we came to the Wildflower for the first time for our anniversary. When making the reservation the restaurant asks if it's a special occasion. Our anniversary was never acknowledged at all. Why ask then? I expected a farm to table restaurant named Wildflower to have a decor charm to go with the name. There was no decor at all, nothing on the walls, no tablecloths, no flower bud vase, no candle, no anything. The appetizer the mushroom fundito was ok but had an extreme amount of garlic. We like garlic but it was way too much. It was accompanied with a focaccia type bread. It was very dense and dry. It was either stale or just not good, I don't know which. The mushroom soup was excellent. Our main course: My husband ordered the special, shrimp diablo. The waitress warned us that if we don't do spice not to order this dish. so my husband ordered it and enjoyed it. I did not due to the spice warning. I ordered the New Orleans scallops. For 20 years we have ordered a spice rub from New Orleans that we use on our steaks and ribs when we sous vies. The dish came with 3 scallops over rice surrounded with a large bed of sautéed vegetables. The scallops were highly spiced. way too hot for me. My husband said it was way hotter than his dish. There was no warning or asterisk that this was a very spicy dish.The vegetables were cooked perfectly but were absolutely tasteless. if I were ordering a Weight Watchers meal and wanted something with 0 points, I could have ordered this. It was so disappointing. When the waitress asked if I wanted a to go box (with 95% of the food still on the plate) I said no, because the scallops were too spicy, she just said, ok, and walked away. Never asked if I wanted something else. It would have been different if I ate the meal and then complained but it was obvious that I didn't eat it. We let it go and ordered dessert. We ordered two to share. a bread pudding which was very good and blueberry lemon donuts. We expected hot fried donuts. they were not. They were shaped circles of dense cake. Very tasteless. Again we tried it and didn't eat it. So we paid, left and picked up a pizza from Twin Cities Tried once-Never again. Very disappointing special anniversary dinner. read more

My husband picked out the Wildflower Cafe for my birthday per my vague request for American food. I am very glad he did. The building appears to be a converted house. I did not make it too far inside because it was a Friday night and the greeter let us know (politely) that they were booked inside, but the outside patio is first come, first serve. We sat outside, and it was actually very cozy out there, and I am not an outside eating type of person at all. The patio was well-covered and had fans to cool you off. There were plants all around and a greenhouse, and even feeders that allowed us to share our experience with hummingbirds. It's very eclectic. Our waitress was amazing. She made me feel very welcome and wished me a happy birthday and conversed with us like we were valued guests. The food was amazing. I had the recommended fish dish with cheese grits and onion rings - it sounds strange, but it was so delicious and well-balanced. My husband had a steak that was perfectly cooked to his liking. We paid for a cut up and toasted loaf of bread with delicious honey herb butter - worth the $4.00. I ordered their strawberry mimosa cocktail, it was delicious! I had such a great birthday dinner. We were there for the first time tonight, party of 8. They were amazingly accommodating and helpful. If I had more time I'd offer more details but suffice it to say that the food was excellent, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was quaint and pleasant. We just kept ordering food until the kitchen was empty. Had a GREAT time. We had main courses, lots of drinks, and desserts all around so my bill is probably not representative, but $370 for a party of 8 (and one of the guys ordered the $50 Wagyu steak but it was VERY good!) seemed reasonable. They had a nice outdoor bar area where you could eat, drink, and smoke cigars. Nice selection of wine. Small menu but high quality. Daily specials and sometimes the previous day's special is available. It's a small place so there might be a wait or you might have to come back. What a great spot for an early dinner with our daughter. We got there at 4pm at opening time was warmly greeted by our server Alan. We sat upstairs and we asked for a house selection of Chardonnay and it was outstanding. We chatted for awhile and caught up. No menu here everything is farm to table and what is fresh today. I had the blacked Jumbo prawns over grits and Andouille sausage, it was straight out of NOLA, outstanding. Wildflower is actually located in a residential home converted into a restaurant. As such, it works out OK, but is small (seats around 24 or so), somewhat cramped, with dinning both downstairs and upstairs. That's alright but since the kitchen is downstairs, there is a lot of activity on the staircase. It is also rather noisy and portions of it with nearly too much light while others have too little. It's a beer and wine only place and the menu, understandably, is rather limited. The preparations are somewhat unique, rather well prepared though somewhat gimmicky and I found mine to be way over salted. I don't think that was me, because others on Yelp and at the place while I was there also mentioned that fact. The service was excellent and the place appears clean and orderly though somewhat disorganized, however, that may be because the place appears to be extremely popular and I would certainly suggest reservations in advance. read more

