I also asked for extra dressing because I'm extra. Both the salad and soup were so freaking delicious, the greens and veggies were fresh, toppings well balanced, and the dressing was phenomenal (I was skeptical because I'm not the hugest fan of mustard). The dressing is good and it's a decent sized salad so I'm not left hungry and grabbing chips afterwards. I tried The Mandarin salad and the Baja salad. The Mandarin is basically what's usually known as a Chinese chicken salad. The dressing is slightly sweet, yet light, and the mandarin oranges really gives your mouth that blast of tangy sweet flavor. It was a good salad. The Baja has a very slight spicy kick with generous avocado pieces. I would get it again. The only improvement would be the chicken. It was a little rubbery and chewy. This place is a new restaurant in my neighborhood so I stopped buy to support and also I love salad. I've been 3 times so far. They have where u can build your own salad but I got the salads on the menu. The first time I went I got the Baja salad with the balsamic dressing. You have the option to have the dressing tossed in or on the side, I got it tossed in. This salad was great! The ingredients are fresh and everything was nicely put together. I knew I was going to be back. However the next 2 times I went things were missing from my order. The second time I went I got the Cobb salad with the balsamic dressing this was a to go order. When I got home I notice they forgot to put the egg in there. I wasn't going to go back for an egg but it sucked they forgot it. But in general the salad was really good nice slices of turkey and the other ingredients were fresh and it's a good portion of food. The third time I went I got a Baja salad (this is my favorite so far) and the calm chowder. The chowder is good (better than a can but I've had better) but it's warm. I like my soups HOT especially on a cold day. But it's a decent soup so I finished it. Then I started digging in the salad. It was great but they forgot to put the chicken in it! This is something I could not let slip. Thank goodness I ate inside because I would've been mad if I went home and there was no chicken in my salad. I asked them to put the chicken in the salad and they did, thank goodness. Overall I like this place and I will be back but I will always check my order and make sure everything is in there. read more

Was craving a salad one night for dinner, so I turned to Yelp to find a spot. Boy am I glad I found Toss Up! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, who started explaining the (very large) menu to us. Overwhelmed with choices, he let us try a few things. We decided to go with 2 of the menu item salads, the baja salad and the mandarin. They took about 15 minutes to make once we ordered, but it was worth it. The portions were huge and the ingredients were so fresh. My one suggestion would be to get extra dressing, as the standard amount of dressing was incredibly light. Will definitely be coming back to try other menu items (especially the acai bowls - the sample we had was incredible). read more

As someone who has had his life changed by a low-carb diet I'm deeply appreciative of restaurants that offer steak salads and the fact that I can get one here that is a) substantial and b) doesn't break the bank makes me super happy that The Toss Up exists! I have both eaten in and taken out from this location and found the decor to be modern and inviting- some of which was inspired or perhaps ported over from the establishment that used to occupy the same space.
