They have some decent beers on tap and it's really busy but the menu is mostly sandwiches and burgers. I ordered a Rueben based on the servers recommendation and ordered an appetizer of garlic fries. So good! And despite what yelp says there indeed is outdoor seating and dogs are allowed! There are some carnivorous wasps that swarm when your food is brought out, but if you put a decoy on an empty adjacent table, it helps. We had two big ass hop noshes for so cheap! I just want to start off with saying the staff here is incredible!! The bartenders and servers and hostesses are kind and fast and take wonderful care of the customers. As far as the food is say 80% of the time it's Devine and my food is delicious. Restaurant should be called "Pour Management". My family of 4 dined here on Wednesday Oct 18th. About 5 minutes after ordering our food and beer the power went out. Our server came over and told us the kitchen was still functioning but if we didn't want to stay, she could cancel the order. Our beers were full and we were hungry so we decided to stay. There was no mention of any other issues at the point. Our food came out pretty fast but in to go boxes. Our server informed us that "she" said it was a safety hazard for us to be there and we had to take our food home and eat it. Our server only referred to the person in charge as she, but I assumed this was a manager or owner. Our server was very nice and did her best to accommodate us with the incredibly poor management decision. Our server told us it would take a while to manually add up the checks for all the tables and we had some time to eat while we were waiting for the check. It took our server about 15 minutes to get the check to us and we actually had time to eat our food out of the to go boxes at the table. Despite this, I felt that the management that evening tried to take advantage of us. The management was concerned more about getting our money than doing the right thing. The management tried to force us to take $100 worth of ordered food home with no apology, discount, or choice in the matter. The type of person that would make this decision has no business being in the restaurant business. I understand that things happen that are out of the restaurants control, BUT, the restaurant had the power to give us the choice if we wanted to take the food to go . Trying to force this on us is inexcusable. I'll never enter this restaurant again. They appreciate your money and care less about customer service. With management like this, I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business. read more

We were excited to go here based off of their menu and pictures of dishes. Overall, I was disappointed. The service was just okay, along with the food. The stools we sat on were very uncomfortable (especially noticeable when waiting for the server for extended periods of time). No one in our group were people of noteable size, I can't imagine these to be comftable if you are a larger person. Ask for an actual chair seat. Among our group of 5, we ordered the brussel sprout & tater tot appetizers. The brussel sprout dish was AWESOME. The tater tots weren't as elevated as they sound on the menu, it's a tater tot with seasoning. When the waitress arrived to take our order, my husband was munching on a taut and we heard a loud crunch. Apparently there was a small rock in his tater tot which he broke in half with his tooth. Awkward moment and fortunately it did not break his tooth. The waitress did the right thing and comped our app without having to ask. However, she waited until she brought out our check to let us know they did that. I ordered a cheeseburger, it was good but forgettable. My husband ordered a salami sandwich special and was a little disappointed. Our friends ordered the grilled cheese, she said it was tasty and it looked delicious. Someone else ordered the turkey reuben, he ate at all but didn't say if it was really good or not. I really like the shoestring fries that came with the sides, but some people didn't care for them. In general I think the unique take and Seasonings they are trying to put in their dishes is a great concept, but the execution fell short. Could use a little more flavor it was a little on the plane side for having all of those fancy twists. read more

Great restaurant in a remote area! Service was excellent. The steak frites with the chimichurri sauce was very good. The Brussels sprouts with bacon we're excellent. The Standard Pour is definitely an "all-season" favorite. Burgers are great, cooked to order and generous. Order the sweet potato fries! Extra good with mayo mixed with snake venom (hot sauce)! There's always a unique special or two (my husband liked the arugula salad with half a game hen.) Large selection of craft beers on draft, but l'm a fan of the Indigeny Blackberry cider. Good wine options, too, and prices are reasonable. During warmer weather, bring your dog and enjoy eating out on the covered porch. Service is friendly, but inconsistent. I can't imagine there's a better place to eat in Tuolumne county. The garlic fries are - without a doubt - the most garlic'ey thing I've had in my life, eclipsing Safeco Field's legendary gralic-fries for that title. The mac & cheese is worth the inevitable triple-bypass. The beer-battered onion-rings are something like the platonic ideal of onion rings. My spicy Indian eggplant sandwich was a bit spicy for my tastes - but that's a me problem, not a restaurant problem. I mean, it says "spicy" right there in the name. And the flavors were excellent. My wife's peanut-sesame noodle salad was excellent. And once our 2-year-old had finished with his macaroni, his parents happily ate the remaining 3/4ths. I thought it was silly that so many other reviews started out commenting on the service - but it really was outstanding. If you're anywhere close to the Standard Pour - you owe it to yourself to come here. read more

