Usually, I don't write a review because it is hard to give an opinion. I will use a SWOT analysis to share my point of view. First, I will say that as soon as you walk in, they great you like family. Usually, you can get a sense of how the food will be by the hospitality an establishment shows to its customers--a 10/10. SWOT Strengths * great hospitality * clean establishment * very helpful * good food Weakness * advertising - make your presence known Opportunities * social media It's free, and use it; you guys have great-tasting food. * great location to target the young hipsters out there. Threats * none - you guys have a great location and great product. If you can, stop by and try some of their great foods. It will not disappoint. Plus, it is a local business, so showing them some love for putting a healthy option in the community. Keep up the great work, and I will be returning soon. I will post pictures of my next visit. read more

A great place if your trying to eat healthy. Many great choices of fresh salads and bowls . I loved the green tea w jasmine (no sugar). Honestly I been looking for a place like this forever. Lots of choices of leafy greens and protein. Owner was very nice, awesome guy. For sure I'm coming back to try the other things on the menu. If you like eating healthy or trying to have better eating habits this is for sure the place to go. Grade A experience over all read more

Since the pandemic, we've made a commitment to support more small businesses. We live in the area, and have already begun frequenting many of the local eateries. One day, I noticed the "opening soon" banners, and kept a mental note of it. About a month or so later, my MIL calls my wife raving about this new "salad place". After a few minutes, I realized that she's taking about the same place that we passed weeks before. Instantaneous, we both agreed to a lunch date. As we park, I noticed the neighboring establishments had constant foot traffic. One actually had a line formed outside the door. After seeing that, I instantly had a nervous "I don't want us to be the only customers inside" feeling. The outside decor is modern, with slightly tinted windows, with a shared balcony area that offers a few dining tables. *Note: I strictly abide by the 7 (favorite number) seconds rule. If I'm not greeted within 7 seconds, I make a u-turn* Upon entering, we're instantly greeted with a cheerful "welcome"! On top of that, we weren't the only customers there, so my nervousness subsided. There was actually a line with a few people ahead of us. The inside is very modern as well, with a couple of (muted) TV's, while music played through the mounted speaker system. The seating area, which was about 60% full, is set up nice. There's a mixture of traditional booths, pull up chairs and bar-style seating. The menu was kinda confusing to me, but the young lady at the register patiently walked us through it. We both decided on their Greek (Santorini) Salad, with chicken and a couple of different flavored smoothies. We had an option to have our dressing on the side, or mixed. I chose mixed, my wife had hers on the side. Although the prices are clearly written on the menu, I was sticker shocked by the total amount. It took awhile for our name/order to be called, so we secured one of the bar-style tables next to the window. Our original plan was to take the food home, because again, "I don't want us to be the only customers inside". But because of the wait time, we were too comfortable and hungry to leave. We took turns visiting the (very clean) restrooms to wash up, and also to be nosey. Who want to eat at a restaurant with a dirty restroom? Not us! As for the food, the salad was freaking DELICIOUS!!!! And the smoothie was a perfect compliment to it. If anything, I'll ask for extra olives next time. That's just because I'm an olive guy, because I really didn't have room for any extra anything. Seriously, I don't know if salads are supposed to be this fulfilling. To save some "lunch" money, and room for dinner, we decided that the next time we'll share a salad. All in all, this is a place we see ourselves returning to quite often. In the future, we'll split a salad for lunch, and splurge for dinner. If it matters, we're in our very early forties. read more

Great service, vibe and food. Black Owned healthy eating is basically unheard of in that area and they fit right in! Tell a friend to tell a friend! read more

So yummy. Soups, salads, wraps, baked potatoes and more! Samples, smoothies and fresh drinks! Let's support a healthy option!!

