She's done all-over color, highlights, keratin treatments, cuts, and style for me. She listens and takes time to understand the style or look I'm going for. She also shares her opinion and suggestions so that the color, cut, or style matches me personally. I have not been disappointed. One of the things I appreciate is that she is upfront about how much everything will cost. Before she starts working on my hair, she'll calculate and show me pricing for each service I do so there are no surprises. Booking appointments with her is easy, and she is flexible with scheduling. One of the perks of going to this salon is that you can earn JCP rewards from each visit, which you can redeem for products in-store on online. This review is for the Glendale Galleria store. The stylist "service" is bottom of the barrel and that includes the manager, Brigitte. You schedule an appointment a few days in advance and they always circle back to confirm you're coming. After you get there, it's a different story. After you arrive, if they have a bigger ticket service going on (you have a haircut, and a highlight or color comes in), they'll leave you sitting around indefinitely, at least an hour if you allow it, and then try to pass you off to someone else who's just standing around waiting to pick up their slack. they'll suggest you go shopping as if you've got all the time in the world and you're good to go with their complete lack of consideration for your as a client. It's actually laughable how sloppy and unprofessional the salon is run. The manager, Brigitte, is wildly insincere. One minute, it's all apologies for their behavior, the next, it's "this is how we roll." The two stylists that pulled this scenario with me in the past few months are Lili and Arivek. In addition, the store manager, Brett, is of the same caliber. He offers zero resolutions, they do the same thing to him and he's fine with it, and he'll try to make you feel wrong for calling them on their poor service. If you like making an appointment and then rolling the dice to see if they actually take you, unless you want to wait an hour or more, then go here. If you want professional service with people who act like adults and have class, find another spot. read more

Normally this review would be for my son & his stylist Vard, however I found myself desperately needing months of hair care for myself. I was in such desperation all my usual hair therapist where unavailable and even when I decided too venture out I wouldn't haven't been able to get seen till September. This was completely out of the norm for me, I was out of options, then I thought well if I get my son gets his haircut here & I convinced my mother too , what am I waiting for then?? I was scheduled for the next day with Alvart , we spoke on the, she kindly asked for pictures of what my hair currently looked like now and what I was aiming for. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, we went through everything and I even signed a hair contract and the agreed prices which personally was a first for me but also refreshing that there wouldn't be any costly surprises, the only surprise was that styling is actually an additional cost. $20 for hair straightening and I just believe that's the JcPenny' Salon Policy. I didn't want to leave a review especially a bad review. I made an appointment for my daughter a few weeks ago. I told the hair stylist Alvart that my daughter wanted a layered haircut with curtain bangs. I emphasized "curtain bangs" I even showed her a picture. Alvart did not give my daughter curtain bangs. Instead she did a lot of texturizing. I didn't realize what was happening because I was also getting a haircut. She did a poor job. She did whatever she wanted with my daughter's hair. I just didn't want to be rude to her. It was overpriced and the quality of work was not worth it. I will not return to this hair salon ever again. I do not recommend. The hairdresser was friendly but she was in a big rush. She offered to "style" my hair for additional $20 which is basically curling the hair with a flat iron and blow dried to really high heat. I have to admit, I was very hesitant to try a department store salon for a few reasons; 1. Sounds like a hassle to get in and out of, and 2. It sounds extra fancy and very EXPENSIVE! I took a referral from Brigitte, the very nice manager, who set up an appointment for me with Anahid, based on my request of someone knowledgeable of working with curly hair. Concern 1, getting in and out of the mall and locating the salon, was not as nearly complicated as I thought. The salon is located near a close exit and parking was not too bad. Anahid was very personable and I could tell immediately that she was experienced working with my texture of hair. She did an excellent job advising me of how and why she was cutting my hair and I am so happy with the finished result. Concern 2, I always cringe when it comes time to pay at a salon, because I feel like a victim of a stop and rob! I was pleased with the level of professionalism, in this very nice salon...all at a very reasonable price ($40 for a trim). I will be coming back for my next visit with Anahid in a few months for my next trim. Thank you both to Anahid and Brigitte for helping me find a new salon and stylist, which is not an easy feat! I had very damaged hair and I knew it was time for a good short haircut. Anahid took care of me the entire time and made me feel cared for! She answered the phone and agreed to see me within ten minutes of the phone call without an appointment! While there, she offered her genuine advice as to what a good treatment and cut would be for my poor hair and given that she has 20+ years of experience, I thought it would only be smart to trust her, so I did. I am very happy I did! I got the most gorgeous haircut as well as the Olaplex deep conditioning treatment. My favorite thing about her service was that she explained how long the treatment would last and how to make it last even longer. Another great aspect of my visit was how tight knit the hairdressers are with one another. You can easily tell they all love to do what they do and moreover that they are all friends. I was travelling to Glendale and knew that my mother had gone to this salon 4 years ago and had loved the experience. I was short on time and was visiting many people so it was a bit hectic but the person on the phone was very helpful with scheduling an color correction as well as a quick consultation before to get a price estimate. Maritza Elijah was quick to understand what I wanted from the picture, see that my hair was very damaged (though it was pretty obvious) and understand my concern about not wanting to cut too short so my face wasn't framed but also wanting a new cut. She told me how she was going to blend my layers etc and the cost for the cut, conditioning, gloss, color and bleach on a piece of paper for me. On the day of, I was anxious (I'm kinda a mess when it comes to hair appointments because I know they will be long and talking to someone through the whole color correction of 3 hours can be scary for an introvert like me) but I imagine she sensed that via my awkward silence. She still did all of my very thick hair - thinned out my choppy ends, every layer bleached and then certain placement for low lights - and she put conditioner on the blonde parts, before a toning and then doing a blowdry and flat iron styling. The whole appointment lasted about 4 hours and she was patient for most of the time - towards the last hour or so I loosened up a bit spoke a bit more - she went over the pricing again, and told me the usual of using blue shampoo etc - and to not bleach after this xD the color turned out more blonde than I expected is the only thing - luckily I ended up liking it by the end of my appointment - I would just say to make sure to be specific in what you want and speak up if you don't like the color etc - she was very kind and I think would have listened had I asked if there was a way to darken it up - but that could also apply to many hair stylists. read more
