I love this place. It's great, the food looks so good. I got the pork pressed burrito and the shrimp bowl when I came in and those were so good, very filling. I loved all the rich flavours and how the sauces on the bowl were. I loved the pork pressed burrito a lot and will be coming again. Don't even get me started on the shaved ice, it was delicious and huge, it has such good clean ingredients, highly recommend the pineapple with dole whip. The service was great as well, everyone was nice and greeted me with a nice welcoming smile. It was great talking to the staff and they were very friendly. Saw some good reviews on socials and customer photos so I thought I would try it out, and it certainly disappointed. My I got the shrimp bowl and the only part I really cared for was the shrimp itself and the rice, wasn't a fan of the pickled vegetable mix. While the shrimp was the part of the bowl I liked, I also wouldn't compare it to Hawaiian garlic shrimp because it definitely didn't taste anything like that. I also shared a the Mac salad with my mom and sister and again it didn't taste anything like any other Hawaiian Mac salad we have had. My view of the food probably was higher due to the fact that I was super hungry. Also big issue with the AI menu board that looks horrible. If I had seen that online because actually customer photos and video I probably wouldn't have even come. Not only for the fact that I don't like the usage of AI, but the images used didn't even look good. Overall from what I had it feels like the only thing Hawaiian about it is the vaguely Hawaiian themed design choices and menu item names, because the food didn't taste anything like Hawaiian food I've had before.now if you go in not viewing it as a Hawaiian food maybe you would like it, but for me it wasn't worth the price. read more

I was so excited to try this place because I always love to try new Hawaiian spots.... Or so I thought :-/ Unfortunately this was one of the most gentrified "Hawaiian" spots I've ever been to. Mind you my husband is Hawaiian by blood and born and raised on Oahu. I should have known something wasn't right when there wasn't even a can of Hawaiian sun for sale. Like how do you not even sell Hawaiian sun if you're selling Hawaiian style food?! Another thing that really made me dislike this place was the AI menus, it's really not hard to not use AI. It honestly is a huge turn off. Now to the food, my son ordered the Kalua pork bowl and it was extremely underwhelming. There was no smokiness to the pork at all and tbh there wasn't much flavor either. We also ordered two different shave ices, the one plus side is the ice had the consistency of many of the shave ice spots we go to on Oahu but the syrups didn't taste right. I've had real fruit syrups before at a spot in Long Beach and those were great, I went in thinking this would be the same. Unfortunately my Hawaiian Punch shave ice tasted more like Tang. I was excited for this place because of the proximity to us but it was a huge letdown. I think this is unfortunately what happens when people take on food genres that aren't a part of their culture. We came in for a very early dinner, a few things we noticed on the spot. 1) no air conditioning, hoping this isn't a forever thing because we were frying like an egg on a loco moco plate. There is seating inside but kinda tight, but they have tables outside as well. 2) They just opened up a few weeks ago, so gotta give them some grace too that things take time to figure out. Our wait to get our food wasn't too bad either. We ordered the loco moco for $19, it's got a black truffle gravy so def a twist, which my husband did like, full of flavor & and I had the Poke burrito for $17 3) What was hard for me to justify was paying $20 for a shave ice and that's because we added all the extras, lychee pearls, dole whip, & condensed milk foam. They don't pack the shave ice. But they do claim to use organic/no dyes in their shave ice so I see how you also pay for what you want to consume vs. all the ingredients you can't even name nowadays in our foods. Saw a featured IG post showcasing this new Hawaiian spot. I love Hawaiian food and was stoked to try a new spot close by. IG vs Reality fail. This just opened so maybe they need to work out the kinks, but I was very disappointed in our meals. The Shaved Ice could be better. Their weird foam that's supposed to taste like coconut had a strong taste. And not like coconut. Maybe it was accidentally macadamia or something. We didn't care for it at all. At least the ice was shaved Hawaiian style. The flavoring of the syrup was ok. Maybe we chose the wrong flavor, but it was their featured menu item. The kahlua pork pressed burrito didn't have much flavor. Loco Moco was decent. Gravy was alright. The flavoring was very Smokey. The musubi was trash. The spam wasn't cooked enough and tasted like it was straight out of the can. It also fell apart and not well made. The rice felt cold and unappetizing. We threw it away. I've made musubi at home better than this place. Stacks musubi is $5 this was $8!!!! We were overcharged for our drink. They have tehachpi sparkling soda. It was listed as 3.95 on the door and the cashier charged $5. Whatever we let it go. The sliced pineapple is weird don't recommend it- it's basically a pineapple flavored sparkling soda with a cinnamon aftertaste. The tables were so sticky. Probably from all the shaved ice syrup melted. They could do a better job of cleaning the table. I'm sure their rent and overhead is high which is why the prices are higher. However for these prices you expect better quality. We paid $60 for two meals, musubi and shaved ice. This place has potential, but not sure they hit the mark yet. read more

