I have had this place on my "list to try" for a while now, and I am so glad I finally tried it! I was so pleased with my experience and all of the staff there. The moment I walked in the door, I knew I would be back, even before trying the food. I was greeted by about 5 staff members as I entered and it was just such a warm welcome. I came on a Tuesday evening and I had pre ordered a strawberry smoothie, peach mango smoothie, chicken pesto penne pasta, and chicken Alfredo. All of the ingredients in both the food and drinks were just so fresh and delicious. I returned on a Thursday afternoon to try the salad to give a proper review. I had the chicken Caesar salad and added avocado and bacon, and it was really good! Even the dressing is house made. The portion size was good as well. I also tried their fresh mango juice, and it wasn't very sweet but it tasted very delicious. This place has healthy options that still taste good, with great customer service. There is parking available for the place right out front. There is indoor and outdoor seating available as well. The place was clean inside when I came.

I finally had time to sit down and do this review I've ordered from them a couple of times after my daughters told me about the place - and let me tell you... The Toss Up! They always Boss Up! Let's start with the packaging - because presentation begins before the first bite. It's like trying to get into Fort Knox You literally have to cut your way in, and I LOVE that. It guarantees your food is sealed, fresh, and not tampered with. Now let's talk about the food... whew! Whether it's their fresh, delicious salads or these humongous, fully loaded potatoes, the quality is always on point. Everything is flavorful, well-seasoned, and made with care. And that chili?! I don't know if it's homemade, but it definitely tastes like it. And if it's not - keep doctoring it up, because it is DELICIOUS! Rich, hearty, and full of flavor. Thank you, The Toss Up! Because like JJ would say... well, if you know, you know; DY-NO-MITE!

For a $10 smoothie (LG) $7 (reg) with limited smoothie options I was expecting something super yummy. My group and I were in the area and saw smoothies advertised outside, we swung by and thought our drinks were a little too sweet and not as fresh/tropical as we expected (I know, it's more of a food spot nor a tropical food spot) but a girl can dream! My friends green drink was okay, she got the regular size and ended up throwing away the last of it. lots of seating and no wait. Great customer service from the gentleman in the front & menu options! I'd come back to try the food options but skip the smoothie.

Walking into The Toss Up for the first time to a warm greeting by owner Rick and teamsters. Food and drinks are amazing. Lots of flavor in this healthy comfort food. Now one of my go-to spots when I return home to visit.

I ordered the salmon and shrimp over the broccoli cheddar baked potato with extra broccoli cheddar sauce . I have been here several times and the food is always delicious and full of flavor and the customer service is amazing. The owner has been there each time and I didn't expect him be as nice or as welcoming and as he was as most owners are more behind the scenes. he makes you feel like family when you walk in, their hospitality is next level. The place is always neat and clean a great place to dine in alone or with family and friends. I would definitely recommend this place again and again!

The very first thing that I noticed was the cleanness of this Establishment and the warm warm welcoming smiles along with the greeting. The Service of the cashiers that have assisted me have been Stellar each one has assisted me with making my choices from their menu very knowledgeable and clear with their ingredients and even letting me know that their salads can also become a wrap if you like. So far I have eaten the Cobb Salad and the Baja Wrap both are very yummy the chili and the Clam Chowder soup are amazing The specialty drink I had was also delicious can't think of the but it's looks like maybe pineapple. Over all you can dine in the atmosphere is great! Clean you can watch your food being prepared with a little music and Television to keep you company and the staff sometimes walks around and offer you samples of their soups and specialty drinks and the owner Kevin even comes from behind the counter to make sure everything is OK Most importantly the owner hires young ladies and men from the community. The Toss Up definitely has a FOR LIFE CUSTOMER the Soup Salads and Wraps are Amazing with homemade salad dressings and sauces

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu since it was our first time. I love the idea of a fast casual eatery that has healthy options. And I don't think I've seen another place in the area that has big baked potatoes on their menu! The food was tasty, the space was clean and I loved that they were playing 90s/2000s R&B videos on the screen. No issue parking in the adjacent lot when we arrived, but I could see it getting a bit busy during lunch times with other restaurants in the same plaza. Looking forward to coming back!

When you're in the mood for something healthy yet tasty, The Toss Up has been my go-to for salads! They have a good variety of set options or you can build your own. My favorite is their Baja Salad. It comes with romaine, mixed greens, corn, black beans, red onion, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and grilled chicken. I appreciate the variety of fresh ingredients in this salad! It usually comes with a spicy jalapeno dressing, but I prefer their BBQ Ranch. "The Toss Up" Cobb is pretty good as well. This one has romaine, cherry tomatoes, avocado, hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, roast turkey, bacon, and red onions. All of their salads come with a piece of flat bread. too. Their pre-set salads are definitely a better deal than if you try to select each ingredient when you build your own bowl. Another thing I like about The Toss Up is they have other pasta, baked potato, and soup options in case you feel like you need something extra on top of a salad. We tried their Loaded Baked Potato Bowl and their Cheddar Broccoli Baked Potato Bowl, and they were HUGE! Definitely good for sharing. We usually order online ahead of time, and the estimated wait time always seems oddly long, but sometimes when we get to the restaurant, there aren't too many people there. Not sure if the estimated pick up time system needs to be calibrated?

