Vue is a new, immersive experience that is next to @fshotelneworleans on Canal. The exhibits go over 300+ years of New Orleans history. From the iconic music to the well-known FOODS! I took my kids and they usually fight. I didn't have to break up one fight they were so into the tour. The Vue is open daily from 9:00am-5:00pm. Make sure you check them out! Perfect for Date Nights.

What a perfect view of Canal Street! The hotel is a bit untidy on the bottom floor. But once you reach the "vue" it speaks for itself. I truly enjoyed my experience! If you are on Canal definitely stop by for one of the best sights in the city!

Walking in at 1:30 on a beautifully sunny Wed, we fully expected a wait. Instead, our two empty seats beckoned to us like a pretty girl winking at us across a bar in college. Marvin has been promoted to Beverage Manager. He left his bar in very good hands. The two young dudes carrying his torch were great. Very friendly and well aware each time we finished our drink and needed a reload. They're well-trained in the art of concocting the Sazerac we love. Sitting for 2 hours watching the regular turnover of the precious seats at the Carousel is still big fun. And having a friendly chat with the constant turnover of strangers sitting next to us is part of the unique charm of the Carousel Bar. As we were leaving Corey the bartender let us know management is shutting down next month for a few weeks for much needed repairs & renovations so the Carousel can add another 50-60 years to its legacy.

The cocktail list looked interesting, but the two we had tasted pretty standard, inline with what you'd expect from a hotel bar (it is inside Hotel Monteleone). There is a small bar bites menu - the Cubano was tasty but a bit overpriced at $18. The service was okay. We ended up getting water from our server that brought us food as the bartenders were too busy making cocktails. There was a jazz band playing on Thursday night when we visited.

The overall vibe/decor is dramatic and appealing. If you are a group of rich girls who are eating before they go out drinking or a dude trying hard to impress a date, this is the spot. The eh: It's $$$. I probably didn't look into this aspect well enough so my shock at the menu/check was probably on me. Portions are a bit confusing. Poutine was huge - like Mexican Nachos size huge. Hamburger also. But 2 deviled eggs, a tiny 9$ miniature loaf of bread were confusing in contrast. We had two mixed drinks. Gin and tonic was fine, but the 17$ espresso martini was hilariously undrinkably unpleasant. Less like espresso, more like donut shop coffee. Now, I love some indirect lighting. It creates interesting and compelling spaces with mood and a bit of mystery- But y'all - this is just the darkest restaurant (or lounge or whatever) I have ever eaten in. There is so little light that you literally cannot read the menu without using the flashlight on your phone. It is spelunking levels of darkness in there. I had to ask the server for more of the tiny tabletop candles just so we could see each other. The music is also very loud. Which would make sense if there was a dance floor or some reason for it. It is a place where what you do is drink and eat (in the dark) and talk to each other. The design of the restaurant itself seems at odds with the two things it aims to provide.

The ambiance is perfect..overlooking the French Quarter, its design and decor epitomizes the sophistication of Westin Hotels. The crowd was a mix of vacationists and corporate people who are there for meetings and conventions, and the staff were all polite and personable. We ordered drinks for the most part, and the price point was not really bad for a hotel bar- about $16 for regular drinks like vodka soda, and about $26 for doubles.

The space is absolutely stunning--flooded with natural light from massive windows that offer breathtaking views of the French Quarter and the mighty Mississippi River. The vibe is relaxed and inviting, with smooth Neo soul music playing in the background that made it easy to settle in and get some work done. I kept it simple with soda water while plugging away on my laptop, but my wife enjoyed a fresh salad along with a burger and fries, which she said hit the spot. The real standout was the service; our hostess Barbara greeted us with such a warm smile and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. We're already planning to come back in the evening when they have live piano music--hoping it amps up the energy a bit more. If you're looking for a spot with expansive views and a chill atmosphere, this place is worth checking out! More to come after our next visit.
