Foccacia + Starter from the course lunch meal: Butternut Squash Bisque
    Jessica Z.

Made lunch reservations here to enjoy all the Christmas decorations. It's in an outdoor covered area with plenty of heating inside so it's super cozy with all the decor. We started the meal off with the foccacia, which was perfectly toasted and came with whipped ricotta and olive oil to dip. A wonderful appetizer! I went with the lunch coursed meal: Butternut Squash bisque (so creamy and flavorful. warms you right up) and the Porcini Mushroom Risotto (cooked so well and had plenty of mushrooms to complement the rice). My husband had the steak frites, which honestly were nothing special. The steak was a bit dry since there was minimal sauce and came with crispy fries. Cute date night spot and the ambience was perfect! The staff were so attentive and checked up on us throughout the meal.

The vault always brings the decor and the ambiance. The staff is friendly and on a cold day offered us hand warmers and blankets. The mushroom risotto was delicious although a tiny lunch portion in comparison to the other options for the lunch deal. It also came out last out of all the entrees and we were comped with the donuts which were divine. Thank you for a lovely time, despite a few missteps.

It's been waaaayyy too long, dining at the convenient lunch spot in the Financial District. I picked this modern Financial District restaurant for our business lunch on a midweek a little after noon on an overcast day. I'd last dined here before the pivot to outdoor dining after 2020. They still serve dinner in the original dining room downstairs. Being early, the host led me to a table towards the rear of the restaurant. The entire restaurant is outdoors but under cover. The heat lamps are ample enough to keep the dining area warm. The menu is simple and abbreviated from the last time I came but there is an ample amount of choices. Wanting a meal with variety, my guests joined me in ordering the Express Lunch menu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=144&select=a0RKhsvrWmW63zsuIhKgNg), getting two courses. Lunch special 1st course - Caesars salad (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=NetxbmBkZkUcbv_nDUNotw) - Romaine lettuce, foccacia croutons, parmesan; the greens were crisp and crunchy pairing well with the dressing and croutons. Main - Fish and chips (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=PZZw7awbKOMQfIVktSAaPg) - Beer battered rock cod, French fries, Remoulade; one large piece of fish that came with vinegar and tartar sauce, served temperature hot. It was okay as the fish was slightly fishy. The tartar sauce and vinegar helped cut this some. The fries were perfect, also served temperature hot which made for good dipping in the provided ketchup container. Sides, all shared: A. Focaccia bread (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=nUb2WKjMMPvQZOW--iiJ5A) - Whipped ricotta, olive oil; I enjoyed the end piece, mostly dipping in the olive oil. B. Sweet potato dumplings (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=PkST_-TVY61TV4CeZa7ppw), shared - Hackleback caviar, creme fraiche, chive-potato crumble; this was delicious and especially so since one of the managers generously comped this to us. Get this to share. Dessert. shared: Sugar-dusted Beignets (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=fpi7PBy5hikmoRXvwCU8rA), shared - Creme Anglaise, pistachio butter. Delicious goodness and the best way to close a meal with a sweet ending. Served warm, everyone left with a smile. The restaurant was about 1/3rd full when we arrived but filled up a bit as we ate. Service was exemplary from the host, floor manager, and Adrianna, who waited on our table, as well as the bus person. Another big thanks goes to Jian who unexpectedly recognized me in making this meal a special one. Who said that power lunch places are gone in the Financial District?! Look no further. Needless to say, will return.

Butternut squash soup - light and creamy - perfect appetizer and not too filling!

I've had two client lunches here and both experiences were lovely. The first time it was raining so they moved us inside to the steakhouse which was very elegant. The second time was outside under their covered patio -- they offered us blankets if we got cold but I'd recommend people dress warmly regardless! Service was incredible attentive. We've also hosted a larger group gathering here of 18 people for happy hour. Food was great. I've gotten the Cobb salad, butternut squash soup, and mushroom risotto and they are all great. Would recommend for a client lunch or dinner!

