My first time at this restaurant. Overall impressions were mediocre. Pretty quiet location within the mall. If you weren't looking for it you wouldn't find it. I sat at the bar and service was good. Bar tenders were readily available. Drinks were quick, but menu service was a little slow. Once ordered the food came out piping hot! Delicious bag of shrimp and snow crab legs, two potatoes and a piece of corn. Really good but pricey! Great meal for two to split, abundant amount for one person. Be aware!!! They do not fully cook their sausage all the time. I went to Twisted crab with my mom, niece and sister for my moms birthday. We all ordered bags it was tasty (I had T1). And my niece and I walked away with food poisoning. We believe their sausage were not fully cooked and it caused us really bad stomach aches and diarrhea. My mom and sister were fine but unfortunately my niece and I were the unlucky ones. So if you go beware and make sure to check your sausage! read more

I went today and it was great. The restaurant was new and very clean. All Staff were friendly and welcoming. Our waitress Kesha was very personable. The person at the desk greeting customers was more concerned about her nails than a customer walking in the door. So I have been to the Twisted Crab twice, first experience was a solid 4 star experience. My second visit was maybe a 1 or 2 star experience which is why i give it overall a 3 star. My last experience the waitress I had, can we say lackluster. Did not smile, came off as she didn't want to be there. Give her our order and she comes out with drinks. We wait about 20 minutes for what we ordered. She then drops off our food and is never seen again. Never got a drink refill or anything. The only reason she came to the table is because I stopped her and asked for to go stuff and the check. Both myself and my husband were thirsty as hell and she never once asked how we were doing. My husband thought she didn't even deserve a tip but I still have her one even with the horrible service. read more

I love seafood!! In the last 3 months I've hit 6 seafood restaurants in 4 states. (I travel a lot). I always order the seafood boil consisting of 1 lobster tail a half crab, headless shrimp potatoes and corn. Every place I've gone to has consistently served the same options. I guess I expected better here since this place was in a coastal town of the Atlantic but out of the 6 this one was the most mediocre. The flavoring was bland and the lobster was tough. My last night in Chesapeake and I find this restaurant. There were 5 of us so we were able to try the shrimp snow crab legs crawfish and sausage. The potatoes were on point the corn on the cob was over cooked but I think it was because they use frozen corn to keep it consistent. The flavor was awesome the seafood was cooked perfect. I made a pickup order through the phone and was very satisfied at first, given the fact the person that helped me said the food would be ready in about 10 minutes as I arrived, i was greeted by two hosts who were very sweet but when I went to pick up my food there was nobody there I waited about 10 minutes to get helped out when I realized the workers were sitting down having a regular conversation? One of the men got up once to check on a table right next to me and as I was about to ask him about my order he walked away and went right back to sitting down. So about 15 mins later somebody finally comes to the desk and I got my food. The shrimp was ok it was very salty but truly could've been worse. We ate at this restaurant for dinner on Sunday 9/12/2021. The restaurant had great curb appeal. The atmosphere was relaxing . The dining area is a little dark only because of color scene (for me), but my husband didn't think so . Dining area is clean. The waitress was very attentive to our needs , professional, pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu, unfortunately I do not remember her name. We ordered the crab, lobster and shrimp seafood boil with the twisted sauce , medium spice . Our order was ready within 20 minutes. Our meals were flavorful without the heat . Great for me. I recently went to the Twisted Crab Seafood and Bar we ordered a kids meal with buffalo wings and fries. My daughter enjoyed it. I ordered a shrimp basket with onion rings. The shrimp was tasty and the onion rings were really greasy but ok. The waitress was not very attentive to our table which bothered me a lot: because she did not check on us and our order took a really long time. I'm so upset with twisted crab . I order a boil bag on doordash which was $40 dollars for one person. I figured hey their food is usually good why not. The corn was dry like it was over cooked for hours and the crawfish was dry also. I was totally disappointed I'm from New Orleans so I know my seafood. Been to the #TwistedCrab a couple times and every experience is identical. So I can honestly say I have experienced the best and the worst of this place. Let's start with the food, if the #ShakingCrab is name brand then the #TwistedCrab is the #FoodLion brand. But I don't want you to thinking that's a bad thing. I have NEVER had bad food here, also I have never had breathtaking food here. The service is always #OnPoint and I enjoy myself every-time. I also have to give an excellent rating to the fact that I have never had to wait two or more hours for a table. If you stop in here you won't wait for a table, you will have good food, and you will have #TopNotch service. The #Seafood is enough to satisfy my addiction and the seasonings are on par! I stopped in for a quick lunch while at the mall and I should have just stayed in line at Chik-fil-A. Granted, I was not going for the crab legs, but for what I was hoping a small satisfying lunch (& maybe a drink?). The menu offered large portions (combos) and smaller portions (baskets) , and since I wasn't planning on going on all out for crab legs / sausage/ shrimp/ corn and potatoes, I ordered the fried oyster basket and an Angry Orchard (no mimosas for brunch or mojitos...but they do offer beer, wine and mixed drinks). This is not the place for an early lunch or brunch. The oysters were ok-not a ton of breading, but NO flavor. The server reassured me they were sea-side oysters, but not local. They did not taste salty like seaside oysters, but they weren't from the local down stream river, either. For a seafood place I expect to know where the food is coming from, and unfortunately, they didn't have many (straight) answers. Atmosphere is not at all what I expected. Restaurant has a fast food vibe and the food is mediocre at best. The watery sauces weren't as flavorful as they could be, the crab legs were overcooked and stuck to the shell, and the server forgot a lot of what we had asked for throughout our time there. We kindly repeated our requests as to not be rude and still tipped well but this was a contributor to us deciding not to return again. Our main reason for us not going back is that the price is too high for the food to be such low quality and for a customer to be looking out of restaurant windows right into a bright lit mall. There is a place that has been in business in this area waaaay longer that is less expensive with food that will keep you coming back. We will continue to go there! The only reason we didn't this day is due to their 2 hour wait. Next time, we will either wait or go a different route. read more

Update: I came back on Sunday like I said I would and I was so pleased. Although the food had a little wait it was worth every minute of it. I came in before the big wait. If I come back into this establishment and she's still there then I'll be turning right back out of the door. That's how rude she is. It's unbelievable. I've never seen someone so rude who worked in a restaurant establishment. I think you need to sit down with this particular worker. Okay so as a fan of seafood boils I was eager to try The Twisted Crab to see how they match up. It was perfect. I figured that I'd have to wait because of the type of restaurant it was but my party of 5 was seated immediately which caused me to worry. I'm used to there being an extremely long line and a ridiculous wait so when I didn't encounter either I was thought oh this place must suck so no one comes here. Boy was I wrong. The service, the atmosphere, the amount of space, cleanliness, the price and especially the food were all excellent. I began to eat so fast that I didn't even get the chance to take pictures. Most of my party ordered the same thing. Crab & shrimp boil with potatoes and corn. I added extra potatoes and sausage and left off the corn with the Twisted Sauce mild. The flavor of the sauce was divine. The sauce was a bit spicier but it worked and unlike other places I didn't experience the huge chunks of garlic. This was some of the freshest and tastiest seafood I've ever had in my life. Not overcooked or mushy and not over seasoned but just right. We were visiting the restaurant in celebration of my birthday which my friend let our waiter Cortez know so at the end of our meal he came out with a piece of cheesecake with a strawberry topping.
