we came to the venation and my boyfriend's birthday for the first time ever. I have incredible things to say about this place. Amaya Was our waitress and she did an absolutely incredible job. She was so attentive and always had a good attitude. We got the fried calamari, Caesar salad, and there's pasta special, which was a pesto pasta with grilled chicken and mozzarella. I genuinely have no notes. The portions are so generous, I had an entire meal to take home for the next day. Wow! I've heard about the beautiful Christmas decorations at The Venetian for years - and I finally was able to visit for a lunch with friends in December. (They're normally not open for lunch but they're so popular in December that they add lunch service that month.) Reservations are required. The decorations definitely were worth seeing. It's epic with ornaments even on the ceiling. Lunch is a family style shared appetizer, individual entree, and shared dessert. Menu photo attached. I would visit again for sure! It's been...years...since I've been to the Venetian. When my friend suggested it, I was skeptical, but she noted new ownership (from when we grew up in the area), and a fun, Christmas themed atmosphere. I am so glad that we went. We had a reservation, checked in, and were seated shortly after we arrived. The decorations, as you can tell from photos, are splendidly over the top, complete with holiday tunes playing the entire time. Our server was great, and made recommendations on the menu (from drinks, to food, often adding additional color/context). For a cocktail, I had the hot and dirty, a martini with pepperoncini infused tito's vodka, olive brine, and best of all blue cheese stuffed olives. It was just the right amount of spicy, fun play on a dirty martini, with plenty of olive juice. For dinner, I went with the shrimp scampi, which was generously portioned, with spinach, tomato, garlic, lemon, and a white wine sauce over spaghetti. It was really good. For dessert, we opted for the creme brûlée - it was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal - with a nice crunchy shell/top layer, with a creamy custard underneath. Went here with a group for the holiday décor. Wow. They really do an amazing job of decorating, they do not miss one thing. The chicken marsala was yummy. We also ordered the garlic knots and those were amazing! We did not realize our dinner was served with bread. That was not my favorite as it was on the softer rolls, didn't seem with like Italian bread. The server was attentive and we were able to eat and have dessert in a decent amount of time. I finally got to go to the Venetian Holiday Pop-up this year! This restaurant has great ambience to begin with - but add in the intense ceiling decor and you've got this old time holiday vibe befitting of a fancy italian meal. I got the Pumpkin Agnollotti - I had no idea what an agnollotti was before - but it's stuffed pasta. It was in like - a brown butter sage sauce with cranberry. It smelled beautiful and tasted really good as well. I also got an old fashioned because it was their signature drink and it definitely felt like the place to drink one. Our waitress was on top of our refillable water and was pretty attentive given the place was booked solid. The Venetian is a delicious - but expensive. And they are so prepared to take your money if you want to give it to them. They have fun holiday pop-up merch and special hot chocolates in commemorative mugs. It's easy to get swept up in. I am happy to have gotten to experience this. I can see how it would be a treasured holiday experience - there were a lot of happy people there. If you are going for the pop-up, I'd suggest scouting out other parking before hand - we got the last spot in their parking lot - and would have had to circle or find other parking otherwise. The only thing I did not like is the fact that the commodes in the toilet were made of black ceramic. I am sure they were clean, but I really, really didn't like that. The holiday pop-up and the service were excellent. The vibe was festive, and there was a happy energy that filled the room. Our server, Tracy took very good care of us. Since we were there with our 18 month old granddaughter, efficiency was important. We skipped drinks, appetizers, salads and desserts. The star of the show was the food. The Sunday Gravy transported me back to my Italian grandmother's kitchen in the 1980's. There was a lot of food on the plate. I should have leftovers to enjoy, but I don't. I ate everything. This is a local Italian restaurant that a few years ago started an annual "Christmas pop up" where the entire restaurant is completely decked out in incredible holiday decorations. You have to plan ahead since the restaurant is quickly sold out for the several weeks they have the decor up. In November (late for this event!) we were able to snag a late lunch reservation. We had a great time. While too many Christmas decorations might fall into the tacky range, not so here. They were incredibly pretty and nicely done, albeit over the top in a fun way. Walking in put us immediately in happy and festive moods. During this holiday event, you must utilize the prix fixe menu during the lunchtime seatings. It is $50.00/pp not including tax and tip. You get a choice of a Caesar or Greek salad (one salad served family style for the table) and a choice of one of several entrees. Then you are served a plate of desserts, again to be shared by the table. Drinks are extra. We chose a Caesar salad which was delicious and not overly dressed which I appreciated. For my main dish I chose the eggplant parm which came with a side of rigatoni. Delicious! It was a nice portion half of which I took home. My husband chose the Pasta Bolognese which he enjoyed very much. The desserts were tiramisù and mini cannoli. Both were very good but my favorite was the tiramisù. I had a delicious French rosé to drink and Tom had a vodka tonic. A bottle of cold water is served at the table along with a basket of very tasty bread and a small dish of oil and vinegar if you care to dip. At dinner, the full menu is available even during the Christmas pop up. The restaurant of course was full but even though it is not a particularly large restaurant we did not feel crowded in. The chairs were deep, and