu was fairly priced. All and all, the view is great and worth stopping in for a drink. One thing I am not sure if they sold bags of chips and pretzels at the bar. read more

If you Love food and good eats this is definitely NOT the place to come to, if you want a up close view of the Cuomo bridge and some drinks then sure. I lost 4hrs of my life here, arrived at 5 was told there no reservations no take out and that they were fully booked but there was a hour wait (half the restaurant was empty) so thats fine I was in no rush went to the bar outside had a few drinks enjoyed the view. after a hour and a half finally get the text to be seated and ordered a appetizer didnt take long for that to come out and as that came out the waiter took my order of the ribeye steak which i waited a hour and 40 minutes to receive since i ordered it and it was the most flavorless most disappointing steak ever. Came here on a Saturday at around 4:50pm, was told it was an hour and 15 minute wait (even though there were SO many empty tables) okay fine we sat outside had some drinks while we wait not a problem at all. Drinks from tiki bar were good. Got sat at our table at 6pm friendly server, quick with the appetizer. Fried calamari was just ok, had more fried red pepper and pickles ?? Than calamari. After that we wait for over an hour for our dinner!! Server was apologetic and kept saying the kitchen is backed up, but the host and what looked like a manger, is walking around and STILL sitting alllll the reservations and not one table is being served food! It was actually crazy to see all of this happen. All we were offered was comped drinks which was a glass of wine and a soda. FINALLY the food arrived and it was the biggest bite of disappointment I've ever had. Not even trying to be dramatic. After waiting soo long i wouldn't be so upset if the food was amazing it would have been worth it, but nope. It was the most tasteless food we've ever had. Steak was $47 and it had zero flavor, not even the mashed potatoes had flavor. We've had better tasting steak at that price or less at places you'd least expect. Rigatoni pasta was supposed to be spicy and it wasn't, chicken was so dry and bland. Didn't even finish our food, just wanted to get the f**k out of there. Took another 30 minutes for someone to show face again to finally pay the bill. I don't blame the waiter at all for this terrible experience, just a kid trying to handle a a position at a VERY disorganized restaurant with bad management and kitchen. I have never been in a restaurant that told me that they are not taking orders to go, or seating walkins, or reservations. "Our kitchen is backed up". Over half of the seats are empty. At this rate they might as well close the restaurant. Or the whole thing a fraud. They served our party a couple of rounds of soft drinks before this. The three of us include two women, one 83, one in her mid 40's, and a 12 year old boy. A quiet interlude, looking at the water, talking, and some refreshments. I had no idea this restaurant existed and came across it while looking for a waterfront restaurant on a nice spring evening. I am so glad I discovered it. We walked it on a Thursday evening. It was not busy, and all other diners were sitting inside. We asked to be seated outside, and the host was absolutely accommodating. He took us outside and let us take any table we wanted. He promptly took our drink orders and appeared with a complementary order of chips and guacamole within a few minutes. The guacamole was amazing!!! so fresh and no cilantro in sight, which I was very happy about. Sometimes, when you are the lone table outside, the staff tend to forget about you...not at the Sailhouse. Our waiter was prompt and attentive without ever rushing us. The drinks were fun, and the appetizers were amazing. You could tell everything was very fresh! We took our time ordering because we loved the view and the atmosphere so much. Everything was timed perfectly. The service was exceptional. At one point, they even turned on the music for us, even though we were the only table outside and we did not even ask for it. I made reservation for 4 people two weeks in advance and was told upon arrival that there was no seating for us because there was a catering indoor. We were asked to sit outside in a covered tent with a small heater. It was cold and windy today and we felt the cold air going through the openings of the tent. Not only we were seated outside, we have to wait for 45 minutes to get our appetizer and then another 30 minutes for the main entree. Our waiter was lovely and it wasn't her fault. We were so disappointed, sitting inside the tent, cold and hungry. We should have been notified that our table will be in an outside tent. We had such a wonderful time! Our server, Robert, was amazing. Everyone at our table agreed that he was so funny and helpful, truly a delight. The food was great, and Robert told us that they're even working on expanding the menu since they're still starting out. We sat right on the edge outside by the water. I highly recommend going around sunset - the views of the bridge and water were breathtaking. Everyone looked like they were working so hard and the table bussers were really on top of it. It started drizzling at the very end which we didn't mind at all, but the bussers were so quick! Everyone who wanted to was moved inside so efficiently. Overall a lovely experience! We recently had an event of about 100 people at The Sailhouse. Everything exceeded our expectations! From our first contact, Sean and his team put us at ease and were responsive and helpful. During the party everything was well organized and seamless. The Sailhouse team was friendly and took care of everything. Many people commented on how delicious the food was, especially the burgers. Several guests didn't realize what a hidden gem The Sailhouse is, right on the river with amazing views!