Quaint little place with a great vibe. Parking is limited but don't let that deter you the food is worth a walk. I chose the lamb and beef meatloaf which is wrapped in maple cured bacon and served over seasonal vegetables and white beans. The meatloaf was expertly prepared, seared on the outside to a delicate crust and tender inside. A nice blend of flavors with some onion and red pepper flakes blended in. There were several other interesting entrees on the menu including Wayagu beef. They have an excellent wine list but being on my own I selected an interesting red blend, Purple Trillium, that I had not tried previously. Service was prompt and accommodating. I have had this on my list for a while, so long that I forgot who told me about this place in fact. I decided to stop in with my wife for a mid workweek lunch. I loved the space, but wasn't a fan of our food. I think I'd come back and try other dishes. Food: I had the organic Triple Berry Tea, which is a nice, not too sweet and not too tart iced tea. For my meal, I had the Coconut Gulf Shrimp. It came served on pineapple curried rice, topped with minted cucumber. The shrimp itself had a very, very subtle coconut crust. If you tell me it was coconut, I guess I'll believe you, but if you tell me it wasn't coconut, I could believe it too. I would have loved more of a coconut flavor. It was a pretty presentation, but a small portion. My wife had a steak & blue cheese melt (not sure what it was called). The steak was great, as where the caramelized onions and blue cheese, but it was on a pretty tough baguette bread. It honestly was too tough to chew for a sandwich, making every bite a test of how well your teeth and in place. This would have been perfect with other bread. Service: We walked from the parking lot to the rear door, and were immediately greeted. We were seated outside as per our request. Our server came by shortly to get our drink orders. Food orders were placed when our drinks came out and honestly, I was surprised as to how quickly our food came out. Maybe 10 minutes if that. Facilities: Wildflower is an old yellow home now converted to a cafe. It can be hard to spot if you're not sure what to look for. There's an unmarked driveway along the side that leads to a large parking area around the back. There's 5-6 outdoor tables, with shade, fans and even heat for cool nights. We didn't sit inside as it was a beautiful summer day when we went, so I can't comment about the inside. The outside area is surrounded by foliage and bird feeders. Holy hot damn this place is killer! Seriously, the flavors, service, freshness, yada yada yada, is flipping knock your socks off. The entire house has an awesome upscale vibe that translates from the ambiance to the food. Delicious craft beer from local breweries are at the bar. I ordered the mushroom fondue with 16 grain bread. It was, as expected, delicious. Because I'm trying to slim down this summer I opted for the filet salad. It had a wonderful blue cheese dressing, bacon, onions, and perfectly cooked steak on it. The gentleman next to me ordered the burger with goat cheese and it also looked amazing. I ate the bar, which was upstairs in the house, different but totally cool. If your looking for unique dinning experience that's hits 5/5 stars on every level. This is your place. I don't understand the rave reviews Wildflower receives as I think it just ok. I had a work dinner here recently. I had the Smoked Ohio Wagyu Ribeye steak. I thought it was mediocre. I thought it was very chewy. There are so many good steakhouses in this town if you want steak. I should have picked a different entree. I will say that I have had the burger in the past and recall it being very good. I want to like Wildflower more. I must be missing want many others enjoy about it. read more

Have dinned here a couple times now and am always pleased by the variety and updates to the menu and daily offerings. Some nights, reservations are 100% required, others it is sufficient to simply call ahead and ensure they have availability prior to heading over. The bar and the mixology capabilities are right up there with the food as well. The bread and herbed butter is a menu staple and it is so simple as a starter, but so work it, I highly recommend starting off with this and then delving into culinary delight. read more

This place is inside a really cute yellow house, love the cozy feeling and decor. It's a very small and busy place, we were lucky to walk in and got seated right away. We ordered the coffee crusted rib eye medium to share - we tried to cut it and it wasn't cutting at all, tried stabbing it a fork too, it just bounced back. Lol we were getting a workout, so I had to send it back. The kitchen was able to cut us a new piece and remake it. It tasted okay, I did like the seasoning but I wish there's better side or sauce accompanying the meat. Overall disappointing experience. The restaurant is an old small house so the acoustics are very bad. If anyone is drinking the sound and acoustics can be very shrill; which defeats the purpose of a nice date night out. One of the best farm to table restaurants I've eaten at in 2019. I ate here with my wife on Friday. the food here is SOOOOO good. we got here around 8:30 and the place was packed. It's a cute home in a very cool looking town. the driveway to get into the place is one way so you