I was having kind of a bad week, abd I happened to be down the street from here, so I decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! It was the best part of my week, and while a lot of the cats were snoozing, something about it helped me calm my anxiety down. They just make life so simple. Pet, sleep, drink coffee. I was a little afraid that so many cats in one place my cause my allergies to act up, but it was a good space and didn't feel too "cat" crowded, or people crowded for that matter. Amazing Cat Cafe located off of Garland Rd! I came here looking for a friends lost cat and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They were very helpful and were good about getting our information so they can let us know if they come across or hear about anything! For the Cat Cafe itself, if you've never been, it's like any typical cafe except they have cats hanging out and about like it's a regular day for them. The staff is very warm and friendly and the cats match their energy too. I really do mean you couldn't find friendlier cats to hangout with elsewhere. They also do have a cafe section that serves coffee and non-based coffee drinks like you'd find at any Starbucks. They also have some stuff to pick from if you're hungry as well. Lastly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the whole basis of the cafe is that people who stop in can potentially adopt a cat they like before they leave. So don't be afraid to take one home if you see one you like and hate the idea of not going home with it! read more

Dallas needed a cat cafe! Whiskers and Soda was a wonderful experience! On the morning of my visit, their credit card machine was down, and they graciously agreed to let me in for free and served me coffee and a snack on an "honor system" until they could get their machines back up. Their drink menu was cute... typical espresso drinks all renamed with cat themed names. Their breakfast rolls were uneven in quality- one was delightfully chewy, but another that my friend ordered was crispy and overdone. The dining area is separate from the cat zone, which frankly looks like a kitty paradise with a climbing tree, places to nap, places to hide, cat toys, soothing nature videos and high tech litter boxes to whisk away any unpleasant odors. We couldn't go inside and pet the cats as the owner determined that the 4 young tabby cats were fresh from the animal shelter and still too skittish for visitors. I had a lot of respect for how they clearly put the needs of the animals' welfare first. Whiskers and Soda is a brand new coffee shop and is clearly still working out a number of kinks in their business model, but I'm hoping they succeed and stay in the Dallas area for many years to come. I've adopted 2 cats from here. Such a personable staff, makes the adoption process as heady as it can be!

Overall: recommend! Parking is limited but the inside was not crowded. You can reserve a time slot or show up and register on site, there is a small entry fee charge. All cats are available for adoption! I estimate there were 10-15 cats free roaming in the sitting area of the cafe and ~6 kittens in the kitten room. There is a small coffee bar area separated from the cats by plexiglass, so they aren't walking around the prep area. (Plexiglass over the top too so you may get to peep some beans if you're lucky.) Sitting area has booths, tables and floor space for people to interact with cats. There are obstacles for the cats to climb and toys for the people to interact with them. There is a separate room where the cats can go and relax if they're tired of people, and access to the "rafters" where they can walk around and observe the activity below. You must sign up for the kitten room, just ask a barista. I would do this as soon as you get there or you may not have a chance before your hour is up (you can extend your time though). When we went it was pretty quiet until the end when a smaller child was getting frustrated, but the cats were cool! read more

The cats are really fantastic and it's fun to just sit and watch the ones who will come to you. An excellent way to get your "fill" if you can't have one yourself. If I could give this establishment a zero star I would. BEWARE AND WARNING to anyone wanting to come here/adopt ‼ ALL THE ANIMALS HERE ARE INFESTED WITH FLEAS. Me and my fiancé decided to pay this place a visit since it looked amazing and promising as a cat cafe. We ended up falling in love with a sweet orange cat and agreed to spend 1on1 time with him the next day for the potential to adopt him. The next day we adopted him. It was extremely unprofessional and took over 4 hours just for them to "print out his paperwork". They didn't tell us really anything about him and asked some questions about us and our household. We told them we currently had 2 cats already that are perfectly healthy with no issues. A whole day later (mind you we had him in a room by himself to adjust to our house), sitting with him we saw black dots moving around on his face. Turns out he was INFESTED with fleas. Literally covered in them. We had to spend over $300 just on treating