I love Wine!!! I recently went there for an Annual Design Event. I was really excited the event was taken place here. As you arrive, the scenery is just Gorgeous. You drive through the never-ending Vineyard fields. As you arrive to the place they have the parking lot to the right and the buildings to the left. The buildings reminded me of colonial times, very traditional. The place was decorated beautifully with lights and candles and had an earthy, but elegant feel to it. Tried their wine a lil bit of the white and their red wines. They were really good, I couldn't get enough, but of course I had to be responsible, bc I had to drive back home alone. Their appetizers were very appetizing, they had jumbo seasoned shrimp, meatballs, and spinach dip accompanied with special pita-like crackers. Yummm. As for the main entree for the night, they served white meat chicken breast with a gravy sauce, with grilled asparagus, and potatoes. It wasn't too bad, it was good. Their staff were very friendly and helpful. This place would be great for occasions such as Weddings, birthdays, reunions, Award Ceremonies, etc. I'm definitely gonna come back and try it their winery tour! read more

We were able to have the full Williamsburg Winery experience. One night we attended a wedding at the winery and the following day we went on their tasting tour and lunch. The winery itself is gorgeous. Colonial architecture mixed with French accents throughout the whole compound, which overlooks the scenic Virginia countryside. The wedding we attended was professionally executed by the WW staff. The ceremony itself was held on the back lawn, which allowed the bridal party to elegantly appear one by one through the 2nd floor Chateau-esque French doors of the Winery's Great Room and waltz down the curved double staircase to the lawn to walk down the aisle. For brief moments, one would forget they were in Virginia and not visiting a rural vineyard in France. The reception was held in the Great Room, which was the perfect size and setting for spending the remaining part of the night. Complete with imported French vintage chandeliers, roaring handmade stone fireplaces bookends in the room and rustic hardwood floors with matching cathedral ceilings, the venue made for a night not easily forgotten. Upon returning the following day for our tour, we were able to see the rest of the vineyard and try the on-site bistro, the Gabriel Archer Tavern. The deal we purchased online included a 2 course lunch from a prix fixe menu, a glass of wine, 12% grat, a 1 hr tour of the winery and a tasting. Lunch was very well executed. The menu includes 4-6 items ranging from a summer turkey sandwich (see photo) which me and my girlfriend both got, to their rendition of a Waldorf salad. Portion size was surprisingly large, as the sammy was about 8" in length with generous portions of brie and turkey. Standard size 6oz wine pours accompanied our meal, which we were able to choose from a list of 6-8 wines. Service was extremely attentive, quick and friendly. The bistro has a quaint appearance both inside and out, complete with a front patio adorned with a ivy covered awning for shaded outside dining. Desert was our choice of a fresh baked cookie, which I picked their "royal" cookie (coconut, white chocolate and regular chips) while my GF went for the traditional CC. Both were great and a nice note to end lunch on. Next we walked across the way to the winery for the tour. The tours run about every 30 minutes, so wait times are nominal. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about both the wine making process and the winery's history, pointing out little tidbits on architecture and effortlessly answering group questions with informative answers. The tour led us through the winery cellars, glimpses at their reserve wine collection, the bottling line, a small museum tipping the cap to colonial wine making, and finally to the tasting room. As most tastings go, you receive 7-9 small tastings from the winery's offerings. Again, our tour guide (also led the tasting) was very knowledgeable of the wines, providing us with explanations of the varietals, tasting notes and pairing suggestions. WW has over 15 different kinds of wine being produced, with some being reserve wines with 3+ years of oak aging, which are not part of the standard tasting (reserve wine tasting is available). I found the majority of the wines sampled to be very interesting, covering a broad spectrum of flavors while maintaining balance. Pricing is also very affordable if you wish to purchase bottles to take home, ranging from $9-$50 per bottle. We ended up walking away with 8 bottles of various wines at a total of $89, which is certainly well worth the price. In summary, I highly encourage anyone visiting Williamsburg to set aside time to visit Williamsburg Winery. Not only is it a great way to escape the monotony of pancake houses and roller coasters, but an excellent way to learn about the Virginia wine scene and to kick back with a glass of cab sauv or 4. One thing to note, if you have children, please do not bring them along on this experience. Though WW will allow children to accompany their parents during the tour, there is nothing for them to do or eat at the winery. During our tour, a couple brought along their 5 children, whom could not keep quiet and were restless throughout the whole tour. On several occasions, our tour guide politely asked the couple to control their children, as they were distracting him, along with the other patrons. The same goes for the on-site bistro. A separate couple with 2 children came in during lunch inquiring about children's menus, but to no avail (and were later seen awkwardly sitting on the pavement outside eating chex mix and bologna sandwiches). In my 20+ winery tours, I have never seen such an egotistical spectacle, only leaving the staff of winery, the patrons and the children to suffer. But I digress, WW is a must for any wine enthusiast and I cannot recommend enough! read more

The winery is beautiful! You can see fields and fields of grape plants around the winery. The winery itself is pretty small. We didn't do the tour so we only saw the bar area and the store. We did the tastings which cost $9 for 7 tastings. They had a lot of wines that I liked, but beware, not all the wines are their own grapes. I was disappointed when the bartender was describing one of the wines to me and told me the grapes were from California. I'm from California, so I wanted to try the grapes from their winery! Just make sure you ask which ones are their own grapes, and which ones are made with grapes in the area, if you care about that. read more