have to keep an eye out for other cars. Soon as you walk in it just feels like home and the waitstaff here truly makes it feel that way as well. our waitress was a total sweetheart! I can't remember her name to save my life though! it was a little loud inside so I did t hear it when she gave it to us. my wife had the Smoked Ohio Wagyu Ribeye and OMG it was amazing! and was cooked perfectly. it just melted on your tongue. the vegetables were cooked to perfection as well! very tasty. I had the Grass-fed Filet Mignon "Wellington". The sherrie mushroom sauce was mouth watering. I could put that stuff on anything! so so good. perfectly cooked. if you come here most definitely get the Bread & Herb Butter.. you will NOT regret it. finally for desert we had the bread pudding.. I never was much of a bread pudding fan until now. do yourself a favor and save room! you'll be so glad you did. Everyone was so nice here. they allowed us to look around and even showed us the kitchen before we left. it very small! it's crazy to think the chef puts out as many amazing dishes as he does in such a small kitchen. The Wildflower was good! My blogging business partner came here and she posted it on instagram, so I had to try it. I'm glad I did. I love this little cafes decor and atmosphere. They bought a house and turned it into a cute cafe. From the time you drive up to the time you walk in everything is cute. The staff is nice and accommodating. We started off our dinner with drinks. I ordered the Wildflower Mimosa and my husband ordered Pinot Noir. My mimosa was good. I liked that it was simple but had different flavors than a traditional mimosa. It was made with ingredients you wouldn't usually find in a mimosa (Grand Marnier, Chambord, Parma, Raw Orange Juice, Lavender Oil, and Presseco). I loved this! My husband liked his Pinot Noir. We ordered their bread and butter which was 16 Bricks Bread with an herb butter. This was delicious. It was slightly warmed which allowed the butter to combine well with the bread. The herb butter was delicious. It was like homemade garlic bread. We ate the entire loaf. The entrees from here were really good. I ordered the Coconut Gulf Shrimp and my husband ordered the "Grassland Graze" Beef Burger. My coconut shrimp was delicious. The dish consisted of Alabama Gulf shrimp + gluten free coconut crust + pineapple curried rice + minted cucumber + vanilla sauce. Everything played nicely together. The vanilla sauce was amazing and I asked for more. The minted cucumber added the perfect crunch and tartness to cut through the sweetness. The shrimp was seasoned and fried perfect. I also liked that the shrimp wasn't overly breaded. It was the perfect ratio. Overall, this was an amazing dish! My husband really enjoyed his burger. I took a bit and it was very good! His burger had 16 Bricks bun + basil aioli + peppered bacon + red onion + balsamic tomato + shredded local lettuce + pickle - Served with a simple salad and your choice of: Organic American, Organic Blue or Goat Cheese. Have been to Wildflower many times but it had been several months and wow, it was like a different restaurant :(. First the positive, we sat outside Friday evening which was lovely and our server was very nice. Our salads were both fine except the peaches in my husband's salad were literally rock hard. For dinner I ordered the vegan curry and my husband had the peach and tomato pasta. The curry was so bland - it had a few vegetables and some rice noodles - no nuts, no spice (I've had the vegan curry before with rice at Wildflower and loved it). My husband's pasta came out all clumped together and the peaches were again rock hard. If you have a restaurant that prides itself on fresh ingredients, don't serve produce that isn't great. We had a wonderful experience at Wildflower - it was well worth the 50 minute drive! We met our party of nine here for a friend's birthday. Both he and his wife, a good friend of mine, raved about how much we would love Wildflower. I was a little skeptical, since I don't put much stock in believing that any establishment that has 'coffee house' in its title will serve good and/or satisfying food. I'm so happy to report how wrong I was. The staff, the ambiance, the food, the service and the cleanliness of this little restaurant makes the place such a treasure! It is such a cute little restaurant, the outdoor dining area looks like a garden. And all the staff members that we met there were sooooo nice and friendly. There were no snooty hipster or bored college student servers here that night. The food is amazing. Because it's not an overwhelmingly large menu, I'm pretty sure that between everyone in our party I was able to sample about 60% of the menu. The chicken and waffles were delicious (the sauce was a little too sweet for my liking but that's purely a preference thing rather than execution flaw). The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and smoked on-site (forget you, Montgomery Inn, you're so basic). I split a "small" (it's big) salad that had Wildflower's "shaved ribeye bacon", avocado, hard cooked eggs, sharp cheddar and an assortment of other yummy things tossed in a delicious, sinus-clearing tangy sauce. The truffled mushroom fonduta was every.bit.as.delicious.as. it.sounds. Hey, when my kid's not around, I get all wild and crazy and indulge my mushroom-loving side. I ordered the cheeseburger. Admittedly, I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to one of my all-time favorite splurges: I prefer