My husband and I stopped in here three times now, the story seems to be the same. The younger gal who took our order was sweet but I felt bad for her because the older woman (who we later found out was the owner), was yelling at her and being negative about how she handles us customers. We thought it was just a one time fluke so we went back but Ut never fails, the owner tends to make the employees feel uncomfortable and walk around egg shells, sort of speak. The washburne is an amazing cafe. I highly recommend the lavender creamosa, the yum bar, and the turkey bacon ranch wrap. The cafe is clean and cute with so much distinguished character you feel relaxed and invited no matter where you look. They have a wide variety of food items and drinks on their menu that've all completely satisfied my tastebuds to the max. They cater and host groups as well. It's so wonderful to have this place downtown Springfield and with free WiFi. Excellent food and service. We had turkey wraps and they were very big and filling. We like that it came with chips and not fries. Excellent coffees. Tea was a bit weak and bland, but I prefer a full body tea and refills like coffee. Note: this review is strictly regarding service and coffee. In town on business two days ago and was looking for a good breakfast. Washburne came up on my phone as a local place so we stopped in for a bite. Had to get coffee in us first so we ordered that while perusing the chalkboard menu. Two lovely women behind the counter greeted us and gave us a bevy of coffee options. Seeing that breakfast options for eggs were only omelettes we both agreed that we were looking for fried eggs so opted out (even though many sounded great). We asked if there was anywhere in town to get a more traditional breakfast expecting the hohum "nowhere's better than here" answer but that's where these ladies really shined!! Each cheerfully offered their local favorites and directions to them. Awesome service with a smile. Great coffee for me and Americano for my buddy. Wonderful cafe with great espresso and coffee. I tried their brewed coffee today along with an oatmeal cookie and enjoyed them in the lovely relaxed environment that the cafe provides, the coffee was amazing. I drink my coffee black and found their dark roast to be unbelievably scrumptious (along with the cookie of course). Great addition to Springfield and will be a returning customer. read more

Cool vibes, as a coffee shop I loved it. Our drinks were ok, the chai was very strong, too strong for my taste. However food was a different story. We waited almost 50 minutes for our food it was not busy at all and our order was not complex, a waffle and 3 avocado toasts. 50 minutes is unacceptable at any restaurant let alone a coffee shop. When it takes that long you should be offered a complimentary drink or something for having your time wasted. Don't think I'll ever be back considering Eugene has much more coffee shops that don't take an hour and have better food. read more

Had to select something to get my review in. Went there for a quick lunch. We've been by this place lots of time and decided to go in. We passed up Planktown to eat here. What a mistake that was. We waited forever for a simple grilled cheese sandwich accompanied by their "homemade" potato leek soup. The soup was gray collored swill. No potatoes in it, no leeks. Horrible concotion. Terrible service. There are too many really good places for lunch, right on Main Street itself. Very sorry we wasted our money here. read more

I ordered a decaf soy Washburne Mocha, and a slice of Blueberry Coffee Cake. I didn't know what a Washburne Mocha was so I asked the waitress. She was very helpful. The Mocha was very delicious but the coffee cake was a little dry. They use a local coffee roaster, Cascade Estates Roasting company. This would be a great place to hangout. Great little place! I was in town on business and happened upon the Washburne Cafe on my way out of town Sunday morning. Great breakfast and the price was right. I had a meat scramble and added kalamata olives. Great coffee too. The service was excellent! A friendly, beautiful, smiling young woman named Kelly took my order. We went to the Washburn Cafe because we had a coupon from Restaurant.com for $15 off. The space is lovely, large, airy, with big windows so it's bright inside. There's a little gift shop inside with cute trinkets, magnets, and decor. The food was fresh and tasty. My companion had the "build your own" scramble with four ingredients and I had the "Farmer" scramble. Both were $8.50 each. The eggs and veggies tasted fresh. The red potatoes it came with were tasty and cooked just right. We don't eat wheat, so we passed on the Ciabbatta toast, but they were ind enough to replace our toast with juicy pear slices. We also ordered the yogurt with fresh fruit, it was also very tasty. The homemade granola in the fruit was really good! I had a regular coffee which was dark and strong and really good! My companion very much enjoyed his Mexican Mocha that had a big pile of whipped cream on top and came drizzled with cocoa syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon. They have a full menu of tasty-looking espresso drinks. Our breakfast total came out to around $30 including the tip, so it was a great deal with the coupon. The staff were friendly and helpful. I recommend this place for anyone that is looking for a tasty, romantic place to have breakfast. read more

