This place is a must try!! I have been 3 times is the past week, and I enjoyed it every time. My family ordered different salads which were all enjoyable! We had "The Buff N Cluck", "Santorini", "Chicken Caesar Salad", and the "Beef Stro" salads. The baked potato is amazing! I got the chili cheese baked potato with added bacon and steak and omg it was great and so full of flavor. I got the piña colada smoothie and it was so delicious, as are the other ones I've tried in the past. I was able to sample the soups and the chili and all of them are delicious. My favorite might be either the broccoli & cheddar or the chicken tortilla. I sampled the juices as well and they all taste fresh and delicious. They're all organic! My new favorite is the mandarin. I tried their açaí and it is also really good! I'll definitely be back to get an actual açaí bowl soon. This place is always clean, including the bathroom. Great customer service as always, and nice to dine in. Thank you! 10/10 I will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

I can't believe I've missed out frequenting this spot. Fresh, tasty and so many choices. A perfect salad, soup and baked potato restaurant. I got the chicken Waldorf salad which needed a little more dressing but it was good. The clam chowder was delicious. We were given samples of other soups and all were very delicious. I believe they make everything in house.

Food is always fresh. Healthy ingredients that make you feel good. Customer service is always wonderful. The staff always greets you and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The restaurant is clean, bright and comfortable.

Green Smoothie & Pina colada/strawberry smoothie

For a $10 smoothie (LG) $7 (reg) with limited smoothie options I was expecting something super yummy. My group and I were in the area and saw smoothies advertised outside, we swung by and thought our drinks were a little too sweet and not as fresh/tropical as we expected (I know, it's more of a food spot nor a tropical food spot) but a girl can dream! My friends green drink was okay, she got the regular size and ended up throwing away the last of it. lots of seating and no wait. Great customer service from the gentleman in the front & menu options! I'd come back to try the food options but skip the smoothie.

Rick, the owner and all of his employees , were incredibly kind and welcoming! He offered me free soup samples, which was really thoughtful, and he made the whole experience feel very welcoming and friendly. His customer service was amazing, and you can genuinely tell that he cares about his customers and the experience they have. I really appreciated his kindness and generosity. Thank you to the employees aswell :) Definitely a great owner and someone who makes you want to come back! Highly recommend Toss Up!

Walking into The Toss Up for the first time to a warm greeting by owner Rick and teamsters. Food and drinks are amazing. Lots of flavor in this healthy comfort food. Now one of my go-to spots when I return home to visit.

Maya D.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu since it was our first time. I love the idea of a fast casual eatery that has healthy options. And I don't think I've seen another place in the area that has big baked potatoes on their menu! The food was tasty, the space was clean and I loved that they were playing 90s/2000s R&B videos on the screen. No issue parking in the adjacent lot when we arrived, but I could see it getting a bit busy during lunch times with other restaurants in the same plaza. Looking forward to coming back!

When you're in the mood for something healthy yet tasty, The Toss Up has been my go-to for salads! They have a good variety of set options or you can build your own. My favorite is their Baja Salad. It comes with romaine, mixed greens, corn, black beans, red onion, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and grilled chicken. I appreciate the variety of fresh ingredients in this salad! It usually comes with a spicy jalapeno dressing, but I prefer their BBQ Ranch. "The Toss Up" Cobb is pretty good as well. This one has romaine, cherry tomatoes, avocado, hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, roast turkey, bacon, and red onions. All of their salads come with a piece of flat bread. too. Their pre-set salads are definitely a better deal than if you try to select each ingredient when you build your own bowl. Another thing I like about The Toss Up is they have other pasta, baked potato, and soup options in case you feel like you need something extra on top of a salad. We tried their Loaded Baked Potato Bowl and their Cheddar Broccoli Baked Potato Bowl, and they were HUGE! Definitely good for sharing. We usually order online ahead of time, and the estimated wait time always seems oddly long, but sometimes when we get to the restaurant, there aren't too many people there. Not sure if the estimated pick up time system needs to be calibrated?

