The custom sushi is very impressive. Based on recommendations from regulars, I ordered the Naughty Girl with baked shrimp (instead of tempura) and fresh salmon (instead of baked). Also had the Fisherman's roll. Fish was very fresh. The ginger is high quality - not what you find at most sushi places. The rice was a slightly different texture than what I'm used to, but was told this is normal for the area. They had a good sake collection with a scale system to help you choose based on your preferred sweet vs dry level. Also had a good wine selection and a full bar. Beers were bottled only. Miso soup was a little too salty for my taste, but otherwise was good. Probably the only thing keeping this from a 5-star is the service. We had a 7pm reservation but didn't get seated until 7:35 ... On a Tuesday night. And I had to do a little extra work to make our server crack a smile. He may have been stressed out Bev it was so busy. They have a second location about to open up so hopefully that will alleviate the service pressures. Will definitely want to go back next time I'm in the area. read more

I love this location. The service is always great, and has some of the best sushi you can get in OKC Metro. Although there are other sushi restaurants I like in the metro, what really makes this a go to for me, is that it is the perfect balance of fancy and casual. What I call a perfect first date spot. I usually start with their edamame, which is good. Not that it is anything particularly special, but not over or under cooked. Then I usually try whatever their specialty roll is, as I have never gone wrong this way. They also have a decent size menu and I don't always like to decide :) Their fish is so fresh, and they seem to have it down to expert level when it comes to making all the flavors come together. Not high-end sushi, but great late night option for good food, fun, music and drinks. I did not know this was an option, until my coworkers wanted to go out after work on Saturday. We started with martinis and sake. The server was friendly, even thought he was busy. We started with the fried octopus dumplings and they were delish. From there we ordered a variety of sushi items off of the limited-late-night menu. All good, but nothing spectacular. Food was good as usual. However atmosphere, service was a little iffy. Might not come back for a little while. The bartender kept cursing loudly where I could hear him all the way across the restaurant where my family and I were sitting, by the entrance door. Then our waitress and buss boy were flirting with each other and busboy was too cursing loudly with our waitress. I'm very glad that I didn't have my kids with me last night or there would have been an issue right there and then. Families and Christian families especially eat at this establishment and I shouldn't have to hear pirate talk. If that type of language is encouraged at your establishment then pls put a sign upfront so I can make a better decision if I want to eat there or not. Also, the waitress left for about 15 minutes and didn't come back. I had to ask someone else if they could ask outr waitress to pls bring our check. I was tired of listening to pirate boy at the bar. Sleek and modern interior, plentiful parking out front. I was a little worried initially because our miso soups came out with a regular siver dining spoon stuck in them... I have NEVER seen this before. In my experience, it's either been served in the bowl only (so you pick it up and drink it straight from the bowl, like you're traditionally supposed to) or at least with a proper soup spoon. I was also concerned because a lot of the rolls were weird fusions with a ton including cheese - string cheese, etc. (Really? Dozens of sushi rolls with cheese?? I guess they're trying really hard to accommodate the local palates..??). The boy got a lunch box ($8 - comes with miso soup, small salad, half an orange sliced up, half cup of rice, and salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, etc.) with salmon teriyaki and I got one with unagi. We also ordered a "pink panther roll" (salmon, avocado and tamago wrapped in soy paper) and a volcano roll. The fish seemed moderately fresh and the rolls were made well. I think my boyfriend and I are starting to become regulars. We always go in, sit at the bar, and order 2 tall Tiger beers to start. Next up, we have to decide between edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad; you really can't go wrong with any of them. Now to the sushi, oh the sushi. Hands down you have to try the red lava and the sunset rolls. Both of them have these gorgeous chunks of spicy tuna piled on top. However, my favorite thing there is the sashimi carpaccio. It's 9 pieces of sashimi in this tangy sauce that's distinct