Food was okay for the most part. I don't think I will be coming here again anytime soon. The service was subpar. Took the waitress 20 minutes to come greet us and give us a drink. Then additional 30 minutes for someone to come talk to us again to get our order then another 40 just for food to come out. We didn't order a lot either so wasn't sure why it would take 40 to bring a salad out. There isn't a lot to choose from the menu either. Didn't seem like it had a consistent theme. Dessert menu had about 3 things and mostly contained nuts. So if you have a nut allergy you will have to pass and go elsewhere. read more

Fantastic spot to come for brunch in Boston! We had a reservation, but at 11am on a Sunday it looked like anyone could've gotten in without a wait (which is surprising now that I know how good the food is). We started with some mimosas, and then sharing a plate of their french toast donut holes. The mimosas were delicious, and definitely a bit on the strong side, but who doesn't want that?? The French toast donut holes were a DREAM! they were so crispy on the outside and soft in the center. The flavor was incredible with cinnamon, and a bit of fruitiness from the blackberries inside. It's served over some light cream and caramel, which added so much! For an entree, my friend and I chose to split the eggs Benedict. First of all, I adore this restaurant because they gave us our own plates and own potatoes, each with one Benny on it. Then the Benedict itself was DELICIOUS? the eggs were poached to perfection, the hollandaise was so rich and so good, and it was served on the best English muffin of my life. Very hip place with DELICIOUS drinks! I got the Bartlett Farm Road - a great blueberry vodka/egg white martini (love egg whites in my drinks!). It was so good and beautifully presented. We also had two Mean Eyed Cat Margarita - a great mixture of chili-infused tequila, pomegranate, and cucumber. Very refreshing! Our server was very accommodating. We had one drink that we didn't like and she graciously made a new one to improve our experience. We didn't have time to eat, but the meals looked really interesting and fresh. We ended up getting a gift certificate for our friends so they can go on an upscale date night. Great space, lots of seating, and a nice bar area as well! read more

I was so full when I ate here. You're welcome everyone. Baked brie - ooooey gooey molten center I highly recommend trying it at least once. I know brie is expensive but I thought the price was high, or that the portion was too big... I know it's a sin to say too big, but I really think it is meant to be shared by more than two people, so just split the cost and it's not too shabby. Gnocchi - well cooked and delicious in whatever that sauce was. I enjoyed the pumba (wild boar) that accompanied it and it was simply a solid meal. Rib Tips - Oh heaven these were yummy, the sauce complimented it very well, and the meat was cooked perfectly medium rare. Juicy after juicy bite and I could not stop eating even though my stomach was in severe pain. Mashed potatoes - were gross. But that was my own fault. I did not read the menu, apparently, there is horseradish in them... guess who hates horseradish? Any sane person. Beer was a perfect compliment to the meat. THE VERDICT: Do not think this will be on my list of places to return to in Boston. It was good though, and if you are in Boston a lot, I highly recommend trying it, you might find yourself a new favorite spot. This bar elicited my first yelp review for the sole purpose of writing about how bad it is. The bartender felt the need to mock my date on how she ordered her drink, and we didn't see him again for the rest of our time there. I asked for water, and he said it was coming, but didn't give us glasses. It sat in a closed bottle in front of us until I asked someone else for some. The other bartender, each time I said, "excuse me," looked me in the eye and turned away. Also, our cocktails tasted like a glass of lime juice and a glass of apple cider vinegar. As a bartender myself, if two people ask for the check and push their drinks away, maybe ask if something is wrong. Last thing, and this should say it all, this place has the gall to charge $16 for kettle chips. read more

This is a tough one to judge. I would give 3.5 stars if possible. This is a neighborhood restaurant for me so below are a few general thoughts: Atmosphere: Really like the bar area. It's not huge but does have a decent amount of floor space for when things get busy. The large garage doors are amazing during the warmer months though I wish they wouldn't crank the A/C with them wide open. The seating half of the restaurant is less interesting and it can get fairly loud. Food: Generally pretty good. I have had nothing to rave about though I have strayed from the pricey $35 dishes of exotic meats, so who knows. The turkey tips and with cranberry and fennel is quite good. Drinks: Great beer selection on tap and a pretty cool cocktail list as well. Prices: The biggest downside. This place is overpriced across the board. Every beer is marked up 1-2 bucks compared to other local spots. Most are $9+. The dinner menu can also be a struggle if you're not looking to spend $30+ though admittedly there are some good sandwich options that are reasonable. read more