him and now having to treat our house from the fleas jumping everywhere. A few days pasted.. I go into his room to spend time with him and I notice something crawling on my sock, A FLEA. Long story short, it took over a week to get rid of the cat's fleas and we are still getting rid of the fleas in our house. We ended up having to return him today, due to his behavior and destructive tendencies. The business is very unprofessional and RUDE. We brought up everything we had to deal with and they took absolutely no blame, never apologized once, and told us that WE returned him in poor condition, AFTER THE FACT WE HAD TO FIX HIM. Their exact words were "he was greasy and weighed 0.5 less pounds after being returned"... Like are you serious? Maybe he wouldn't be greasy if we didn't have to treat him with flea treatment and bathe him multiple times within the same week to try to save him from getting bit up by an infestation of fleas. Also, he ate when he wanted to. He had free range eating. They want to act so concerned and like they actually keep track of the animals, yet THEY ARE COVERED IN BUGS AND HAVE PARASITES. THEY gave US a cat in poor condition infested with fleas knowing we had other pets. They said they will not be issuing us a refund, which is honestly insane to me considering the condition he was in when we adopted him. In his records it says he's been treated for fleas twice within the past few weeks, yet he was still infested. Everytime we emailed them saying our concerns and taking about the issues at hand they disregarded everything we said and pointed the finger at us, even though they admitted they knew he had fleas beforehand. This was the worst experience ever! You would be better off getting a cat from Petsmart, or off Craigslist. I would NEVER come back or spend a penny here. This place is disgusting inside and out. If you bought a cat here I strongly suggest you check your cat all over! In total we spent $500. $200 on adopting the kitty, $300 to help him get rid of his fleas/worms and treat our house.. Just to have to give him back and be $500 down, once again with no apology or concern for how this was a TOTAL inconvenience for our life. YALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO RUN A CROOKED BUSINESS LIKE THIS AND A BUSINESS THAT ALSO IS VERY UNCLEAN ANIMAL WISE. Poor kitties, and poor people that adopted an infested cat from here. Perfect for an afternoon date, catching up with a friend, or just some overall healing snuggles from adorable furry friends! While the coffee bar wasn't open when we visited (it seems like it was a coffee bar, at least-- full espresso machine set up, cups, and an empty pastry display), they did still have self serve coffee and soda up front. The front desk staff was quite nice and cheery, and seemed genuinely excited that we stopped by! The cats and cafe area are just wonderful; the cats have plenty of room, activities, and spaces to hang, and all the same is available for us humans as well. The kitten room is absolutely precious as well!!! We enjoyed our stay and definitely will be coming back again. Just as an FYI- they do seem to rely on booking ahead on their site, but they also show availability online and allowed walk ins without issue. Going here as a start to our Dallas weekend trip was the best decision ever. The staff working here are extremely kind and welcoming, explaining the process of signing in and putting on the safety boot covers to protect the health of the cats. The amount of effort they put into the setups for the enjoyment of the cats and the guests is admirable - so many toys, beds, climbing shelves along with the cat puzzles, books, and games were so inviting and gave us inspiration for our own fur baby at home! The cafe with the cutest cat-themed names for drinks and the homemade pastries were an amazing plus to an already wonderful experience (I recommend the strawberry-lemon poppyseed muffins) This is an amazing place not only for the solo trippers that want some feline interaction but also for the families that need some time off their feet! The cats are so entertaining and most come right up to wherever you are to say hi and ask for pets. What better way to find your next furry family member than to come play with them and enjoy a delicious beverage? Dawn is fantastic and makes everyone feel welcome. Tammy makes really good lattes, Carolyn, Tim, and the vet team make sure the cats are healthy and well-adjusted, and Dylan keeps the whole facility clean and sanitary. Come check them out and play with a cat even if you aren't wanting to adopt yet. The kitties appreciate the attention and become more socialized. Came here on a Thursday afternoon with no reservation (you have to become a member to place one) but got in right away. I think the capacity is 30 based on the live count on their website, however, I think more than 12 people in there is a bit much. The place is quaint and most of the cats were sleeping so the ones that were active had a lot of people coming around them. The place seems to really care about the cats, and seem to take good care of them. There's also a kitten room, but I find that putting something like a time restriction for how long you can stay there could be helpful as it's only 4 at a time. The coffee is okay, you're obviously not there for food or drinks. I like that their cups are compostable. However, I do have to note the cats roam within the kitchen area which is a little... whatever. Overall cute cats and place! read more