The Loco Moco patty was bland and the gravy especially the mushrooms inside it was so salty! So much so that you can't even put it in your mouth! For $21 I expected much more. The egg however was cooked perfectly, but that was the best thing on it. The Hawaiian Punch shaved ice did not come with anything else! This is a good new addition to SJC. We really enjoy food in Hawaii, and this place tries to capture that local vibe. For lunch, we tried the poke bowl (3.75/5 - decent bowl but small portion of ahi and it really does not come close to even trying to be a Hawaiian style poke bowl), Poke Burrito (4.25/5 - good flavor and I love that they grill the wrap before serving), Chicken Bowl with miso mustard glaze 2.75/5 - small amount of chicken and the flavor does not give Hawaiian feel). For dessert, we tried three Shave Ice: Hawaiian Punch (POG with a tart flavor - 4/5), Tiger's Blood (sweet but really good 4.25/5), and Pina Pina (good flavor especially with the Dole Whip - 4.25/5). Prices are higher and $6 for a can of Oli Pop is absolutely ridiculous especially when they just give you a small plastic Dixie cup for water - bring your own drink or take the food to go. Service was nice. I will definitely come back for the poke burrito and the shave ice. This place still needs a little work but it has promise. read more

Very happy to have this new Hawaiian style joint in South OC. I'd be happy if all they did was shave ice - a nice alternative to other cold treats for hot days. We had Tigers Blood, Lilikoi Lemonade and another style lemonade - all were very good. Not as fluffy as some of the well known spots in the islands, but still light and flavorful without being overly sweet. Shave ice portions are good size - we could have easily shared one. One thing missing was scoop of ice cream under the ice. That would have bumped it to 5 stars! The food we had was decent. The shrimp bowl was elevated with some siracha and Bachan (at home). The chicken bowl was good - but again, needs stronger flavor. The quesadilla was good on its own. Finally, the spam musubi was good. 3 1/2 stars - had it been still warm then probably 4 1/2. Overall, very good eats and we look forward to going back. If you plan to eat and have shave ice you may want to order the ice after you eat so it doesn't melt while you eat. Shave ice takes a little time to prepare so order and relax. If they start cranking them out at high speed I'm afraid they will start to get smaller and less quality. It reminds me of Pacific Pearl (which used to occupy this space and appears to be the same owner) coffee. It takes a long time to get a pour over cup - but well worth the wait! read more

I know Hawaiian food. This is not. Mushubi is one piece of fried Spam(The can is cut into 7 or 8 slices), in either teriyaki sauce or oyster sauce and laid on warm rice with a piece of fresh crispy seaweed around it... don't mess with that... That's tried and true and what people expect. If you want to be original, add extra toppings- avocado, egg omelette, furikake). We ordered the musubi with spam and one with crab... We threw them away after one bite. I had the shrimp bowl with six shrimp(they came with four and they gave us two more). I must say the shrimp was cooked perfectly and they would have been a 10 if they had just had salt. There was absolutely no flavor but they were beautifully cooked. The rice was fine but not warm and that chopped vegetable( kimchi???) was also flavorless and too large of a portion... I could've done without that.. the White Shrimp Truck serves rice with the shrimp covered in a delicious garlic, butter, scrumptious sauce... my daughter said her Poké bowl was OK, not great. And the chicken bowl....eh. Stick to tradition. You've got a good thing going here... Quality and heart.... You have a tough location that's isolated and no air-conditioning with flies. Come on you guys, at least put a split screen drape door on the front to keep out the flies and bees(?). And put in some tables, take out the couches. I ordered the north shore shrimp bowl, pork quesadilla, spam musubi, and poke burrito. Everything tasted okay except the poke burrito because they gave me a pork burrito by mistake. The line was kinda long so I didn't bother telling them. Limited seating inside with some outdoor seating as well. Parking lot is big so you won't have an issues finding parking. It was ok. We saw a reel about this new place and was excited, but upon arrival, it just seemed lacking, especially in customer service. The girl at the cashier didn't seem to know the menu well. I asked if there was salmon poke and the girl said yes, but I didn't see it. And she pointed to baked salmon, which told me she didn't know what salmon poke was. The bowls didn't seem worth the cost, so we opted for the shaved ice instead. Shaved ice was better than I expected, but also not something I'd go out of my way to again. Deeply disappointing. I ordered the spam musubi ($8) and it was almost entirely rice -- maybe 10% spam, if that. The spam itself wasn't cooked or fried properly, and the rice was drenched in a ginger sauce that didn't belong there at all. For $8, this was not close to a fair portion or a fair price. The surf and turf musubi was even worse. The shrimp tasted like it had just been defrosted -- cold, mushy, and completely flavorless. Beyond the food quality, this place markets itself around Hawaiian culture and cuisine, but the execution shows little understanding or respect for what makes musubi actually good. It felt more like a cash grab riding on the aesthetic than an authentic representation of the food. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for genuine, well-made musubi. My family and I absolutely love this place. We went first for the shave, ice pop-up. Once they started making the food, we started with the Kahlúa pork wrap, Poké bowl, and the shrimp truck shrimp bowl. We were happy with all of the flavors and they even made a little kids meal just chicken and rice for my little ones that are a little more picky. I'm a big fan of Shave Ice and always on the lookout for new spots that serve a good one. After coming across a post on Instagram, we decided to head to San Juan for a refreshing treat. Since I love tamarind, I knew I had to give it a try! We also ordered the Dole Whip, and it was incredibly delicious. It was a pleasant surprise to find they used natural flavors and real fruit instead of synthetic syrups. My brother enjoyed the food and said the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were both creative and tasty! The staff was friendly and very patient with my toddlers, which is always a big plus for us parents. Great job, everyone! read more

The shave ice was good, especially enjoyed the Pina pina. It took a long time for our food, much longer than it should for a chicken teriyaki bowl and a poke bowl. I found the poke to be extra fishy (like not great tuna), and the chicken was bland. I did not care for the carroty kimchee or whatever that was supposed to be in the bowls.
