Okay. This is a fun location, and I'm sure a great spot to get drinks, but the food was a toss up. One of my boss got the shrimp poboy-I did a mom tax and took a piece-it was good! I got the fish and chips, which to my shock I found that the fish wasn't cooked all the way through. It was still rather raw in the middle, and the breading was not good, a weird sweet taste? I didn't eat my food, seems like the island was out to get me with food poisoning! Went here for the 1st time, and I was not impressed. The food quality was okay, service could be better, and the ambiance could be improved. The seating was open and we sat outside. The table umbrellas need to be replaced and the wooden floors should be power washed (at least once). Overall, I did not like the open seating concept and the process of ordering food by forming a line like a "fast food" place. The setting was very chaotic with a LONG waiting time. Chick Fil A has a better concept of taking food orders with good customer service. Galveston has other restaurants to choose from and this was NOT one of them. read more

This place is adorable! There are like 4 bars in 1 place. Tiny little things that each had their own theme! Where we sat there was a fire pit! We are semi regular here and visited on a Saturday afternoon. Wait wasn't bad but as soon as we sat down, we had a waiter with an attitude. We asked if we could get an additional guac or salsa as a replacement for the queso in a trio appetizer and he said no. He also said we couldn't just get salsa. It was all or nothing. Then, he came back around and told us all to take off our sunglasses. Said it was a rule and that we had to or security would 'pay us a visit'. Mind you, it was 2pm and we all ordered water. Other people at other tables were wearing sunglasses and he said those weren't his tables so there was nothing he could do about it. He said it was the rule so that they would be able to tell if people were drunk... but we had water. We asked to talk to security. If you're thinking about a place to eat in Galveston, this definitely should be one of your top picks! They have an incredibly diverse menu full of fresh and flavor-filled options. Everything I tried from the chicken sandwiches, the seafood, and amazing desserts were exceptional! It is counter-top service but the staff is very attentive and friendly. Seating you get to choose. There is plenty of space and beautiful spots to view the beach. I will say that parking may prove to be an issue. We went during a less busy period and it was very tough to find a spot that didn't charge. This also seems to be a popular joint so I would advise going during the day or an evening that is slower. The Spot is as much about the quality of the ambiance, the beachy vibe with a great view of the Galveston seawall. The burgers are really tasty, but I didn't care for the thickness of the burger bun itself. The bun they were using when we visited was very thick and dense. At the end, I took the bottom off and finished it with a fork. The meat was flavorful, but just a bit overdone for my taste. My fault on that side ... I should have ordered it done medium. My home is literally walking distance from the crib and let me tell you, this is da cutest setup I have ever seen. To the right you have the tiki bar, which is more 21+ / adult type of environment with great patio and umbrella seating with views of the gulf. It was a sunny day and of course all the best seats in the house were taken. We sat toward the shade close to the umbrella seating but under the deck and let me tell you it was very chilly and at one point it got very cold. We tried the piña coladas in coconuts in a pitcher. The pitcher was deceiving because in the middle of it was an ice cylinder and not as much drink was in there as you thought. Regardless The price seemed pretty reasonable. The service was good and the food was also good but nothing out of the ordinary. We came again last night and got the spicy shrimp tacos, a garden burger, and of course a margarita on national Margarita day. The shrimp is good however I did not like that it came on acorn any flour tortilla which pretty much tasted store bought, the green burger was good pretty big size and it didn't come with waffle fries which were actually very good. We made our way to the dessert and the set up was just adorable we ordered a milkshake and a cheesecake bites and both were incredibly delicious I would highly recommend trying their dessert parlor for sure. This place is very touristy but I would definitely come back with my friends the prices are green and the atmosphere is Darling, and both family-friendly on one side and adult on the other, which is great. read more

If you come during "happy hour", naturally expecting happy hour, you need to order food on the "restaurant side" only, and then walk over to the the "bar side" to order drinks. The Spot does not honor happy hour on the restaurant side. They don't tell you this when you are ordering, they just charge full price. I also paid $25 for a $9 long, John silver plater. The food quality is about the same. The view of the ocean is fantastic. We eventually landed in the Tiki Bar that had the bar with the open air seating so that we could watch the beach line for our lunch we quickly had a waitress come up and take our drink orders as well as ask if we wanted any food and provide us some menus. I ordered a "Ralph Burger" with two sides of hydration (one hydrates way more than the other). To me nothing goes better with a good burger than a good beer.....Sorry I got side tracked. After placing your order you get one of the flashing "order ready" devices. First time going and it was pretty great. Everything I was looking for coming into Galveston. I wanted to enjoy a meal while looking out at the ocean. For first timers it is a little confusing because I was looking for the Rum Shack. There are connected and supposedly the "same place" but I'm still confused of the whole set up because I was looking for the frozen mojitos but that was on the other side and I wanted to sit on the second floor.
