I'm not usually in the Florham Park area, but my husband and I went to the Shakespeare Theater of Madison's warehouse costume sale and needed a nearby place for lunch. We decided upon the Thisty Turtle. I ordered the panko crusted tilapia with citrus butter sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and spinach, an order my husband was dubious about. I proved him wrong. My dish came out the perfect temperature and consistency because it was brought from the kitchen immediately after cooking and was perfect, as was his balsamic chicken sandwich. My husband sampled a few beers from the 22 beer tap, and I nursed my old-fashioned cocktail with my one drink limit. Coffee and bread pudding dessert were also top notch. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor is beautiful with a desert palette of colors unfolding in a chic, modern decor. It is in the space of the old Trader Joe's but unlike the crazed energy of Trader Joe's, this restaurant is calm and relaxing and was a good choice. read more

My friend and I visited the Thirsty Turtle around 6 pm on a Thursday night. The restaurant is pretty spacious and a lot of tables were taken even for a weeknight. We were seated in a cozy spot and began to browse the menus. Their (food) menu online marked items as gluten-free, while the menu in the restaurant did not have any clear indicators. Their drink menu is seriously impressive, especially since they have a whole section dedicated to mules. I opted for a PB J mule, which is probably the most unique mule I've had-- it was absolutely delicious and well-crafted. My friend ordered a Caesar salad with salmon while I went for the candied pecan & apple salad since it is marked GF online. My salad arrived with bread on top of the lettuce, which I then had to discard and separate the untouched salad from. Unfortunately, the salad wasn't very robust or impressive, nor was my friend's ultra-dry salmon. I would definitely return, but probably just for the bar. read more

The Thirsty Turtle is the 'Real Deal' for Great food and Great times. This place is fast becoming a local landmark and is an unparalleled restaurant for Brunch, Lunch, Dinner or Just Drinks. For my initial visit I went with the Chicken Jenna which consists of breaded chicken stuffed with asparagus, roasted peppers, mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, and served with carbonara sauce, broccoli, carrots, & garlic mashed potatoes so Delicious. This meal would make Any Turtle come out of its shell, lol. The bartenders here are Really prompt and pleasant plus the food came out pretty quickly which is nice when you have a limited time for lunch. Parking is fair in the undersized lot and they do get Busy at peak times. I look forward to visiting the Turtle in the very near future. read more

