This place is a must try!! I have been 3 times is the past week, and I enjoyed it every time. My family ordered different salads which were all enjoyable! We had "The Buff N Cluck", "Santorini", "Chicken Caesar Salad", and the "Beef Stro" salads. The baked potato is amazing! I got the chili cheese baked potato with added bacon and steak and omg it was great and so full of flavor. I got the piña colada smoothie and it was so delicious, as are the other ones I've tried in the past. I was able to sample the soups and the chili and all of them are delicious. My favorite might be either the broccoli & cheddar or the chicken tortilla. I sampled the juices as well and they all taste fresh and delicious. They're all organic! My new favorite is the mandarin. I tried their açaí and it is also really good! I'll definitely be back to get an actual açaí bowl soon. This place is always clean, including the bathroom. Great customer service as always, and nice to dine in. Thank you! 10/10 I will definitely be back! Highly recommended.
I can't believe I've missed out frequenting this spot. Fresh, tasty and so many choices. A perfect salad, soup and baked potato restaurant. I got the chicken Waldorf salad which needed a little more dressing but it was good. The clam chowder was delicious. We were given samples of other soups and all were very delicious. I believe they make everything in house.
Food is always fresh. Healthy ingredients that make you feel good. Customer service is always wonderful. The staff always greets you and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The restaurant is clean, bright and comfortable.
For a $10 smoothie (LG) $7 (reg) with limited smoothie options I was expecting something super yummy. My group and I were in the area and saw smoothies advertised outside, we swung by and thought our drinks were a little too sweet and not as fresh/tropical as we expected (I know, it's more of a food spot nor a tropical food spot) but a girl can dream! My friends green drink was okay, she got the regular size and ended up throwing away the last of it. lots of seating and no wait. Great customer service from the gentleman in the front & menu options! I'd come back to try the food options but skip the smoothie.
Rick, the owner and all of his employees , were incredibly kind and welcoming! He offered me free soup samples, which was really thoughtful, and he made the whole experience feel very welcoming and friendly. His customer service was amazing, and you can genuinely tell that he cares about his customers and the experience they have. I really appreciated his kindness and generosity. Thank you to the employees aswell :) Definitely a great owner and someone who makes you want to come back! Highly recommend Toss Up!
Walking into The Toss Up for the first time to a warm greeting by owner Rick and teamsters. Food and drinks are amazing. Lots of flavor in this healthy comfort food. Now one of my go-to spots when I return home to visit.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu since it was our first time. I love the idea of a fast casual eatery that has healthy options. And I don't think I've seen another place in the area that has big baked potatoes on their menu! The food was tasty, the space was clean and I loved that they were playing 90s/2000s R&B videos on the screen. No issue parking in the adjacent lot when we arrived, but I could see it getting a bit busy during lunch times with other restaurants in the same plaza. Looking forward to coming back!
When you're in the mood for something healthy yet tasty, The Toss Up has been my go-to for salads! They have a good variety of set options or you can build your own. My favorite is their Baja Salad. It comes with romaine, mixed greens, corn, black beans, red onion, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and grilled chicken. I appreciate the variety of fresh ingredients in this salad! It usually comes with a spicy jalapeno dressing, but I prefer their BBQ Ranch. "The Toss Up" Cobb is pretty good as well. This one has romaine, cherry tomatoes, avocado, hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, roast turkey, bacon, and red onions. All of their salads come with a piece of flat bread. too. Their pre-set salads are definitely a better deal than if you try to select each ingredient when you build your own bowl. Another thing I like about The Toss Up is they have other pasta, baked potato, and soup options in case you feel like you need something extra on top of a salad. We tried their Loaded Baked Potato Bowl and their Cheddar Broccoli Baked Potato Bowl, and they were HUGE! Definitely good for sharing. We usually order online ahead of time, and the estimated wait time always seems oddly long, but sometimes when we get to the restaurant, there aren't too many people there. Not sure if the estimated pick up time system needs to be calibrated?
