Checked out the Starving Artist last night and loved it! Such a cool vibe inside and a chill place to hang with friends, coworkers or a date destination. What's not to like? Mac Miller playing in the background, pool tables, darts mixed with comfy couches and the low-light brings a unique ambiance that ties it all together. The highlight of the experience was the Dill Pickle Pizza!!! Effing looooved it!! It was amazing! We also got the Pretzel which was great. This place was busy for a Wednesday night! Very eclectic vibe inside. Funny paintings, interesting light fixtures, fun things to do. Seating is a bit cozy if you have a party of 5, but worked. There are two pool tables and darts. Lots of places to take fun pictures for social media. Cocktails were creative and excellent. Food was interesting. Pizza was hit or miss, but glad you could buy by the slice. Hit or miss because if it was fresh, it was pretty good but if it had been sitting, you could tell. The pretzel was amazing, but the mustard dipping sauce was hard to dip. You had to spread it on with a utensil which defeats the whole dipping purpose. The pazooki isn't worth getting. Very boring and not enough ice cream. Their specials are also neat, but they ran out of some. Overall, we had a fun time, but we probably will not go again. read more

The prices are excellent for the quality of the food and they offer a ton of drink options for all types of tastes including different beers and lagers. They have tables, booths, and a bar seating area, and they offer some fun group activities like retro video games, darts, and pool tables. Our servers were friendly and attentive and the vibe felt cozy. The decoration is fun and eclectic with reimagined takes on classic artwork giving them a "Banksy" style that has a gothic and street art vibe. There's tons of things to see and very fun. Waiter spilled an entire tray of shots on us. Accidents happen, we were nice about it, but my husband was soaked and uncomfortable the rest of the night. When the check came, not a single drink was comped. Was really excited to check this place out! I was a bit disappointed by a few things though: 1. To get a drink at the bar, you have to stand in a very tight awkward line to get your order taken. Would recommend a different part of the bar for orders to be taken. 2. Pool table had terrible sticks with zero tips to the point where they were going inward. 3. The darts were all mostly broken and the dart boards were so used that you couldn't get the bullseye no matter how hard you tried. These are such simple but effective changes that can make this bar much better. Had high hopes but will probably check out another place for these amenities! read more

An OHSO concept cocktail bar! I loved the eclectic decor and moody lighting, and dive bar features with a pool table, and retro games. My girlfriends and I ordered a few plates to share-- the loaded baked potato dip, hummus + nouns, and the Chinese salad (chicken added). Everything was good and decent portion sizes for the price point. Another yelper that I follow that goes to cool AF places wrote a review for this place, so I bookmarked it to give it a try. Last night, I came in here with a friend for HH, and we loved this place! HH starts at 3 pm, and this place gets pretty packed even by 4:30pm, wowsers! I was able to snag two seats at the bar, but if you show up later, there won't be any more seats. Bar is square shaped and very inviting, and the bartenders are nice and helpful! Decor is really cool in here with lots of red themed lighting, big hanging lights shaped like red flowers is what it reminds me of. Cool art on the wall with creative twists on famous paintings like the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. HH specials are great with $3 pizza slices, $8 cocktails and small plates and $3 beers. Pizza was legit, I'm from NYC, so the bar is a little bit higher for me, but this pizza slice hit the spot. My friend got the Olympus salad and said it was great! The Mexican Pankiller ($8) was delicious and my Franciskaner beer solid as per usual. My only gripe about this place is the parking, but you can find parking on the street once their lot is full. I'm a huge soft pretzel girlie and this was one of my favorites in Phoenix. My husband had the pepperoni pizza and I had the bahn mi with a side salad. He tried a couple beers on tap, and I had a Sparkling Saturn and the Gardener cocktail. On a second trip, I enjoyed the stone fruit sandwich. Everything was really good, especially the sandwiches and the cocktails. I loved how many options they had, including for gluten free people. This is a great date spot with great service. Parking was convenient; although their lot is small, there's more space on the side street. They had team style service for those sitting at tables, and everyone was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to come back and try new things! This is a great new choice for so many things - happy hour, dinner, small groups, dates, solo time... a solid new option to replace Helton! And you cannot tell other than the exterior and lack of parking that it used to be Helton Brewing. I've met up with two separate friends a few weeks after they opened for a late night session of girl talk and a few cocktails. This OHSO concept has a goal to be an upper scale neighborhood dive spot that won't break your bank. Cocktails are no more than $15 but can get a very good deal on them during happy hour (also a god number of HH food options). And lots of non-fancy drinks are available too. I've tried The Painkiller and Sparkling Saturn, both solid choices and recommended by staff there. Food - the pizza is GOOD. Like... nothing fancy but does the job and doesn't taste cheap. Can't put my finger on what it is. If you want to get a shareable, Chilled Roasted Zucchini or the dips are good. Came here for a witches night out on Halloween, and the ambiance did not disappoint. We were greeted by super friendly staff. Grabbed two bar seats and oh my those are comfy ass seats. Started with a cocktail each. I had the Maple Old Fashion and my bestie had The Basic Witch which was a Halloween special and delicious, a pumpkiny savory and slightly sweet sip had me wanting more. The Maple Old Fashion was a good twist on a traditional Old Fashion. Not to sweet which I appreciated, and that slight linger of maple was lovely on the palate. Ordered the Elote and a Dill Pickle Pizza slice and we were both LoVING the Dill pickle and commenting out loud... a big hats off to the creator of this delicious pizza. As we looked up, we saw these awesome womens old fashion pouf skirts as lights, and we each picked out which one we would wear. We ended with the Sparkling Saturn and a Painkiller cocktail for our witches evening out. Both of which were strong and flavorful. I love a stiff traditional painkiller and have been craving one for weeks, and it hit the spot. There is a cool outdoor Billiards room for you pool players. One of my favorite bars in Phoenix. The cocktails are some of the best creative, and classic, ones I've had. The late night deal on their excellent negronis (some of the best I've ever had, anywhere) is killer, especially with a slice of pepperoni. Can't say enough about the staff, they're always happy to help and give you suggestions, or to BS with you while sitting at the bar. They give the place a great vibe, and it just feels like the type of bar other industry people go to when they're not on shift. The food here is also great, pretty good NY-ish-style pizza in classic and not so classic varieties (I'll pass on the dill pickle pizza but to each their own) including create new pizzas of the month; the appetizers and small plates are great as well, and they're happy to get you some snazzy non-alcoholic drinks as well. Decent beer selection from OHSO, but I'm typically not going for that here (and yeah part of that is I'm not the biggest fan of OHSO's high-volume stuff). I like the fun, funky decor as well, some of it is a little eye-roll inducing but the big red lamp shades are a beautiful touch. read more
