I came in with my boyfriend and since the moment we stepped in we were greeted with a warm welcome and the worker on the register took the time to explain the menu to us! We ordered the Chicken Caesar salad & the Baja salad and they were sooooo good & flavorful! We also ordered a mango peach smoothie & the strawberry banana smoothie & they were also delicious. First of all, this place is AMAZING!! Black Family owned, staff is great, kind, personable, helpful and the salad & drink I ordered was DELICIOUS! I've had this restaurant saved on Yelp as a place to try and finally went! I was greeted by more than 1 staff as I walked in, and that's one thing I love, is great customer service & feeling welcomed! (Because who doesn't want to feel valued when they're about to spend their money at an establishment). There are so many items to choose from, so the menu can be overwhelming, but the owner came right over, asked if this was my first time at the restaurant and walked me through the menu which I really appreciated. He also gave me a sample of their new coffee cake & 2 samples of their fresh juices they make without the processed sugar (YUMMY!). I started out "trying" to build my own salad, but then the staff helped in recommending the Santorini (greek) salad, I added grilled salmon, got one of the juices and I must say I am very impressed with this business and how yummy my food & drink was! This restaurant is exactly what Gardena needed! I've been living in this city for over 15 years and was very disappointed in the limited access to fresh and healthy food. Very welcoming. You are greeted as soon as you enter the establishment. The clam chowder was amazing. I am in love with clam chowder and when I find a good one I keep coming back. I ordered a 16 ounce and ate it and order one to go it was that good the lady at the front counter I didn't get her name but she was very nice. She let me try a couple of their juices. The dressing is good and it's a decent sized salad so I'm not left hungry and grabbing chips afterwards. I tried The Mandarin salad and the Baja salad. The Mandarin is basically what's usually known as a Chinese chicken salad. The dressing is slightly sweet, yet light, and the mandarin oranges really gives your mouth that blast of tangy sweet flavor. It was a good salad. The Baja has a very slight spicy kick with generous avocado pieces. I would get it again. The only improvement would be the chicken. It was a little rubbery and chewy. This local, healthy spot has potential. I tried their Cobb salad and wasn't very impressed. It looked nothing like the profile picture. For the price and quantity, I would expect better quality ingredients. The cubed chicken and bacon tasted like cheap, processed meat. I would prefer fresh chicken and bacon. The honey mustard left much to be desired as well. The decor is very nice and the staff are very friendly. I felt welcomed the moment I walked in. This place is a new restaurant in my neighborhood so I stopped buy to support and also I love salad. I've been 3 times so far. They have where u can build your own salad but I got the salads on the menu. The first time I went I got the Baja salad with the balsamic dressing. You have the option to have the dressing tossed in or on the side, I got it tossed in. This salad was great! The ingredients are fresh and everything was nicely put together. I knew I was going to be back. However the next 2 times I went things were missing from my order. The second time I went I got the Cobb salad with the balsamic dressing this was a to go order. When I got home I notice they forgot to put the egg in there. I wasn't going to go back for an egg but it sucked they forgot it. But in general the salad was really good nice slices of turkey and the other ingredients were fresh and it's a good portion of food. The third time I went I got a Baja salad (this is my favorite so far) and the calm chowder. The chowder is good (better than a can but I've had better) but it's warm. I like my soups HOT especially on a cold day. But it's a decent soup so I finished it. Then I started digging in the salad. It was great but they forgot to put the chicken in it! This is something I could not let slip. Thank goodness I ate inside because I would've been mad if I went home and there was no chicken in my salad. I asked them to put the chicken in the salad and they did, thank goodness.