This is my favorite business in Downtown Springfield - it really feels like it's improving the whole neighborhood all on it's own.

The food is edible, nothing special. I thought this place was a gem but soon realized the owner is very unhappy or just chooses not to smile or say hello. Portions are quite small and usually look simple enough to come from your own kitchen. Food is over priced as it is without being charged for a little soy in my Americano which I ended up not drinking because it tasted like 20 oz of water with 1 shot of coffee when I paid for 3. Too cool Washburne. Hope it was worth charging for us to never come back. read more

Very disappointed with my lunch today. I've had breakfast and coffee drinks here and they've been fine (ok but not great) but the chicken Caesar salad was terrible. You'd think that would be pretty hard to mess up, but they did in about every way possible. Wilted lettuce, drowned in dressing out of a bottle, smothered in too much shredded Parmesan and topped with tiny pieces of over-boiled chicken and tiny out of a box croutons. Yuck. When I brought it back to the counter and asked for a discount I was ignored. I wasted $10 for nothing. That's no way to run a business. I guess they are more interested in short term gain than earning repeat customers. I won't go back... Even for coffee. read more

Not what I was expecting. There are only 2 "cozy" chairs. I expected that the food would have been higher quality for having so many family dining tables. For a cafe they have poor excuse for a pastry case. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and a side of bacon. The bacon reminded me of the precooked Oscar Meyer bacon you microwave. The biscuits were good, but the gravy was suspiciously similar to the kind at Dairy Mart, but here you will pay $7.50 for it... I ordered the quiche, which was delicious, with red potatoes (a few burnt pieces),but I wouldn't order it again for over $8! The ambiance is enjoyable minus the corner of home goods for sale. Imagine a mini Real Deals plopped in the middle of a coffee house. If I could come back here to simply enjoy a cup of coffee , surf the web on the wifi and enjoy a good pastrie I would, but it's not a place that is conducive for that. It's not good for breakfast food and its not good as a coffee house. I'd rather drive from Springfield to campus, pay for parking, deal with students walking in the street and visit Espresso Roma. The tables and chairs aren't as nice, I do have to heat up my own pastries in the microwave but at least all the food (croissants sandwiches, muffins, scones etc), is made in house and everything is delicious. I gave 2 stars because the Cafeto brewed coffee and quiche was good. read more

My husband and I were driving along Main Street in Springfield when we decided that we should try someplace new to eat. We decided on The Washburn Cafe. It was a great choice! The atmosphere is quaint and it is set up so that there is plenty of space. You don't have people sitting right on top of each other. We both really enjoyed our lunch, (I had a turkey bacon ranch wrap and my husband had a turkey and cheese panini) and can't wait to go back for breakfast and try that too! I have already recommended it to my friends and co-workers. The food, prices, and service were excellent! And after reading another review that mentioned that they knew what a London Fog was - I am even more impressed!! I stopped ordering those a long time ago! This place is a definite must try!! I agree with Betsy F - it used to take a LOT to get me to Downtown Springfield. But now that I've had lunch at the Washburne Cafe, all that has changed. Really tasty food at a reasonable price, friendly staff, a very comfortable atmosphere, free wi-fi - what more could you ask for?. The staff and owners are among the most kind, caring, and honest people you will ever encounter. The coffee...well, I challenge you to find a better Cappuccino in Lane County. Then there is the food. Frankly, it is ridiculously impressive that a cafe/coffee shop such as this can consistently turn out such technically sound, creative, and delicious food.