Let me start by saying there is nothing like a business that looks up & greets you when you walk through the door with a genuine welcoming smile & a hello, welcome . Then there's the clean bright open seating & salad prep area. Excellent in the exposure. The nice televisions on the wall were great this football Sunday. I did not miss any action. BUT THE REAL COMPLIMENT GOES TO THE SALAD! Mine was off the chain!!!! I taste a full veggie explosion with their homemade vinaigrette. DELICIOUS!!! I have to fully support this business. It's black owned and #sherellesfamousfriedchicken loves you. read more

I'm a customer that always appreciates a delicious salad but this by far is overwhelming over priced for the presentation. The staff was not unknowingly about certain additive things I had curiosities with. The menu is cluttered. Whichever made my overall 1st experience my last definitely did not finish my salad. Will not be returning. read more

Omg this establishment is amazing. The decor of the place is so inviting and vibrant. I absolutely love the staff they are so friendly. The food is amazing. You can build your own salad... or opt for a hot meal instead. I always get the spaghetti... my dad loves the baked stuffed potatoes and of course the build your own salads. They have a great selection of dressings which changes the flavor of your salad so you never get tired of eating the same thing. This place is amazing like I actually rather eat there rather than opting for to-go, because of the cleanliness and the big screen tv's. I love the toss up it's an amazing place to eat with an amazing staff and great selection of food. You should definitely stop in for a bite to eat if you're in the area. read more

The Toss Up - Exceptional Salad Option for the Salad Lover. - Salad Near Me - Gardena, California

The pictures on Yelp are nothing compared to what these salads actually look like. Went in about an hour ago because I saw fantastic reviews and I'm happy to finally see a salad place in the area. Completely disappointed. Got the Cobb salad (looked amazing on Yelp) absolutely terrible. Payed 4$ extra for chicken and they forgot to add it on..they forgot the avocado as well, gave me the wrong dressing. Paid for a 18$ salad when the prepackaged salads from grocery stores have better quality than what I just tried. Try the Mediterranean place next door. Way better. read more

I ordered the Mandarin salad; and there was nothing special about it. They forgot to include the extra protein and avocado that I asked for. The salad was bland. I also ordered an açaí bowl that was pretty bad. I paid $26 for this and I think a salad from The Habit is much better. read more

My partner and I really enjoy the fresh food offered here. I especially love the fact that I can get a savory baked potato that's loaded with cheese! It takes awhile for the food to be ready but it's worth it! I also get a veggie wrap to go with my baked potato and I always have leftovers for my next meal. My partner always gets the spaghetti and says it's really good as well. The only bummer is that it's closed on Saturday's read more

And I've already been back! I wanted another Waldorf salad and a coworker wanted one, too, so I ordered two Waldorfs without chicken online. When I arrived to pick them up they were once again ready, right on time, with one exception, there was no bacon on them. See, the person who made the salads thought perhaps my omission of chicken was to make the salad vegetarian, in which case the bacon should obviously be left off. I greatly appreciate the attention to detail shown for my order. In fact we did want the bacon, but I think it's great that the person making it paid enough attention, and used enough common sense, to think that perhaps the bacon should be left off, and he then asked the folks by the pickup area to check to see if I wanted the bacon. The bacon was immediately added to them and I was on my way. Way to go on customer service, The Toss Up! I love that, had I been wanting a vegetarian version, the salads would not have had to be remade, especially with the food waste that goes along with those instances. Seriously. This is exemplary customer service and conscientiousness. You have a fan for life. read more

First time there and everyone was super welcoming! I had the chance to speak with the owner, Rick, and he is so sweet. Everything was so good and portion sizes are great too! read more

Glad to have a place with fresh, healthy and reasonably priced options. The first time we got food there was a minor mishap(they forget chicken on a salad, not the end of the world). My wife brought it up and the manager personally called to rectify the issue. Good to see a small business pop up and offer great service. I hope they thrive here in the neighborhood. read more

Only giving them a 4 because the time is ridiculous. The food and service is great. The staffs a bit young so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. The food is good. Very fresh. But man be prepared for long wait! At least 40 minutes for a salad read more

Yay, they finally opened! Got takeout tonight. We got a Waldorf salad and a chicken pesto pasta. Food is good, super fresh and love the salad dressing. I do agree it's a little salty, and the pasta was a bit oily- but In time I'm sure they will work all of these little bugs out. Welcome to the neighborhood! Super friendly staff!!! read more

Great salad place! Nice and welcoming. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back for more!

