There is a missed opportunity here for the restaurant's management team. I decided to try this place after hearing that it was a fun place to eat pre-cruise. The location is perfect, and there is an ample amount of parking. The decor and aesthetics of the place are on point. The food was amazing! It was hot and cooked perfectly. However, the staff missed the mark on this day. It seemed like they could care less if we were there or not. They did not seem happy to be there at all. It was so odd that I asked one of the workers if they were the weekday staff? He said the weekend is a bit more lively ( I dined on Wednesday). I think this place would have a higher rating if the vibe and attitude of the crew were better. This place has so much potential. It's the food that's making me give this place one more chance. The food here is always top notch. We had the appetizer platters. The cheese sticks were huge but still delicious. Usually the larger cheesesticks tend to be not as good but not the case here. Came back for a weekend lunch and was thoroughly impressed with the food, service, and ambiance!! I think the spot has the best burgers hands down. The amount of toppings and sauces make these burgers really stand out from the rest; and they're also super huge!!! I got the Ralph burger, which was sooo delicious!! While in Galveston for Mardi Gras, our friends suggested we make our way to The Spot. We weren't sure what to expect as we walked up to give our order. It was a very busy place on this Saturday night, but we found a table for four and waited for our food. This place is right across from the seawall and offers great views of the gulf. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with waffle fries and was not disappointed. My husband ordered one of the burgers and said he thought it was quite tasty. I had high expectations for The Spot but was very disappointed. The Spot Sampler sounded great, but the fried pickles were way too salty, which was so disappointing because fried pickles are my fave. We were only given four onion rings and they were cold. The only thing the sampler had going for it were the mozzarella sticks. The Mai Tai was way too sweet and the Strawberry Mojito was too bitter. I liked the decor of The Spot and love that there is seating with a view of the Gulf. We had a somewhat large group and those that arrived first opted to sit upstairs in the back (away from the water). To be sure, it was lacking in ambience. I'm not a fan of walk-up ordering, but I can't subtract stars for it because it's just my preference. They do deliver the food to the table, but this process got a bit messy. Maybe it was because of the size of our group and the fact that we arrived in waves, but there were some folks that had to double check on their food. I ordered the Ahi Poke Tuna Tacos. The chips were good and the tacos were tasty, but not extraordinary. I did have an opportunity to taste one of the shakes and it was very good. For those visiting or coming for the first time, I recommend a seat outside. There's a lot on the menu; seems everyone can find something that appeals to them. After a long but nice day at the beach our group of 6 decided to come here. The buffalo sauce they used was weak in terms of heat & flavor. There was a piece of wing that was huge, unfortunately it was undercooked & had a gummy texture. The fries were over fried, hard & had a burnt aftertaste. The only thing that I enjoyed was their ranch, it didn't taste like hidden valley. I also got to try my friend sampler & I thought the shrimp kisses & onion rings were mid at best. Overall, it was an okay experience. The service was decent & the food came out fast. This place is more touristy than a causal restaurant/bar. You get to enjoy the view while enjoying their strong drinks but their food will leave you disappointed. Will I come back? We were celebrating our Valentine's Day as a couple my husband and I... we were able to order crawfish and the waiter dropped crawfish all over my dress/shoes... not only did he leave right after but when he came back he Only brought a rag after having me near tears. This was the first food recommendation we did not agree with. The first gentleman that assisted our party of 7 was great. He then told us to go to a lady to seat us, and she told us we needed to find someplace to sit on our own. My sister asked why he would send us to her if we were supposed to find seats on our own, and she replied that they do not guarantee seats and we needed to go look around for seating. Some of us went to see if we could find seats for our group and 2 went to look for the man who originally assisted us. Just as we were getting seats together, the 2 with the man came and said that he was going to seat us, but we thanked him and said that we were all set. We then realized that food was being brought out to tables and we didn't see any waiters. I saw a man cleaning tables and I told him that we were from Michigan and I asked if he could explain their system to us. We then found out that we needed to go and place our order to receive a tracker, and then we would place the tracker on our table so the food could be brought to us. The food came out fairly quickly. My sister and I decided to split the Seafood Platter, my dad ordered it as well, and so did my brother (3 total). My mom had Fish & Chips, my sister-in-law had a burger, and my nephew had Lemon Pepper Wings with mac and cheese. Those of us with the Seafood Platter were disappointed. It came with Shrimp kisses, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, beer-battered cod, tilapia filet, seasoned waffle fries, onion strings, hush puppies, honey-citrus slaw. The slaw looked liked dried cut up cabbage, and we did not taste honey-citrus or any other sauce. The hush puppy (and I love hush puppies!) was a big, greasy, fried too long ball of dough. Some of the shrimp was good, as well as the tilapia. The rest of our party liked their food except for the mac and cheese. My nephew didn't even want to try it, so me and his dad did and we agreed that it missed the mark. I gave 2 stars since some in our party liked their food, and also for the 2 gentlemen who were nice. When in Galveston, you got to go to The Spot! Such a great, casual restaurant overlooking the beach with both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a big menu with lots of options so everyone can find something they want! It's a family friendly restaurant and within the original location, they have a tiki bar and ice cream shop. It's a fun environment with really great service! The place is pretty big so even if there's a line because it's a popular spot (called THE Spot after all), I'd say it's worth the wait. The service was fantastic The next night totally opposite experience. We had the calamari with red peppers and the fried pickles. The pickles were over battered and the wife had a cup of peeled batter discarded on the plate. The calamari had to have been frozen in 1998 and was absolutely horrible.