Had seen the burger advertised too many times across instagram I had to come and try for myself. Such a cute dining area- nearly feels like New York or something eating half- outside (with heaters so don't worry it is cosy) Little bit more upscale of a dinner so a good excuse to dress up a little. Got the burger (obviously) And it was great- nicely made, pretty rich and saucy, with the burger cooked medium just the way i like it with a little pink in the middle. I am not usually a fries girl but there was something about their fries I couldn't stop eating them, yum yum yum. Really filling also, was so full after the burger and (most) of the fries. The drinks here are great also- expertly crafted and delicious. Felt like we were the girls in sex and the city or something for a night on the town. Just good vibes, decor, friendly staff and good food and drinks.

Stopped in to check out the holiday drinks and have some bites. The decor is festive and it was nice and warm in the covered garden area. We got a couple cocktails and appetizers. The apps were simple and delish. The drinks were pretty well balanced and loved the festive theme with the names of cocktails and glasses. It wasn't busy when we arrived and got seated right away. Heat lamps above the tables kept us extra warm.

I have been wanting to try The Vault Garden after my coworker recommended it. It happens to be SF Restaurant Week (RW), so I thought this would be the perfect time to try their lunch menu. The Vault Garden is located outside on the street level of the BofA building in the FiDi. I believe there's a separate entrance for the Steakhouse, so if you're there, go up California and up the steps to the plaza. Go towards the entrance of the building and hang a left to get to the Garden. It's a nice semi outdoor space that has plenty of heating for those cold days. And it's a beautiful space! The lounge area has comfy couches and chairs where you can get drinks and light bites for happy hour. The tables are further down for dining. Lots of greenery in both areas. From their RW menu, I got the Caesar salad and fish & chips. I also added the lemon posset for dessert, which is extra. The Caesar salad was so good! The romaine lettuce was fresh, crispy, and tender. The dressing was bright and the croutons gave it an extra crunch. And it came with plenty of shaved Parmesan. I could have had 2 plates of that. It's simple yet so good! The fish and chips were delicious, too! I thought the portion was perfect. It comes with one large beer battered rock fish on a bed of crispy fries and fried herbs. You also get a trio of sauces: malt vinegar, remoulade, and ketchup. The fish was plump and flaky. The batter was crunch and thin. And the fries were very crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. And I don't know how else to describe it, but the fries were meaty. They had a good bite to them. I think that happens when the potatoes are blanched in cold water.. I forget the science behind it but they were yummy and I loved all the textures. And the lemon posset was silky and tart. A great way to end the meal. Service was really friendly. The gentleman who took my order and I chatted about our dogs. Which, btw, dogs are allowed. Mine was in a stroller, but I assume any well-behaved dog is allowed in since it is an outdoor space. The RW menu is the same as their express lunch menu, so service time is approximately 45mins. Though, the food is so good that I would take my time. I would love to come back to try more dishes from their regular menu and to get a drink as well.

My colleague and I stopped in for a quick bite at The Vault. I love the Vault during the holidays. It is always so beautiful. We ordered the Krumpus is Coming and baaaaaaaby it was strong and delicious! Chris our server was amazing. We order some fries and mac n cheese and it was delightful. I definitely plan to circle back with more friends.

Made a reservation around a week ahead for 5 pm on a weekday and we were able to get seated a little early. My friend and I were looking for cozy bar restaurants with nice decor so we decided to check them out. The seating is under this clear tent area but pretty cozy and warm from the heat lamps. Mushroom Gratin - I love mushrooms and have never tried when a gratin is made with something besides potato but I enjoyed the crunch of the breadcrumbs to the chewy and different textures of the mushroom. It had some hints of garlic flavor but it was overall a little bland. The Vault Burger - The burger was pretty standard with the double patty, cheddar, lettuce and brioche buns and the fries were nice thick cut ones. It didn't stand out for 21 dollars so personally we found it slightly underwhelming. Overall, the service was decent but a little slow when the restaurant got busy and the dishes we had felt overpriced. The ambiance and decor is pretty fun to check out especially during the holidays though.

Came here in December of 2024 for our holiday work dinner and what a beautiful spot! There were heaters outside, staff was friendly and our food was tasty! My boyfriend and I each got the prime rib which was huge! We definitely had leftovers which I used to make fried rice haha A coworker of mine got the grilled salmon. Would definitely come back here!

