From the time we hit the door we were greeted with a warm welcome, the entire menu was shared with all the hidden secrets behind the in house dressing to the preparation of each dish. We ordered the Pesto Chicken pasta, which was fire, and the salad was absolutely delicious, Texas Smokehouse w/chicken. Very reasonable and made with care. Wow. Such an amazing establishment. The owners were there tonight during my visit with my husband and they provided the kind of customer service that you don't get anymore. They explained the menu to us and checked up on us during our meal. The portions were huge and filling. There were also a lot of different items to choose from. The Toss Up, a salad company, seems to not understand salads. The place looked nice, but the food was absolutely a disappointment. Salads should be works of art. Salads should be flavorful and substantial. My salad was neither of these. Upon entry, I was asked if I'd been there before. I said no, and so the cashier called over a middle aged man to explain the menu. This took 3 to 4 minutes, way too long. They gave samples of two drinks, one of which straight up tasted like Dimetapp (look it up). I was also given a sample of chili, which seemed to be OK, so I ordered it. For my salad, I ordered the "create your own" with grilled salmon, kalamata olives, onions, blue cheese, eggs, and mushrooms. First, they forgot my egg. Second, they gave me ONLY NINE OLIVE SLICES. I counted nine regular Subway-style black olive SLICES that they insisted were Greek Olives. This shows just how little they know about their own ingredients. There was barely onion and cheese. There were maybe 5 mushroom slices. The salmon portion was a decent size, but I found it inedible. They grilled it with NO SEASONING. Speaking of no seasoning, the chili was BLAND. The amount of cheese was so small that it must've only been intended for garnish. I do not, ever, recommend. I know that I can find better salads nearly anywhere else. read more

So happy I did, chicken was flavorful and juicy, pasta was perfect and the pesto sauce was amazing. Not to mention the exceptional customer and they are black owned! Aside from being super friendly and welcoming, the food was incredible. We sampled the soup and chili and ended up ordering both. The chili on the baked potato was enormous! The salads look delicious as do the homemade dressings. I will try one of these next time. Clean space with plenty of seating. My husband and I recently went to The Toss up for the first time and I must say first off the great customer service we encountered was a breath of fresh air which is hard to find these days. All staff was so nice and everyone makes sure to not only acknowledge but speak to you. The ambience was very comfortable and offered a few samples. Very delicious!! I left a review because of the outstanding customer service & great food. The owner later responded to my review!!! This just shows that he takes extra effort to take care of his customers. I wish investors would take note of his dedication & help expend the restaurant to other locations, like Arcadia so I don't don't have to drive far to eat at this clean, friendly and healthy restaurant. A side note. The restaurant closes on Saturdays because that's the only day the owner could spend time with his grandchildren. I have never heard of restaurants closing on the busiest day of a week. Hidden Gem in the city. The menu is healthy and hearty with many choices of handcrafted salads, soups, bowls, pastas, juices acai bowls and you can build your own. The staff are service oriented and the atmosphere is warm and wholesome. They are generous with sampling the different soups. I had the Texas Smokehouse salad. It was filling and I did not feel heavy after the meal. Ill be back to try more items. read more

Walked in and were immediately greeted by Rick (owner) who proceeded to explain the menu and how it worked. Rick also gave us samples of the various drinks and soups. We ordered the Ahi salad and the Cobb salad, dressing tossed and extra on the side, along with the 8 ounce cup of tortilla soup. The salad portions are filling, fresh ingredients, with tasty dressings. The tortilla soup was also very tasty. The restaurant is clean, friendly staff, and accommodating. The menu selection is extensive, including bowls, and pasta dishes. This is one place where we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend it! read more

Haven't been in the area for years since the pandemic and decided to try this new spot that took over. Looks to be a family run business. We support small local mom and pop shops and wanted to give them a try. It was clearly our first time trying to figure out their menu and the gentleman that introduced the entire menu, explained to us how everything worked. Though we appreciated the effort, it was long winded and by the time he was still explaining the middle, I had already read through the entire menu. Overall the presentation was great. The food looked presentable and nicely plated. The portion is also decent. The place had nice clean dining area, accompanied by nostalgic 90s and 2000s era R&B and hip hop music. That being said--there are a few things however that will make us not return. The food took a while to arrive for just salads and wraps. The idea of building your own salad was a nice touch, but it was daunting and overwhelming having to look through so many ingredients and the add ons does add up and you'll have a $15-$20 salad by the time you're done. Upon entering the vibe inside was okay. The staff making the food behind the counter could be a lot more friendlier. They were kind of nonchalant and unenthusiastic. No energy or uplifting warm welcome. After they had sold us on the menu and deciding to eat there, there was no rapport thereafter. Once we got the food, it ended there. There was no feedback on their end asking us how the food and experience was. Took awhile to get a lid for the salad. The wrap looked like it had no avocado. When asking the guy behind the counter, he insisted it was buried in there but also admitted he initially forgot to put it in there. Also, the wrap barely had any avocado, it was so skimpy it was unnoticeable and it was brown and old. The worse part of this review is that my partner got sick from the food. I wasn't sure if it was food poisoning. I have a feeling he was given dairy instead of the vegan caesar. We are plant-based and explained that in the begin of our order. Everything we ordered was supposed to be vegan/vegetarian. It was the only food eaten that day and it made him sick for hours. He was so sick he wasn't able to join our family dinner later that evening. He was vomiting and threw up everything he ate from that place. Luckily he was able to return to work the following day as the food here made him entirely sick and had to lay down for hours to ride it out. read more

I was greeted by more than 1 staff as I walked in, and that's one thing I love, is great customer service & feeling welcomed! (Because who doesn't want to feel valued when they're about to spend their money at an establishment). There are so many items to choose from, so the menu can be overwhelming, but the owner came right over, asked if this was my first time at the restaurant and walked me through the menu which I really appreciated. He also gave me a sample of their new coffee cake & 2 samples of their fresh juices they make without the processed sugar (YUMMY!). I started out "trying" to build my own salad, but then the staff helped in recommending the Santorini (greek) salad, I added grilled salmon, got one of the juices and I must say I am very impressed with this business and how yummy my food & drink was!
