The customer service here is shockingly good. My first time here sealed the deal. I needed to renew my passport and get the photo done. I wasn't sure how to get all of the paperwork in order and they helped me through the whole process. Definitely above and beyond the call of duty. They also happily help me tape up precariously packed boxes and make sure my shipping documents are right before I walk out to carry on with my day. Do not go to this store for any Notary Services! They don't know what they are doing. No clue about what Alameda County Clerk Recorders Office requires to authenticate a legal document/notary. They made me waste hours back and forth. Never admitted their mistakes. This happened 2 separate times this year, with two ladies. Money returned. They should not be authorized to do Notary Services. Save yourself the headache, money and time by going somewhere else. read more

This UPS store has handled everything for me that I can throw at them: passport photos, unpacked oddly shaped shipments, notary. They always handle me and every other customer I've seen in there with kindness and patience. I was recently in there needing notary services the week before Xmas, I was in an awful mood, stressed to the max, the store was slammed with customers, and even with my sourpuss attitude they were as gracious and helpful as ever. Here's the thing. We all need the ups store at some point, and I can't judge their other services. The one I normally use is fantastic and always goes above and beyond. I don't have a printer, who does really anymore? I forgot to print a single page and came here because they offer printing right? They wanted me to pay 3$ just to log on the computer and print a single page. I realize this is going to sound petty. I mean the amount is so minimal. But in 2017 there is no alternative way to print a 5 cent black and white copy of a letter? I asked if I can just email; they refused. I am currently writing this review from Mexico...and that's all because of Shital at the UPS Store on Piedmont Ave. It's a long story but tldr: I left my passport in Oakland over the holidays when I was first traveling up North to Seattle. On Christmas Eve (tuesday), my friend got into my apartment and found my passport and went to the UPS Store to ship it to me asap. Someone at the store guaranteed my friend that if she did the two-day shipping, it would get to me by Saturday. However, when I went online to check the status, it was supposed to arrive by Monday end of day. This was a problem because my flight to mexico was supposed to leave 7 am on Monday (eek!). I called UPS National and they were not helpful at all, saying my friend actually didn't drop the package off on Tuesday (even though she did and I literally had the receipts). They said there was nothing they could do. I then called the UPS store on Piedmont Ave and was lucky to have found Shital. She explained that there had been a delay between the UPS Piedmont Store and the shipping center, but she then went on to spend the next several hours, making calls & emails to see what could be done to expedite the process. While I ended up paying more to get it to me on time, I am incredibly grateful for Shital who went above and beyond to ensure my package was delivered on the day it was guaranteed and so that I could enjoy a much-needed vacation in some warm weather. Thank you, Shital! I will note that while I'm forever appreciative of Shital's work, I am still frustrated by the whole process and the fact that my friend was guaranteed it would be delivered on Saturday but I then had to do additional work and spend additional dollars for it to actually happen. If I were just rating Shital, I would give 5 stars, but I can't in good faith give 5 stars because of everything else that happened. read more

I enjoyed friendly service @ this location (and agree that Hiten's laugh is terrific) until I had a problem. Then, the atmosphere changed. Female clerk: "The 2-day air pkg we shipped for you hasn't arrived after 5 days? You'll have to call UPS." Me: "This IS UPS." FC: "No, it's not. This is a UPS store. UPS stores are different from UPS." I've now had countless phone calls and email exchanges w/ UPS, and the envelope is supposed to be delivered today, 7 days after I sent it. Oh, and Hiten's UPS store won't begin the (10-14 day) process of refunding my $28 until AFTER the package has been received. Does this policy make sense? If it's lost forever, will I never get a refund? And wouldn't you open your cash drawer for a long-time customer and hand her the lousy $28? The envelope in question was intended for a Marine Corps officer who had to leave the shipping location a day after the package was supposed to arrive. When I explained this to the UPS store and UPS, no one ever asked, "Gee, can we help you get it to the Marine @ his new location?" I'm back to FedEx. At least when they've screwed up, they pretended to care. read more

I have really mixed feelings about this place. Everyone there has been really nice and polite, but my most recent experience has left me feeling very negative about UPS as a whole. I tried sending a package overnight (paying extra for early delivery) to somebody in the hospital and it got returned as undeliverable. However, nobody told me this until I found out by accident that it hadn't made it there. UPS is claiming the package wasn't addressed properly. This is untrue. UPS is still refusing to refund my (wasted) money. I will not make the mistake of using UPS to mail anything important ever again. I'm sorry, guys on Piedmont Avenue, you're nice, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth and a void in my wallet. read more

I went to return a Zappos package, and was surprised they didn't email me a label. I called 2 times and they said, "no worries, just take it to the store and they'll print it." I stopped by the store and was in line when the staff asked why I was there. When I told them I had a return package, and that the label would be emailed to them, the attendant GLARED at me and very rudely told me, "we don't do that." When I was finally served, I was told that it was going to cost me $3.50 to print the label. Hello. I can do that for next to nothing at home and tape it on myself. Sending it USPS with a Paypal label is about $5.06. 2 lessons here: 1) NEVER go back to this store; 2) Zappos staff should tell customers that UPS stores charge for printing labels. read more

