This place is a must try!! I have been 3 times is the past week, and I enjoyed it every time. My family ordered different salads which were all enjoyable! We had "The Buff N Cluck", "Santorini", "Chicken Caesar Salad", and the "Beef Stro" salads. The baked potato is amazing! I got the chili cheese baked potato with added bacon and steak and omg it was great and so full of flavor. I got the piña colada smoothie and it was so delicious, as are the other ones I've tried in the past. I was able to sample the soups and the chili and all of them are delicious. My favorite might be either the broccoli & cheddar or the chicken tortilla. I sampled the juices as well and they all taste fresh and delicious. They're all organic! My new favorite is the mandarin. I tried their açaí and it is also really good! I'll definitely be back to get an actual açaí bowl soon. This place is always clean, including the bathroom. Great customer service as always, and nice to dine in. Thank you! 10/10 I will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

I can't believe I've missed out frequenting this spot. Fresh, tasty and so many choices. A perfect salad, soup and baked potato restaurant. I got the chicken Waldorf salad which needed a little more dressing but it was good. The clam chowder was delicious. We were given samples of other soups and all were very delicious. I believe they make everything in house.

Food is always fresh. Healthy ingredients that make you feel good. Customer service is always wonderful. The staff always greets you and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The restaurant is clean, bright and comfortable.

For a $10 smoothie (LG) $7 (reg) with limited smoothie options I was expecting something super yummy. My group and I were in the area and saw smoothies advertised outside, we swung by and thought our drinks were a little too sweet and not as fresh/tropical as we expected (I know, it's more of a food spot nor a tropical food spot) but a girl can dream! My friends green drink was okay, she got the regular size and ended up throwing away the last of it. lots of seating and no wait. Great customer service from the gentleman in the front & menu options! I'd come back to try the food options but skip the smoothie.

Rick, the owner and all of his employees , were incredibly kind and welcoming! He offered me free soup samples, which was really thoughtful, and he made the whole experience feel very welcoming and friendly. His customer service was amazing, and you can genuinely tell that he cares about his customers and the experience they have. I really appreciated his kindness and generosity. Thank you to the employees aswell :) Definitely a great owner and someone who makes you want to come back! Highly recommend Toss Up!

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu since it was our first time. I love the idea of a fast casual eatery that has healthy options. And I don't think I've seen another place in the area that has big baked potatoes on their menu! The food was tasty, the space was clean and I loved that they were playing 90s/2000s R&B videos on the screen. No issue parking in the adjacent lot when we arrived, but I could see it getting a bit busy during lunch times with other restaurants in the same plaza. Looking forward to coming back!

When you're in the mood for something healthy yet tasty, The Toss Up has been my go-to for salads! They have a good variety of set options or you can build your own. My favorite is their Baja Salad. It comes with romaine, mixed greens, corn, black beans, red onion, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and grilled chicken. I appreciate the variety of fresh ingredients in this salad! It usually comes with a spicy jalapeno dressing, but I prefer their BBQ Ranch. "The Toss Up" Cobb is pretty good as well. This one has romaine, cherry tomatoes, avocado, hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, roast turkey, bacon, and red onions. All of their salads come with a piece of flat bread. too. Their pre-set salads are definitely a better deal than if you try to select each ingredient when you build your own bowl. Another thing I like about The Toss Up is they have other pasta, baked potato, and soup options in case you feel like you need something extra on top of a salad. We tried their Loaded Baked Potato Bowl and their Cheddar Broccoli Baked Potato Bowl, and they were HUGE! Definitely good for sharing. We usually order online ahead of time, and the estimated wait time always seems oddly long, but sometimes when we get to the restaurant, there aren't too many people there. Not sure if the estimated pick up time system needs to be calibrated?

My Mistake! You ever go to a restaurant and they do things sooo good/right you realize you judged them against previous *meh* experiences? Well, that's what I realized today. I stopped in to pick up lunch for myself and my family. I ordered two shrimp alfredos and two cesar salads. I always get my salads with the dressing mixed in. I'm used to places having watery dressing with barely any flavor so I just assumed The Toss Up would kinda be the same, especially because this is a cesar dressing (and yes, I've been here before to dine in and got the dressing mixed in then too, to the Thai salad). By the time I got home (after making a stop), my salad had wilted a bit and my croutons were not as chrunchy. I'm not mad about it because THE FLAVOR!!!!! OMG!!! this cesar dressing is amazing! Creamy, sumptuous, heavy in the best way possible. Every bite of lettuce, parmesan cheese, chicken, and crouton had dressing on it. And I even ordered an extra dressing! As always, service was great. Such friendly, chatty, kind folks work here. Expect to be greeted when you walk in and get a friendly "bye, see you later" when you leave. BTW, my family loved their food, "delicious" is what they said :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This might be a Yelp thing or a me thing but the review above erased my previous review. I was in to The Toss Up on Friday, June 13 and had a great experience. The Thai salad was so flavorful and full of everything fresh and crunchy--veggies and peanuts. We were greeted warmly by the owner who explained the menu to us in detail. My friend and I split the spaghetti and meatballs and I can't recall the last time I had pasta this good. This first experience was just soooo positive it's why I came back. I wanted another delicious meal and wanted my family to know what I've been raving about.