Spending the night in Sonora with my dear husband. Looking for a place to eat. The Standard Pour is close & rated well so we choose it over The Bourbon Barrel where we have been before. This neat restaurant in a really cool old building that used to be offices for a mill. However, you have to find it! GPS sends you to the wrong location, although you can figure it out- if you see the dimly lit sign that is impossible to read in the dark! If not, the inside is well lit so it draws your eye. Large open parking lot, no trouble there. Then we get in, and that really cool building is an echo factory thanks to the super high ceilings, old wooden floors and the complete lack of sound buffer. But it's cool looking. And drafty. And busy. With no real place to wait other than two small benches and kids literally running back & forth in the entry. Now Let's move on to the bar. Likely my own fault for not checking, but, beer & wine only!!! And not a Moscato in sight!!! Now, the food. Limited menu with sandwiches, burgers & salad. That's ok. We order the fried Brussel sprouts to start. They're just ok. Cooked well, but drenched in butter with very little seasoning. And then we wait- 10 min- waitress comes over to tell us it shouldn't be much longer... She's attentive, and friendly, and my- not martini- glass is never empty. 20 minutes later, our attentive, friendly & apologetic waitress offers us drinks on the house. Good service recovery! Thanks Shelby! The food arrives 25 min after the appetizer. The fresh garlic on the crispy garlic fries really packs a punch but the bacon cheeseburger is blah. The ingredients are fresh, but It's basically the same burger you can get at any Habit Grill. Overall impression. Loud, overpriced, and just ok food. Good customer service by our waitress. I was so excited to hear Eric Davis and crew were opening this place up. We love the Diamondback and could not wait to try it out. Our first visit was a big disappointment. I waited a few months for our next visit before writing this review. What can I say this is no Diamondback Grill! The only thing killer about the garlic bread is the price, in fact I find most of the 9 different menu items I have tried to be mediocre at best. Kithcen sent out my burger on my last trip with a stale cold bun and we were only 1 of 5 tables in the place. To be honest this reminds me of the Blue Collar. I did speak with Mark on our last trip and hope that Eric can tune this place into the winner that the DBG is. I must say I was disappointed that Eric did not come talk to us since we dine is his places 6 to 10 times a month. Best of luck to Standard Pour but I won't be back unless confident something has changed. read more

As a HUGE fan of the Diamondback Grill, I had to try this place out. It's a bit out in the middle of nowhere, even for Sonora (or Standard), and is really the only place in the area, but a good location if the economy recovers and the rest of Standard fills out a bit more. I went on a Tuesday evening, and the crowd was at about 25% capacity in the early evening. The setting is basic, but nice. There is a large entry area, with several tables throughout the restaurant, and a decent-sized bar area. The design is simple, but I would imagine it will fill out as the restaurant progresses, similar to how the Diamondback was back before it moved to the larger location across the street from where it is now. The bar has several flat screen televisions with sports showing, which is perfect for any bar setting. The menu is simple, which is also good for an upstart place that is basically surviving and possibly growing thanks to the reputation of it's sister establishment and word-of-mouth. The menu consists of bar food with a much higher complexity than one would normally think. Some choices are similar or taken from items on the Diamondback menu, but all are very original and detailed. The prices are a bit high (which is somewhat normal for a new establishment), and I hope they come down a few dollars as the restaurant progresses, as it could possibly scare off the casual diner. I believe the range even for appetizers starts at $6 and the menu goes up to about $20 for select entrees and specials. Their twist on Mac 'n cheese is nice, but for $9 seems a bit high for an appetizer-sized pasta dish. I had the Satay Beef with Thai peanut sauce, which was $8, again it was delicious, but a bit high for five small chicken skewers. I would imagine these prices could be subject to change in the future, but maybe not. Even if they were $1-$2 less it would seem easier to swallow (no pun intended). While the beer and wine list is fairly extensive, this is another area where the prices are on the high side. $7-$10 for a 20 oz beer or a glass of wine is a bit much, and is also another area where even a $1-$2 reduction would make someone a lot more likely to order a drink in the first place, or even order another one. For now, I would definitely stick to going to the Diamondback Grill, but with a few tweaks, I could see making repeat trips back to this place. But it's a very good start for a new business in a community that seems to be losing so many, or where a good place to eat tends to be few and far between. read more