Dalia J.

My Mistake! You ever go to a restaurant and they do things sooo good/right you realize you judged them against previous *meh* experiences? Well, that's what I realized today. I stopped in to pick up lunch for myself and my family. I ordered two shrimp alfredos and two cesar salads. I always get my salads with the dressing mixed in. I'm used to places having watery dressing with barely any flavor so I just assumed The Toss Up would kinda be the same, especially because this is a cesar dressing (and yes, I've been here before to dine in and got the dressing mixed in then too, to the Thai salad). By the time I got home (after making a stop), my salad had wilted a bit and my croutons were not as chrunchy. I'm not mad about it because THE FLAVOR!!!!! OMG!!! this cesar dressing is amazing! Creamy, sumptuous, heavy in the best way possible. Every bite of lettuce, parmesan cheese, chicken, and crouton had dressing on it. And I even ordered an extra dressing! As always, service was great. Such friendly, chatty, kind folks work here. Expect to be greeted when you walk in and get a friendly "bye, see you later" when you leave. BTW, my family loved their food, "delicious" is what they said :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This might be a Yelp thing or a me thing but the review above erased my previous review. I was in to The Toss Up on Friday, June 13 and had a great experience. The Thai salad was so flavorful and full of everything fresh and crunchy--veggies and peanuts. We were greeted warmly by the owner who explained the menu to us in detail. My friend and I split the spaghetti and meatballs and I can't recall the last time I had pasta this good. This first experience was just soooo positive it's why I came back. I wanted another delicious meal and wanted my family to know what I've been raving about.

Up close and personal ‍ Thick, rich, and loaded with flavor. Every spoonful hitting, no shortcuts

I finally had time to sit down and do this review I've ordered from them a couple of times after my daughters told me about the place - and let me tell you... The Toss Up! They always Boss Up! Let's start with the packaging - because presentation begins before the first bite. It's like trying to get into Fort Knox You literally have to cut your way in, and I LOVE that. It guarantees your food is sealed, fresh, and not tampered with. Now let's talk about the food... whew! Whether it's their fresh, delicious salads or these humongous, fully loaded potatoes, the quality is always on point. Everything is flavorful, well-seasoned, and made with care. And that chili?! I don't know if it's homemade, but it definitely tastes like it. And if it's not - keep doctoring it up, because it is DELICIOUS! Rich, hearty, and full of flavor. Thank you, The Toss Up! Because like JJ would say... well, if you know, you know; DY-NO-MITE!

On this grey So Cal day I was feeling too lazy to make my own salad. I was hungry, my bestie had time to spare so we headed to The Toss Up for a soup and salad lunch. I love when I'm greeted upon entering a restaurant, it's an acknowledgement that creates a positive experience right from the start. We approached the counter and placed our orders. Simple, straight forward and despite a tiny error that was easily fixed, the process was painless. Our salads, soups and beverages arrived and we dug in. My Baja salad was super yummy - the creamy jalapeño dressing was so good - it has a kick and I loved it. Her Santorini salad was equally yummy and both of us agreed we'd order them again. The broccoli cheddar soups were hot and tasty and we loved that the cheddar tasted authentic - not one of those afterthought soups thrown on a menu to check a box. The chunks of broccoli were perfect in size and the only thing I would have liked to have was a sprinkling of pepper. The service was superb. Friendly and personable which makes the experience even better. These days I don't mind paying more for food if the service is top notch. Would have liked the soda to be accessible for refills. You're given a plastic lid to cover your bowl for leftovers - we didn't have anything to take home, so the lids went unused and became waste. Overall, the menu is loaded with options and coupled with the service, I would visit again. Oh! Almost forgot to mention the R&B music playing in the background! That made the visit memorable. Keep on, keeping on The Toss Up!

Here is the description of the Dreamy Vegan Salad

Evan W.

