I went here for my hair and makeup to be done for my engagement photos. I told them my hair is hard to hold curl, but others have been able to manage it so it can be done. I walked in without an appointment and they got me in- bonus. I was really hoping to like this place since it is so close to my house... I had the express mani ($18) and pedi ($28) and for the prices, I assumed I would get more. Express to me means no fluff, but she didn't even trim around the cuticles or clean under my nail?? The massage lasted all of 20 seconds. My finger nails were not filed evenly, either. The experience was ok, but for $46 I can get a hell of a lot more done somewhere else. The girl who worked on me was nice enough and they do try to make the experience seem special with a beverage served on a silver tray... Still, I will not be coming back. read more

Like it. Great addition to Petaluma! I have shoulder length very wavy hair and they do an amazing blow out and hot iron. Affordable. Clean. Everyone that works there is very sweet. I even had a polish change once during my hair appt! The owner was there once and she and I had a discussion about the product line they carry--it's fantastic. I made an appointment on their website this morning and was thrilled by how easy it was. Didn't have to wait on hold and could see right away what times were available! I was also very pleased by how easily accessible the location is from the freeway. I drive from Santa Rosa to San Francisco every Friday evening, and I like to get my nails and hair done in Petaluma on the way. This location is perfect and so convenient! It seemed too good be to true, so I tried not to get too excited until I saw how my appointment went. My appointment was with Marla, and she was lovely. I wear wigs a lot and wash my hair as infrequently as possible, so my hair was very dirty and I was a little embarrassed...and even though I'm sure she was totally grossed out by it, she didn't let on at all and was very sweet! She styled my hair exactly as I asked her to, and it feels super soft after the Kerastase treatment! I love it. Highly recommend! read more

Last week I was having serious trouble with getting my hair to behave. I had heard about the blow dry bars popping up and got on my phone and found Style. Making an appointment online was easy. I was told by the staff there that weekends are tough to book on short notice, but I had no trouble on Thursday morning. Marla is very sweet and did a great job on my hair! I got lots of compliments at the office - even my husband remarked that it looked good ;) so the proof of the pudding being the deciding factor, I am already plotting my next appointment. One of the best blow outs I've had! Believe it or not, a good blow out is hard to come by! My blow outs tend to either be too big/poofy or lose curl within minutes, but this particular blow out was amazing until the next day! The salon is also super modern looking which I loved. Looking for a last minute appointment for a pedicure on a Sunday, was able to reserve an appointment online, which is always a great feature and not many salons are open on Sunday. Place was hip and clean, however I found the bench you sit on for your pedicure a bit uncomfortable. There is no really back support even with the pillow i was using. There is also limited colors to choose from. The staff was friendly, offered a beverage and the pedicure was good. For the price I guess I was looking for a bit more. I will not wait until a Sunday for a pedicure and find a salon that you can pay less and get more. read more

I've been to style bar a lot for blowouts, manis, pedis and eyebrow waxing. I tend to have hit or miss experiences. The services I've had have all been good particularly the nail services but I've now had two screw ups with scheduling. One made me late to an event and the other was just incredibly frustrating. I broke my wrist and had surgery last week. Not being able to wash my hair I booked an apt online. I got dressed (a struggle) and got in the car only to get a call that they had double booked someone. Normally not a big deal but the amount of effort I put in trying to get there seriously almost made me cry. They really need to step up the professionalism and minimize the screw ups. read more

I love a good blow out. The girls here do a great job. I have curly hair and they can get it very straight just with a blow dryer. I wish Santa Rosa had something like this, but I find myself taking the 20 min drive because it's worth it. I've had pedicures too. They're so-so. My daughter had her hair styled on Saturday for prom. I think her stylist was new and lacked training. Her stylist never introduced herself or asked what the event was. She was shown pics of what she wanted (simple braid and curled hair) and explained what time the event was. Her hair style was messy and I had to point out areas needing attention. No products other than a light mist of hair spray at the very end was used. The style did not last more than two hours. I had to completely redo my daughters hair before she left for prom. I called to see if I could bring her back to have her hair recurled but no one answered the phone. read more

It is very rare for me to have my hair styled without getting it cut and having my makeup "professionally" done. To say the least I wasn't very happy with my experience here. I made an appointment for a full makeup and hair style but left feeling like I could have done a better job at home. The hairstyle I received was a curled look but was easily something I could have done at home. My makeup only lasted for an hour or two before starting to fade and I even had to ask the woman if she was going to apply any lipstick when she told me I was done and her response was, "I forgot." I felt like she was asking me everything I wanted done make up wise when I just wanted to look glamorous and sexy and have a professional tell me what would look best. My stylist was friendly enough but everything seemed very amateur and I walked out of there annoyed I had spent so much money and wishing I had just watched a YouTube tutorial instead. There was another woman next to me complaining about her hair as well so maybe it's not just a problem with the woman who styled me. read more

I went here to have makeup and hair done for my son's wedding. They were great, they did my hair and some came out of the updo and they fixed it up with no problems. The makeup artist is awesome. Such a disappointment now. They use to be great but no longer. They raised their prices by OVER 10% for blow drying your hair. There is no value added for this increase and you truly wonder why prices were increased in the first place. The unfortunate part about going to this place is that you don't know how your hair will look when you leave the salon because not all the stylists are skilled and as soon as you find one that is good, they leave. The turnover is incredibly high. In addition, not all stylists know how to wash your hair so if you really want your hair clean, wash it before you go there and be prepared to not always have the best style when you leave. read more

They fit a friend and I in within 30 min for a shellac manicure, which was great. I had shellac on, the young woman who removed it also removed most of my nail. Next I asked for less of an oval shape to my nails, I ended up with squared off witch looking nails. Lastly, I brought a photo of the pink I wanted. I showed it to the woman and she picked a very light color saying it was darker on. After two coats she could still barely see it so had to add a third coat of something darker. My nails are still too light. She got top coat everywhere and after it dried had to cut some of it off the sides of my nails, consequently she took some of my nail with her...ouch. I went out that night and the polish on both my thumbs completely lifted and popped off. They replaced if for free, but now it's been a week and most of it is lifting. $40 waste of money. Oh ya and the manicure took over an hour...I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

I've been going to the StyleBar for over 6 years. I have extensions done and although there've been minor issues the staff and service overall have been very good. I've spent a LOT of money there over the years and tip well. I recently had new extensions put in and within a week some of them were ripping out. They fixed the problem with no charge. In less than a week the same thing happened again, leaving a bare spot in my hair. The girl that usually does them had an emergency so they made me an appt. with someone else. They called 3 hours before the appt. to cancel, saying they had no one trained to replace the lost extensions. Then why did they book and confirm the appt.? I have an event tomorrow and bare patches on my head. So unacceptable! I could've had the 3 extensions taped back in somewhere else and went to my party with a full head of hair. I don't know a woman alive that wouldn't be crying over this! read more
