I really like this place but when I came a few days ago, I felt like the food tasted way different and not in a good way. I think their chef changed or something or they're using lower quality meat now because it just doesn't taste the same. Like always, I got the prime rib dinner (only served on weekends). The corn bisque I ordered for my appetizer was way too sweet and didn't taste like how it normally tasted. I asked for my meat well done, but usually when I get it, it's not THAT dry and is flavorful and good to chew on. But this time, my meat was so dry I could barely eat it. The sauce used to dip your meat in tasted different too.. it was so watery that even though I dipped my meat in the sauce, it didn't really make a difference and I couldn't really taste it. Ended up finishing half of my prime rib but it was not a very good experience... dessert was fine but I was really sad that the prime rib changed so much! Before it used to be cooked well done but not dry either, so I don't know what changed this time. Anyway, still giving it 3 stars because I'm hopeful about this place and I hope that it was just a one time thing... although my family is pretty scared and we probably won't be back for a while. read more

My girl took me here for a brunch buffet. We were seated by the pool side outside, cute umbrella to block us from the sun. Service was great; never miss a beat on our mimosa refills! Food was either a hit or miss. Pork or Chicken sausage-yum! Bacon-crispy and oily Omelet made to your liking and choice Dim sum BBQ pork bun-soft, filled with BBQ pork goodness Vegetable dumpling-the dumpling fell apart Shrimp dumpling (hai gar)-tasty but you can really only have one because the shrimp wasn't so great. Came here for my friends birthday. Had not heard of the restaurant. That's always the best. Arrived and asked for parking, valet only. Thankfully, its free w/ validation at The Terrace. Walked in and was enveloped by the tasteful, yet luxurious surroundings. Walked down several halls and finally towards a large window overlooking the pool area. Window perfectly framed the manicured gardens outside. Before entering the dining area, you get a sense of something special. We were offered an option of all you can eat Sunday brunch or meal. meals ranged from $15-$22. Buffet was $25. So why not. Walked over to the buffet area and was disappointed. Only had four serving trays. Roasted potatoes; Scrambled eggs; Meat platter (w/ two diff sausages and bacon); and cheese blintzes. Took a little of each. Then noticed a chef w/ table around him. Personalized omelets. So ordered one w/ ham, bacon, artichoke, and green onions. Chef was courteous and fast. Unique but they only used egg whites. Once done, I took to my table and tried. Was beautiful. The flavors were well balanced and full. Was able to taste each ingredient w/o one overpowering another. Although he cooked it casually, he really knew what he was doing w/ proportions. Took a taste of the sausage and was surprised w/ the flavor. There was an herbal quality to it. Just a hint. All the meats were not overly oily and tasted fresh. Reminded me of the sausages and meats I had in Berlin and Finland. Although it looked like normal, it didn't taste normal. It was apparent they were made with quality ingredients. Same was true of the other foods. Scrambled eggs were well seasoned, and tasted eggy. Not like the yellow plastic at McDonald's. Didn't notice till my second round, the bread table had more than bread. There were breakfast pastries, fresh banana nut bread, and bagels. But, what caught my attention was lox; smoked salmon; seared ahi; and fresh fruits. Personally I love lox. And had always thought they were the same. Again the food looked like other food but tasted different. Lox tasted.....fresh. Was not overly salted and had a strong salmon flavor. Tasted buttery and rich. At times thought I was having salmon nigiri at a good restaurant. Following a common theme of fresh and quality ingredients to common foods. A simple change that makes a world of difference. At first we planned on the buffet, but after looking at it, it was barely nicer than a generic free breakfast at a hotel -- yes there were some figs and a egg station, but nothing special that would warrant the price -- no lox or upscale options. So, we decided to order off the menu. To start our bill was already $16each for a cup of coffee and a glass of orange juice. The actual entree options were decent -- the smoked salmon plate was good at a reasonable price, but the sides were absurdly overpriced. For example, $8 for half an avocado, $12 for a bowl of basic berries that one might find at a Dennys. Service was fine, but for 2 people to spend $110 on a breakfast I should have been wowed. read more

