Wow! This place is amazing. Aside from their delicious food, the way they coped during the pandemic of 2020 is far from amazing. Stepping up and providing customers with hot take out orders which also included a little surprise. My family and I only ordered a couple times takeout last year, and both times we received a roll of toilet paper. We laughed, and also used it! What a thoughtful little surprise from ownership. It's little things like this that keep us coming back. The staff is always friendly and speedy. Very rarely do I have to ask for anything extra because it's always offered. The Tin Fin is an average restaurant with average seafood in a coastal town that desperately needs more restaurants (not pizza, Mexican, fast food or Chinese though). The decor reminds me of grandpas barn that gramma got a hold of and tried to decorate with doilies... yes, it is 2019 and they use paper doilies as coasters... so, so weird and tacky. They also stage a full lemon with a knife on a side plate with a weird plastic lid on your table... like somehow cutting lemons, as sidework, at a seafood restaurant, is not something they do, it is something the customers are expected to do... again, so, so weird. Service was slow. It was basically empty when we walked in and it took more than 5-minutes to be greeted and sat. Our server seemed rushed and nervous and hovered around long enough to make us feel uncomfortable. We asked for bread, they said they didn't do bread but would bring us hush puppies ((which they ended up charging us for). The beer and wine list is just depressing but they did have sparkling wine so that was good. I wouldn't order a drink there as I could just tell I would have been disappointed. We ordered the $50 seafood "tower." It was three farmhouse (not so) chic cake stands stacked on top of each other with an overly salted combination of (mayyyybbbeeee) 1/4-lb shrimp, 1/8-lb sausage, 1 ear of corn, 4 red potatoes, (mayyybbeeeee) 1/2-lb snow crab legs although we were sold a full pound, and about a dozen steamed oysters (half of which did not open). They took the unopened half back to the kitchen and RESTEAMED THEM, then served them back to me... still bad, I am actually worried about getting sick. Last time we ordered to go from here our spuds were soggy and not good at all. We ordered a to go order again today and they forgot the spuds. I've been here 4 times over the past year and while there food isn't bad, it's just nothing special to me. There are other seafood restaurants that are in the same price range but have better food. Sometimes the service is slow and some it's spot on. The restaurant is always clean and has nice atmosphere. I would eat here again if someone I was with wanted to but I don't think I would choose to go here myself. I've never eaten here before, and I'm glad we chose to eat here tonight. From the time we walked in the door, until the time we left we had a great dining experience. The staff was very warm, and receptive. The food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. We want to do a special shout-out to our waitress, Alexis. She provided us with some of the best service that we have ever experienced. I ordered the low country boil, very good, shrimp cooked just right and enough for 2 or lunch the next day. 5 stars for the prompt and excellent customer service after a minor mix up in my to go order. It was a small mistake in my order that my fish was fried & I can't eat fried food. I didn't want to wait to re-order and drive back to the restaurant. I sent an email explaining the mix up & really didn't expect a response. I immediately received a phone call during their busy Friday dinner rush offering to remake my dinner and deliver it to my house 20 minutes away. Wow! I said it was okay that I'd made a salad. They took the charge off of my card which really wasn't necessary. Not to mention, had I been able to eat it, the portion was huge and looked really good. Yelp rocks!!! We found this amazing restaurant because of YELP.. Wow what a find. Who would imagine that a small family owned place tucked in the corner of a strip mall could produce the fresh food that we had. Walking in, we were eagerly greeted by 3 young servers. We wanted to eat at the bar, but there was no room, we were told we could have a table and move there when someone left. ( what a good thing to offer). Bartender actually came to serve us. She was patient as we pondered as to what we were going to drink. She poured a perfectly spiced bloody mary! The specials were explained and we had to choose off of a very well planned menu. The Sliced Ahi Tuna, flavorful, perfectly seared, wasabi sauce and a light but potent ginger dipping sauce. Calimari was typical fried pieces. Served however in a metal sea shell. With the perfection of the tuna, I did a seared Tuna sandwich. Perfectly prepared again. Crunchy salad with just enough dressing. Husband had the Low Country Boil and the flavor was consistent with each bite. We will return next time we are in the Tybee area. 5 Buck Lunch! This is the best lunch deal in town for a hot plate of food! Two choices each day - one entree, two sides and Texas toast. Last year was not a fluke. I'll even bump them up a star. Went back with a party of six (and one takeout) and everything was of good quality. Although they couldn't get everything out together, I didn't mind waiting for the scallops since I got them fresh. Both oysters and shrimp are on the small side but tasty enough. Flounder was the big surprise (My mom even double downed on her duo). Big and crispy but still moist and tender inside. I think the platter is even a bit more expensive at $32 but there seem to be a couple of more scallops. That said, it was easily enough for my wife and I to split. I came into town to visit a friend who brought me here for dinner. Everything was fresh & delicious!! I got the tuna seared, green beans are sooo good!!! And the mushrooms were huge. I found this restaurant while searching yelp on vacation in Savannah Ga. the restaurant was close to my brothers house so we decided to try it out. It was definitely worth it! I ordered the fried shrimp and scallops and it was delicious! The slaw is great too! The portions are big but definitely worth the price! The shrimp and grits is the way to go. It is ginormous. It was great. The wife and I each ordered it was waaayyyy to much for her. My portion was great a little too much but not like tons too much. That is usually my complaint with all you can eat the service is less than fast it is impossible to really get a rhythm going -- not in this case. The waitress seemed confused when I ask what drink offerings they had (coke, Pepsi, etc). Didn't really check on us throughout the meal. Food was ok. My husband and daughter both ordered the shrimp and grits, it was very bland. Pretty much just cheese sauce (tasting like velveeta) and a few shrimp. My son enjoyed the fried fish kids meal. He made my daughter feel like his best friend. The only drawback to TinFin is the ambiance.