For a $20 salad, I really expect it to be good..really good. Its really a hit or miss and mostly a miss at this place. I have been here 3 times and two I have been disappointed. I wont ever be back. My salad today was so soggy and nasty, It is not edible. Truly disappointing. I ordered online a 1030am for pickup at 12. It tastes like they let my salad sit out for those entire 2 hours. When the salad is good, its actually pretty good but thats a big gamble for the price. read more

I will re-rate this after my second visit and it probably should be a one. But, the young lady who helped me was especially considerate given both when I called her earlier in the PM to see if they could do take out (all the websites say "doesn't do take out" and I thought that was strange so I called and found out that they do take out and have a few tables outside. I told her that I would call back later to order: that this was the first time trying their menu. The menu is blurry online so my old eyes was having a difficult time. They have a few salads that already have a recipe but didn't appeal to me. I liked that you could substitute items, online sites, like Doordash and Yelp and was pretty easy to navigate. I decided to "Build my own salad" so I called because there was only the delivery option and I wanted take-out. Granted I had a number of unusual requests and the gal that answered the phone (the one I spoke to earlier) took my ordered. First, I wanted Kale, Arugula, and Kale for greens. The register would only let her put 2 but she was able to rectify it by putting in a "note." (some of the menus that you see will not show arugula as a choice. You get 4 choices as salad additions that comes with the base price of $10 (you will see some menus at $9). There's and extensive list of adds for $.50 and $1.00 premium adds plus a large list of salad dressings. I ordered beets, edamame, daikon sprouts, and red onion. They didn't have the beets that was their own menu. I substituted sautéed mushrooms but asked them to make them raw. Guess they can't do it. I was told that they were sautéed in olive oil for 30 seconds and then marinated. I told her that my oil is limited and I was worried (with the salad dressing). She noted to use light oil on the order (didn't understand why, if they were sautéed it in light oil that they couldn't just put them in raw. I also ordered tomatoes and purple cabbage ($.50 each) and a premium add of artichoke hearts ($1.00). I also ordered my salad dressing on the side because some of the restaurants mix it in. I don't eat much at one sitting and dressing will make salad soggy. I got home to find my salad totally wet and knew that most of it would be wasted. Also, even though it was tossed, all the edamame was on the bottom in a corner, the artichoke hearts on top in a corner and the rest mixed. The dressing was on the side as requested but the salad was wet with more dressing than I would normally use. After a series if 3 separate phone calls (1st call: the same young lady called to give me a refund-told her I paid cash; 2nd call: she offered me my next salad free; 3rd call: she said the manager said they would have one delivered). They also called to say that the person who made the salad did put the dressing on the side but the "wet" was from the mushroom marinade. Geez, if I added the dressing, it would've been more wet. If you're a small eater, order everything wet on the side, including tomatoes. Suggested: if you have veggies at home, order what you don't have as toppings. In fact, it might be prudent for them to ask whether customers want it mixed. I did end up squeezing some lemon on the portion I was eating. Don't know what the rest will look like tomorrow. I did add some spinach and sesame seeds from home. Everything was fresh. Because of the effort made to make sure that they took care of me, I gave a 2. As I said before, they invited me back so I will update this review then. read more

If you haven't tried this place yet and live in the South Bay or are visiting.....it's A MUST!! Anyone from this area knows finding a restaurant that serves salads is slim to none....at least quality food. This time I visited and got their Cobb wrap. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!