But when the bill arrived they charged $75 per adult and $40 per child. Talk about sticker shock!!! I've had the privilege of coming here numerous times because of my family member's preference to come to eat breakfast here. Located on the lower level of the Langham near the pool, this relaxing restaurant overlooks the pools and has a view of the nice bridge that goes...somewhere. (Never actually walked down the bridge). It is the more chill, casual restaurant in the Langham. The other being the upscale Royce. In terms of the food, the food is decent. They have the usual breakfast dishes from your eggs and bacon to your huevos rancheros to your steak and eggs. In addition, they also have a breakfast buffet for around $30. If you are ordering off the menu, there are few dishes I recommend. 1. Yogurt Parfait or the Acai Bowl (New): They are relatively the same dish except for the difference with what you have at the bed of your bowl. For $12, it's not what you would want to spend for yogurt or acai but the price is reasonable in terms of this place being in a high end hotel. The bowls are topped with fruit (strawberries, blueberries, bananas) and granola. A healthier alternative for your breakfast. 2. The Breakfast Sandwich: A kaiser roll (I believe) with cheese, eggs, tomatoes, and bacon. A simple dish that comes with a side of has browns and half a tomato with sprinkled broiled parmesan on top. It can be split with someone because even though it isn't very large, the bread makes it pretty filling. 3. The American/Langham Breakfast: It is your average eggs and choice of bacon, ham, or sausage with a side of hash browns. You can't go wrong with this choice. The eggs are usually made to your liking but feel free to ask them to remake it if they are not done correctly. As for service, the servers are very attentive. The waiters are always there to assist as needed and the busboys and busgirls are always there ready to refill your coffee cup or provide you with any additional assistance. That is probably the reason why my family always comes back. Parking is either street or valet. When there ISN'T some event going on, the parking on the street is convenient and a short walk to the restaurant. If not, the valet parking is super convenient. REMEMBER to validate your ticket so that parking is $5, or else it is around $15... The Terrace is also decent for dinner. I haven't been there for dinner in a while but they have a limited menu but the food is still good and the service is still on point. And there is free WiFi, supplied by the hotel, if you need it but it's pretty slow so unless you are really low on data or really need to get someone done on your laptop, it might not be worth it to connect. read more

It is really tragic how the quality has gone down. It used to be our tried and true for a nice treat but now it is truly airport food with an exorbitant price tag. The food did not taste good. The presentation was not good. We waited an hour for a salad and a salmon. We spoke to the manager and she hurriedly tried to end the conversation by dismissing our feedback and merely blamed COVID. They called to confirm the day before. When I called back, I kept getting transferred into the main line and finally gave up. The girl was really perky, though. We were seated at a table too large for our party. The room has very high ceilings and it was difficult to hear one another. Though the waitstaff was polite, it felt very rushed, though it wasn't an overly busy day. This is for a breakfast visit on Dec 26, 2023. We (a party of 7) were at the Terrace at 10:30 for breakfast on the 26th, my family and I were entertaining dear friends visiting us from North California. Our waiter was rude and lacked not just manners but energy and interest. The Food was incredibly poor, both taste and presentation wise. You might think the kitchen ran out of eggs since the scrambled egg dishes a few of us ordered barely had one egg scrambled. The roasted potatoes were completely cold and mushy, the toasted bread was burnt and felt like decades old, and everything else was cold to the touch and had no taste. The seats had super dirty cushions and the tables were all scratched up and sticky. Everything was incredible bad. The hotel management should take this comment and comments made by others seriously. We have frequented this Huntington jewel for 30 years and it's sad to see what's happened to this beautiful property and 5-star hotel under Langham's management. During the Ritz-Carlton days, you would never have such poorly trained and behaving waiters nor such awful food and furniture to tolerate. We were so disgusted by the entire experience, it's doubtful they we'll go back to the Terrace at Langham ever again. read more

We came here for a bite during lunch since we were staying at the hotel for the weekend. The food and atmosphere was good and we enjoyed sitting outside on the deck. My husband loved his grilled cheese sandwich, it had avocado inside and tomato soup and fries on the side. I ordered the chicken caesar salad and it was 5/5 for me too. The service however was not good. We were looking for our server many times and had an appointment right after we didn't want to be late for. I love love love coming here, even when I'm not staying as a hotel guest. My bf and I like to occasionally book a night here for a mini staycation, but sometimes we just crave the food! Their breakfast is always lovely and so is the ambiance. The service is impeccable and we always feel so well taken care of! The ingredients are fresh and wonderful quality! Every breakfast and lunch we've had here has been perfect. We love to sit on the patio near the pool, weather permitting. If it's too hot or cold, we sit inside near the window to still enjoy the patio view, if such a table is available. Summer is here which means we will be back very soon, either as guests or diners! My husband brought me here for a birthday and the food was delightful! I had the prime rib and omg was that a huge portion. I could not finish it. I forgot what he got but it