I finally had time to sit down and do this review I've ordered from them a couple of times after my daughters told me about the place - and let me tell you... The Toss Up! They always Boss Up! Let's start with the packaging - because presentation begins before the first bite. It's like trying to get into Fort Knox You literally have to cut your way in, and I LOVE that. It guarantees your food is sealed, fresh, and not tampered with. Now let's talk about the food... whew! Whether it's their fresh, delicious salads or these humongous, fully loaded potatoes, the quality is always on point. Everything is flavorful, well-seasoned, and made with care. And that chili?! I don't know if it's homemade, but it definitely tastes like it. And if it's not - keep doctoring it up, because it is DELICIOUS! Rich, hearty, and full of flavor. Thank you, The Toss Up! On this grey So Cal day I was feeling too lazy to make my own salad. I was hungry, my bestie had time to spare so we headed to The Toss Up for a soup and salad lunch. I love when I'm greeted upon entering a restaurant, it's an acknowledgement that creates a positive experience right from the start. We approached the counter and placed our orders. Simple, straight forward and despite a tiny error that was easily fixed, the process was painless. Our salads, soups and beverages arrived and we dug in. My Baja salad was super yummy - the creamy jalapeño dressing was so good - it has a kick and I loved it. Her Santorini salad was equally yummy and both of us agreed we'd order them again. The broccoli cheddar soups were hot and tasty and we loved that the cheddar tasted authentic - not one of those afterthought soups thrown on a menu to check a box. The chunks of broccoli were perfect in size and the only thing I would have liked to have was a sprinkling of pepper. The service was superb. Friendly and personable which makes the experience even better. These days I don't mind paying more for food if the service is top notch. Would have liked the soda to be accessible for refills. You're given a plastic lid to cover your bowl for leftovers - we didn't have anything to take home, so the lids went unused and became waste. Overall, the menu is loaded with options and coupled with the service, I would visit again. Oh! Almost forgot to mention the R&B music playing in the background! That made the visit memorable. Keep on, keeping on The Toss Up!

Incredible!!! My friend and I came here for a healthier option after a day at the theme parks, and this did not disappointed! We were greeted with incredible customer service, and were showered with samples. I ultimately had the Dreamy Vegan, and he built his own salad, but wow!! The size of our salads, and the protein, as well as the dressings, absolutely delicious. I also got to try the broccoli cheddar and tomato soup, and both were bursting with the most delicious flavors! The restaurant was clean, and such a fun atmosphere to spend some time hanging out after a great day! DO NOT SKIP THIS WONDERFUL PLACE!

I've been here a few times. I like to support smaller businesses anytime I can, however, I think today might be my last time coming here. My wife ordered the Southwest Beef Bowl. The first issue was the how small the portion was for the bowl and also the amount of meat that was in it. It literally had maybe about 8-10 small cubes of beef and the rest being rice, which also was very mushy and not pleasant to eat. Secondly, the seasoning on their items lack quite a bit, especially the meatballs in their spaghetti. They are just so bland and the meat also has a very odd texture to it. Not exactly sure what they do to it, but it's not good. And this was the second time I've ordered that meal. The salads are pretty decent to good. I've had their Baja Salad and the Texas Smokehouse and they came out pretty good and also a good portion. I tried their "wraps" but really they are just burrito salads with them using a flour tortilla vs a real pita wrap. Not the end of the world, but using flour tortillas makes the wraps taste different and have more tendency of breaking apart easier when eating. I think from now on, I'll just go to Simply Salad down the street as their food is always good and portions are consistent.

