It was a perfect night. I can't remember the last time I left a restaurant being so happy and satisfied. The three of us attended a "Martin Cooks" event, a prix fixe menu dinner. The atmosphere, hospitality, delightful food and drinks, fantastic chef, and the entire staff who looked after us--everything was absolutely exceptional. Even the playlist was loaded with my favorite tunes. This time, the menu was inspired by Asian cuisine. I always admired 'Martin Cooks'. That evening he could have had any attitude, yet he proved again to be a truly wonderful host. He was friendly and laid-back, making it feel just like attending a dinner party at a friend's home. One more thing. You could imagine that the interior might feel too industrial or cold, but the restaurant is cozy and beautiful, despite its modern design and choice of materials. This was my first time coming to roost and it definitely won't be my last time visiting. Located close to the water this restaurant provides the view overlooking Canada while providing excellent food. I was blown away by the elevated dishes the kitchen provided. 13 of us made a reservation ahead, for a lovely Saturday brunch. The back room was decorated with a tasteful chandelier and all things rooster. Food we shared fig and Prosciutto pizza, nice bleu cheese kick! Delish! However 4 of us split 2 of the french toast bake, this was a let down. Burnt taste. Just try it for yourself. 4. DRINKS- Red Sangria, Pineapple and Strawberry Mimosas, Fresh Start. All delicious TO NOTE: Both the dinner and brunch menus change. I recommend checking the website and socials for the frequency and to get an idea of what's being served before you go. For example, the brunch menu this week was much more palatable than the dinner menu. So, we opted for brunch. I suggest making reservations because it was consistently packed. Suggestion: I understand the menus change, but it would be nice if there was a small description of the entrees on the menu....for allergy purposes, or just preference. We absolutely loved Roost! First of all, we were greeted with the warmest welcome, by the staff and the atmosphere. It was trendy, yet inviting and we loved the open kitchen concept. We went for the menu of Mexican/middle eastern. It sounded SO odd, but WOW it really worked!! Our two favorites dishes were the steak with pineapple fried rice (it had middle eastern spices) and the octopus with sweet potato (that was just cooked to perfection). Again, you think that the flavors won't work, but they really do and are so unique!! The staff was also great about intolerances and knew exactly what was OK to eat. Food was also well plated and delicious but definitely a little on the pricier side. The staff were so friendly and great but service was extremely slow- something I've heard from my friends who frequent there to seems like an ongoing issue. Went there for a team lunch earlier today and everything was prefect. The house salad? Delicious. We had to order more. The burger? Probably the best I've ever had. It was the most lux, melt in your mouth, perfectly seasoned burger I've ever tasted. The sangria? Delicious -- and if you don't drink often it's enough to get you dancing in your seat. I recently went to brunch here with a group of friends. We were seated right away, as we had a reservation and had a view of the entire restaurant, which was nice. I like to see what is going on. Roost is decorated wonderfully, their food is inventive and fantastic and the drinks are great. The service is also perfect. The one complaint I do have is that there are no descriptions on the menu of what dishes they are serving for brunch. This leads to many questions to the wait staff. It would be beneficial for all to have the description on the menu, no matter how uncool Roost thinks that practice is. I'm sure the wait staff doesn't want to describe every single dish 100s of times a day. It can get exhausting. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and drink choices. I went with a Bloody Mary and it was great. My one friend ordered the gluten free pizza on cauliflower crust and enjoyed it. I had the salmon dish and it was DIVINE. The salmon was done perfectly and I want to eat that every day. This is salmon I have dreams about and want to get back to Roost to brunch ASAP. My boyfriend had a lemon and ricotta pizza and enjoyed it. Most at the table had the breakfast pizza and loved it. They charge ther menu every four months. This can be fun but if you find a favorite it can be disappointing. We sampled a bunch of different items. The lemon ricotta pizza was excellent. The short rib dinner was very good. The pork belly sandwich was a table favorite. Lots of good flavors blended nicely. Fun casual atmosphere. Our waitress was excellent. Loved her job! This sausage pasta concoction had just the right amount of heat with peppers and other spices and the tender clumps of sausage. Me and my husband had a date night last weekend and decided to eat at roost because I've been wanting to try it since it opened. Immediately when we walked in we thought it was so inviting and warm. The decor is beautiful and really makes you feel like you're in a Lisa Vanderpump type restaurant. The menu was quite small but we were able to find a couple things that sounded good. The apps were all pretty pricey which was disappointing but we opted for the bone marrow app not knowing exactly what we were getting ourselves in for. It arrived and it was quite literally bone marrow which I did not realize but it was really tasty. The pizzas were absolutely delicious! What a lucky surprise finding this place! Went here for brunch on a Sunday on UB graduation weekend. We didn't have reservations but fortunately they had a spot open for the 3 of us. Came here last night with some girlfriends and I can't rave enough about the food. The new menu is "Mexican" focused with a solid margarita menu to pair with. I can always find a good meal at Roost. Sometimes I get nervous because their menu can change (seems like it changes seasonally?) but I can always find a good dish. It's a small menu with several pizza options. I've been for brunch a few times. Unique, modern space. Nice large bar and plenty of tables. Staff is friendly and attentive. My son is the consummate foodie. He studies several sources before making a reservation so when he chose Roost, I knew we were in for a treat. We had a Sunday 2pm reservation. The location and the ambiance are good. It's a cool space except for the plastic flowers but that's my personal preference speaking. It's clearly a trendy spot as it was busy and obviously had been that way all day. In retrospect, I wouldn't go again on a weekend afternoon as they were out of so many menu items. It set a disappointing tone for the meal. Our server was great. She had an effervescent personality and was able to help us navigate what had become a limited menu. But, they were very understaffed. We waited a very long time to get our meals. In fact, I felt sorry for her as she was obviously embarrassed about the wait. The food was good but as I'm writing this a week later and can't remember what we ate, it wasn't enough to yank me back. I might give it another shot but with so many new and interesting places popping up in Buffalo, it may take a while before I do so. read more

She had a whole side of the restaurant by herself, so we waited a long time for our meals and ordered dessert but didn't actually receive it. It wasn't her fault. I will definitely be back to try and again but was hoping for a little bit more when I visited. Had a DELISH Pinot noir and was really impressed with the general aesthetic and vibe of the restaurant. Rustic without being completely farmhouse. We ordered the ricotta dumplings with pesto sauce - we were expecting Asian like dumplings but rather had a more gnocchi- like dumpling. It was good but could have used some salt or zest to brighten it a bit. We ordered the prosciutto and fig pizza - waiter said it's a permanent on the menu so we were helpful! While the pizza itself was fine there was an overwhelming amount of truffle oil that just kind of overpowered the other flavors other than blue cheese. Which is a bit of a bummer. Will definitely try again before I make any final opinions but I was hoping for something a little bit more balanced and flavorful. read more

Disclaimer: I typically try to remain positive in my reviews, and haven't posted in a while, but I felt inclined to post this review because I really don't think what they're doing is right. I'm really not sure how to rate this place. I've been wanting to get here for years. I finally did tonight and the place has a really nice atmosphere, delicious cocktails, and some of their dishes were terrific. However, I ordered the octopus and mussel tapas and they came out in cans! Never was this fact disclosed on the menu, nor was it explained to us by the server. I never ever ever ever ever expected food to be served to me out of a can. I was wrongfully excited that I was going to be served some well prepared seafood. As one can imagine, I was extremely disappointed by what was provided. Then to make it even worse, we were told that canned meat is "all the rage"... well, that's great... then just put on the menu people are ordering canned food. If I'd known, I would have never ordered it... really disappointing. read more