and memorable. Keep in mind, it's one of their specials, and even then you won't always see it in the table top specials menu, just ask for it and they'll still make it. Basically, I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm a fresh fish lover from Texas, and even though Oklahoma is landlocked state, The Sushi Bar knows what it's doing. It can get pretty packed during happy hour since it's in a college town. The bartender usually just talks to a certain group of people towards the end forever and takes "their" sweet time to get to you. Overall I liked this place. There's a good amount of parking and some outdoor seating. When we went inside it seemed a bit too dark but later on they turned up the lighting so it was ok. There was a faint smell of cleaner but I rationalized that to be a good thing. The interior is done well with high ceilings, bamboo arches and sound dampeners to keep the echo down. Some of the tables have these really interesting giant chairs. I will say that typically the sushi bar part of the restaurant is separate and more of "happening" type of place. We didn't sit there this time because I had my daughter but it didn't look like a fun place to be -- more of an after thought. Based on the name of the restaurant, it should be better. Maybe put up a pony wall or something. There was plenty of chefs there, though. Now for the food. I had the nigiri (2 pcs sashimi) of yellowtail, spicy tuna hand roll and cooked salmon sushi roll. The yellowtail and spicy tuna hand roll were good but the cooked salmon roll wasn't. I think the cooked salmon is just not a good choice for sushi, so my fault. My wife ordered the Udon noodle chicken dish. She didn't like it because it had non-traditional veggies in it like bell peppers and onions -- more like mexican chicken fajitas. The thick udon noodles were good though. I had the green tea ice tea (they dont have regular) and it needed sugar (and I'm not a sweetened ice tea guy). The price was about $45 -- a bit on the high side for 2 entrees and three non-alcoholic drinks. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am no sushi expert or aficionado of any caliber. I enjoy maki rolls and unagi, that much I know. I'm very open to trying new things though. Hence our visit to The Sushi Bar. My first visit was actually a to-go order. The person taking my order was very friendly and to the point. Though I wasn't told how much it would be, I had figured about how much it was going to cost. Their prices aren't bad at all, really. It was about what I expected to pay. Though my girlfriend enjoyed the take-out so much that we went in for lunch one Sunday after church services. The room was initially dark with the windows blinded, but the lights came on shortly after we were seated. I found the menu very helpful and well organized and instantly found my go-to rolls. California, Philadelphia, and Spider rolls are usually my favorites. I'm glad to say that they do them very well here. Solid construction and fresh tasting ingredients. The girlfriend ordered their salmon teryaki lunch box and was very happy with it. It came with Miso soup which did surprisingly have a regular silver spoon in it. I'm used to having it without one, but it was fine. Our second visit was for dinner and there was a bit of a larger crowd this time. Our service was just like our lunch visit earlier in the week, very friendly, prompt, and present when refills were needed. Though for dinner I tried some of their Sashimi in an attempt to try something new. More specifically, I ordered the yellowtail. It was flavorless by itself, but I added some sauce and a bit of ginger from my plate of maki rolls. I enjoyed it, though it isn't something I'd normally order. She ordered the "summertime rolls" I believe they were called. It consisted of crabstick, salmon, tuna, avocado all wrapped in cucumber. It slid apart and was kind of difficult to handle with chopsticks alone. Not bad though. I have yet to try their selection of sake. I typically enjoy it, so I'll have to come back and give my review on that when I've had the chance to sample a bit. I LOVE the Sushi Bar. It is definitely my go-to sushi place in OKC. And we have a pretty serious sushi habit. The restaurant itself is open and large. It can sometimes get a little loud if you go on a busy night. But, the service is always really quick and extremely friendly. They have a great selection of saki, beer and wine as well as an extensive cocktail list. But, most importantly, they have a phenomenal sushi selection! Their fish always tastes fresh and the rolls are really well-made. The Summer Roll would have to be my favorite (crabstick, salmon, tuna, avocado wrapped with cucumber, sesame seeds and ponzu sauce), but they have an overwhelming number of great fresh rolls. The cooked rolls typically contain too much cheese or tempura for my taste, but their fresh rolls can't be beat. read more