I enjoyed my late lunch at the Tip Tap Room. They have a very large variety of beers, they are a bit expensive, some are around 8 dollars but others can range up to 15 dollars a beer. The clam chowder was excellent and it better be for $16. They pour the light broth over the bowl tableside, it is filled with tons of big clams and potatoes. I had the lamb burger which was just ok, i am a tatziki freak and was excited to have my burger covered in it but i could barely tell it was on there, maybe they ran out. I enjoyed everything about this restaurant from the moment I got there until the moment I left. I decided to try it because my friend said it was his favorite restaurant in Boston, and I hope I'll have the opportunity to come back. Service was great, and my waitress was very friendly. There was a large beer list, so I asked my waitress for a recommendation. I ended up ordering a citrusy wheat beer. I wish I could remember what it was so I can order it again! For dinner I got the lamb tips with goat cheese potatoes, and it was even better than it looks. The meal was more expensive than I typically spend at dinner, but it was worth every penny. 5/5 would come back and try some of the other items on the menu. read more

This review can only speak to the beverages and quality of service at The Tip Tap Room - I have never had any of their food. But my friends and I came by on a Saturday night to get some drinks to celebrate my birthday. The place was pretty crowded but we managed to grab a spot at the bar. I absolutely loved their massive selection of beers, ciders, and wines. They offer an impressive variety of both bottled and draft beers and ciders. I asked for a taste of their blueberry sour beer and they were more than happy to oblige. Sour beers are my new favorite by the way. Their blueberry sour beer was absolutely phenomenal and I ordered several glasses. It is one of the pricier beers at $14 a glass but in my opinion it was worth it. Their service is fast and their bartenders are friendly. They are more than willing to answer any questions you have or offer you a sample. This is a great spot to grab some drinks with your friends if you find yourself in the Beacon Hill area. read more

After a long afternoon at Mass General, The Tip Tap Room was exactly what we needed. It's not a quiet space, but we knew that from reading the reviews. They have an amazing selection of beer, but we split a bottle of wine. The crowd tends to be significantly younger than me, but that happens almost anywhere we gone in the last 20+ years. We were there for the food and we weren't disappointed. The Tip Tap Room is owned by Brian Poe, and I'm familiar with him because I met him briefly about 10 years ago. I know he can make some damn good food and I wanted some, so we went. We got the Boar Meatballs for an app, and then got an Antelope Burger and the Braised Wild Boar and Gnocchi. It was all delicious though our burger was a bit overcooked. Service was really good too. Our server (the check said Madison B) was quick and efficient, and she had an amazing ability to be there when we needed her without being there when we didn't. Brian, don't lose her! As for everything else, it was all the way it should be. Reservations were easy to make. The restaurant seems very clean and the space inside is nice to look at. One app, one burger, one entree, one bottle of wine, plus tax and tip came to about $130. Not cheap but not overpriced. I'd go back to The Tip Tap room any time but hopefully I won't be spending enough time at MGH to become a regular. read more

Great option for brunch! Large assortment of cocktails, including mocktails. The cold brew coffee is excellent. Tip Tap breakfast was solid, the everything bagel with steak tips was incredibly flavorful and filling, but the highlight were the french toast doughnut holes - oh my goodness, those were decadent! It was a beautiful day so we were able to sit by the open window which added to the experience, and everyone working there was smiling and looked happy to be there. I am a regular here for drinks as well as after work dinner get togethers and I've always loved their delicious food, well made drinks and attentive waitstaff. Went there today for lunch with a colleague and we had their baked brie app and the antelope burger - both delicious. My poor review has to do with the pathetic lunch salad I was served. It was a Kale salad without any chicken or meat - no protein. Tasty but they served a half portion of the plate. I work close to here right now so I've been here twice in the past 6 months for after-work dinners. This is a great place to meet up with colleagues after hours. The atmosphere is lively, and you feel like you're in an upscale bar, lounging, while surrounded by high-energy activity. And the great part that there's also food. I'm all about the lamb burger and a beer after a hard day's work. I got the lamb burger twice because it was very good the first time. The fries are great. This is not really a place that I myself would choose to go to. It's a bit pricy, and I usually like to go out for non-American food. However for the purpose of an after-work dinner in the city, and if you want to meet up with someone for drinks but with a more formal feeling, this is the place. read more