Cute little "patio" spot. Lot of heaters if you get cold and it's blocked off so it's not windy. Decent drinks and small menu so simple eats! - sides are kind of hefty so we did order just sides for 2 of us haha Easy to get reservations and friendly service. Thank you!

12/7 It's the time of year for anything and everything festive. The holidays are not just about gift giving, but it is also the time of year to spend it with your loved ones. Where: The Vault and The Vault Garden can be found at the Bank of America building on Kearny and Pine streets. While not exactly inside the building itself, The Vault Garden is located on the exterior of the building while the main restaurant, The Vault is located inside the concourse level. When: The Vault Garden is a casual spot for happy hour and shareable bites. Usually not open during the weekend, this holiday season, dubbed as Winter Wonderland, lunch and holiday themed cocktails can be enjoyed here. Reservations are recommended. We came here looking for some festive holiday vibes. What: while not overly dressed or indulged with Christmas cheer, The Vault Garden's Winter Wonderland manages to pull off some holiday cheer with eye catching drinks. What we shared: Creamed corn: this was not just any creamed corn, but that the toppings were pop corn and bread crumbs for a nice crunch. This was surprisingly good. Truffle Mac & Cheese: pasta shells tossed in cheesy truffle sauce - I could have easily ordered a second of this and called it a meal. Delicious. Truffle Fries: pillowy interior and crisp exterior coated in a truffle oil. The perfect amount of salt for this fried bite. Parker House rolls: hot and fresh springy buns paired with a salty whipped butter. These were a table favorite with a second heaping ordered. Beef Bolognese: pasta cooked andante served with burrata cheese. This was good overall, but that I liked the truffle mac and cheese more. Short Ribs: slow braised and served with sweet potatoes. Ginger and soy were the prominent flavors, leaning more with an Asian twist. Super tender and yummy. Beignets: these French doughnuts were not only light but also the perfect small sweet treat. What we drank: we tried majority of the Christmas aesthetic based drinks which included all the spices and props. Each drink is titled after the verses of a Christmas song. We were so glad to have enjoyed some festive drinks. How: our server was such a sweet heart and made our lunch even more festive by providing some gingerbread men and women props. We all enjoyed our meal here and will happily return.

Ask the Community - The Vault Garden

The first review that comes up when I search "dog friendly" clearly states that you cancelled her reservation because you only allow service animals, yet other reviews say you allow dogs. Please clarify, do you allow non-service dogs to dine here?

Hello. Thank you for your question. As much as we love our four-legged family members, only designated service animals are permitted to dine with us at The Vault Garden.

Do they have happy hour--if so what times? Is it in the steakhouse as well as the garden?

We currently offer Happy Hour at The Vault Steakhouse Tue-Sat from 4-6pm.

Do you accommodate for food allergies? And do you allow dogs?

Your server can work with you to provide recommendations and modifications to certain menu items to accommodate food allergies. Yes, we allow dogs at The Vault Garden.

Is brunch offered? What days do they usually have brunch?

While we don't offer brunch, The Vault Garden is open on Saturdays at 11:30am serving our lunch menu. We occasionally run an egg special during Saturday lunch service. Thank you.

Is there a dress code for dinner?

Do you require proof of vaccination for COVID 19?

No, they did not ask to see proof of vaccination. Technically it's outdoors so I don't think they need to.

Is it a baby friendly for restaurant week? Thanks!

When I called and asked, the woman on the phone said children are allowed. She also said they would not charge the $65/person for the children and offered that they could instead give them some sort of pasta dish and just charge for that.

    Does Vault have corkage?

HI Eve, We do have corkage. It is $35 a bottle.… Read more

Are dogs allowed outside on the patio?

When we were there for brunch this past Sunday 10/18, I noticed the hostess seat a couple that had a dog with them.

How are the tables arranged in the outdoor seating during COVID? Is there also covering for outdoor seating? (it's common for SF to be foggy and windy).

There are coverings and awnings, very well spaced, plus heaters. There is wind but, hey it's San Francisco. We've eaten there a few times and always thinking of when to go back. The staff gets it, so if you have an issue, just ask or call in advance.

Is this a vegetarian friendly restaurant?

    They do have vegetarian options