To be fair, I have eaten here at least 5-6 times since it has opened. Each time hoping I would be impressed. Each time I was disappointed. The building has so much potential! I wish they would stay open later and have more late night bands/entertainment because the old bank set-up is awesome and I do appreciate the beer selection. That being said, the food it underwhelming at best. Each time I have tried something else, salads to ramen specials to salmon burgers to grilled cheese and sandwiches. As I ate it, I realized I could have made the same dish much better with much more flavor and fresh ingredients myself at home. The last straw was when they served my husband a sandwich with bread that had to be 5 days old it was so hard. Good food starts with fresh ingredients and after that we will not be back. read more

I just had to write to give this place some current love. I'm in Sonora every three months and find dinner options extremely lacking on the outskirts of town. I went by tonight and found myself in the bar with excellent service and friendly local company. I worked on my laptop with free wireless connection and ate a fabulous meal. Chicken burger minus onions add mushrooms. Sweet potato fries and a Caesar Salad. All of it full of flavor and fresh. Yes - the most impressed I've been in two years of trying to eat in this town. From the valley where we have way more options and I appreciated the cute ambiance and good easy food. I will never go anywhere else and they have created one loyal fan tonight. read more

We had great appetizers: $2 tacos (hey, it was Tuesday!) They were pulled pork and very tasty. We also had the bacon hush puppies with maple cream. Very good. I LOVE this place! It's my go-to when my husband and I are trying to figure out where to eat. I always order the standard grilled cheese, and it is SO good. With pesto and bacon, you just can't go wrong. My husband always has the Kobe beef sliders, and they're to die for! I love the siracha mayo. Delicious. Crazy beer selection, super nice staff, quick service, what more could you ask for? The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because I really wish they would utilize the space the have for live entertainment. Terrific place with very good fare and great beers. Our service was 1st rate and friendly. We only had lunch but really loved the Spicy Eggplant sandwich and the Diestel Smoked Turkey Rueben - you couldn't go wrong with either choice. If you are watching sports there are plenty of TVs though you should not expect to hear the announcers over the drone of this working restaurant. Wish I could give it a zero! Where to start??? Slow service - took 45 minutes for food to come out after ordering. Once food arrived the chicken sandwich was cooked down to cardboard! Zero flavor on what is suppose to be a marinated chicken breast sandwich. Hated to do it, but sent it back and waited again! Second one came out and was same as the first - except now it was chewy, flavorless, cardboard chicken (crappy frozen chicken breast)! Sad as this will be our first and LAST time coming here! Love this place! It's a little more inland Sonora than downtown, but well worth it. Love the cod burger though not a fan of the spicy sauce they've begun adding too it. My husband always orders a special. Be sure to check their specials board when you walk in. Never know what they might have. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tuolumne County. The historic ambiance mixed with on trend design is perfect. Always a great variety of beer on tap. The food is great with something on the menu to suit a wide variety of tastes. One of my favorites is the chicken tacos. The tots are amazing, too (asked for them 'boyfriend style')! Finally found some amazing food in the Sonora area !!! I had salmon pesto and it was perfectly cooked. My husband had a burger and he commented it was the best bun on a burger he had ever had. Staff was wonderful as well !! Highly reccomend standard pour. read more

The Standard Pour hit the mark in a variety of ways. Love the ambiance. Wide open and spacious. Beautiful hardwood floors, Great bar. Good beer selection. They only serve beer and wine and that's okay by me. Loved the minimal decor -- clean and simple but classic in its own way housed in the old Standard Lumber Co building. Staff was incredibly friendly. Helpful with recommendations of what to drink and eat -- well informed. We were a party of 10 holding a business meeting in private dining area. On a Saturday night the place was full -- a kid-friendly too. Anyway, our server -- Amanda -- was right on target. We ordered everything from that night's special pulled-pork sandwich and grilled salmon with polenta to Standard burger, steaks, and Diestel turkey sandwich. Also orders of garlic fries did not disappoint -- plenty of garlic. A round of desserts including cherry tart with vanilla ice cream, dense chocolate cake and...well, I'm too full to think. Portions are enormous. You might want to share. Prices very reasonable. Check out the herb garden out back. Yes, I would most definitely eat here again. In the heart of Tuolumne County and the gateway to Yosemite National Park. What more do you need to know? read more
