My first time going today... awesome visit... Rick explained the menu to me which made my ordering so much easier after watching Facebook I had to go see this place. This place is delicious! I usually go to simply salad but it was nice to try a new spot nearby. I've been twice and going back. They have a ton of options and their pasta salad is delicious. I'm vegan/vegetarian and I like their vegan salad. They also have WiFi and outlets available for digital workers. The only things are that it's much more expensive than simply salad. Simply salad is around abt $16 for a salad with modifications (adding ingredients,etc) and Toss Up is closer to abt $21-$26 with modifications. Which is unfortunate but normal for starting up in this economy smh. And also, some of their dressings/sauces don't really hit as much. Almost like it's missing an ingredient or two to make the flavor pop in your mouth. Not quite sure what it is but just sharing. The chimichurri and the spicy jalapeño dressings have the most flavor to me. The Greek feta vinaigrette is good but veryyy light. I think it's missing something. The tomato bisque soup is yummy. (Unashamedly) my husband and I have been here about 6 times in the last two weeks, and each time we were never disappointed. Every salad we have tried so far seemed so simple but tasted amazing. The pasta salad tastes just the way my mother in law makes it, and the spaghetti and meatballs was better than a more famous chain Italian restaurant ‍ that shall remain nameless. Hello I went here with my SisterFriend Josie on Tuesday 5.6.2025. It was our first time there. When we said it was our first time there the manager was brought out and he explained the menu to us and he welcomed us as well. The salads were delicious. The atmosphere in the place was awesome they played music that was very nice and the video was playing. The colors are green and brown very beautiful. The staff was polite and professional. A group of teenagers and it was great seeing them working and making a difference in other people's life and their own life as well. I had the toss up Cobb and Josie had a make it your own salad she's vegan I'm not. Well anyway. When I tell you that the salad was super fresh sheesh it was awesome I did not need any extra dressing at all. Dressing was all within my salad and there was none of that big chunky middle in the salad at all. I bought enormous delicious potato to take home. This place just might be my new favorite salad spot. So much better than Sweet Green!! I was recommended to come here by a friend and I'm glad I did. The food here is incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The customer service was also amazing. The owner came out to walk me thru the menu and let me sample some of their drinks. I ended up ordering the baked potato bowl, Cobb salad and Baja salad. The Baja salad had a nice kick to it and the Cobb salad had a really addicting dressing that made me want to come back for more. The baked potato bowl was by far my favorite and is a must try when you come. The wait was a little long, but it was definitely worth it. A great casual spot to come for a quick bite to eat. I ordered a wrap (can't remember the name) but it was with steak and chimichurri sauce etc. The sauce was so vibrant with the perfect combination of oil and greens. The kids behind the counter are super friendly and helpful. The owner, Rick, was very welcoming too. He even came around with little samples of soup to every table. And MY GOD, even the soup was to die for, especially the tomato and tortilla. I was positive he went to culinary school because the flavors of the soups were so perfect. I was asked if this was my first time here and since it was the gentleman explained to me the entire menu and what they offered it's more than salad. I've never tasted a Beef/Bowl where the flavor and taste is minced in with the Rice "jalapeno Ranch Dressing Delicious. The Steak Grilled and with great flavors and seasonings. I came across this gem of a relatively newer business by driving by it regularly and from a friend that recently recommended this place. It is a great new place in the South Bay area that fills a restaurant void for simply a great salad or hot delicious soup. They also have wraps, bowls, smoothies and fountain drinks to choose. I ordered the cobb salad which was decent albeit a bit smaller looking than I anticipated at $13. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. I liked the honey mustard dressing that came with the salad either tossed or on the side. The perfectly cubed processed turkey was also good, but can be questionably argued as being "healthy". Overall, though, the food here is a nice fresh alternative to the usual chain and fast food spots. Where this place needs improvement is in its service. The family-owned restaurant is friendly, but getting your food can be a bit on the slow side. I will attribute it to them still being new during the covid pandemic and not quite getting their "assembly line" together. You order your food at the counter and either stand around and wait for your "to go" order or sit at one of the tables and wait for them to call your name. I think waiting over 15 minutes at non-peak hours for my cobb salad when there are only 3 other customers in the place is a bit excessive. I can't imagine what it is like if they had a huge capacity lunch crowd. I just wouldn't come here if you are in a hurry unless you call your order in well in advance. The Toss Up has great potential and I will certainly check it out again in the future after their "grand opening" period and see if they are able to make any improvements in their order execution process. read more