My Mistake! You ever go to a restaurant and they do things sooo good/right you realize you judged them against previous *meh* experiences? Well, that's what I realized today. I stopped in to pick up lunch for myself and my family. I ordered two shrimp alfredos and two cesar salads. I always get my salads with the dressing mixed in. I'm used to places having watery dressing with barely any flavor so I just assumed The Toss Up would kinda be the same, especially because this is a cesar dressing (and yes, I've been here before to dine in and got the dressing mixed in then too, to the Thai salad). By the time I got home (after making a stop), my salad had wilted a bit and my croutons were not as chrunchy. I'm not mad about it because THE FLAVOR!!!!! OMG!!! this cesar dressing is amazing! Creamy, sumptuous, heavy in the best way possible. Every bite of lettuce, parmesan cheese, chicken, and crouton had dressing on it. And I even ordered an extra dressing! As always, service was great. Such friendly, chatty, kind folks work here. Expect to be greeted when you walk in and get a friendly "bye, see you later" when you leave. BTW, my family loved their food, "delicious" is what they said :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This might be a Yelp thing or a me thing but the review above erased my previous review. I was in to The Toss Up on Friday, June 13 and had a great experience. The Thai salad was so flavorful and full of everything fresh and crunchy--veggies and peanuts. We were greeted warmly by the owner who explained the menu to us in detail. My friend and I split the spaghetti and meatballs and I can't recall the last time I had pasta this good. This first experience was just soooo positive it's why I came back. I wanted another delicious meal and wanted my family to know what I've been raving about.
I finally had time to sit down and do this review I've ordered from them a couple of times after my daughters told me about the place - and let me tell you... The Toss Up! They always Boss Up! Let's start with the packaging - because presentation begins before the first bite. It's like trying to get into Fort Knox You literally have to cut your way in, and I LOVE that. It guarantees your food is sealed, fresh, and not tampered with. Now let's talk about the food... whew! Whether it's their fresh, delicious salads or these humongous, fully loaded potatoes, the quality is always on point. Everything is flavorful, well-seasoned, and made with care. And that chili?! I don't know if it's homemade, but it definitely tastes like it. And if it's not - keep doctoring it up, because it is DELICIOUS! Rich, hearty, and full of flavor. Thank you, The Toss Up! Because like JJ would say... well, if you know, you know; DY-NO-MITE!
On this grey So Cal day I was feeling too lazy to make my own salad. I was hungry, my bestie had time to spare so we headed to The Toss Up for a soup and salad lunch. I love when I'm greeted upon entering a restaurant, it's an acknowledgement that creates a positive experience right from the start. We approached the counter and placed our orders. Simple, straight forward and despite a tiny error that was easily fixed, the process was painless. Our salads, soups and beverages arrived and we dug in. My Baja salad was super yummy - the creamy jalapeño dressing was so good - it has a kick and I loved it. Her Santorini salad was equally yummy and both of us agreed we'd order them again. The broccoli cheddar soups were hot and tasty and we loved that the cheddar tasted authentic - not one of those afterthought soups thrown on a menu to check a box. The chunks of broccoli were perfect in size and the only thing I would have liked to have was a sprinkling of pepper. The service was superb. Friendly and personable which makes the experience even better. These days I don't mind paying more for food if the service is top notch. Would have liked the soda to be accessible for refills. You're given a plastic lid to cover your bowl for leftovers - we didn't have anything to take home, so the lids went unused and became waste. Overall, the menu is loaded with options and coupled with the service, I would visit again. Oh! Almost forgot to mention the R&B music playing in the background! That made the visit memorable. Keep on, keeping on The Toss Up!
Incredible!!! My friend and I came here for a healthier option after a day at the theme parks, and this did not disappointed! We were greeted with incredible customer service, and were showered with samples. I ultimately had the Dreamy Vegan, and he built his own salad, but wow!! The size of our salads, and the protein, as well as the dressings, absolutely delicious. I also got to try the broccoli cheddar and tomato soup, and both were bursting with the most delicious flavors! The restaurant was clean, and such a fun atmosphere to spend some time hanging out after a great day! DO NOT SKIP THIS WONDERFUL PLACE!
I've been here a few times. I like to support smaller businesses anytime I can, however, I think today might be my last time coming here. My wife ordered the Southwest Beef Bowl. The first issue was the how small the portion was for the bowl and also the amount of meat that was in it. It literally had maybe about 8-10 small cubes of beef and the rest being rice, which also was very mushy and not pleasant to eat. Secondly, the seasoning on their items lack quite a bit, especially the meatballs in their spaghetti. They are just so bland and the meat also has a very odd texture to it. Not exactly sure what they do to it, but it's not good. And this was the second time I've ordered that meal. The salads are pretty decent to good. I've had their Baja Salad and the Texas Smokehouse and they came out pretty good and also a good portion. I tried their "wraps" but really they are just burrito salads with them using a flour tortilla vs a real pita wrap. Not the end of the world, but using flour tortillas makes the wraps taste different and have more tendency of breaking apart easier when eating. I think from now on, I'll just go to Simply Salad down the street as their food is always good and portions are consistent.

