Classy and cozy bar that feels very welcoming. It almost has a vintage vibe to the place. The bartenders are so friendly and conversational and helped us decide what to get. Cute place!

I invited some friends to The Apothecary, this past Saturday night. Unfortunately, "Midnight Oil" winds down at about midnight. I asked the bartender if they could recommend a bar nearby that was open until 2am. They recommended The Stave. As we walked The Prominade (the stretch between E 3rd St and 1st St), The Stave was only one of two bars open; and it was the most lively. The doorman was easy. Ordering at the bar was so nondescript, it's almost not worth commenting on. We had draft beers; the pricing was in range for an establishment of this sort. The interior decor was nice; and there was an outdoor patio, for good weather. On this night, there was a food stand offering tacos and bacon wrapped hotdogs. My primary observation of value is that I am surprised how there are few late night establishments in the vicinity of The Prominade. If you are looking for someplace with a little bit of energy, this might be it.

Cool pub in downtown Long Beach. We came here on a Thursday night. It was crowded, but we still got seats at the bar. I started with the espresso martini, which was OK. I had wine after that. The bartender was nice. There is cool outdoor seating with little fire pits.

Thank you, Randall, for the great service and the fantastically dirty martinis! I asked for all of the extra bits and pieces, and he delivered with extra olives AND cocktail onions. Stave is a beautiful bar located on the Promenade with a great, dark ambience. They have a large selection of drinks, so there'll definitely be something for everybody. As with every other spot on the Promenade, a nearby parking structure is available, where there is two hours of free parking. No validation needed! An industry discount is available, FYI!

Nice open bar but disappointed with service. Bartender definitely caters to locals and not worth staying for another drink. Would not recommend.

The bar is nice. We did a bar crawl that this bar was part of on new years and we got a new years shot from them. The drinks were strong but not too overpowering. There were a few bartenders around so we didn't wait long before we got served. A good amount of seating too, some outside and a lot inside. If you are in the area highly recommend

Looking for a late night "nite cap", we found The Stave Bar on the Long Beach Promenade. It is a large place with a nice patio space, as well. They specialize in whiskey craft cocktails....but can make most any drink you prefer. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. There are lots of windows and a beautiful wood bar and backbar. It's has a very nice atmosphere. If you are visiting downtown, this is an excellent choice for a delicious beverage.

I love the Stave, it's like your elevated neighborhood bar that offers a wide variety of whiskey and scotch. With an integrated indoor/outdoor concept you really feel apart of the city. Bartenders are very friendly and not to mention they make the best Sidecar in downtown LB.

Update: Revisited the Stave. holiday drink menu, great selection of drinks. Their old fashioneds are made well. Good music selection. Good vibes . Outdoor seating with fire pit. I'm liking this place more than when I first tried it. Worth frequenting more often they have merch too. As far as food is concerned, they have a partnership with Michael's Pizzeria and Poke Pub for food on their menus. Great Downtown location. Their is multi level parking structure nearby.

And since we first walked through the doors, we were in love. In love with the atmosphere, the perfectly pulled pints, the food (Dear God the Corned Beef Sandwich is a religious experience! ) and the characters of the staff. We've spent many occasions and life's moments here as well, From birthday dinners to at one time making it out Sunday Supper place to catch a traditional set and our dinner. The Sunday musicians are so good back in 2012 we hired a few to play at our engagement party, and brought a bit of the Auld Dub into our home. Today was no different, popped In for a family birthday celebration and stayed for a Sunday set. The music was fabulous the food amazing and the staff excellent! Ordered the usual: Curry Chips (cooked extra Well Done), and the best corned beef sandwich this side of the Atlantic! It's served perfectly on a crunchy swirled rye bread with an amazing apple jam of apples and caramelized onions. Just excellent! We also ordered an Irish Full Breakfast, which my soul craves every now and then! Basically you can't go wrong eating here.

Mid week when we arrived which wasn't too crazy. There was no one on the patio which was nice as it gave us first choice for a seat...lol... Everyone was seating inside. The place itself isn't that big. You have the bar area with some bar seating. Then there's a couple of tables inside and of course the patio which is along the sidewalk. Personally I prefer sitting outside for the people watching. The staff were all amazing and very friendly. Places like that make the experiences more enjoyable. You want someone who is friendly and respectful. As we were there early, we grabbed one of the beer which they have quite a good selection on tap. There's also wine if you're not into beer. When it came time to grab some food, we were able to get a table inside. Majority of the breweries tends to serve pretty much the same things, pizza sandwiches and salads. No complaints here. Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. Pretzel was tasty and outdid the queso dip. Pizzas of course which were pretty big in sizes. A couple of the pizzas and a salad did four of us with leftovers. Their Hawaiian pizza was quite tasty and was finished. We also ordered one of the mushroom pizzas with an egg. It was tasty but a little on the salty side. The arugula salad was delicious. Simple but tasty. And then there was ham pizza I believe with onions and peppercini. That was also a favorite of the night. Overall, the place was quite fun. Not a big brewery and more intimate. The crowd was great and as most places are very kid and family friendly. There was couple of kids when we arrived. Service was great. Food and drinks were enjoyed and the service and staff were excellent. Street parking available along the front but also along the neighborhood.

THE BLIND DONKEY IS NOT SAFE FOR TRANS PEOPLE…read more Last night (6/28) between 10-11pm, my trans boyfriend was followed into the men's bathroom by a security guard who started aggressively yelling at them for using the "wrong" bathroom. The security guard asked extremely inappropriate questions like "aren't you a lady?" and "what bathroom do you usually use?". Anytime my boyfriend responded, he yelled more and threatened to kick him out. This was a deeply upsetting situation. We were there for a friend's birthday and we left immediately after the incident. We definitely will NOT be returning to the Blind Donkey. We also suggest our queer and trans friends and community avoid this place too!
