If I could rate this an 11/10 I would and I don't say that lightly. I can't even begin to describe how incredible our experience at The Salted Pearl was--this place is an absolute MUST when you're in New Orleans! The highlight of the entire trip, without a doubt, was coming here and meeting Tiger, the owner, was the cherry on top. His warmth and kindness radiated from the moment we walked up. He's not just the chef, but a walking encyclopedia of all things food and Louisiana. It felt like we were chatting with an old friend who just happens to be incredible at his craft! We had the gumbo which was absolutely out of this world. The flavors were beautifully built and developed, the broth was rich and thick, and the fish was generous and incredibly fresh. We also tried the smoked tuna dip which was amazing and the care and respect for the fish was clear. The love that went into his food was clearly evident. From the four hours he spent laboring over his roux making sure it didnt burn, to the salt he made to adjust to the changing salinity of the oysters post Katrina, his expertise and passion for food and Louisiana cooking shined. You could really tell the dedication he's put into building this restaurant. His genuine care for the ingredients and the traditions of Louisiana shone through in every dish. If there is one restaurant you should come to in New Orleans it's here. If there is one person you should meet in New Orleans it's Tiger. I'll be counting the days until I come back--thank you Tiger!

Great oysters and shrimp cocktail and alligator sausage at reasonable prices. Impeccable service and attitude. Would definitely recommend!

I came back and the oysters were as big and as meaty as I'd remembered. Victoria was on point once again!

It was unassuming on the inside but the food was delicious. Their Rockefeller style oysters have crab meat atop. The seasoning was chefs kiss. I am seriously trying to like them. I didn't eat the Oyster just the seasoning and bread. I love the flavor profile. I got the Boudin Rolls and crab cake. It has great flavor but doesn't compare to the Boudin Balls I've previously had. I would say they're kid friendly. I liked the red beans and rice but everyone else didn't care for this batch. I also had shrimp which were seasoned well. Someone ordered the Philly poboy. She said the meat was seasoned exceptionally well. I loved the yummy bites. I can see why the lines were long. Delicious bites all around.

I got the fried peace maker po-boy and it was delicious! The fried shrimp and oyster wasn't greasy and tasted fresh. My sister got the New Orleans medley, which was okay. We preferred the gumbo, which was very flavorful. The jambalaya was a little dry for our preference and the rice and beans lacked flavor. My dad got the gator bites which were also really good! We also appreciated the options they had for vegetarians - my mom got the veggie burger and sweet potato fries and enjoyed both. She also had a shellfish allergy and they took great care regarding cross contamination.

The restaurant is beautiful, the service was warm and attentive, and every dish showcased just how incredible the seafood is. We started with the tuna crudo, which was incredibly fresh. We also shared the spicy ground shrimp over pasta, and it was unlike anything I've had before. Oddly enough, it reminded me of Cincinnati chili in the best possible way. rRch, comforting, and packed with flavor. For the main dish, we had the baked drum, which was cooked perfectly and served with stewed okra. The fish was outstanding, and the flavors throughout the dish were balanced and delicious. We also shared the grilled zucchini. It was a bit overcooked, which made it soft, but the flavor was still excellent. Overall, this was an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service, and memorable food. I would absolutely come back the next time I'm in New Orleans and highly recommend it.

As soon as they arrived, I picked one up and immediately thought, "Wow, this is incredibly light." Anyone who eats crabs regularly knows that's usually a bad sign. When I opened it, it was completely hollow inside--nothing but an empty shell. A crab that is hollow like that was dead before it was cooked. I never took a single bite. I showed it to our server, Remy B., who apologized and said she would let the manager know. She took the plate away, so I assumed the issue was being handled. When the bill arrived, I was still charged for the crabs. I asked to speak with a manager and explained exactly what happened. She confirmed that I had notified the server and that the plate had been taken away. Then she told me that it didn't matter because their policy is to not give refunds or remove food from a check. Let that sink in: they acknowledged that I didn't eat the food, acknowledged that the server removed it, and still charged me for it. A restaurant standing behind its food is the bare minimum. Charging customers for food that was clearly unacceptable and never eaten is ridiculous. The lack of concern from management was even more disappointing than the crab itself. The only reason this review isn't 1 star is because the young man at the host stand was friendly, professional, and the one bright spot of the entire experience.

My favorite thing we got was definitely the veggie red beans and rice. It was very balanced and cooked well. I was very excited to try their shrimp and grits, but it wasn't that great. The grits were quite grainy and didn't taste cheesy as described. They weren't creamy at all and really tasted like plain barely salted grits that could have been cooked a bit longer. The shrimp was flavorful and the sear on the outside was nice, but they were quite overcooked and tough. There was a much higher ratio of grits to shrimp and gravy than you would want, especially given the grits were not that good. However, my husband absolutely loved the chicken pasta and said it was one of the best he has ever had. They definitely can make good food but I would skip the shrimp and grits. The lemonade I ordered was also incredibly watery. The service was efficient and good overall, but very impersonal and bare minimum. Definitely efficiency prioritized over true dinner service. Not bad but not what I expected.

I ordered the shrimp po' boy, which was around $22, and was surprised it didn't come with fries. Usually places either include them or at least mention that they're separate when ordering. We also started with the charbroiled oysters, and whatever topping or seasoning was on them had this weird crunchy, crackling texture that literally felt like it was cracking against my teeth when I bit into it. I don't know if it was burnt cheese or what, but I personally could not eat more than one. The service also wasn't great during our visit. After our food was dropped off, our waiter never checked back in. I had ordered fries separately once I realized they didn't come with the sandwich, but after waiting about 10 minutes with no update, I finally got up and walked to the bar to cancel them because I was almost done eating at that point. Maybe we came at an off time, but overall it just wasn't the experience we were hoping for and probably not somewhere we'd return.
