The waitress seemed confused when I ask what drink offerings they had (coke, Pepsi, etc). Didn't really check on us throughout the meal. Food was ok. My husband and daughter both ordered the shrimp and grits, it was very bland. Pretty much just cheese sauce (tasting like velveeta) and a few shrimp. My son enjoyed the fried fish kids meal. The Mountain of Spuds are to die for!! In conjunction with the homemade Ranch dressing, you think you're dealing with the greatest restaurant ever. I had the grilled shrimp, which were phenomenal. Shrimp, fire, butter, done!!! Delicious!! The musician playing this particular night was fantastic. His song choices were great and his persona was top notch. He made my daughter feel like his best friend. The only drawback to TinFin is the ambiance. It's has the food, drinks and music to make it a premier restaurant, but it allows itself to maintain an "Effingham" feel, which made it 4 stars instead of 5 for me. Would give it a lower rating but site won't allow me. Three hungry diners enter the restaurant expecting a nice down home southern dining experience. Boy oh boy were we ever disappointed. Don't get me wrong...the waitress was very accommodating it's the food that was subpar. I ordered a Buffalo shrimp Poboy. You know what I got? 8 tiny shrimp divided between two hotdog rolls. I'm not kidding...hotdog rolls!! There was a little shred of lettuce on each roll..that's it. My wife ordered fish tacos. She got two pieces of fish on two shells... that's it. My daughter had Buffalo shrimp with the tails still on which to my surprise were actually smaller than the shrimp on my poboy. This is a mediocre restaurant at best. My wife and I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come and greet us. Once seated, I ordered the low country boil. It was warm, with soggy corn on the cob, spicy sausage and blah shrimp. I could go on about my wife's, but why? Next time we have an anniversary, we will go into Savannah and eat at Vic's on the River for a little more money but worth every dime. It's all fresh there and the chef is excellent unlike our eating experience tonight. Tin Fin is blah and dark inside. Since we stayed in town, I would have preferred Riley's. The food is good and the owner is very nice to me. But, I thought I would give Tin Fin another chance. well, they had it. I just can't recommend Tin Fin. read more

Simply delicious. I was skeptical about a seafood restaurant away from the coast, but they must have a good source because my flounder sandwich was amazing. Took forever to find a hostess & there were maybe two other groups there -- not busy at all. The water tasted like straight-up chemicals, made us feel sick. Tables are super sticky from whatever cleaner they use or the material of the surface. The unpeeled shrimps had a real dirty taste to them. The fried zucchini was different but pretty good. The server was great -- she was new but very friendly -- but the experience overall was not great. Fix your dish washer or get your water purified, it's bad. read more

We have been to Tin Fin several times for date night, and we have never been disappointed. We usually get seafood of some sort, but we enjoy the chicken fingers and spuds just as much. I was especially impressed by the crab cakes at our last visit. They were absolutely delicious and I will definitely have them again. The mashed red potatoes were also very good, and tasted fresh. The overall serving size of crab cake and mashed potatoes was more than I could eat in one sitting, which was not unusual. We normally leave with a to-go plate because there is such a large portion leftover. My mom and stepdad drive an hour to come to Tin Fin every couple of months or so. This was my second visit. The first was just before closing so I excused the over fried food and the grits that were so stiff they could be thrown as soft balls. To night was early 5:30. The crab stew was salted and watered down with 5 small chips of crab. The liquid was yellow. That two was a first for me. I've never had crab "soup" so maybe the base is yellow. The calamari were salty and the dipping sauce looked kinda like the soup and the taste made me ask for cocktail sauce. . Next the seafood platter blackened except for the oysters. Salty, shrimp over cooked, oysters salty. The fish and shrimp were placed on top of the French fries so they even messed up those. They were soggy. The hush puppies, both of them, were tasteless. The cold slaw was good. Next dessert: peach cobbler with ice cream - fabulous!!!!!. If I ever go back it will be for the cobbler. I'm sorry this restaurant has disappointed. As a stand-alone seafood restaurant, this place holds its own as mediocre at best. However, the Tuesday "All You Can Eat" Crab legs offer is quite the profit maker. When you order the AYCE crab legs, there is a standard 15-25 min wait till you achieve the initial 2 cluster starter plate with 2 low quality sides, but a reorder consists of a waiting 15-20 minutes for a single cluster if your lucky, usually a broken cluster consisting of 2-3 legs or perhaps missing a claw but never a full 4 leg +claw cluster. These reorders are also the smallest class of crab leg you can get, often overcooked to mush, yet somehow always cold. This type of reorder is consumed usually within 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Resulting in waiting for a server to come back around to your table to ask if your ready for more, restarting a 15-20 minute wait for another plate with 2-4 legs again. Legs! Not clusters. This may be acceptable to some as the place was packed with smiling customers just sitting around smiling and waiting for a reorder, but to me a $61 meal should offer more than three bites of meat for an almost hour and a half wait time. I had to quit, pay my bill and go get a burger cause I was literally getting hungrier faster than the food was being served to me. I've never left an all you can eat meal hungry before till this. For this price, they are really taking you for a ride. read more

Had dinner here with my wife. The coconut shrimp app was good. (That got them the 2nd star) The house sale had (what I would call rotten) tomatoes). We were going to share the "hand cut" 16oz ribeye (whoever cut it did it with their eyes closed). By the time we removed the gristle and fat we had less than 6oz to share. We added the scallops for another 10 dollars. There were 4, they were about the size of a quarter and a little more than a quarter inch thick. Looks like they got a real scallop and cut it in thirds. All in all it was 100 dollar meal that we could eat 60% of. I hate to leave a bad review but the steak and scallops were ridiculous. I would not serve a steak like that to my own family let alone pay for it at a restaurant. Additionally when we first sat down there was only one other couple, by the time we left all the tables around us were full even though there were at least 8 tables not in use. Why would you not space people out so they can relax and enjoy themselves. Will not waste my money again. I did see some people who ordered fried fish and it looked good, but not willing to go back and take a chance. read more

I visited this place when I was in town visiting family. Walked in around 8 on a Friday night. There was a small wait but it was to be expected. The waiting area was super small and a party of 10 were there when we walked in so it was a bit cramped. There are 2 sides. I didn't go to the bar side but it looked nice. The server was very nice. Manager also came over and talked to us. I ordered the pot roast and it came out in a cast iron pan. It was to die for. The meat was tender, gravy was deleicious and the bread was perfect! I am looking forward to trying other dishes next time I come back! Kudos!! read more