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, with very friendly and accomodating staff! I came here with my extended family to celebrate my sister's birthday. We ordered a few appetizers for the table and then each ordered our own entree dish. Each dish came out fresh and very flavorful. You can definitely tell that the ingredients are fresh and the food is prepared to order. I highly recommend the baked brie, steak burger, and au gratin. The grilled corn is also really good, just wish it came with more (maybe a second ear of corn) for a few more dollars. The beer selection was also outstanding, there were plenty of beers from across the U.S. that I had never heard of, but got to try. I have no idea why this place isn't rated a solid 5 stars overall. We were so impressed by this bar/restaurant! My husband and I recently visited Boston over Valentines Day Weekend. We decided to visit the Tip Tap Room as our first stop on a fun VDay bar crawl, and then we loved it so much, we stayed for apps, dinner, and drinks the whole night! There were at least 20-some beers on tap and a long list of bottles and cans. We aren't from the Northeast, and we were delighted to get some hometown faves, like a beer from Coronado Brewing Company. The bartenders gave us a few tasters based on our beer preferences, which helped us chose a few beers that we hadn't tried before! I loved the saffron beer on tap! The food is superb by any measure, but especially for a bar. We loved the boar meatballs (def get bread for dipping!), the lamb tips, and the steak tips. The ladies room was clean and stocked, and the kitchen looked clean (it's semi-open to the bar). The staff were accommodating, knowledgeable, and prompt. The bar vibe is sort of industrial, yet warm. It seems like a great place for groups, Happy Hour, friends night out, and dates. There are big doors that open to the sidewalk in warmer weather. The bar was super low key when we arrived (around 4pm) and got busier as the night wore on. Several newspapers were available at the bar, and a few singletons enjoyed reading the newspaper while having dinner at the bar. My new Sunday brunch spot! Beautiful almost-outdoor/open air seating, good service, and fresh food made for a really nice experience. Making reservations was a breeze, the hostess was helpful in making sure I had the kind of table I wanted. The waitress was on top of our drink orders and was prompt with our orders and check. The beer selection was above average for sure! The food itself was good quality and obviously fresh. The dishes are pretty traditional American but with some added flavor. A few unique items I would go back for are the lamb burger with tzatziki sauce and a turkey burger with cranberry sauce. This time around I went for eggs Benedict, a classic, and my boyfriend got the avocado toast (really an avocado version of eggs Benedict). Both where better versions of the traditional and came with deliciously spiced potato cubes (home fries). We will be returning! read more

We were looking for brunch in Beacon Hill and ended up on Cambridge Street. Found The Tip Tap Room out of the blue. Had a great table by an open window on a beautiful day. I can only speak for brunch- the Denver Omelet was great washed down with a couple glasses of Pinot Grigio. (They serve other drinks besides beer). Always my go to for a late night bite or just hanging with some friends after work. Since it's close by my work like literally 5 minutes walk to the place. It's stylish and cozy inside. On the summer time they open the windows so it's open to the outside which is really cool! The food selections are unique and tastes amazing. Selection of wine are vast so you got so much selections from the menu. The beer selections and ipa are a lot too if your a beer person. It's a busy night usually on Friday night and Saturday is busy. We were lucky that night since we got seated quick. I got the boar meatballs and two glasses of rosé. My friends got beers which they liked as well. They didn't order food cause they are still full from lunch. My meatballs are tasty, it has a little kick to it which gave it balance. The service was good. Our server was really attentive and catered us well throughout our experience. I know it's not going to be my last time and this is not my first time as well. We walked by this place several times during our four day stay in Boston. We finally got a chance to try it out on Sunday the 26th. We made reservations for the four of us at 5:15 not sure if how busy it would be. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Then we sat down and the disappointment started. We had a hard time getting our drink order going. Then when we finally did the waiter came to say they were out of the cider I wanted to try. He brought a sample of what they had and told us he really liked it. When I tried it and it was not what I liked and told the waiter and that's when it seemed to go down hill. He stopped checking on us and did not get our order right. I had to go to the bar just to get our water glasses filled! Still the waiter did not come to check on us but who I thought was the manager did. The waiter and become not so friendly anymore and seemed put off when we showed him our food order was not right. So sad that this place I had been wanting to try turned out to be not so great. read more

Well not being a person who likes craft beers, it wasn't my first choice. However, when your server tells you we don't have Fireball, you have to question what the heck kind of bar doesn't carry Fireball? Anyway there were plenty of other drinks to pick from. The food was pretty decent, especially the appetizers. My group tried the cauliflower, chicken Bao Buns, Vietnamese Shrimp Spring rolls, & dumplings. All were so awesome, especially the cauliflower with a green chimichurri sauce, wow was that fantastic! It was a whole head of cauliflower! So good! Their Mac & Cheese with Bacon was ok, too saucy & less than 1 strip of bacon. The other items that were ordered didn't really thrill anyone I was with. Not many cleaned plates tonight. Dessert menu was only 3 items & none of them peaked our interest. Brownies with Walnuts, really, with so many people with nut allergies?! Eggnog Cheesecake!?! I forget what the third item was but it didn't make the cut either. Prices were okay but not completely worth what we paid. Since I don't live in Boston I wouldn't come back here the next time I'm in Boston. Recommended not by me, sorry! read more
