Long time Hawthorne resident and just moved to Gardena. I'm so excited that this establishment exists here right in the heart of the South Bay!!! Most of these kinds of healthy salad places only exist on the Westside. Very happy to experience good tasting, fresh, and BIG salads here in such a diverse area like Gardena. Prices are consistent with Westside salad bars but that's okay. Taste wise, everything was excellent. From the smoothie to the fresh brewed drinks, and obviously the salads. Ectoria is the nicest and her staff is super inviting. If I could, I'd give 6 stars for being black owned and family owned. read more

Ditto to everyone that says they have great customer service cuz they sure do! I literally just walked out with my bag full of delicious, fresh tasting soup, and couldn't wait to leave a review. We had Shrimp Alfredo and Toss Up Cobb Salad with arugula and both were so delicious! Everything was fresh and Shrimps were so plump. The creamy Alfredo sauce was rich and flavorful. Was craving a salad one night for dinner, so I turned to Yelp to find a spot. Boy am I glad I found Toss Up! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, who started explaining the (very large) menu to us. Overwhelmed with choices, he let us try a few things. We decided to go with 2 of the menu item salads, the baja salad and the mandarin. They took about 15 minutes to make once we ordered, but it was worth it. The portions were huge and the ingredients were so fresh. My one suggestion would be to get extra dressing, as the standard amount of dressing was incredibly light. Will definitely be coming back to try other menu items (especially the acai bowls - the sample we had was incredible). read more

I'm a huge fan of the Beef-stro. As someone who has had his life changed by a low-carb diet I'm deeply appreciative of restaurants that offer steak salads and the fact that I can get one here that is a) substantial and b) doesn't break the bank makes me super happy that The Toss Up exists! I have both eaten in and taken out from this location and found the decor to be modern and inviting- some of which was inspired or perhaps ported over from the establishment that used to occupy the same space. I like The Toss Up and will continue to support this establishment. However, I do think the Caesar Salad is extremely lackluster. I ended up throwing most of it away. This place was delicioso!!!! They have a big menu ranging from salsa, pasta, wraps and smoothies. I ordered the Baja salad and a banana smoothie which came out to about $20 bucks with tip. The salad was a good portion was full half way but was too good to save. They have cute little booths and even a tv showing sports. It wasn't very busy when I was there during the week around 2pm. The gentleman making my smoothie and salad was kind enough to bring the food to me which was nice. I can see it getting very busy!!!! They had many options for the salads ranging from vegan to a bbq style salad or you can even make your own salad, kinda like chipotle. They have huge parking but share it with other businesses. Great customer service, great food. On our first visit, I got the chicken pesto pasta and my brother got the dreamy vegan salad. The pesto was very flavorful and automatically landed in one of my favorite dishes. The dreamy vegan was on point. Felt so inviting when my brother and I first visited. Subway advertises made fresh, but this place actually does it that way. Made with fresh ingredients that you can taste and see. Very friendly staff especially the one who I assume is the owner. My plan was to go to Rascals for Chinese Chicken salad and recall hearing there was another salad establishment in the same complex....So I ordered the Caesar salad and Mandarin salad. On point! Had the privilege of having a meal here. Quite extensive menu all healthy choices. (took me over 30 mins to order - couldn't decide) Fresh high quality food reasonably priced. Large portions (I ate 3 times off my salad). Laid back atmosphere...very welcoming, comfortable and cool vibe. Clean and beautifully appointed. Outstanding customer service and staff. I recommend the Texas Smokehouse salad and green tea (no sugar) totally refreshing. Clam Chowder was quite good too. My new guilt free dessert is the Acai Bowl (couldn't stop eating it)  The icing on the cake was seeing a classmate I hadn't seen in close to 50 years.  My only regret is that I wish I would have found this place sooner. Just left this cute gem!!!! Wish I would've taken pictures of our delicious food, but we all dove in right away. My husband ordered a build your own wrap, my daughter an açaí bowl and I had their southwest beef & bean bowl. All 3 were amazingly delicious The service given was spectacular!! Being first timers, we had the menu fully explained to us, plus we got to sample their freshly made juices- we ordered their lemonade and their berries. My friend wanted something healthy for dinner and she said this restaurant was new and wanted to give it a try. I am not one that likes to try brand new restaurants but, the pictures made me want to give it at try. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by everyone and the attendant at the front went down the entire menu when we arrived at the register. The owner came out from the back of the restaurant and provided more insight on the menu. He also gave us samples for their homemade juice and acai bowls. The acai and juice were amazing! We decided to order the Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap and the Texas Smokehouse Wrap. What I really enjoyed is that you can make any salad into a wrap. Onto the food, they packed the wrap!! My chicken Caesar Salad wrap was very filling and really good. It had flavor and they made sure to give you enough to fill you up or so you can have some for the next day. I tried my friends Texas Smokehouse Wrap and it was also very delicious. They make everything fresh so don't expect it to come out extremely quickly. But, I feel when things are rushed that means that it might not be good. As usual, I checked the bathrooms and they were clean and tidy.