was some kind of meat plate. I started with s salad that was very good and he got a French onion soup that was pretty amazing. The bread basket they start you off with is everything, such good bread! The customer service was great and so was the ambience. The dessert was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The restaurant is inside the hotel and there are a couple in there so just ask around if you're going the right way. Came here for the first time for dineLA for dinner. I ordered the Tuscan Kale Salad, Moroccan Skirt Steak and Almond Poppy Chamomile Cake - all had really good flavors, textures and consistency. I especially liked the Skirt Steak - it was cooked perfectly (Medium Rare) and had just the right amount of spice where it wasn't overpowering! Also tried what my girlfriend ordered - Spaghetti Squash, Pappardelle with Cognac Cream Sauce and Key Lime Panna Cotta (very good as well!) Saturday breakfast consists of buffet or ala cart menu. While I chose to do the ala cart menu option, my husband chose to do the buffet brunch which had waffles,pancakes, omelette station, sausage, and bacon and plethora of baked pastries and breads. I ordered vegan gluten-free potato pancakes which was out of this world amazing but the beet sauce that comes with it was not my favorite. Even the side salad that accompanied was amazing and not like other side salads but a fully thought through salad with jicama, tomatoes, sweetened apricots, Pears and oranges. Our server was so thoughtful and since I requested my salad without any oil or dressing, he made sure that there was no butter or oil on the potato pancakes as well and put the beet sauce which contained oil on the side. This type of service is going above and beyond to make sure the customer is fully happy and being attuned to what the customer wants and needs. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the buffet and the assortment of items on the buffet for the price of $32. There were no vegetarian options but did provide the pasta arrabiatta for the veggie option. The portions are large - so I had half of the pasta as a leftover but found it to be tasty but very oily. I had the Shrimp and grits, they were creamy, but I didn't realize how much cream there would be - a little too rich for me....My friend next to me had the filet mignon, which also looked good, she took half home. The staff was very friendly and professional. I didn't like that there was only Valet parking as an option, w/validation the cost was $10 -- So I don't think we will return as there are many restaurants to choose from in Pasadena. If one is staying in the hotel, then this works well. read more

A serious disappointment. I put family up here and figured we could do breakfast at the Terrace on their first morning -- an easy move after their travel -- and the photos of the restaurant overlooking the pool looked lovely. Unfortunately, arriving around 9:15AM on a Saturday, there was already an hour wait for a table, which at first I thought might have had to do with the closed veranda (rain) but the indoor tables were never more than half full the whole time we were there. Instead the delays seemed self-inflicted. The front desk was needlessly chaotic, they had incorrect names on their list and they seemed incredibly frazzled and confused, and there was a long line of people waiting the entire time. When we were finally seated, we got coffee immediately; I was interested in an espresso but it was 10 (TEN) DOLLARS. Can you imagine?? Then, noone came to our table to take our order. 5, 10, 15 minutes went by of trying to wave someone down and eventually I had to stand up and get in a waiter's way to get his attention. The breakfast buffet seemed to be a good deal, but the eggs were pebbly and poorly done, multiple items were out, and the weirdly crowded layout meant that if someone was spooning a single blueberry at a time, noone else could get anything. Worst of all, the Belgian waffles were so overly sweet they were almost inedible -- I love a Belgian waffle but these hurt my teeth. It was an incredibly expensive disaster which I'm giving two stars because the space was at least classy. A huge black mark on what's supposed to be Pasadena's fanciest hotel. Last year my family spent our Easter at the Langham Huntley. I originally had a reservation at the Royce's Easter buffet but I couldn't get an earlier reservation than 2pm. My young children would be very hungry by then so I put my name in for a table at the Terrace and they were able to accommodate us although they were extremely busy. The food selection was very limited and the brunch was very disappointing. The freshly made Belgian waffles were the ugliest I have ever seen. The only redeeming part was that they were served with cute miniature glass jars of warm maple syrup. The omelette bar ran out of avocado. The omelette chef just scraped what was left in a bowl and couldn't even refill it. The dim sum and juk and its condiments were just plain gross. The toast, bagels, pastries were generic and not house made by a pastry chef which I would have expected from other similar hotels. The smoked fish and condiments were blah. The fruit weren't nice and the desserts were beautiful but tasted terrible. My DH who has the lowest standards in food thought the food was horrible, too... I'm not a fan of buffet brunches but for the price I would hope the items would at least be quality. I've eaten at The Royce and the food there is good. Other than that the Langham Huntley is a very beautiful property located on sprawling grounds and is vintage, glamorous, and classy. read more