Tried this place for dinner while in Long Beach and not only was the food amazing but the staff and service were fantastic. We ordered the loaded backed potato which is large enough to feed 2 People. They spared NO bacon on it and the flavor was great. We also ordered the Baja chicken salad with jalapeño ranch dressing and this dressing made the salad. It had the perfect spice level and was the perfect consistency. I only wish they sold it in-store so I could take it home. While we were eating we were served samples of their soup which included chilli, tortilla, tomato and basil, and clam chowder. ALL of the soups were delicious but my favorite was the tomato and basil. I needed a grilled cheese sandwich, a blanket, and my favorite TV show to top off that soup. Lastly we were greeted by a gentleman named Rick. Not sure if he's the owner or chef but he was so warm and friendly and made our visit even better. I highly recommend this location, the food, and the great people that work there.

My Mistake! You ever go to a restaurant and they do things sooo good/right you realize you judged them against previous *meh* experiences? Well, that's what I realized today. I stopped in to pick up lunch for myself and my family. I ordered two shrimp alfredos and two cesar salads. I always get my salads with the dressing mixed in. I'm used to places having watery dressing with barely any flavor so I just assumed The Toss Up would kinda be the same, especially because this is a cesar dressing (and yes, I've been here before to dine in and got the dressing mixed in then too, to the Thai salad). By the time I got home (after making a stop), my salad had wilted a bit and my croutons were not as chrunchy. I'm not mad about it because THE FLAVOR!!!!! OMG!!! this cesar dressing is amazing! Creamy, sumptuous, heavy in the best way possible. Every bite of lettuce, parmesan cheese, chicken, and crouton had dressing on it. And I even ordered an extra dressing! As always, service was great. Such friendly, chatty, kind folks work here. Expect to be greeted when you walk in and get a friendly "bye, see you later" when you leave. I was in to The Toss Up on Friday, June 13 and had a great experience. The Thai salad was so flavorful and full of everything fresh and crunchy--veggies and peanuts. We were greeted warmly by the owner who explained the menu to us in detail. My friend and I split the spaghetti and meatballs and I can't recall the last time I had pasta this good. This first experience was just soooo positive it's why I came back. I wanted another delicious meal and wanted my family to know what I've been raving about.

On this grey So Cal day I was feeling too lazy to make my own salad. I was hungry, my bestie had time to spare so we headed to The Toss Up for a soup and salad lunch. I love when I'm greeted upon entering a restaurant, it's an acknowledgement that creates a positive experience right from the start. We approached the counter and placed our orders. Simple, straight forward and despite a tiny error that was easily fixed, the process was painless. Our salads, soups and beverages arrived and we dug in. My Baja salad was super yummy - the creamy jalapeño dressing was so good - it has a kick and I loved it. Her Santorini salad was equally yummy and both of us agreed we'd order them again. The broccoli cheddar soups were hot and tasty and we loved that the cheddar tasted authentic - not one of those afterthought soups thrown on a menu to check a box. The chunks of broccoli were perfect in size and the only thing I would have liked to have was a sprinkling of pepper. The service was superb. Friendly and personable which makes the experience even better. These days I don't mind paying more for food if the service is top notch. Would have liked the soda to be accessible for refills. You're given a plastic lid to cover your bowl for leftovers - we didn't have anything to take home, so the lids went unused and became waste. Overall, the menu is loaded with options and coupled with the service, I would visit again. Oh! Almost forgot to mention the R&B music playing in the background! That made the visit memorable. Keep on, keeping on The Toss Up!

Just what I was looking for - a salad joint that's straightforward, decently priced, and delicious. People here are so nice too! Super friendly service. Healthy salad choices with just the right amount of salt and seasoning. I ordered the beef stro salad and at first the presentation is meh but there was more meat underneath and more bacon and all the flavors combined lead to a great flavor profile. This was our first time trying The Toss Up. My friend had a salad at work when her company ordered it a month ago. So we decided to try it. First, we were greeted by the owner and his pleasant smile. He explained the menu and gave us samples of two drinks. We decided on two wraps. We ordered and waited about 10 minutes. The vibe in the restaurant is warm and welcoming. Good oldies R&B music playing and the staff seemed happy to be working. That's always great to see happy employees. We got our food and realized they gave us one wrap and one salad. We didn't ask to change it because we knew the salad would be good. We were just disappointed because the young man who took our order did not pay close attention to what we asked for. Now we know to ask them to repeat our order before we pay. Even though we didn't get two wraps, we were very happy with our food. The salad actually lasted us for two more meals. I wish we had thought to take pics. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We will be back! read more

