This was my first time here at the Toss up they open in Nov.2021 they're located in a L shape strip mall with other restaurants, so parking can be a bit of a challenge. We were greeted by the owner / manager Rick who welcome us in and explain to us the whole menu which took about 5 mins. and he did the same thing to every customer who came in, the place in bright with two TV's, bench seating, tall table and chairs, one long community table plus reg. tables. We ordered the toss up cobb salad with shrimp, and a small naan bread, this was a huge mouthwatering plus delicious, plus spaghetti with chicken in marinara sauce with parmesan cheese, this was so yummylicious good! the rest of the order was chicken tortills soup, they bring your food to your table. The only thing that I was displeased with the service, after they brought the food out they forgot the drinks, I tried to get someone attention, after about 15 mins. So I have been here plenty times but today I tried a sample of the Tomato Bisque Soup and I HADDDDDDD to leave a review. It was soooooo bomb. Besides that I have had the Chili, the Broccoli Cheddar soup as well but the tomato was the killlleerrrr. The service as soon as you walk thru the door, is what every establishment should have. Makes you feel welcomed and like this is a family passed down passion. The tables and the colors are sooooo warming as well makes it almost impossible to take the food to go. First, Aliyah and Mr. Rick's customer service is bar non the best service I have received from an establishment. It compares to the Ritz Carlton, no cap. They both gave us a full breakdown of the menu and explained everything great, while offering free samples. Second, they checked in on you regularly to make sure everything was good, which is non-existent in most casual dining. You can tell they take pride in their work. Third, the food itself was fresh, great and beyond expectations. This will be a regular staple in my restaurant circulation. Great job Mr. Rick and Aaliyah - see you soon. read more

The food is amazing, fresh, tantalizing. Small family owned business. All the food was fresh. Sushi quality ahi tuna! Yes. Super big portions.They were super busy but my food still arrived promptly. Just what I was looking for - a salad joint that's straightforward, decently priced, and delicious. People here are so nice too! Super friendly service. Healthy salad choices with just the right amount of salt and seasoning. I ordered the beef stro salad and at first the presentation is meh but there was more meat underneath and more bacon and all the flavors combined lead to a great flavor profile. I come here relatively often for lunch. First of all, the food is great. The salads are also really good as wraps, and don't sleep on the soups- especially the chili. Other than the food, what sets The Toss Up apart is simple, old-school hospitality that seems to have vanished in most establishments sometime during the COVID era. In a world where customers are often treated as an inconvenience, it's refreshing to be welcomed by staff that seem genuinely happy that you're there. I've ordered DoorDash from this place quite a few times and let me tell you...they are so CONSISTENT!!! It's great every single time. This was our first time trying The Toss Up. My friend had a salad at work when her company ordered it a month ago. So we decided to try it. First, we were greeted by the owner and his pleasant smile. He explained the menu and gave us samples of two drinks. We decided on two wraps. We ordered and waited about 10 minutes. The vibe in the restaurant is warm and welcoming. Good oldies R&B music playing and the staff seemed happy to be working. That's always great to see happy employees. We got our food and realized they gave us one wrap and one salad. We didn't ask to change it because we knew the salad would be good. We were just disappointed because the young man who took our order did not pay close attention to what we asked for. Now we know to ask them to repeat our order before we pay. Even though we didn't get two wraps, we were very happy with our food. The salad actually lasted us for two more meals. I wish we had thought to take pics. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We will be back! read more

The longest I've had to wait for a salad, but it was so worth it. Wanted to get something on the healthier side after a workout so we stopped by. We were debating between getting smoothies, acai bowls, or salads, and this place has all three! We got the "Beef" Stro salad and a Strawberry Mango smoothie. One of the best smoothies I've had in a while. The "Beef" Stro salad was really good too. The protein to salad ratio was perfect. Practically everything on the menu is customizable. Staff was really welcoming and let us sample some of the drinks and the acai. Make sure to check in for the free fountain drink. If we weren't so full, we would've gotten an acai bowl to go. Parking took a second, since it's a smaller lot and some of the spots are reserved for other restaurants' curbside pickup. Inside, there's plenty of space to sit and you can actually see the staff prepare your meal. Will definitely be coming back (especially after workouts) for what we had this time and to try other items on the menu, including acai bowls, pasta, and drinks. read more

