We came for the first time on Saturday around 5:30pm, was told to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. We picked a picnic table outside. It was not that busy yet, but it took at least 10-15 minutes before a waitress came by to ask if we have been helped yet, we were just sitting there waiting to order wondering if we needed to order at the bar. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite hot outside so we opted to eat inside. It was pretty busy but we were able to order drinks quickly and we didn't have to wait long for food. We ordered several drinks - the jalapeño margarita was quite refreshing and the old fashioned was very well mixed. We ordered the brisket fries along with sharing some of the fried cod tacos and brisket tacos. Oh man, you gotta try the smoked bbq brisket hash. It's smothered in BBQ sauce, and is tangy, sweet, and flavorful. The southwest chicken salad was excellent too. I haven't seen many places give more chicken than greens. The prices here are reasonable, and our server was very kind and attentive. She even brought us an iced tea refill without us asking. Met a Soror here for dinner on a busy weekend night! Seating is open but there was no available seating inside so we drifted outside. Although it was hot, it wasn't unbearable due to outdoor fans and patio umbrellas. A staff member approached us about 10 mins into our visit and told us to hurry inside for seating, which we did! I enjoyed the salmon with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. I washed it down with a blueberry lemonade cocktail as well as a dragonfruit margarita ( didn't get it spicy). The fish was well seasoned and I only needed a bit of black pepper for my potatoes. We were in town for the Woman Evolve conference and had a break from 1-4 so we headed over here. Upon arrival you could see it was a mad house. We were advised to seat ourselves so we proceeded to the outside area and grabbed a table. We sat for a bit and was never acknowledged so I went inside to grab some help to ask if we could at least have water brought to the table. They young lady was nice and said sure she'll be right over. Once she came over she took our orders which we settled on something quick since the place was in chaos. 3 salads, 1 lobster roll, fries and chips with salsa lemon pepper wings as an appetizer. The 3 salads came out w the chips n salsa while it took forever for the lobster roll to come out. It came out right before we were about to leave. There's no cooking involved so why that took so long had us all confused. We found out while sitting there that it was only 3 servers and they were waiting on more staff to be able to manage the crowd. Now if you keep your ear to the streets you'd be prepared for a time such as this because a lot of people that was at the conference (40,000 ppl) came over to the tipsy oak to eat/drink. Definitely looks like it would be fun when at a live band were to perform. Workers seem friendly and a trendy vibe. My boyfriend and I started off with poutine which was pretty good! Whenever I see poutine on a menu, it's a secret guilty pleasure so I always try it whenever I see it. Poutine comes with the option of adding pork belly for an extra charge, but we kept it simple. There's a little brisket on it already anyhow. Yum! Not the best I've had, but if you're looking for an easy appetizer to get started with, this is a good option. After semi full bellies, we went for the quesadilla and brisket tacos (comes with 3). My quesadilla was good, brisket option was great. The BBQ sauce comes on top, just wish it was blended inside as simple as that sounds. Boyfriend mentioned that the brisket tacos were good too. Our only complaint was wishing they had more brisket options on the menu! Simple brisket. A lot of the dishs had brisket in them, but being from out of town, we were looking for more straight forward brisket options. Great place for our Bar and Eats place in downtown Arlington. The go to snack is the giant pretzel, with a side of the mustard and a side of queso Plenty of good food, more than just hamburgers, they have items like fish and chips, Mac and cheese, tacos and other specials that are well plated. Oh salads, yes they are good also. My go to items are the Korean Bacon burger and the fish and chips. But my gal, she likes the Brisket Hash and a few of the salads. The bar has a ton of beers on tap, I usually go for the Milk Stouts (dragon and temptress). But also like the old standard Shiner (bock and light) Mix drinks and wine for those of you who want to mix it up a bit The atmosphere is great. Usually open seating, and there tables inside and outside. We like the option to either sit at the bar inside or outdoors so we can see the stage Plenty of picnic tables and chairs around the stage to just chill and watch live performances. Let me start off with the positive. The poutine was great. Fries were hot and it was a good start to our lunch. My daughter liked her burger and her fries were hot. My brother in law said his chorizo tacos were really good. My sister said her blackened fish tacos were good. My nephew seemed to enjoy his chicken tenders and fries. My meal was a disappointment to me. I ordered the fish and chips, and my plate was just not cooked properly. When it came I was excited for the big pieces of cod on the plate, but there was raw batter on the inside. They looked golden brown on the outside, but the inside was a let down. I had to pick it off and scrape away the batter from the fish. My fries were not hot and they were soggy and limp like they had not been cooked long enough. The poutine and the other two plates at the table that had fries were cooked through. Coleslaw was basic and not creamy. The tartar sauce tasted like just plain Mayo so I mixed it with the ketchup for some flavor. Maybe it was just a bad day for this particular dish. But I to call it a customer favorite and charge how much they did, it should be a perfected plate. I left a majority of the food on the plate. I would not choose to come back here, but if someone brought me then I would definitely avoid the fish and chips. Visited here while in Texas for a LARGE women's conference and upon arrival, with the uptick of diners, things seemed a bit cumbersome but, the staff worked to get everyone served and things worked out fine. What a Great Gastropub ! Cool atmosphere, Great food and a really nice staff. They have a very good selection of craft beers (over 30) as well as a decent wine list and a full bar. The food is Fantastic ! I had the blackened cod tacos (you can get 2 or 3) and the brisket stuffed grilled cheese sandwich. Both of these were outstanding. The sandwich came with hand cut french fries which were nice and crispy. It looked like the burgers were really good too. They offer 5 oz and 16 oz pours of all their draft brews which gave me an opportunity to try two different IPA's. They have a large outdoor section which also has a stage for live music. The inside is really cool as well as the bar area. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to try several other things on the menu. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it when they have a live band. We went with another couple on a Saturday evening when we had Arlington theatre tickets to see a cover band. The place was packed at 5:30pm and the only place to sit that was covered was on the patio on the West side of the building with the plastic roll up windows. I ordered the cheeseburger and my wife ordered the brisket grilled cheese sandwich. Both items were acceptable but not outstanding. The bill was almost $35.00 and we both had water to drink so after the tip we are at $42.00 for so so food, not very good value. Great place to hangout with friends and listen to live music. It'll be hard to find a good seat on the weekend. I had the lobster roll and it was pretty decent. It was obviously mixed with other seafood to fill up the tiny toast. The coleslaw and fries were pretty good. I also tried the burger and it was pretty plain to me. The alcoholic drinks we had were really weak. We didn't taste any alcohol nor felt anything from them. Service was okay. Food came out pretty quick. I am torn writing this review because this place is great!! The location of the Tipsy Oak is BOOMING!! Tons of offerings all around. Once you walk into this place it is super busy (Friday evening) and it was hoppin'! So much energy and everyone was having a great time. They have inside and outside seating and live music. It is a great place to have drinks and just chill. The service was spectacular once I sat at the bar to order my food to go. I wish I could say the same for the food. Unfortunately the food we ordered was overly greasy. We just didn't like our fish and chips and Monte cristo. They forgot the raspberry jam on the Monte Cristo and the fish was awful.