Was waiting on my food order from a nearby restaurant and decided to walk into this spot to see what they offered and was warmly greeted by the owner. The lady behind the counter ran through the entire menu for me and even gave me samples of the different lemonades. Mind you, I was only going in to look at what they offered and ended up walking away with a Thai salad, a loaded baked potato, a cheddar broccoli soup and a mango smoothie. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I've never had such a huge loaded potato!! These guys deserve a 10 out of 10 from the customer service to the food. Love this place! They have amazing customer service and really great food. I had the Texas Smokehouse salad and my daughter had the spaghetti. We both loved our food. The salads are HUGE! I spoke with the own Rick very nice man. He offer me samples of 4 of his soups. I told him I'm not really a soup person only when I sick. Chili, Chicken tortilla, Tomato Bisque, Clam Chowder this is the order I tasted the soups all taste delicious. He also give the customer's inside sample of a dessert. I ordered the Shrimp Alfredo and the Chicken Pesto Penne nice portion of food eat some now save some later. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS!!! Randomly found this place after a workout looking for dinner and wanting to feel "healthy". The cashier was kind enough to give us the lowdown on their menu offerings since we were first timers and even gave us some samples of their fresh juices since it was later at night after the dinner rush. While we waited for our food the owner was also kind enough to bring some samples of all their soup offerings as well. The longest I've had to wait for a salad, but it was so worth it. Wanted to get something on the healthier side after a workout so we stopped by. We were debating between getting smoothies, acai bowls, or salads, and this place has all three! We got the "Beef" Stro salad and a Strawberry Mango smoothie. One of the best smoothies I've had in a while. The "Beef" Stro salad was really good too. The protein to salad ratio was perfect. Practically everything on the menu is customizable. Staff was really welcoming and let us sample some of the drinks and the acai. Make sure to check in for the free fountain drink. If we weren't so full, we would've gotten an acai bowl to go. Parking took a second, since it's a smaller lot and some of the spots are reserved for other restaurants' curbside pickup. Inside, there's plenty of space to sit and you can actually see the staff prepare your meal. Will definitely be coming back (especially after workouts) for what we had this time and to try other items on the menu, including acai bowls, pasta, and drinks. read more

This place is amazing. The food, the staff, the menu and atmosphere are pleasant and pleasing to all of the senses. I have not been disappointed yet and I dawned the doors for the first time a couple years ago now. The owner Rick is super attentive to the customers it makes you think about how you're not being treated at other places. The pork itself was super gingery without being too pungent. The shredded cabbage was super easy to pick up and eat and the side of noodle salad and miso soup were great complements to the meal. I can tell no corners were cut anywhere and that Otafuku puts a little of effort into every meal they prepare. There is great care for all of the preparations and it was a very special meal. On my first visit, one of the employees was so friendly and took the time to explain the menu, offering great suggestions. The next day, I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, who was equally kind. He even let me sample the dressings to find my favorite and offered a taste of the soup, which was a nice touch. This is my first time but I saw this beautiful building and sign and was drawn to it. I had been wanting to eat more healthier living a healthy lifestyle especially during the given circumstances of health problems during the pandemic. I ordered the chicken Caesar and decided to get fancy and substituted the chicken for shrimp. Absolutely mouth watering!!! I almost ordered one to go lol. My girlfriend ordered a strawberry mango smoothie that we both shared and I ended up getting one to go. She also ordered the Beef stro which she loved and was delicious with a tasty lingering flavor!. I am going to tell so many people about this place. Sooo I just wanted to say that I was told about this new hot spot in Gardena called The Toss up. It's a new customized salad restaurant. let me just say this place is awesome!. So many good food options. I came in earlier this evening and ordered a Baja salad and a build your own salad for me and my boyfriend. Both salads were very delicious! The jalapeño dressing and house made ranch tasted amazing as well! Not to mention, they have such a sweet and great staff that greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. Thank goodness! finally a customized salad restaurant in the south bay . I had lunch at The Toss Up today. Let me just say, not only was the logo and place beautiful. But the entire set up, salad choices and location is perfect. My wife, kids and I had the mango pineapple smoothies along with the Toss Up Cobb salad, the chicken Caesar and the shrimp alfredo. We thought everything was absolutely delicious!! Also Blanche helped me with my order. She was awesome. The entire staff and service was great! I will tell many people about this place. I just had the most incredible experience! From the second I stepped inside, I was warmly greeted by the cashier who asked if it was my first visit. Once I mentioned it was, they happily walked me through the menu and even offered me a few mouthwatering samples! The owners are absolutely delightful, and the employees radiate such positive energy. We are recommended to try this place from our staffs. A few of them has been coming here regularly. We also have been here a few times already. We kept coming back more !!