True hospitality! This evening I visited The Toss Up after Googling "Healthy Food Near Me" as I was in an unfamiliar area. I am so happy I did! Upon arrival, I was greeted by all the staff (whom all had smiles and felt genuine/not forced) in addition to the owner personally welcoming me. He was very kind and informative and reviewed the entire menu with me. I ordered two build your own salads, a strawberry banana smoothie (with almond milk) and a sparkling water. I shared with him that I too have been in hospitality management and we had a nice chat while my order was being prepared. He even offered a small sample of their tomato soup which was AMAZING. I am definitely ordering it during my next visit. The restaurant was clean, all the staff were so kind, and everything in the menu looked delicious. My food came out looking just like the salads on the menu online; bowls packed to the top and with fresh ingredients. The banana smoothie (with almond milk) was so good I finished it before arriving home. Thank you for the amazing experience, and keeping the true meaning of hospitality alive. read more

We were greeted immediately and when they realized it was our first time here- immediately walked us through their menu and offered us samples. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad and my husband ordered the the beef stro salad. Both were large and full of fresh and delicious veggies, meats and cheeses. The steak was tender and flavorful and the buffalo sauce actually had a kick to it. Absolutely delicious food and amazing service from a very friendly and welcoming staff. The food is great. The restaurant is clean, and i like the ambiance when you have time to dine in. However, my frustration is with accessibility in putting in an order for pick up. The website does not work properly and won't accept orders. We tried to call in an order, and the phone rang continuously. So i gave up. Had to drive up and wait till everything was prepared. The second time we attempted to eat here, my husband tried the website, but it's still not fixed.He called and got thru, and they asked for credit card information and code on the card? No, thank you. That is a security issue. Please fix the website and make ordering easier. We were limited on time so we had to choose a different place to eat. Ordered ahi tuna salad for lunch. Taste good. 5mins into my meal, the black plastic fork broke one of its tine at 2 different places. I was able to spit out one but could not find the smaller piece. I did not finish the bowl and went to the counter and ordered a chicken salad. I informed them of the broken fork. I hav to explain the problem 2x. They took my payment for the second order and informed me they will call owner and report the incident. They served my 2nd order and reimbursed me for the first only after they informed me clearly that they do not normally reimburse and that this was first time a customer reported a brittle plastic fork. I was surprised they accepted my payment for my second order. Sad thing is I do not need the reimbursement. I was waiting for an apology. The thought of ingesting an inorganic object is a very uncomfortable lingering thought. I was able to eat only a third of my 2nd bowl and left quietly. The manager on station did not even approach me to check whether I was okay or not. The chicken salad was not good. They forgot to add/mix the dressing. I decided not to complain and simply left. If this was the first time it happened, the restaurant designated head or mgr for the day should have acted decisively instead of informing the customer they have to inform the owner first. read more

We have been wanting to try this place and they are finally open today! We ordered Thai salad, Caesar salad and broccoli cheddar soup. What I like about them - the salad portion is generous, veggies are fresh and have variety. Broccoli cheddar soup is my fav, it has a very rich flavor but not heavy. The dressing is slightly salty, but not a big impact because I asked to have them on the side. In general, it's a very fresh/clean choice restaurant w good flavor. The inside looks similar to honey boba, but the color of chairs are changed to green for a botanical looking, the roof and lights are changed to industrial style. Also, staffs are super friendly, defiantly a plus. read more

We ended up here after a 3 mile walk at a near by park. The atmosphere was nice but the service was amazing. Since it was our first time, one of the gentleman gave us a rundown on the menu and suggested a few items we might like to try. The cashier was extremely pleasant and cracked a few jokes with us and it was a smooth hassle free transaction. My friend got the Santorini Salad wrap which looked delicious and he said it was excellent. I had questions about the Caesar dressing and the gentleman who prepares it fresh daily came to speak with me about it. My salad was large and filling. I opted for salmon on my salad instead of chicken which was excellently seasoned. We sampled the chili, clam chowder, chicken tortilla soup and they were all flavorful. The berry punch they make daily as well, wasn't overly sweet which I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be back to try a few other signature salads and to get their biggest bowl of tortilla soup they offer because it was one of the best I've had in a very long time. They also do catering which I'm excited about since I have an event coming up. Please give them a try you won't be disappointed. They truly make you feel like family. read more