Everything they use for the sushi rolls tastes cheap, weak, and bland. Which is really too bad because its a beautiful establishment and the servers are always SO nice. First time visitor, but definitely won't be the last! My partner & I were craving some sushi, so we met up with some friends on a Friday night. The wait was only about twenty minutes, but it wasn't bad. Let me say that our waiter was amazing, too! He answered all the questions I had about everything, and was super polite about it and offered that they could leave some stuff out/off of I preferred. We started off with a small edamame, and that was great! It was nice & warm with the right amount of salt. It was the perfect amount for sharing. Our friends shared four rolls; my partner got three; I got two. The ones I enjoyed were the spicy tuna & the Oasis. The Oasis was a spicy seafood mix covered in rice & rolled in soy paper. There were little tempura flakes inside, too. Ah-may-zing! The other guests were really happy with theirs, you. I highly recommend this place, and it has become our favorite now. Well after probably 100 trips to this place we are done. About a week ago I had a bug (see pic) in my sushi. I very nicely caked and spoke to I think the manager and explained the situation and that I was not eating my sushi due to bug. They offered to remake (uhhh no) if I wanted to come back. I explained it was a 15 min drive to get there so I didn't feel like getting back out. I offered to text or email a photo of the bug and she said she didn't need and offered a refund which I said ok to. So now about 10 days later I'm looking at my online banking and see I got a refund for $4.25 which was the cost of the cucumber roll but we also had a Philly roll and the ticket was $13. My son refused to eat his because of the bug on mine, his had black sesame seeds all over and he was worried he was gonna eat a bug and not see. I'm in awe that they only refunded me $4.25 when i said we couldn't eat any of it. I have been a long time great customer and have never made a complaint so to be treated this was ridiculous. When I was told I'd get refunded I expected the whole $13. I know that's not tons of money but it's the partial refund that goes all over me. I'm sure they don't care but we will be going elsewhere from now on, there are tons of great sushi places around here. read more

I made a review two years ago and put a 4/5 rating to this restaurant. 2 years after, I came several times and it's how a restaurant can be evaluated, in the long term. This restaurant deserves a 5/5. The food is fresh, the price is average, the ambience is nice and you don't need reservation even if full. Most importantly, you are served fast and on time. The bar is excellent, the sushi chief recognize you and know what you like. This is a personalized service and it's what makes the difference with other places. The service is perfect in all aspects and over the time. $6 for a glass of red Cabernet from South Africa is also a cheap price. Finally after few years and comparing with other places, I recommend this sushi bar as the best of Oklahoma City. They are constantly improving and it's worth any $ spent. read more

Decent attempt at an A-list sushi place, but quite far away from actually achieving it. The prices are definitely there though. $24 for salmon teriyaki? $16 for chicken teriyaki? and averaging $11-12 for a roll, it's a bit expensive for the quality they put out. Most places that serve similar quality are about $2-3 less per rolls and charge much less for their teriyaki entrees. There is a saving grace though, their happy hour which is after 10pm (not sure what days of the week), but it is 50% off of everything which is very nice, but basically makes the prices normal. The sushi fish tastes relatively fresh compared to other OKC metro places, but the taste is just not there. The teriyaki is average. Everything about Sushi Bar screams "so-so" except for the prices and the decor. The decor and ambiance is very nice, but the service is absolutely horrid. One server working the whole restaurant at 7:45pm on a Thursday night? Absurd. We wait 30-45 minutes for our food for a table of 4 when the restaurant itself only had 5 tables of people. The service is somewhat friendly, but the snail's pace just ruins it. Overall: not recommended unless you go during happy hour and are prepared for horribly slow service, even then re-think it - Ridiculously over-priced - Slow service - Average sushi - Average entrees - Good Happy Hour (after 10pm --- 50% off everything) - Longest wait times and worst service during happy hour read more
