I was anxious to try The Simple Greek after reading about it's opening in the paper. The concept is great but I feel it's poorly executed. The lamb is cut from the spit but not grilled afterwards, the tzatziki sauce is'nt as good as I've had. I can say they have fresh ingredients. Maybe it will get better after a while, they may need some time to settle in. I will give it another try after several months to see if it's any better. Oh, almost forgot I had the Baklava Cheesecake as well; I didn't enjoy that either. The 3 stars is primarily for their customer service, it was great! read more

The Greek fries were amazing. The gyro had a decent amount of meat, but it was cold and didn't taste hot off the spit.

Food is great, but service is outrageous. I don't know if they just don't hire enough people, but every time I come in here it seems they are understaffed...I see some of them in the back just hanging out, but they rarely contribute to getting people their food. If I order pickup and set a time for it to be picked up, I would hope that I would get my food within an understandable window to that time; however, sometimes I end up waiting over twenty minutes past my pickup time. I think I would be better off ordering it in the store or going to make it myself. That being said, the chicken is phenomenal. read more

The food here is great, if you like Greek food (which I do!!!). I like the pita with traditional meat. The tzatziki is good--not great--I keep meaning to try the garlic cream, too. The village salad is a Greek style tomatoes, cucumber and red onion melange. Quite tasty on my gyro. Serving size on the protein is generous, so the whole gyro is a bit oversized and messy. I tried the chicken, lemon and rice soup tonight. Really good. I'll say, though, that the service tonight (second visit) was ... unpleasant. There was a lovely young man who was sweet who helped my husband, but before I could order, a lady came over and told me (rudely) that she would be helping me and the guys behind me, even though we told her we weren't together. It was hard to tell which of us she was barking at and it made the experience less good overall. Management would be wise to work on the customer service skills. I get the need to be quick, but not at any cost. Had hubby not already paid, I would've just walked away. Interestingly enough, at the end of our meal, another customer asked us what we thought. After we agreed that the lady made it less than pleasant, she suggested another restaurant for us to visit instead. (Tonight has been her first visit.). :( read more

This is my second visit to this establishment and each visit left me thinking that this place is ok if you're in a hurry. The gyro meat was dry, I think that it had been sitting on the hot bar for a minute by the time we got in there. The fries were hot and delicious, but that's because they were cooked fresh. My final take is that if you are in a hurry go here and enjoy an ok meal, if not, stop in your local Greek restaurant and wait the 10 minutes for a fresh and superior meal. read more

Another Chesapeake gem. I am glad that these hipper/healthier restaurants are more and more prevalent in the Peake. Fresh food, great staff, and great service. I love the food but I had to wait until 1110 to be served when they were supposed to open at 11. I was the first customer. They were still getting things ready for the day. Very unprofessional. The girl in charge, manager lady, (glasses and wavy hair, heavier side) acted like she didn't care and wasn't trying to hurry. This place was exactly what greenbrier needed. They have so many options and variety of proteins and sides. They have an awesome rewards program where you get points and discounts and eventually a free side when you enter your number in. They'll occasionally text you with updates and deals and the meals are really affordable fresh and tasty. The pita bread is warm and soft and you can watch them make your food and pick and choose your options. The staff are super friendly and you'll occasionally catch the owner with an apron on which is awesome. There's plenty of space to sit inside and even an outdoor aRe with bar height seating. It's a great place for a quick lunch and you don't have to feel guilty because it's diet friendly! read more

Their food is absolutely delicious, and the restaurant is cute and clean. I have been there twice, and got a bowl both times. I'm so happy there is a local spot like this in Hampton Roads now. My only complaint is that both times I went the service is really slow, and seem distracted. The lady in front of me in line was in uniform, but didn't receive her discount-- staff just seems unengaged and takes longer than needed. read more

It's the Greek version of chipotle. You can get both hummus and tzatziki on your gyro. Makes for a delicious alternative to other fast food.

Cole's service was awesome; knowledgeable and patient when we were deciding how to order (first time). The quantity of the food is just as wonderful as the quantity you get! I wanted something different for dinner last night. I thought about what i hadn't had yet, since I've been in Virginia, and realized it was Greek food. I get on yelp and instantly came across this. After having it for the first time, I WILL be going back. It was delicious. The young lady behind the glass let me taste the difference in between the chicken gyro and the grilled chicken. I preferred the grilled chicken. I went on to finish out my bowl. I was also recommended to the Spanakopita and was thankful. The whole crew was friendly and engaging. A friend of mine got food from here one day and inspired me to try something new. I wasn't disappointed at all. Nice food, great staff. My girlfriend couldn't get over how helpful they were in explaining what everything was made of (cause I didn't know ), and even offering to have us taste it first before we made a decision. She's actually the reason I'm writing this (LOL) She loves trying new places so I got major brownie points tonight for this. We came in pretty late (which I hate doing cause I know how it is) but they didn't seem irritated at all. My girlfriend used the term "warm" to describe the experience. And I agree. Loved this place from the moment we walked in. It was clean and inviting. The presentation of food was also enticing. I chose the grilled chicken in a pita. As someone who does not like a lot of extras, I loved that we could customize our pita or bowl how we wanted it, including a variety of sauces. My husband got the chicken gyro meat and was just as impressed. The greek fries were yummy with the spices and feta, but the natural cut were just as fresh and delicious. I was super impressed that the man I assume is the manager asked us if we had ever been there when we went to check out. He then shook our hands and thanked us for coming in when we told him we had not. We will certainly be back and continue to recommend to our friends! read more

Excellent! I just noticed this new place yesterday when driving by and had to try it today. The person that waited on us was a little on the unprofessional side and seemed annoyed. It appeared she had a long day. I read something similar in another person's review, so this was probably the same employee. But other than that, the food was so tasty. Update: Customer service messaged me and is handling it appropriately. I will maybe try again if I am ever in the area. First off, this place has gone downhill fast.. customer service was a all time low. I walked in with my family, and was not greeted by any of the three male workers. There was a group of three women in front of us ordering food, and we were still in line for about 10 minutes. Not being greeted was an issue, but not as much as what we saw the employee doing. As we are sitting there in line, we are watching the employee that has no gloves on, wipe his nose and handle food! It was absolutely disgusting. Once we saw the unsanitary practice happening, we walked out of line and told the people behind us and they left as well. Wouldn't come back here ever again, if the owner is reading this... watch your cameras and correct your employee. read more

First visit today. Such a great experience. Met the owner Jason. He was very helpful to explain the business and food items. We had Avgolemono soup with rice in the bottom,Spanakopita and Grilled Chicken Pita. Everything was delicious. We topped our meal off with Rizogalo( rice pudding). Terrible service. i walked in, they didn't even say Anything. Then, I sat there trying to get their attention and they just ignored me. Finally, I say "excuse me" in a loud voice to make sure they heard me. the woman looked at me, and then went back to ignoring me. And no, they were not busy either. Trying newer restaurants in the area is something I've done for years with my friends. This one was one of the worst. Working for Greeks and eating their food is something I do daily and so trying this spot was a must ! It wasn't the best experience. The grape leaves for the dolmades were halfway unwrapped and I'm pretty sure they're out of a can. The potatoes were hard and didn't have much flavor. The gyro was also dried out and hard. I can say the chicken was fresh and tasty so I enjoyed that. If this was actually cooked by Greeks, that'd be an insult to their culture. Just saying! read more