soft-cushioned and very comfortable. Our waiter was Christian. He was nice, efficient and attentive. Christmas music played softly in the background. It was a fun and quite festive thing to during this holiday season. We decided we will make reservations (much earlier) next year and do this all over again. The Restaurant: Came here on a Saturday night and it was super packed. We had a reservation so we got seated immediately. The restaurant was well decorated and felt very cozy. We sat in a booth and I felt like the seats were kind of hard and uncomfortable. It definitely feels like a family restaurant, even though I'm sure it'd be fine for a date. The bathroom was clean but oddly dark and cold. The Food: The complimentary bread was soft and room temperature. The butter with it was cold. The oil dip was just okay. For appetizers we got the fried mozzarrella and calamari. I don't eat calamari but the mozzarella was just two big slabs of mozzarella that were fried, not mozzarella sticks. You have to cut it like a steak. I wouldn't order it again. For my entree I got the seared atlantic salmon with the sides of arugala salad and butternut squash. The salmon was hot and tasted fine but wasn't anything special. The butternut squash was delicious. Highly recommended. The arugala salad was fine. For a drink I got a lavender lemon mocktail. It wasn't really worth the $10 tbh. For dessert I ordered the creme brulee. It was good. I'm not sure if I'd spend the $12 on it again though. read more

It was my 75 birthday and I chose the Venetian from reading all their great reviews. The food and cocktails were really good. We both took food home as the portions were large. Our server Mike did the best he could. My only complaint would be that they really need bussers.. we waited longer than normal for our cocktails and our food. I have to say that it was very busy. As soon as a table would empty they we're filling it up again. Happy for the new owners and kudos to them for making the old Venetian a beautiful new restaurant to dine at. read more

I got dinner here the other night with my husband for the Christmas pop up. I went last year too, and feel like the decorations were a little more elaborate last year. Still beautifully decorated though. We started with a spicy tequila drink and a Sinatra whisky drink. The tequila drink was great, Sinatra drink was incredibly sweet. We were also told they were out of old fashioned cocktails... which seemed almost impossible. For appetizers we spilt the Aranchini and garlic knots. Both were good, but honestly nothing special or food I can't wait to try again. For dinner I had the chicken parm, which again was good and not great. My husband's pasta was delicious and one I would go back to eat again. We had two dessert martinis (espresso and tiramisu) and both were good but extremely strong. I'm aware martinis are just alcohol, but these were hard to drink because of the burn after each sip. Tiramisu dessert was tasty. What a beautiful restaurant to attend during the holidays! They're so festive and creative. I'm sure it must've took them awhile to decorate the whole ceiling. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and was seated around that time. We were guided to our table which was all the way in the back with NO DECORATIONS. We specifically came to enjoyed their festive decorations during dinner . Three other parties were offered the same table but nicely declined... Not quite sure why they didn't decorate that portion of the dining area and expected guests to be ok being seated there. 5-10 minutes later a table cleared up and we were seated. We orders the fried calamari, bolognese, and seafood fra diavolo. The calamari was not crispy at all... it looked and tasted like it was rushed out and not cooked properly. I know they were busy, though. When our main entrees came out, I was immediately happy until I tried my dish... My spaghetti noodles were OVER COOKED. Not to exaggerate but it was horrible... it came out mushy and slimy. I never send food back but that night I should've... The portion was good and luckily the red sauce was good. My wife's bolognese was very good. I highly recommend getting that. Overall, it was an ok experience... I would definitely recommend coming here to grab drinks and enjoy the festivities but for food, stay clear from the seafood fra diavolo dish. I'd read an article about Boston area restaurants that offered outrageous (in a good way) Christmas decorations as part of the overall dining experience. Well, The Venetian is a top notch destination for classic Italian favorites surrounded by sparkle and festivity. You can't help but smile upon entering the bar and walking past the polar bears to the host station. Our table was in the room toward the back and the Christmas tree tableaus (front and rear) were charming and old world. I loved my velvet chair! Our young server was friendly and made great recommendations. There are classic cocktails all sorts and extensive wine lists. I opted for Sinatra's Love Song, a tasty variation on a Manhattan. We shared a delicious blue cheese salad, which was really a deconstructed Wedge with whole strips of candied bacon. It could feed 3-4. Main dishes were the eggplant parmigiana (solidly delicious) and the pasta special: rigatoni with butternut squash & sweet sausage in sage cream sauce. The flavors were a delight. The sauce was rather thin, but thickened upon cooling. The spumoni was epic. I counted 6 Amarena cherries! Best ever!! The cappuccino was elegantly stenciled and accompanied by a biscotto. Our server was sweet but there were a few details overlooked or not anticipated that other servers were providing in full view (which is why 4 stars). The large salad was served without serving utensils (had to ask), no grated cheese nor ground pepper was offered (had to ask), and we were the only table whose takeaway boxes were not in a branded paper shopping bag to carry away. Not trying to be a sniveling ageist, but perhaps it was that our younger server may not have realized or even considered the details that many older diners come to expect at higher priced establishments. We hadn't been here in about 4 years, so we were looking forward to an enjoyable evening, along with seeing the holiday decor. Our reservation was for 