Incredible!!! My friend and I came here for a healthier option after a day at the theme parks, and this did not disappointed! We were greeted with incredible customer service, and were showered with samples. I ultimately had the Dreamy Vegan, and he built his own salad, but wow!! The size of our salads, and the protein, as well as the dressings, absolutely delicious. I also got to try the broccoli cheddar and tomato soup, and both were bursting with the most delicious flavors! The restaurant was clean, and such a fun atmosphere to spend some time hanging out after a great day! DO NOT SKIP THIS WONDERFUL PLACE!

Southwest Beef Southwest Beef and Bean Bowl with hardly any meat and super mushy rice. Flavor was not good.

Ernie G.

I've been here a few times. I like to support smaller businesses anytime I can, however, I think today might be my last time coming here. My wife ordered the Southwest Beef Bowl. The first issue was the how small the portion was for the bowl and also the amount of meat that was in it. It literally had maybe about 8-10 small cubes of beef and the rest being rice, which also was very mushy and not pleasant to eat. Secondly, the seasoning on their items lack quite a bit, especially the meatballs in their spaghetti. They are just so bland and the meat also has a very odd texture to it. Not exactly sure what they do to it, but it's not good. And this was the second time I've ordered that meal. The salads are pretty decent to good. I've had their Baja Salad and the Texas Smokehouse and they came out pretty good and also a good portion. I tried their "wraps" but really they are just burrito salads with them using a flour tortilla vs a real pita wrap. Not the end of the world, but using flour tortillas makes the wraps taste different and have more tendency of breaking apart easier when eating. I think from now on, I'll just go to Simply Salad down the street as their food is always good and portions are consistent.

Had a great dinner with the kids at The Toss Up. The owner, Rick, introduced us to the menu and we ordered salads and pasta. Slow, slow and slow. I have been waiting for my salad for 42 minutes so far. The workers drag themselves and they keep starring at each other. I ordered a salad that's all nothing fancy. My rating is based on the the girl making my food and the food itself. I was greeted by this really nice man who took the time to explain the menu since it was my first time there. I ended up ordering the Baja Wrap with shrimp instead of chicken and a drink which was about $20. They made me waiting 35 minutes! & no, the place was not busy, also keep in mind I only ordered ONE wrap! After the 35 mins I went up to the counter to see where my order was and the girl making my food gave me a dirty look and said "I'm working on it!" & rolled her eyes!!! So rude! I was simply asking since it had been so long! I wasted a total of 40 mins just to get a wrap.... Now onto the actual food... I took a bite out of it and let me tell you, this wrap was pure lettuce. When I say pure lettuce I mean pure lettuce!!! I opened it up cus you know maybe all the good toppings were in the center, but no!!!! To my surprise there was a total of 3 shrimp, 2 tomatoes and lettuce nothing else no corn, avocado, onion, nothing! It was terrible! I'm not sure if this is how they make their wraps or if the angry girl making my wrap made it this way. Either way, I will not be returning! read more

I had high hopes because the workers are sooo nice. However, I ordered a tuna lifestyle bowl and the tuna was over cooked and had a funk. The seasoning was off or something. I like the vibe, the owner is cool and the food is delicious but if you're coming here on a lunch break just don't. I don't understand why they took so long for a simple chicken salad, took almost 30 min to get my food (26 min) from the receipt and for a $15 dollar salad you'd expect the food to come out quicker. The place was not busy at all, maybe 5 people there total. The berry drink is delicious and the salad was decent, I probably won't be coming back though and since I'm only in this area for work I just don't have time to be waiting that long for my lunch. Apparently you have to call ahead if you want to get your food in a timely manner. I waited for 15 minutes for a salad but two people walked in behind me and ordered at the register and got their food before me and when I said something they said that they called ahead even though I heard them order. I don't even care what the food tastes like. read more

Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the food because it was so delicious I eat it immediately. The hospitality here is so warming and welcoming. It was my first time and when I walked in a gentlemen walked me through the entire menu and even gave me samples! I ordered a vegan salad and added salmon it was about $16, however, it is a big portion that I ate half of my food at the restaurant and the other half was my dinner. The food, customer service and environment is excellent. Can't wait to go again! Highly recommended. read more

Tried this place for lunch with a coworker today, and it was great! The manager (owner?) was so friendly and informative, and gave us all the details on what they had to offer. I sampled their "world famous" clam chowder and it was delicious! But we went to be healthy and have salad, so I ordered the beef-stro salad and my coworker ordered the Santorini. The salads are huge!! The restaurant makes most of their dressings in house, and have vegan and vegetarian options. I could go on, but words wouldn't do it justice! Try for yourself... we will definitely be going back again and again to try everything on the menu! read more

There is so much love, so much heart that is put into the food. Additionally, the amount of food is coma sending. I finished the food and was so ready to take a nap in the warm weather. It's literally like eating grandma's food when youre a young child. The spicy tuna came out first and we were shocked at how delicious the fish was. There wasn't a lot of rice which I appreciated and that fish had a bit of a kick. Pair that with some wasabi shoyu and you're tasting some real goodness. The spam musubi was solid with the furikake. My only gripe was that it had a bit too much rice which could have been better balanced with a thicker slice of spam. Regardless, it was solid. Now the star was the chicken combo. Boy oh boy, that Ladybug Fried Chicken was amazing. The batter had so much flavor and added to the juicy chicken. Pair that with you salad and mac salad.. oh my.. youre tasting a slice of Heaven! Fair warning, there is some grinded celery in the mac salad, so if youre allergic then let them know. Otherwise, that aroma of celery added so much depth to the mac. I can't emphasize enough, there is so much love in the food and the servers take gooooood care of you. It was also amazing to see how much attention to detail the owners put in the restaurant. There is ladybug decor all throughout the place and hand drawn papers from customers. It was really neat to see how much love they receive from their customers.

If you're looking for a spot that's casual, clean, and gives you that sports‑bar‑but-make-it-chill vibe, The Toss Up in Gardena is exactly that. TVs on, energy relaxed, and the kind of place where you can walk in looking like you just survived a weekend of bad decisions. It's got that friendly neighborhood sports‑bar feel, bright, tidy, and comfortable without trying too hard. You can actually hear yourself think, which is great because I needed a quiet moment to reflect on all the carbs I inhaled over the weekend. The Toss Up feels like a reset button disguised as a restaurant. Service is quick, welcoming, and on point. They greet you like they already know you're here to make better choices today. No judgment, just vibes and efficiency. Now let's talk about my chicken salad, aka my attempt at redemption. Fresh greens, juicy chicken, and enough flavor to make me forget I wasn't eating fries. It's satisfying without being heavy, the kind of salad that makes you feel like you're doing something responsible for your body, even if your body is still processing Saturday night. I took one bite and thought, "Wow... maybe I can turn my life around." Second bite: "Okay, maybe not today, but this salad is a good start." Listen, after eating like a raccoon in a trash can all weekend, this chicken salad felt like a spiritual cleanse. I swear my stomach whispered, "Thank you, bro." If salads had Yelp accounts, this one would leave me a five‑star review for finally behaving. Miguel read more

Title: A Gem in LA - Toss-Up! Review: A visit to Toss-Up was a delightful experience from start to finish! The Thai tuna bowl, with a shrimp substitution, was a flavor explosion, and the berry juice drink hit the spot - fresh, not overly sweet, just perfect! The owner surprised us with a sample of their acai smoothie, tasting like fresh ice cream - a real treat that has me hooked. Forget Jamba Juice; Toss-Up is my new go-to spot in LA! The environment is spotlessly clean, sleek, cute, and modern, creating a wonderful atmosphere for a meal. I absolutely recommend experiencing the wonders of this fantastic restaurant. Needless to say, I'll be coming back for more. One standout feature is their diverse menu options that cater to all diets. It's evident that Toss-Up considers every guest's preferences, ensuring a satisfying dining experience for everyone. In addition to the great food and welcoming atmosphere, the exceptional service and hospitality elevate the overall experience. Portion sizes are generous, guaranteeing you won't leave hungry. Toss-Up has truly won me over - a hidden gem that deserves all the praise. Don't miss out on this culinary gem in LA! read more

