    Chai Tea Latte & Quiche

Great service, ambience, drinks and food! From the pastries, breakfast items to sandwiches and desserts, it's all made with love and so delicious! It's across from fantastic hiking trails and a must visit before or after any hikes in the area!! There's also lots of table seating

This was a really nice place as a quick stop to get snacks before hikes. Their quiche I recommend - not too heavy, but just enough to give you energy for a hike. Staff are very nice. Since this is a hiking area there's only outdoor seating. It makes you feel like you're in nature. There is a huge line so expect to wait 15 minutes or so before you reach the cashier.

You will be faced with a long line so come prepared. Their coffee is so good, tastes like real coffee. It's perfect before you go on a hike or hang out at the park. The egg in a basket is also so good, I crave it daily. I come here during the week just to grab a coffee and avoid the crowd but when I'm hiking on a weekend it's a non-negotiable. Highly recommend.

Happy 20th Anniversary to The Trails cafe! The existence of this cafe is such a wonderful respite for those before/after a hike/workout or just spending a day at The Griffith Park. Notes: ~ Hours: Open daily from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM except for Tuesdays which is 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. ~ Ample cement tables and seating under the various trees (walked by an olive tree) ~ Perfect setting for family/friend gatherings, date spot, or solo enjoyment to get some work/study done ~ Since it's all outdoors, it's definitely pet-friendly ~ Reasonable prices for baked goods, drinks and sandwiches (keep in mind sandwiches are only offered from 10am - 4:45pm) ~ Vegetarian/vegan-friendly options ~ Parking situation: alongside the road or if you go up the hill, there is a parking lot ~ Across the street from a playground area that has two restrooms and also portable toilets Food/Drinks: * Avocado Sandwich ($13) - this is a MUST get, especially for the vegans and those who just genuinely enjoy veggies. The soy bacon bits were interesting as the texture almost reminded me of rice krispies, but colored red. * Egg in a Basket ($6) - slightly larger than an egg bite, but it's an egg atop their sweet wheat bread with nutless pesto, parmesan and chives. This was very tasty and would recommend to anyone wanting a savory snack. * Raspberry Almond Scone ($6) - their seasonal offering that was not very sweet, which was such a welcomed surprise. Really enjoyed this large pastry and would love to come back to try the chocolate lavender scone. * Good Day Latte ($5.50) - this small non-caffeinated drink is a functional turmeric and mushroom latte. Got it with oat milk which was an extra $0.75 charge. You can opt for hot or cold too. I went with hot and it was so good! A good friend told us about this cafe and said there's usually a line to order, but we came on the afternoon of July 4th and there was no queue. Service was nice, but I got my latte after all the food, which means the drinks were backed up. Weather that day was perfect too - high 70s! The squirrels were getting pretty close to the tables even though there were dogs around. Someone was napping on the cement bench. If you're coming down from the Griffith Observatory, why bother looking for parking around Los Feliz when you can just stop by this convenient cafe to grab a bite and/or enjoy a drink in nature?

A very nice coffee shop; it feels like you're in the woods. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of tables and benches. The only downside is that the benches are concrete and cold. The apple pie was delicious, the coffee tasted a bit sour, but we really liked everything. They have internet, which is great because my phone's internet doesn't work. I recommend it.

Amazing the Good Day Latte was excellent w/oatmilk along with the buttermilk biscuit the best, I shared the quiche everything was freshly made good.

    Snakedog Avocado Sandwich Lavendar Shortbread

I wanted to try this cafe because I saw it online somewhere and thought it was a great way to treat myself after hiking at Griffith. However, the berries and avocado in my sandwich were sour due to their clearly nearing expiration date. Also, the snake dog was cold and dry. The only good thing I had was the lavendar shortbread which was surprisingly fragrant and delicious. The ambiance was very much like you would expect. There were lots of tables, but they were just the typical dirty picnic tables you see at any park. The shack appeared quite dirty looking, and I would not be shocked if there were bugs or other vermin around, but I feel like that is pretty unavoidable in small outdoor places like this. The service was average. I did not find the cashier to be especially rude, something I noticed a lot of people complained about. Overall, I would probably stick to my usual post-hike spots. I don't think this place was anything special, and it was actually pretty pricey for mediocre food.

Avocado Sandwich & Iced Chai Tea Latte

The Avocado sandwich is fresh, full of good avocado, crisp and soft veggies with a slight savory cheese and bacon bits flavor, yummy and ideal pre-hike! The line is a bit long to order but the food is made relatively quick. It's worth it!

10/23/24 It's my lucky day (well, after missing our flight), I finally happened to come here when this coffee shop is open. When we (my Hubby now, bf then) lived in Hollywood eons ago, I used to hike towards Griffith Park & must've passed by this shop many times. I am not entirely certain if it even existed at all. It's my kind of place, the same way I would find rustic places to be ideal. Or finding a wayward diner in a sleepy town like Twin Peaks to order a cup of coffee & a slice of pie to enjoy at the counter. Iconic. It's a stand alone structure with a varied menu for coffee or tea (hot or cold, lattes of interesting flavors, etc) There are baked goods like huge cookies, scones, quiche & I think they make sandwiches as well. I ordered a hot small matcha latte ($5.50) & a lavender shortbread cookie ($4.25) a bit pricey but it may be par for the course in these parts. The matcha had the right amount of earthiness to it but it is tiny, I thought it was like a couple of gulps (.lol). The cookie did taste fantastic because I distinctly smelled the wonderful aroma of the lavender, rich & buttery, too. The little shop does not have indoor dining area but plenty of cement benches spread out in the property to enjoy your goodies. Squirrels might join your little soirée lol. What's not to love? I was able to enjoy this lovely treat at the great lush outdoors of Griffith Park! Check out the photos! The staff were okay, friendly enough, straightforward. Parking is wherever you could find along the road that leads to the Observatory, free. Hubby just chilled while I took photos, sipped & savored my latte/cookie. Great experience! Would love to return to try more of their menu items.