A great spot my boyfriend took me to because we weren't sure where to eat! Didn't have high expectations but I was happy with this choice. The atmosphere was vibrant and lively so it seemed like a popular spot for a town bar. The hostess told us it would take fifteen minutes for us to get a table but we at least were able to grab a drink at the bar, but we were seated in less than ten. We ordered their Irish nachos which were really good and I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. With French fries. Highly recommend! My boyfriend got the short rib tacos and they packed it with a lot of meat so it seemed filling to me. The service was on point too. Very friendly and patient with us since we were indecisive. Went out with friends. I chose the buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing. The wings were very good and messy. And had a kick. No complaints here. One friend ordered potstickers and the other ahi tuna. They polished off their apps. I ordered St. Louis Ribs. When I eat ribs in a restaurant I expect the meat to fall off the bones. These did not. And they put a slice between each rib. I like no cuts. Let me do it. It came with fries and Cole slaw. I ate only the fries. Another friend also got the ribs and had the same result. Won't get ribs here again. My other friend got the bruschetta chicken over Angel hair. That's always a good choice. I first got a white peach sangria. Than with my meal the red sangria. On this particular October night, it was our grandson's Thirteenth birthday. Unfortunately, we chose the THIRSTY TURTLE in FLORHAM PARK, NJ to celebrate. Due to the fact that there were eight of us, we traveled in two separate vehicles. On the first day of his teenage years, the young man received several gifts, one of which was a gift certificate to MacDonald's. His younger sister had expressed a desire for a Happy Meal with french fries from Macdonald's. Our now 13-year-old grandson had us stop at MacDonald's for his sister, unbeknownst to his younger sister and immediate family. He did not use his gift certificate on himself but chose to spend it on his younger sister. Upon entering the THIRSTY TURTLE, we were IMMEDIATELY set upon by the management and dark haired middle age waitress who rudely, belligerently and surly with knowing the situation nor condition that he could not bring the food in. The fact of the matter was that he could not leave it in his parent's car due to the fact that they were already seated and awaiting his arrival. There are NOT too many children running around with the family car's keys in their possession. Needless to say, the balding older manager AND the dark haired middle age waitress never gave the young man the benefit of the doubt and continued to berate him in front of the ENTIRE THIRSTY TURTLE establishment. Never in our lives have we ever met nor dealt with such low class, demeaning, vulgar, abrasive and arrogant people. A generous young man's act of kindness to his sister along on a very noteworthy occasion was blasted to oblivion by the actions of a very surly staff. This place seems to be very well managed or at least they looked prepared for a rush or a bust based on the amount of employees waiting by the front door when we walked in at 3pm on a hot June Saturday. Ignore the poor reviews you are reading about this place during the glory days of the pandemic when we were all in a world of SHIT, I found an opposite experience and would really like to come back here again. The Thirsty Turtle deserves 5 stars! Everything is top notch here. Two friends and I came for lunch at noon on a Tuesday. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside (they have tons of outdoor and indoor seating). The place is huge. I wish I got our waitresses name because she was excellent. The service here is GREAT. We got the BBQ flatbread pizza and quesadillas for an appetizer. Both were 10/10. I highly recommend getting the flatbread. It's shredded BBQ chicken, red onion, molasses chipotle, BBQ sauce, fontina, asiago and motz cheese. For my lunch it was hard to choose because the menu has so many great options with great flavor combinations. I decided on the crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was delish. My friends got the French dip and the Cajun chicken sandwich. Both raved about their food. For dessert we got the brownie sundae and key lime pie. Both delish. Perfect portions too. There's even a cocktail menu for dessert! Alcohol + chocolate? Ummm YES PLEASE! I got a chocolate expresso martini. It was literally heavenly. Our waitress came around multiple times to check on us. This was my first time here. I was in the neighborhood and decided it would be a good time to stop in for lunch and try The Thirsty Turtle. It happened to be on my list. It's located right off Columbia Turnpike and if you make a left onto James Street go down a half a block and turn left into the Regency Plaza Mall. It will be on your left hand side. Upon entering to the left was a nice long bar with several flat screens. They had a good selection of beers on tap, along with some craft beers. On the opposite side were some high tops, you can also sit at the bar and order food. The main dining room was to the right. I didn't have a reservation but was seated immediately. This place was busy, but they do a good job turning over the tables. I'm sure weekends can get extremely busy. The menu has a nice selection to choose from. They have Soups, Small Plates, Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads, Shareables and decent Appetizers like Irish Nachos, and Filet Mignon Spring Rolls, Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna, and Pot Stickers. Both myself and my daughter decided on THE CRAB CAKE SANDWICH- It was served on a brioche roll with lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic tartar sauce, and veggie slaw. My crab cake had great flavor with hints of red peppers,scallions and a little old bay along with a nice amount of lump crab meat, not too much breading. The crab cake was pan fried. What made the sandwich was their roasted garlic tarter sauce. ( I would've loved to try it on French Fries.) The veggie slaw was equally good. It had a nice crunch to it and the portion size was abundant. I did not order dessert but several people around me did and it looked really good. The decor was simple, clean , and contemporary. The manager was scanning the place making sure everything was running smoothly, and it was. Our waiter was OK. He got our order correct and the food was served promptly. My husband and I were immediately seated when we arrived at the restaurant. It looked almost full but we landed a good table for two without much waiting. We ordered calamari and ahí tuna as appetizers, draft beer and a fruity martini for drinks. We got our food within 10 mins. But apparently you have to ask for cups of water. They don't give them as default. The ahí tuna was fresh and definitely the healthiest option on the menu. The calamari tasted good but definitely could improve if homemade like marinara sauce is provided on the side instead of ketchup. As for the entrees, my husband got an angus burger and I got a Mediterranean salad with salmon. The burger came with French fries. The meat was juicy but was lacking a little bit of salt . Same with the salmon. My salad was so good! Super fresh not too much dressing, just like I want it. We didn't get dessert. We were super full as the portions are big , especially the salad. But we did got coffee. (Restaurant representative, if you are reading this , please, please, don't make the coffee too watery. It has to be just a little bit more bold. I felt like I was drinking dirty water. ) The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance of the place is nice. What makes The Thirsty Turtle great is that it never disappoints. I go here with friends who live in the area for the occasional meet up. It's a good location to meet because there is ample parking as it's located in a shopping plaza. When you enter The Thirsty Turtle, the bar area is to your left and the sit-down, dining area is to your right. We'll often go to the left for drinks and appetizers, but you could very well order entrees at the bar, as well. This bar restaurant has a good amount of seating. I've seen many of the other Yelp reviewers say that the place gets crowded during happy hour during the work week. I usually come here on a Friday/Saturday night or Sunday afternoon to meet up with friends and fortunately haven't ever had to wait for a seat at the bar or at one of the high top tables. *knock on wood* The service at the bar is excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and always do a good pour. There's a great selection of drinks available. The beers on tap are good and never stale (they have good rotating selection along with their regulars on tap). I like the food here, too. The guacamole with chips and the Margarita Flat Bread are my personal favorite appetizers. Overall, it's a really nice place to meet up with friends. Super solid American restaurant. The ambiance is quite nice and the food was on point. We had kids chicken tenders, fries, buffalo wings and turkey burger. Everything was really good. Wings weren't as spicy as I would have liked but were cooked extra crispy upon request and done to perfection. Standard franks hot sauce wing sauce but very good. Turkey burger was great. Next time I will omit thr mustard and onions. Kids meal st $9 was a great deal as it was big enough for a hungry grown up to have some of the extras. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Thirsty Turtle was NOT like its contemporaries in the area. Very moody lighting when you come for dinner. It's a mix between formal and chill vibes where you can feel comfortable coming for either! The service was amazing. Our waitress was super nice, accompanying, and helpful. I can't emphasize this enough: super awesome service!!!! The food comes at pretty decent prices for burgers, roughly 10-15$. I went with the Bison Burger and substituted the coleslaw for onion rings for an additional 4 dollars. I think it was on me that I didn't know it was 4 additional dollars to change the side. Looking back, I probably should've stuck with the coleslaw. This was the first time I ever had bison so it was a new flavor experience for me. Honestly, not my favorite burger as the flavor was a bit odd. The bun was absolutely delicious along with the crispy onions on top. Moreover, the onion rings were a size able portion where I couldn't finish them all! They came with a super yummy mayo dipping sauce that I loved!!! We ordered the Garlic Parmesan Pretzel Stix with Cheese sauce, The Chicken Quesadilla, Carnival Calamari, Wings, and Cuba Libra Wings. The Carnival Calamari came prepared with garlic, capers, kalamata olives, hot cherry peppers, roasted red peppers, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil. We ordered the wings with Jamaican jerk seasoning, and the Cuba Libra Wings came with sweet cola rum glaze, lightly jerk seasoned, toasted coconut, and creamy peppercorn. The Cuba Libra Wings were the best appetizer we ordered, followed by the Calamari, in my opinion! The flavor on the Cuba Libra Wings was delicious. Just seasoned to perfection.