4 PM. We made this reservation several weeks ago knowing that they fill up quickly this time of year. I was surprised to be seated at 4:22 PM, having made the reservation so far in advance. Once seated, our server took our drink order and as a precurser to the rest of the evening, the drinks came back at all different times. I understand the necessity to make a profit, however, $17 for a 9 oz glass of house wine and $4 each for a glass of milk, an iced tea and a sprite was outrageous. The kids meals came out first. They were brought out by a runner, whom I told that the kids had a side of french fries. More on that later. Following the kids meals, mine and my wifes meals came out. My chicken, broccoli, ziti came with garlic wine sauce when I had asked for alfredo sauce. To compound the problem, our server was nowhere to be found. I had to ask another server to find our server to resolve the issue. The solution was to pour alfredo sauce in with the garlic/wine sauce. I mentioned to our server that the kids side of fries and my side of asparagus still had not arrived and that we were almost done with our meals. The server finally took responsibility and said that she had never put them in and that they would be out quickly. After our meals, we wanted to look at a dessert menu, only our server was once again nowhere to be found. I asked the runner if she could get us a dessert menu. She brought one dessert menu for 4 people. The kids had dessert and me and my wife decided to skip dessert, not knowing if it would be correct, or come out at all. Like most inept servers, great attention was paid when it came time for the bill. I'm not a fan of credit card machines at the table where you choose a tip with the server holding the machine. $210 with tip was hard to swallow based on the poor service we received. The food was good but extremely overpriced for the portion size. We had another reservation in a couple of weeks with some family from out of town, but we decided to cancel for somewhere more reasonable with better service. We went here for my birthday and had a wonderful experience. Justin, our server was absolutely gracious and lovely. I enjoyed eggplant Parmesan, we got bruschetta & crab cakes for the table, which were really really yummy and my daughter got the vodka penne which they allowed her to substitute eggplant on instead of chicken. The entire restaurant is just gorgeous with so many wonderful things to look at. The desserts are divine, I got a massive piece of chocolate cake, and they brought out a complementary crème brûlée for my birthday. Both my husband and daughter brought home wonderful tiramisu's. Mostly because I don't appreciate when a waiter/waitress tries to run up a bill One person in our party ordered the steak and said "I will have the steak with mashed potatoes" Out came the steak which INCLUDED mashed potatoes and out came a side order of mashed potatoes. When ordering the waitress should have said "your entree comes with potato" Our bad for not sending them back or requesting the charge be removed from the bill. Worst restaurant experience I've had in a decade! Came for brunch with 6 people. $50 each for an appetizer, main, and dessert. What they don't tell you in advance is that you all have to agree on the same appetizer. Not good if you have a large group that might include picky teens or people with food restrictions. We couldn't even split half and half. Asked for the manager, and she was incredibly rude and said the kitchen would reject the order if two different orders were place for our one table. But I asked what would have happened if we made two different reservations for three people. Then we could have had two different appetizers. Ok, so we got dumb fried cheese sticks. How many little cheese sticks did they bring for SIX PEOPLE? FIVE CHEESE STICKS. The waitress could not understand that that made no sense at all. Ok, I didn't want fried cheese anyway, so I waited until I got my main (pasta with vodka sauce, fine, but not worth $50 for lunch). Dessert was a big plate of cannoli, cookies, cake. Seemed like it was from Market Basket or something. Three of our party asked for coffee to have with their dessert. It as 3:15, and we were told they could have coffee, but they had to finish by 3:30! Coffee arrived at 3:22, so they had 8 minutes to drink it. Luckily the cups were small (yet still $4). A bit hard to review this one because the place is so well designed and very romantic (but I was with my dad so never mind). I had the chicken parm and my dad had the eggplant parm. The pasta is all homemade and it was very good. And I know prices are higher than ever these days. But it just didn't feel like the best value for money. It was a good sized portion though. I also got calamari which was good but not amazing. Kind of average. My dad got a glass of wine. We decided we wouldn't come back because we just weren't impressed enough but I'd recommend it for a drink and shared appetizers at least. Our server Anthony was absolutely lovely. Arrived at 4:15 pm to an almost empty restaurant and somehow received the worst service I've ever experienced. We were the waitress' only table, and our booth had a direct view of the bar, where she spent most of her time on her cell phone and flirting with the bartender. It took 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Meanwhile, every other server was attentive to their tables. She never checked on us, and we had to flag down another server just to pay. Reservations were required and times sold out entire month of December so it was very busy. We had 4 adults and a child dining. They were a bit dry/bland and needed the sauce for flavor but overall they were okay. I liked the gooey cheese in the middle. For my entree, I ordered the eggplant parm. The homemade pasta and sauce were fantastic. However, the eggplant was soggy. I was expecting it to be crispier. I'm glad it was smothered in cheese which made it edible. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu. It was good but forgettable; nothing special about it that would make me come back for more. The thing working against this restaurant is that there is stiff competition in the area. I can think of two other Italian restaurants near by that have much better food in my opinion.