Come through Black Owned business with healthy options! The staff was super friendly and the owners were very hands on and helpful. The place was busy the entire time I was sitting and eating. Bathroom was clean and the place was clean as well. My salad was 10/10 and a very healthy portion of food. I will say they could give a bigger piece of pita. Was waiting on my food order from a nearby restaurant and decided to walk into this spot to see what they offered and was warmly greeted by the owner. The lady behind the counter ran through the entire menu for me and even gave me samples of the different lemonades. Mind you, I was only going in to look at what they offered and ended up walking away with a Thai salad, a loaded baked potato, a cheddar broccoli soup and a mango smoothie. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I've never had such a huge loaded potato!! These guys deserve a 10 out of 10 from the customer service to the food. I really wished I hadn't paid for my order at the other restaurant because I would've come back inside to order more food. I will definitely be back!! read more

After waiting more than 15 minutes and watching several customers who ordered after us receive their food first, I had to ask about the status of my order. What made the delay even more frustrating was that we had frozen groceries in the car that needed to be taken home. Despite living less than half a mile away, we'll gladly make the longer drive to another Beach Bowls location in the future for better service and a more enjoyable experience.

I'm really glad I don't need to switch shops because the location is convenient and I liked everything about my previous orders except those irritating bits of miniature concrete I kept chewing on when I ordered the bowls with cherry. If you enjoy keeping your teeth whole, you might also want to bypass that particular flavor.

On my first visit, one of the employees was so friendly and took the time to explain the menu, offering great suggestions. This is my first time but I saw this beautiful building and sign and was drawn to it. I had been wanting to eat more healthier living a healthy lifestyle especially during the given circumstances of health problems during the pandemic. Sooo I just wanted to say that I was told about this new hot spot in Gardena called The Toss up. It's a new customized salad restaurant. let me just say this place is awesome!. So many good food options. I came in earlier this evening and ordered a Baja salad and a build your own salad for me and my boyfriend. Both salads were very delicious! Thank goodness! finally a customized salad restaurant in the south bay . I had lunch at The Toss Up today. Let me just say, not only was the logo and place beautiful. But the entire set up, salad choices and location is perfect. My wife, kids and I had the mango pineapple smoothies along with the Toss Up Cobb salad, the chicken Caesar and the shrimp alfredo. I can't speak to the tacos sold at a place that does drinks as I haven't tried them, but I can say the following: Ambiance (3/5): Small but cute, they don't skimp on AC even as it's a sunny little shop. Great for studying if you're able to nab a seat; they have three tables that seat 4 (maybe 5 if you bunch up on the bench). The natural lighting makes it pretty nice to so some work in there. They have an extension cord with multiple outlets tucked in the corner under the corner table. Service (4/5): Server was friendly and quick. I'm glad he asked if regular milk was okay because it reminded me that it's not for my husband. It's a small thing but it's appreciated! I also loved the little surprise of getting some extra smoothie in a small cup, perfect for my daughter. Why can't other shops be like this? Appreciate it! Drink (4/5): The strawberry banana smoothies tasted fresh. Real fruit bits and not overly sweet or artificial tasting. My husband and I both noted that it had great flavor. My only gripe was that it was still a bit icy; it was hard at times sucking the smoothie out of the boba straw we used. If it were blended fully and smoothly, I would say it would be near perfect. Would we come back? Based on this experience, if we need a quick stop for a drink before the freeway, this makes for a good stop. I wouldn't mind trying out one of their match drinks next time (those look pretty good)!