June 2015 I used the website for online printing services ( two 6pg documents) and received an order confirmation two days ago. When I went to pick up the order today the lady at the store said she didn't have it. I showed her the order number to see if there was a mistake and she didn't bother to type it in or look at it. She said, " If I don't have it I don't have it." I asked for the manager and she said this was a franchise and she was the manager and owner. The store was empty and she did nothing to help me. Her tone was rude and dismissive. I already paid money online for the printing and left with nothing. I asked for a corporate number and her store number to file a formal complaint and she refused to provide the information. I went online and found the information myself. She didn't even bother to give me a refund or make any effort to locate my documents. Save your money and go elsewhere! The owner here is RUDE and has no customer service skills at all. Piedmont has plenty of printing options and shouldn't support a store that can't treat people properly. UPDATE AUGUST 2015: I have contacted the store owner multiple times and UPS customer service and still no refund. I reported them to the BBB. read more

I have been going here for over five years and they have consistently provided ouststanding service. Intially I used them only for my packagiing and shipping needs. But recently I started hiring them for small moving projects - well relatively small moving projects. They moved 50 mannequins for us - so not exactly a small project. I was in there about two months ago. I should have wrote this sooner but I have been trying not to DIE from Covid. But I wanted to report how horrible the owner acted. I think she was the owner, because when I asked to talk to a manager/owner, she volunteered herself as such. She will know who she is when she reads this. You won't forget this interaction easily. I left there yelling at the whole staff for their unkindness over what I thought was a simple drop off of an oversized item from Amazon. I wanted to return something and I had been there many times but usually a young man helps me. Also before there was another curly haired lady who was rather rude, but I noticed with others she was very nice. Not sure if it was the color of my skin but there would be no other reason. So anyway, I went to drop off my package and I asked for some tape and this woman (owner) berated me that they do not offer tape anymore. I actually had to go home to put the damn tape on. I live up the street so I just wanted to get this back to Amazon. I came back very upset and something wasn't well enough taped so I had to ask for some tape and by now I was fuming! She still refused and I yelled at her for being highly unprofessional and especially during these hard times, not just give me a freakin piece of tape after she knew I went home and tried to obliged. She was a real piece of work. She couldn't have been the owner, because no one would want this bad review, right? She was just an angry little woman. read more

I have been a customer for 10+ years and can't believe I'm still putting up with the horrible customer service attitudes. I just don't want the trouble and risk of changing my mailing address. Recently they implemented a new policy - they won't give you your mail if you forget your mailbox key! Even if they are standing with nothing to do - they seem to feel it is important to teach their customers lessons. Went here on the previous recommendations of good passport photos. The photos were taken with a hand held camera with blinding flash and came out so-so. I figured it's not a beauty contest, and as long as the photos are usable, I'll take 'em. Back at home I checked the state department guidelines and now I can see the photographer did a poor job of meeting the specs of size/position. The photos may be unusable. Not sure if I just came at a bad time, but I'd go elsewhere for passport photos. Two stars for quick and friendly service. read more

I go to this ups store, often instead of the regular post office on 41st, because the guy who runs the store is amazingly kind. He might be middle-eastern, or persian, or a mix, anyhow that doesnt matter. He is efficient, smiles, works on multiple orders simultaneously, and works very very hard. I have not ever had a problem with getting a piece of tape- maybe the prices are a bit more, but in my mind, I totally like to support kind and conscious folk. read more

I can't tell you how many times I've gone in frantic and feeling desperate to get my packages to their destinations on time, and the staff is happy to answer my questions and tend to the details. This place is terrible. I was in need of photocopying services and found that this UPS Store offered a 15% discount on photocopies if you present your AAA card. I went in and made about 90 copies and handed the gentleman at the counter my AAA card. He informed me that his location does not offer the discount. I explained that his specific location was listed as one that offers a discount and he said they do not. He was rather rude with his answer. In addition, the copies were quite pricey (nearly $10 for 90 black and white). I will not go to this store again. The service was not good and the gentleman working at the time I was there was not helpful when I complained that they were advertised as offering a discount. read more

We shipped a package to this store for pickup. After the package was received by the store, they decided to apply a $25. We were held hostage to paying the fee under threat of sending the package back. Since this is a UPS store and we shipped to the store, I find it deceitful that any fees were not built into the cost charged when the package was sent. Although this is ""The UPS Store", I came to learn it is a franchise. When I complained, the owner's customer service skills were abysmal. For some reason, she felt the need to call my daughter (the shipper), stating that I had threatened the store clerk. While I was unhappy about the transaction there was no hint of a threat. I intend to complain to UPS about poor treatment and unfair billing practices. If there is extra cost associated with receiving a package at the UPS store, there is no reason why that fee shouldn't be revealed at the time of shipping. read more

This was the most painless UPS store experience I've ever had. We had to wait a while as the man working helped a few women that were there ahead of us, but he apologized several times and assured us he would be with us shortly. Once it was our turn, he handled the transaction efficiently, politely, and to my satisfaction. This is a big deal for me because in oakland you usually get one of two kinds of customer service: Snobby shop employees looking down at you or loud employees yelling/laughing/talking to each other and completely ignoring you.