$14.88 - This is their version of a LARGE AÇAÍ BOWL. Look at all that gap! Last time I'll ever go there! Took them 25 mins to make. Complete and utter confusion over the phone. They have curbside pick up signage and parking spaces, but you gotta come inside? Get it together. Does the owner need to be on every station in order to get good service? From the phone to the register to making the food - they need better training! I'll be sticking with BEACH BOWLS AÇAÍ CAFE - it's only a mile west of here and worth your while a million times over! read more

I saw a post on Facebook that said this was the best restaurant in Gardena! So being the foodie that I am, I had to investigate! Soooo, let me say that it did NOT disappoint! The owner was very welcoming and staff too! He let us try the natural açaí that's served with bowls. Delicious and can't wait to go back to try a full bowl. The soups are absolutely delicious! The clam chowder is one of the best I've had. I had a salad and it was big! Really enough for two! But so good you won't wanna share! This place is black owned and a good example of black excellence! Sent my husband to get us lunch. First he tried to order over the phone but apparently they couldn't get his order right. When he got to the shop, the manager quickly approached him to help him out. The reason for the one star is because my order was still wrong. My husband had asked for my salad to be dressed but instead the dressing came on the side. Our 1st time here. We have a very good impression with the manager, Rick. He is super friendly, polite and very service mind. We never been here so he explained the menu and gave us a lot of samples to tried. We ordered Waldorf Salads and Clam Chowder. Salads is great! I love salads with fruit. Clam Chowder was hearty. This was my first time and we we're greeted and welcomed by a friendly man (who I suspect to be the owner) and he took his time to give us a break down of the menu. Everything looks delicious and promotes healthy wellness. He let us sample some in house made drinks as well as the Brazilian imported açaí. Beautiful selection of foods ranging from healthy to comfort. Salad selection is definitely on point, the Ahi is my favorite. Nice variety of Teas. You gotta love any business where the family is fully involved with all operations, keeps the energy fun! Daughter in-law managing the register with a bright smile. It was a pleasure to meet both Ektoria (apologies if I spelled your name wrong) and Rick. Husband and Wife team handling the floor. A welcoming place with great food! My wife and I were in the area, making a Home Depot run, and discovered this place online. The place seems to have opened recently and everything felt new and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I have to admit, that this was the most welcome I've felt at any restaurant, which was completely unexpected. When we walked in, the cashier greeted us, and asked if we've been there before and went on to explain the menu and all of their options. A gentleman (manager) came over and offered us to sample of the juices which I believe were organic and no added sugar. It was very refreshing and nice to see someone so eager to help. The restaurant had 1 or 2 other customers and wasn't busy. There were a lot of Togo orders though. We ordered 2 salads, a juice, and a chicken noodle soup. The salads were perfectly dressed and ingredients fresh, like Whole Foods kind of fresh. The steak was warmed and chopped to bite size pieces, which was a bonus. My wife ordered her dressing on the side, and when doing it this way your salad is very photogenic (see attached). I ordered mine tossed, and it come out perfectly, each leaf coated with just enough dressing and not drenched. The chicken noodle soup was homey and plentiful with noodles. It even had a nice garnish on top. I highly recommend this place! I wish there was one closer to where I live, I'd eat there every day! Note: since this is a new restaurant, the food prep was quite slow, it took about 25 minutes to get our food. Since they are new business I'm keeping the extra star. read more

Decided to finally give the Toss Up a try since it's so close by me. Been craving salad recently and this was a perfect fit. I got the Baja salad and the Loaded Baked Potato. The Baja salad looked so neatly assembled and I loved the variety of toppings it came with. The dressing was a little spicy but I enjoyed the extra kick. I overheard some other customers talking about the mandarin salad so I definitely want to come back and try that as well. The Loaded Baked Potato was sooo good! For $8, it was a good size to share with my family. Definitely get the loaded baked potato with your salad! It is a must! read more
