My husband and I drove from Indianapolis to try Stellar Hog, mainly due to I do not eat pork and really wanted some beef ribs. I had the beef ribs with creamy cabbage and fries. The beef rib was HUGE, nice flavor BUT it came out cold. The creamy cabbage was delicious, I wish it was warmer than it was. The only thing that seemed to be freshly made was my fries. My husband ordered the rib dinner with the mac and cheese and baked beans. The mac and cheese was not good at all, he was able to swap it out for fries. The baked beans were OK. He really enjoyed the ribs, but like the beef ribs they were cold. He also ordered the brisket, definitely won't order that again, cold, dry and flavorless. Our food came out pretty quickly, which in most cases is a good thing but not when it compromises the temperature of the food. Suggestion: turn off the air, it was very cold in the restaurant, which was not a good thing since it was pretty cold outside when we visited. The gentleman who greeted us and sat us was awesome and the young lady that took our order was great as well. The gentleman that was behind the bar, not too friendly when I asked for to-go containers. We will come back. Hoping for a better experience next time. I wish 10 stars was an option. After a terrible experience at another local restaurant, we arrived to The Steller Hog a little after 9. The restaurant was closing but after we explained what had just happened to us the owner/staff decided to stay open. They offered us drinks & patiently waited for us to review the menu, even explaining anything we were unsure of before we placed our orders. While waiting for the food to be prepared we talked like we were old friends. We did take our food to go,we did not want the staff to stay any later than they had already for us. Stopped through St Louis and was nearby this place. Popped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Tried the smoked salami, baby back ribs, & brisket. Location is a bit tucked away but worth the drive in my opinion. I got the brisket Sammie with melted cheese, onions and horseradish mayo and it was large and delicious. My side was the cabbage and I liked it. My father in law got the brisket by itself with beans and he liked both, but he preferred the pulled pork which we got for our wives along with smoked turkey, which they both loved as well. The only item we didn't like that much was the potato salad, which was cubed hash brown like potatoes and they were a little crunchy -- too different for our group. Best ribs in St Louis. I often avoid ordering a half rack of ribs at places because I usually leave hungry. I have a pretty big appetite. I'm also someone who always ALWAYS cleans their plate. I have YET to finish an order of ribs at Stellar Hog. The pieces are SO big and SO tasty. Getting takeout from the Stellar Hog was one of the best things we did all quarantine. This was our first visit and we had heard about them from the top 100 list for this year. We ordered the whole chicken with a side of Mac and cheese. Ordering and pickup was so easy and the staff are just so personable. They thanked me for my support during quarantine and gave us a bottle of their BBQ sauce. Such a great touch! This is the best experience I had with BBQ ribs in st Louis. We ordered the Intergalactic Meal that feeds 4 ppl. We ordered a side of the corn ribs. On my way back to the table I stopped to get water for a couple of us. By the time I walked over the food was already on the table and my family had a panicked look on their faces. We are from the West coast so we assumed we would be getting slabs of bones with some meat on it. So everyone thought they would eat a half slab. Well it was an alarming amount of meat on those bones! I wish I had taken pictures but we were too busy being stunned by the timing and amount of food. The sides are a quart each. My husband thought he would be " healthy" and order the creamy cabbage...that stuff can't be healthy lol. It was delicious! It is creamy and has bits of pastrami or something in it. The ribs were awesome. Tasty, tender... again this is the best I had in st Louis. The corn ribs were nice but I probably wouldn't order again. Got there right before everyone else We ordered the Full slab of ribs with the creamy cabbage and beans. Husband says this is the best BBQ he's had yet in STL and he can't stop talking about the creamy cabbage. Granddaughter LOVED the ribs and cheesy, cheesy pulled pork load fries AND smashed burger. 7 years old and she was in heaven. Even thought the pickles were great.