Looking at other reviews, this seems very common. All my boyfriend and I could do was laugh at her... Anyway, as a cat owner, this cafe is potentially dangerous. We came during a birthday party. The already small room was extremely loud and swarming with children under 10. Very stressful for the cats... Snd the party brought in pizza and chocolate cupcakes, two foods that are not cat-safe. There was no monitoring or regulation with the food. Way too crowded and loud as a customer and for those poor cats who had children literally chasing them down and screaming. This is the best cat cafe I have ever been to in my life. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the kitties are too! They have the CUTEST merch for purchase and their coffee menu has cat themed drinks with the cutest names as well as DELICIOUS bakery items and cat cookies. The decor and layout so well thought out and absolutely purrfect! Each table has toys for kitties and a cat themed book or puzzle. There are plenty of places for the cats to sit lounge and play and they are SO well taken care of. There's a little bio wall with background information on each cat and all the cats are adoptable. This was our first stop upon visiting Texas for the first time and boy did it set the tone. We visited another cat cafe in Austin and nowhere else compares. Hidden gem in Dallas! I never had seen something quite like a cat cafe and I am sure there are no other ones in Dallas. I was not sure I had to pay to get in but the owner (who was extremely friendly) let me get a preview of the cafe which was really nice of him. I loved everything about it. They really do care about the cats and help them feel comfortable given the fact that they only let 30 people in at a time and probably why they have reservations I would definitely go and be more prepared next time! I'd like to start by stating that I love your mission. I want to continue to support you in finding loving homes for your fur babies, but the community deserves to know this. Everyone we've interacted with at Whiskers and Soda has been so kind and accomodating, except for one individual. I am reviewing to echo what reviewer Farh C. said. My children were complimented by multiple adults on how well behaved they were during our visit. However, one female employee reprimanded them during each of our visits (we've been there several times) and made us all feel very uncomfortable. We weren't breaking any rules. The children were being gentle with the kitties, cautious of their surroundings, and using appropriate voice levels. We did not deserve this sort of treatment. We thought she was just discriminating against people with kids, but I've also witnessed her snap at adults because they were holding kittens that approached them, climbed onto their laps and fell asleep. I do believe this will continue to happen because others have had the same experience. Maybe a role that is behind the scenes would be a better fit for her, rather than a customer facing role. Finally, I'd like to take a moment to shout-out our barista. She was so patient and kind with my kids. She took time to interact with us and introduce all the kitties to us by name. Expected way more cats though, the place is tiny and there aren't enough cats or much to do to spend more than 20-30 minutes there, plus you have to pay a $5-$40 monthly member fee even to attend once. Oh, and the young girl at the register inside the cafe was kinda rude when my daughter kept changing her mind about the cat cookie we were buying. Maybe she was having a bad day, but my kid was just five and I took her for her birthday, I probably won't return. And I only remembered about this place because I again got charged the monthly fee. Whiskers and Soda was a cool, eclectic place! Once you go inside the building, you have to fill out paperwork for a walk-in reservation and put on sleeves to go over your shoes once you enter the main room. The staff was really nice and friendly. The main room had lots of places where the cats could roam and you can also pet the cats as well. There is also another room full of kittens (as seen in the images attached) and anyone was allowed in the room to pet the kittens. Outside of this room, they also have a bird where they show the cats that are up for adoption, which I thought was a good way of getting people to adopt a cat! The staff takes really good care of their cats and they maintain a clean environment. The cafe inside the main room was also good! The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. They have pastries, sandwiches, cookies, coffee, and other small cat shaped treats which was really neat! Overall, I enjoyed going to Whiskers and Soda and I recommend going if you are a cat person!