We decided to sit outside on this lovely day on the terrace for our girls brunch, instead of the dining room. It was very relaxing near the pool and with a breeze blowing, it was perfect. We decided not to go with the buffet and ordered a la carte. All of us were eyeing the Red Velvet Waffle, but didnt want it for our entree, so we decided to share between the 5 of us. It was pretty good, it had the right rv flavor & crispiness of a waffle. It came with vanilla bean whipped cream which was delish. But for $15 for one waffle, it was kinda steep. Three of us ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict and it was yummy! The eggs were over hard poached which I like because I dont like runny yolks. The hollandaise sauce was right on. It came with two small benedicts & a small portion of hash browns. The portion was perfect for me, but hungry guys may need to order 2. We ordered juices & coffees all around and the service was good. I've been here a few times for lunch & dinner and always get great service & an elegant meal. What a ROMANTIC hotel! SO quaint and romantic! Came here for the "Premium Three Course" ($58 per person) - pick 1 app, 1 entree, 1 dessert. I came with a friend and we were able to share :) Start: 1) Seared Sea Scallops (Truffle Celery Root Puree, Sauteed Wild Mushrooms, & Veal Jus) - 2 scallops on top of sauteed mushrooms. Scallops were very tender and the entire dish was very flavorful. 2) Roasted Goat Cheese and Baby Arugula (Heirloom Tomatoes, Sherry Basil Vinaigrette, & Merlot Reduction) - 2 words: GOAT CHEESE. They give you a FAT BLOCK of goat cheese - at least 1 inch thick and 3 inches wide! Every bite was heaven! Went perfectly with the kick of arugula! Entrees: 1) Grilled Filet Mignon (Roasted Herb Fingerling Potatoes & Red Wine Sauce) - just having Ruth's Chris the night before, I had pretty high expectations! Nonetheless, this was a nice piece of meat! Not as good as Ruth's Chris or Morton's, but made me wish I ordered my own filet! 2) Pan Roasted John Dory (Warm Ratatouille & Chablis Beurre Blanc) - I've never had John Dory before but I am a huge fan of ratatouille!!! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL BRUNCH. First the cold facts, then I'll elaborate. Apparently, this used to be a wonderful Sunday brunch spot with meat carving stations, seafood towers and the like. Not anymore. It seems they've economized, and it is now an abysmal excuse for a brunch buffet, with only an omelet station, some dry pastries, some dry bacon and sausage in a heating tray, a pile of bagels, a toaster, disgustingly presented blobs of cream cheese and butter, some smoked salmon on a platter, and then five or six "dim sum" items in heating trays (which taste like reheated frozen fare). THAT'S IT. There's nothing else! No waffles, no pancakes, no crepes, no french toast, no meat carving station, no seafood tower, no cheese array, no cured meat assortment, no vegetable choices, no salad fare. And for this, they charge $42 per person! It's all set up at the bottom of a staircase, where you'd least expect food to be, and just so poorly thought out. I would have gladly paid $90 per person for a proper luxury buffet brunch (and I have). I spend FAR too much of my income on food, and I'm happy to when it's great. But this was literally like a bad joke. I understand that there are some waffle and pancake items on the actual menu you can order from, but wouldn't you expect these simple items to be included in an "all you can eat brunch"? I was wondering if I was on one of those hidden camera shows. What an awful, disappointing experience. I've experienced bad value before, but this one takes the cake. What an insult to go to such a pretty looking hotel, and to a brunch that apparently years ago was everything it should have been, only to find a poorly thought out mess like this. To make matters worse, the bagel station needed major attention (bagels needed to be replenished, cream cheese was nearly gone and just melted and all over the place) and it was not attended to until after we finished our meal, and even then, they had just picked up the bagels and taken them away, so all that was left was an empty station. I've had better experiences with "employee meal" setups on job sites. Their lack of any response to other negative comments posted here is a clear sign of how much they care, and an exact reflection of how much thought is put into their Sunday brunch buffet. All this said, this was SO bad, I almost think if you've read this far you should actually go, just to see how bad it is, and maybe you can share your experience too. I brought my family here for last Mother's Day brunch since my mom likes The Langham and didn't want to go to Bouchon. We arrived on time for our 1 pm reservation and were seated outside. It would've been lovely had it not been 90 degrees outside, so we moved indoors. We started off with Salt & Pepper Biscuits ($8) and a Fruit Plate ($14). The biscuits are a must if you're ever brunching here. They're so amazing, especially with the jelly served. The fruit plate was also delectable, very sweet and juicy. The Langham property is gorgeous and it was nice taking a stroll around the gardens after brunch.