Got there on a Saturday morning around 8:30am. There wasn't a line to wait but we still waited a while to get our coffee. Not sure if they were backed up or understaffed but I waited around 35-40 min just for a latte. I can't imagine how long it would take to wait if the line is really long. I got a chai tea which was really good so at least the chai tea latte was good. It's a nice spot to stop by before going on the hike and there's plenty of seating near the cafe and behind there's tables. I got lucky and found parking right in front otherwise, it might be a hassle to find something.

This is a great spot to hit up in Griffith Park either before or after a hike. The line is almost always kind of long on the weekends though, so prepare to wait. They have a number of fresh baked sweet and savory pastries. It was so hard to choose. I had the lavender shortbread, which was unfortunately a miss for me, It was a sugar cookie not shortbread. Very different textures. But the strawberry lemonade was really good. Also had a bite of my husband's avocado sandwich, which was delicious. The crowd was kind of a mix of Hollyweirdos, families, and millennials, so do with that what you like. There's a fair amount of seating but you could also just take stuff with you on a hike or eat in your car if you had to. Really nice place when it's not too hot. Can't wait to try some of the savory pastries next time.

Fly eggs on food!! Initially I prepared to give a 5 star rating for the apple pie and latte I ordered... until my boyfriend found fly eggs on the paper wrapper his quiche came in. He had already finished the quiche by the time he noticed something odd looking and I was mortified to see that they were fly eggs. I sent him over to the cashier who checked us out to ask for a refund (not something I would normally ever do) and to my dismay I hear her giggling about it but at least she apologized??? Absolutely disgusting and they only refunded the amount for the quiche. Edit: It was a mini frittata, not a quiche. My bf also let me know that one of the workers said, "You're gonna be coughing up flies" as a response to him informing them of the fly eggs.

8oz latte - great! beats sbux for same price. the lavender chocolate scone meh. May, 2025
    Alex D.

Took me years to check out this cafe coming to Griffith, as I expected the prices to be thru the roof, which was not the case and I am very grateful for that. The latte was really good! The price close was close to what you'd pay at Starbucks but it tasted creamier and stronger. Th lavender chocolate scone sounded soo much better than it actually was. The menu is very short and has beverages, freshly home-made pastries as, and a few kinds of vegan sandwiches (one had egg on it). The picnic tables are awesome and it was enough for all customers.

Afterwards, we sat at the store to try the danish since we were hungry. Have to say it measures up to another one of my favorite patisseries that is located in Del Mar called Clemente. The danish texture was soft yet super flakey, and the thin layer of vanilla cream to strawberry ratio was perfection. It's so hard to find places that have exceptional quality croissant pastries, but this place is on the top of our list for LA. We enjoyed the cakes at home afterwards, but everything was so delicious. Unfortunately we forgot to take oir own ice packs and took a minute to get back home so the cakes slightly melted, but even after putting them in the fridge to enjoy later, they were so good! I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. This is like calling a cut of meat a filet mignon and serving a hamburger. Von's, Ralphs and Albertson's make better cupcakes than this for a fraction of othe price.

We saved the best for last on our weekend LA jaunt, and were not disappointed! Since we weren't…read moresure if we'd have a chance to return here soon, we splurged on the Tartufo pizza and portobello fries. The pizza was even better than described, with mozzarella, fontina, truffle peccorino, creme fraiche, truffle mushroom pate on a perfectly cooked crust. This was topped with a soft cooked egg and freshly shaved Sabatino black truffles. Although the truffles were shaved across the large restaurant, we could smell it from our table! I normally prefer to avoid most "truffle" anything due to questionable quality and its tendency to overpower any other taste, but this one was the OG! The fresh truffle shavings along with the truffle pate added a pleasant earthiness to the rich and salty cheeses. We accepted the waiter's offer to spread the egg yolk over the pizza. Best to let the pro do it. Adding a soft cooked egg to almost anything will elevate it. I definitely recommend this pizza! The portobello fries had a yummy thin crust that stayed crispy throughout the meal. They were placed upright in a holder so also stayed warm. Of course no visit here would be complete without going to the bakery. We got some macaroons for the road, including a giant raspberry one with fresh raspberries that provided a bit of heaven during our flight home. The oatmeal raisin cookie and chocolate croissant were also delicious!

I love Bottega Louie!! Last weekend I celebrated my birthday here for dinner. I made a reservation…read morewhich makes it so much easier to get seated on a busy night. Sure enough, we were seated right away. My daughter and I love the Portobello fries for a starter. They are so delicious and crispy, and the dipping sauce pairs perfect. For our meal we decided to share a Cesar salad and a pizza. For dessert we actually wanted the CHOCOLATE FRAMBOISE but they were all out. They actually were out of quite a bit of their pastries. The whole pastry counter was completely empty. I asked the server why it was empty and he mentioned they sold out due to graduation season. I decided on the crème brûlée and my daughter ordered chocolate gelato. We enjoyed our dessert. As for the ambiance, if you're looking for a romantic quiet restaurant for dinner. Bottega Louie is not for you. It is a loud up beat restaurant. I personally enjoy it. They have a person making the pizza towards the back and this night a table of guests were cheering him on as he threw the pizza dough up in the air multiple times. So fun to watch! The chefs are also cooking your food with a clear glass around them so you can watch as they prepare the food. Definitely recommend!!
