You need to experience this restaurant if you're in Galveston, TX. It is split up between two different areas: one half is a full service bar (21+) with table service and the other half is family friendly that is self service. Pros: 1) The food is absolutely great! They serve burgers, seafood and other American items. Me and my family had a variety of items off the menu and were completely satisfied. 2) There is a desert bar that has just about everything under the sun. 3) Everything is reasonably priced which is hard to find on the island. Cons: 1) I was not a fan of their self service. After you order from the counter and find an open table, you have to listen to your name being called. I know the concept sounds easy but when the restaurant is packed to its maximum capacity and the sound system gets drowned out. So then it's a guessing game if your food is ready or not. So you have to walk up to the counter every 10 minutes hoping your food is ready or stand/hover around the counter with multiple customers waiting uncomfortably. This really put a damper on our evening! ** We did go during peak hours** Overall I would recommend this restaurant but plan accordingly because you will not have a good experience if you go during peak hours. read more

Oh, how sad that The Spot has gone downhill. We used to visit and loved every moment--the vibe, food, desserts were all great. This visit tonight was simply undeserving. We ordered the Seafood Platter. It's literally fried everything y'all, it's hard to mess up. Every item except the cornmeal fish filet was cold to the touch. The calamari was floppy like it had sat out too long. Fries were cold. Shrimp was cold. Shouldn't be serving your customers food that's been sitting under a lamp for more than. Few minutes-esp fried food. We can tell. Not a single team member spoke to us the entire time either. Somehow all the nearby tables got wait staff attention but we were dodged. Unsure why. We wanted something random and quick while walking the Seawall yesterday and my boyfriend has been here before and said it was pretty good. It's cool if you sit by the window and get to see the ocean! The food itself was fine, nothing spectacular or anything, just tasty and they had a good variety. I actually really liked the waffle fries, probably too much honestly. The inside is pretty basic and casual but it's definitely good for something quick or if you want a casual setting. I'd like to try this place and/or the bars connected to it on a weekend sometime but overall, it was a nice experience and I'd definitely come back regardless. It is quite busy around 5-5:30 though, so it's probably best to come earlier or later than that if you can. read more

Horrible service. Did not feel welcomed at all. We walked in (party of two) and asked a gentleman standing by the bar area if we can sit anywhere or does a host need to check us in or something. He then proceeded to say no just sit anywhere. So we found the only empty table in the bar area and and waited for a server to clean off the table. My partner did not want to wait to have a clean table, So he moved some dishes and stacked them together in a pile and wiped off the table (It was still semi dirty) our server for the night CLAUDIA (she never even mentioned what her name was, I only knew this because she was wearing her name tag) came and started to Remove dishes from the table. She Did not say hi, hello, how are you or anything. We ignored it and continued to look at the menu she then comes back and asks what we want to drink and not once the entire time we were at the restaurant did she smile or made us feel welcomed. HOWEVER the party next to us had great service with Claudia it sounded like. she was very apologetic when she forgot something for them, was super friendly, had this happy high-pitched voice with them and even said thank you when they finished their meal. Came here with a friend along with my dog, we didn't even make it all the way to the door when a worker stopped us saying that they dont allow animals on the property. I think it's ridiculous that they don't allow dogs on the patio, with this restaurant being on the beach. Apparently only "service" animals are allowed, but they don't even ask for proof. Literally just saw two families with their dogs walk in. A real shame to lose business that way. read more

The Spot is one of our favorite places to grab a burger. It is visited by locals and tourists alike. The lines can be very long but they move relatively quickly. Order at the counter and they will give you a buzzer/number. Go find a seat and they will buzz you when your food is ready. Don't have everyone leave your table at one time or you will definitely lose it. The Spot gets fairly crowded, especially during the summer months and year around on weekends. Some of the tables can accompany larger groups but obviously they are harder to get. They also have a second floor with an outdoor deck that overlooks Seawall Boulevard and the beach. Many times, you can find a table on the second floor in the back of the restaurant. There is no view and nothing spectacular about the room. However, it is a place to sit and eat that is more quiet. The restaurant itself can be very loud with the crowds. The atmosphere is extremely casual. If you're wearing a swimsuit, they do prefer that you have a cover on before you come into the restaurant. The burgers are very good. They have a wide variety of burgers with just about every imaginable topping that you want to put on it. If you want the typical lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayo, or ketchup, there is a condiment bar located in the center of the room where you can prepare your burger with the typical toppings that you may want. Other toppings such as mushrooms, bacon, jalapeños, specialty cheeses, as well as other more unique items should be ordered at the counter when you're placing your order. As far as side items go, we have a tendency to order fried pickles, fried mozzarella, or onion rings. If you're getting the impression that most of the side items are fried, you would be correct. However, if you are not eating here all of the time, your arteries will survive. The food is cooked only when ordered. It might take a while to get it. Remember the long line of people? Yeah? Well, they all get their food before you do so if you're in a huge hurry, this may not be the place to visit this time. Come when you're not in a rush. One thing to keep in mind is The Spot is a restaurant. It is not a bar. They WILL NOT sell you alcohol without ordering food. There are other venues on the same property that are 21+ that will. They are often crowded. Do not let the folks from those establishments scare you off from going to The Spot. You will often see custom motorcycles in front of these venues parked on Seawall Boulevard. The parking lot is often full as well. There is additional parking in the back along the street. Bottom line - A popular hang out in Galveston. This place can be very crowded during the summer months and year around on weekends.
