    Tuna melt with tomato soup
    Shana C.

Finally checked out the Slippery Deck, formerly King Tide now under new ownership! The service is outstanding! We even got to meet the cook and thank him for our delicious meals! Everything is fresh and made in house which is so wonderful to have in a small town. The first time we stopped in for breakfast and had biscuits & gravy, tsunami scramble, chicken fried steak and a bagel breakfast sandwich. It was all fantastic, very large portions! The next time we went for lunch and had a chili burger and a tuna melt with tomato basil soup. Again, fantastic! We've barely skimmed the surface of their amazing menus and can't wait to try everything!

Partially eaten grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Easy 5 star. The food and service was great. Homemade food, it's like my wife cooked it. I ordered the pot pie, probably the best chicken pot pie I have had. From the crust to the ingredients inside, it tasted homemade. Plus it came with a homemade roll that was outstanding. My wife ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup, which she said was very good. I highly recommend this place.

We came here for dinner and had a delicious steak with a twice baked potato. It was cooked perfectly. Jeremy made me his own concoction-The Sexy Deck! It's a layered cocktail which you can't get at many bars. Also...Karaoke!

The Good: The chicken pot pies are to die for but they sell out everyday so get in early if you want one! Chocolate cake is incredible! Bagels are perfect! The meatloaf was very good! Brocoli cooked to perfection...not mushy Delicious mashed potatoes Rice Crispy treats are yummy! Wheelchair accessible! The Bad: Lunch meat on sandwiches tastes like very poor quality which is unfortunate given that they serve them on delicious hommade bagels. The So-So: Service is never great, never terrible.

Ribeye special's This was on a Monday after 5p so not sure if they do this every Monday or other days.

Ribeye special's This was on a Monday after 5p so not sure if they do this every Monday or other days. But I have to say, this is absolutely amazing. Chef did awesome job. Customer service was amazing. I love mom & pop joint so come support the local businesses when you are out here in Westport I was told they have a set menu during lunch and breakfast but dinner changes all the time. Place is super cute to chill with friends. They have a beautiful bar inside and lots of fun games there.

Loaded Jambalaya, every bite had prawns, sausage and chicken. This is an almost finished bowl, seriously delicious!

The employee that took my call and gave me my pizza was a really, nice guy. Cauliflower crust is always a gamble but this was really good! The texture was great and it held up under the toppings. Overall I was glad I took a chance here. Once I got there I realized they had a large, nice outdoor seating area. I suspect I probably could have taken my dogs there and eaten the pizza outside. Next time!

I had the Pale ale very smooth and crisp and hubby had the Sunset ale which was bright and fruity. Food was decent, typical American. We had cheesy breadsticks which was basically a cheese pizza cut up into strips served with a side of cold marinara. Caesar salad was decent, it wasn't mixed, dressing & cheese just on top. Italian stack was good and what you would expect, not bad and not exceptional. Hot honey pepperoni pizza was a special. Thin chewy crust, thin layer of cheese & pepperoni. The hot honey was not spicy at all but the sweetness over the pepperoni was the star. Great spot for good beer, reliable American food, and to chill.

The real reason you come to the Mermaid is the bar in the back, which is as divey as they come and absolutely terrific. Want a special cocktail? Well too bad, they probably won't have the mixer that it calls for. But if you want simple drinks or just an out of the way place to have a beer and experience the true locals, this is your spot. Popular with the fisherman, and definitely get rowdy if you stay too late. But if you dig a dive bar you have to check out the Mermaid. Great jukebox, pool table, good outdoor seating area.

The best key lime pie I've ever had was in Key West. The best cherry pie I've ever had was in Traverse City. But, strangely enough, the best BBQ I've ever had was in a place called Victor, Idaho. And the best clam chowder I've ever had was not in Boston, but in the craziest hole in the wall bar in Westport, Washington State, where it seemed like 1983 as they literally played the Rebel Yell album by Billy Idol while we ate and some Rottweiler sat by our inside table begging for food. And that wasn't even the only dog running around inside the joint. My wife, early on, wanted to leave. I wanted to stay and see where this crazy train was headed. Me - 1, Her - 0.

Great service, food came pretty quick and very hot and fresh. Another part of Pitchwood I find endearing is their Wednesday open mic nights. However, when I finally got to go to one of them, I was rather disappointed. Don't go excepting anything but extremely basic Country, I'm too much of a music nerd to find much special in what's played there. If you come here with expectations on food high they will be reached, just don't come expecting unique music experiences.

Unfortunately, our visit just did not land. The bartender appeared to be doing double duty as server, and I understand what that can do to a shift. I spent about ten years working tables and other service jobs, so I have a lot of sympathy for being overworked. Still, the service felt more than rushed. It felt brusque enough that we did not feel especially welcome. The food was passable. Nothing terrible, but nothing that made us want to come back. The local beer was also a surprise, since it did not taste especially fresh. Maybe this was an off night. I hope so. There is clearly a good idea here, but our experience was a bit of a disappointment.