The food at this restaurant is not only healthy, but also delicious. The customer service is exceptional, thanks to the owner Rick who is always welcoming and full of positive energy. The menu offers a variety of options including salads, soups, and wraps, and I highly recommend trying the build-your-own salad with fresh greens, cilantro, peppers, and sauteed mushrooms with salmon. The portion of salmon was generous and the flavor was amazing. There are also a variety of tasty dressings to choose from. But the best part was when Rick let my friend and I taste his chili, tortilla, and clam chowder soups, which were all unique and delicious in their own way. The tortilla soup had just the right amount of spice and all the soups had a rich and flavorful taste. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant with friends and family, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy and enjoyable dining experience. Thank you, Rick, for your friendly staff and amazing energy that make this place a must-visit! read more

I had an incredible experience at TossUp, and I just have to share how amazing the customer service is! On my first visit, one of the employees was so friendly and took the time to explain the menu, offering great suggestions. The next day, I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, who was equally kind. He even let me sample the dressings to find my favorite and offered a taste of the soup, which was a nice touch. What I love about TossUp is that they offer more than just salads--they have delicious potatoes, pasta, and smoothies as well. The food itself was fantastic! As you can see from the picture, everything is beautifully prepared, with fresh ingredients chopped perfectly for easy eating. The attention to detail is clear, and it really enhances the overall experience. I can't wait to come back and spread the word about TossUp. The cali burrito, house made chips and smash burger were all fantastic, flavorful, not overly salty and fresh tasting. All their foods, sauces and dressings are made in house. Even their cookies and drip coffee are delicious and made in house. So glad we have found a new lunch spot. They apparently also have taco tuesdays and pizza thursdays, so we'll gladly be coming back.

I can confidently say i have tried nearly everything in the menu except for the tuna melt. I love that they upgrade their menu every few months because it never gets boring. The staff has always been extremely friendly since day 1. My favorite item on the menu would have to be the breakfast tacos. The food is always loaded never skimpy which is a plus. Definitely always try to recommend to everyone :)

He said the fried rice was 10/10, pork was disgusting and the orange chicken was super disgusting unbeatable. They fried the orange chicken in old rancid oil and it stunk. I can't speak to the tacos sold at a place that does drinks as I haven't tried them, but I can say the following: Ambiance (3/5): Small but cute, they don't skimp on AC even as it's a sunny little shop. Great for studying if you're able to nab a seat; they have three tables that seat 4 (maybe 5 if you bunch up on the bench). The natural lighting makes it pretty nice to so some work in there. They have an extension cord with multiple outlets tucked in the corner under the corner table. Service (4/5): Server was friendly and quick. I'm glad he asked if regular milk was okay because it reminded me that it's not for my husband. It's a small thing but it's appreciated! I also loved the little surprise of getting some extra smoothie in a small cup, perfect for my daughter. Why can't other shops be like this? Appreciate it! Drink (4/5): The strawberry banana smoothies tasted fresh. Real fruit bits and not overly sweet or artificial tasting. My husband and I both noted that it had great flavor. My only gripe was that it was still a bit icy; it was hard at times sucking the smoothie out of the boba straw we used. If it were blended fully and smoothly, I would say it would be near perfect. Would we come back? Based on this experience, if we need a quick stop for a drink before the freeway, this makes for a good stop. I wouldn't mind trying out one of their match drinks next time (those look pretty good)!