real, smoky, pork bacon rather than the shaved ribeye "bacon" that came on the burger. Also, I don't really love my burger all fancied-up with things like balsamic-glazed vegetables - but it was a gourmet spin on a classic that I am happy I tried. The beef patty itself was fantastic: thick, juicy, med-rare and perfectly seasoned. I would totally order the burger again, just without the vegetables. And you must, MUST order their bread pudding for dessert! I was told that they switch up the bread pudding flavors, eg., cinnamon roll, etc. but they had WARM CHOCOLATE CHIP BREAD PUDDING that night. WITH BOURBON CREAM SAUCE. Have you ever! Well I have, and I wanted to cry as I ate that warm majestic square of heaven. It was slap-your-grandma-good. Order it if/when you go to Wildflower. The slap-your- grandma-good bread pudding. Our total bill was a pleasant surprise too. This was an awesome find in mason oh. It's an old house that has been renovated into a restaurant. Bar upstairs little bar but it's cool. The menu is seasonal so you may not see what I ate when you go. I had a lobster crab cake with the wildflower salad. It was kale beets, walnuts, and goat cheese. Truly wonderful!! I would suggest this place for sure great ambience and service was as well. It looks like they have a lot of local wines as well. I was having lunch so I did not partake in a glass but would suggest. Farm to table. First time at Wildflower and unaware that I entered at the rear entrance only. Guess I didn't see the sign on the ground, just wondered why I could see people but couldn't open the door. Was able to be seated before my reservation time and wait on my friends. It started to fill up so the reservation was great. Deciding on what to get was very difficult. So many yummy items on the menu. It was between the chicken and waffles and the fried green tomato BLT. I ended up with the latter choice and did not regret it at all...from the first bite to the empty plate. I will definitely be going back again. read more

This was one of our favorite places in the past. Last years visit was mediocre, but we wanted to give it one more try. We attempted to make a noon reservation, but were asked to come in at 11:45. Not a problem, but the place was empty after we left at 12:30. When they offer 3 different iced teas(that's a positive) and you order the "classic" black tea with lemon and sweetener you don't expect it to be flavored. It had a mint flavor. Is that classic? After seeing chain restaurants appearing as de rigueur for the area, I pulled out my iPhone and searched Yelp for something different. I was led directly to the Wildflower Cafe and Coffee House. Wow, so glad I experienced this spot. The decor was eclectic. The fact the restaurant sits in a quaint home makes it feel even more creative. And the food ... was outstanding. For lunch, I had a melt with a freshly brined pickle and a side salad. Something so simple was turned out of this world by a team in the kitchen. The Wildflower has earned my much coveted 5 star rating. We went to Wildflower last week and had an overall fantastic experience. The restaurant is run on the converted first floor of a house. They pride themselves in working with fresh, local, high quality ingredients. The craftsmanship in the kitchen brings everything together for a delicious meal. The service was pleasant, attentive and informative. We felt welcome from beginning to end. The appetizer, main courses and deserts were all delicious. Everything was seasoned in a way to allow the underlying good ingredients shine. The dining area is informal and relaxing as well a tidy and clean. One aspect I really liked were the music choices which included B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Grateful Dead and Dylan. I anticipate many returns to the Wildflower. read more

I have been enjoying The Wildflower Cafe since they opened a number of years ago, and after a recent visit, I thought it was time for a review. I was not yet a vegan when WC opened, so I have tried many of the items on their menu- from hearty winter soups to summer salads. With the exception of one visit, every meal has been a home run. Okay, first- it's always crowded, so make a reservation! Everyone in your group is sure to find something on the menu that appeals. The menu changes often, and there are some really creative minds at work in this tiny kitchen. I was really pleased to find a solid vegan option show up on the menu last year, which is the Vegan Curry. Let me tell you, I'm no big fan of curry...but this is outrageously delicious. That said, I ordered it another time and was really disappointed. Everything that was delicate and flavorful the first time, was outrageously over spiced the second time. That's ok, WC, I'll forgive this time, and I think I'll give it another try. My most recent visit I went with an old vegan stand-by, the Wildflower Salad (entree size). This is no wimpy salad, folks. It's hearty and beautiful, full of all of the goodness the earth has to offer this time of year. This salad comes with bacon and cheese as written, but of course it can be left off. The fish specials are always a hit with my husband, and everyone still raves about the burgers, since day one. The wait staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, craft beers and wines. Don't forget the coffee- it's roasted locally & top notch. I also love that the guys in the kitchen always greet you as you come in the back door, or thank you for coming when you leave.