This place is a 10/10 ... food was delicious and HEALTHY, on top of well portioned I can't complain one bit . I ordered a loaded baked potato and added steak on top ... it was bomb !!! And also ordered a lifestyle bowl similar to chipotle style bowl but with their type of twist and it was also very delicious and flavorful. The vibe inside was chill . The smoothies, soups, and SALADS!!! this is a must try if you're around the area or just make the trip on this side because every bite was incredible. This place is amazing. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are generous.The staff is courteous and pretty well informed. The owner, Rick is there is there every day and he loves talking to guests about the menu until you are confident in what you want. The salads, wraps and smoothies are all 10 out of 10. This is one of those spots that you come to for lunch and you leave saying "I need to come back with my friends and/or my significant other." Bomb, Bomb, Bomb! Come see. Came for lunch and was thoroughly impressed by both the service and the food. We were greeted immediately and had the menu explained to us in-depth. We also were given samples of their fresh juice/teas (lemonade, berry juice, green tea, and more). We ended up ordering a baja and cobb salad, we loved them both! The portion size is great, these reviews didn't lie. They also didn't overdo it on the dressing (super flavorful) and the salads were not "basic" but instead complete meals made with thought. The place is new to the area but will be a staple with my lunch time crew. I had the Baja salad- more salad than I knew I needed, very hearty with the portion and was able to save some for later. There are great options, really something for everyone. Plus the service was amazing. The young woman who took my order took the time to explain the menu and offer some great suggestions. The customer service at this place is amazing. Upon walking in we were greeted by an extremely helpful gentleman who walked us through the menu, some recommendations, and also provided us with some drink and soup samples. I thought this was super helpful as I usually feel overwhelmed and rushed when deciding what to order, but he made selecting an option super easy. All the employees are also extremely sweet and accommodating. We ordered a larger clam chowder to share and asked if they could provide us with separate bowls which they said was no problem. It was delicious and this is coming from someone who is not a huge fan of seafood. I ordered a Santorini salad. The salad portion is HUGE, with a generous amount of toppings. The drink we ordered actually didn't come out- honestly we forgot about it too, but we just asked them for them at the counter. Towards the end of our meal, they checked in to see if we needed a lid to take our food to-go, which I definitely did. For me, this salad was 2-3 meals worth of food. All in all, extremely warm and welcoming atmosphere. Service is amazing. Portions are huge. I will definitely be coming back to try all their other menu options, especially their acai bowl, chicken tortilla soup, and loaded baked potatoes! read more

There are several restaurants in Torrence that serve delicious salads, but my favorite salads are all the salads they serve here at The Toss Up. It's fresh, of course, but I can feel the love from this place. The salads they make show the love of the family who run this restaurant and their seriousness towards their customers. A RESOUNDING 10 out of 10 recommended. My mom and I went for dinner and the staff were extremely friendly. I was on the fence about getting the soup, so our server gave me a sample to try. Any drink, and soup can be sampled. I wish I knew his name, but he was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Honestly we arrived 15 minutes before closing time, our fault. I ordered the build your own salad and picked Ahi which was a Lil bit too dry for me, and my salad was beautiful and fulfilling Im sure but not enough dressing so unfortunately it was dry too. I do like the point system and the whole idea of eating healthy. The location was nice and the service was quick and fresh also made to order. I'll be back earlier next time. Lol read more

On my first visit, one of the employees was so friendly and took the time to explain the menu, offering great suggestions. The next day, I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, who was equally kind. He even let me sample the dressings to find my favorite and offered a taste of the soup, which was a nice touch. We are recommended to try this place from our staffs. A few of them has been coming here regularly. We also have been here a few times already. We kept coming back more !! We have been ordering the dreamy vegan even though we are not exactly vegan. Everything we ordered has been super fresh and fantastic. All the sauces are very yummy ! The staffs are so nice !! I came in tonight with my grandmother who's on a low carb diet and we had an amazing time here! The owner is very friendly and he took the time to explain the menu to us as we were first time customers and my grandma really appreciated it. The owner also took the time to let us sample their signature drinks and dressings. Overall, the service was impeccable and the food was amazing to match. Wow!! This was my first time even hearing about this place. I'm so glad I came! First walking in and samples were provided. Out of all three (cheddar broccoli soup, tortilla soup, and chili) very tasty. For my main meal, I got the Cobb salad with chicken Alfredo and loaded potato. *chefs kiss* AMAZING!! It's not a fast food restaurant so they do make the food to order, which is great. The owners Joseph and Young are such sweet human beings. The restaurant is their next endeavor in life and they've made the most of it. You can't help but wish them a lot of luck and hope their restaurant succeeds. Their hours of operation is very limited because they use the down time to prepare for the following week. They have low overhead, which means they are able to offer their meals at an affordable price and the quantity is bigger than most. We came here on the one Saturday they are open per month and there were lots of regulars here already. We wait a little while and got to know the owners a little more. We will be coming back to support this mom and pop.