Would love to make a review based off tasting the actual wine but unfortunately we were told they were "full" then as we were walking away they sat another party that was walking up after us and that party was taken to a table immediately... I have only been discriminated against once and this sad to say was my 2nd time in 43 yrs. The party that was sat was white I am not and also have tattoos. My boyfriend and I made a last minute decision to stop here before heading back to PA. We went did the tour and tasting with Joe and it was only $10/person. We got to see the wine making process and all the barrels of fermenting wines in their cellar. At the wine tasting, we tasted 8 of their wines and then got to keep the glass! I like this place because the staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the $10 is definitely worth it. A good winery to visit and experience. Our favorite and the one we selected to age for our 5 year anniversary was the Adagio. We looked at other wineries along the central and southern part of the state and finally found one we loved enough for our 5th. Outside of the Adagio though, the other reds were standard and average to their class. I've had better $10-20 bottles of Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot. The Cabernet Sauvignon was interesting, but also I would place 14 other bottles above this. Altogether, the tasting experience was good, though I wish the other wines gave my wife and I the same feeling as the Adagio. Summary: This place is a worthwhile place to visit for a wine tasting, results may vary. There are similar options with just as good and maybe better tastes within 1-2 hours driving. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by Williamsburg Winery on our way back from Virginia Beach and it was a perfect detour! They offer two different tastings; the classic and a more expensive tasting with some of their reserve wines. One of the workers at the winery suggested that one of us could do the reserve pairing and the other could do the classic tasting, so that we could share without having to both pay a higher price. We ended up deciding to do that and it worked perfectly! Once you get to the tasting room, they hand you a sheet that lists the wines and indicates whether or not they are dry whites, semi-dry wines, dry reds, or dessert/ specialty wines. The great thing about Williamsburg Winery is that they allow you to select from this list of wines instead of offering a set tasting. The tasting included seven wines, which was more than enough given that they were rather generous pours. The wine was very good and all of the servers were very attentive and knowledgeable about the wines and the winemaking process. It is definitely a worthwhile place to visit on a day trip to Williamsburg! read more

Interesting. I actually had no idea that Virginia had a climate that was conducive to growing wine grapes. This interesting winery is located just outside of the historic Williamsburg area, tucked back in a residential neighborhood. Wine tastings run daily for a cost of $12 bucks a person, and patrons get to sample about six different varietals. There is an old large hall that can be rented for things like weddings, receptions, parties, etc... The wine itself is in the mid -tier as far as pricing - in the $15 to $30 range for most. Interesting if you have some time to kill, but there is SO much to see in the area that you would want to be a wine fan should you put this stop on your schedule (if you are a tourist). read more

Really enjoyed this winery !! Before heading into our tour and tasting we had a flight at the pavilion. I got the Virginia Sweet flight and let me tell you I loved all of them! After that we had our tour which our guide was very informative and knew what he was talking about. Learned how they produce the diff types of wines then we had a tasting in the wine cellar. This place is so romantic and beautiful. Visited here 5/6/2016 and I had an amazing time. We enjoyed a tour and tasting. Our tour guide was very nice and we learned a lot. I forgot her name. We got to taste 7 wines. I felt like I tried more because what i didn't like my boyfriend did and vice versa. It was $12 pp for the tour and tasting. Everything lasted like an hour. I love this winery so much. First of all, the location is so beautiful, it is family friendly and also a great place to go on a date. The wine selection is really nice, one of my favorite wines is the raspberry desert wine. The wine tastings are reasonably priced, and they also give you a free wine glass at the end of the tasting! I've gone here several times with friends and family and have loved it every single time. The staff is quite knowledgeable on their wines, explaining the notes present in each sample you taste, and they even give you the option to tour the winery which is super fun. We had an absolutely fabulous time on our winery tour at the Williamsburg winery. We enjoyed the $10 tour of the cellar and the tasting- they do offer an extended tour and wine tasting for closer to $40 where you get to sample their reserved wines- maybe if we visit again we'll try that. We also ate a tasting menu at the restaurant on location- it was extremely reasonably priced ($55 for 5 glasses of wine and 4 courses of food), was tons of fun as we were all seated together at one table, and had lovely wine and amazing food. I believe the cultural tastings are on Thursday nights- and I would highly recommend making a reservation for one! read more

Some definitely pros and cons for me here Pros: *$10 gets you 7 decently poured tastings. And you can keep the glass, * Decent wine. VA wine doesn't have a great rep for good reason, many places aren't good, but this winery had a few that like the Chard and the Petit Manseng that I actively liked. Cons: * We were there when it wasn't busy - there were 5 groups of patrons and 3 servers. For some reason two of the smaller groups had their own server and us 3 large groups had to share the same server who was taking breaks to chat with the other servers. *No good place to drink a bottle after your tasting. They have a restaurant on site so after your tasting if you want a bottle you might think it'd be nice to sit on the restaurant deck to enjoy it - that'll cost you $5 bucko. I get that there might be some licensing issues at play here, but if that's the case, they should carve out and point you to an area where you can enjoy a recently purchased bottle rather than leave you this this rude awakening *The seats around the tasting tables are reserved for non-tasters and children. Ummm ok?? So I'm giving you my money but the people not giving you money are the ones who get to sit? Kinda lame read more

I stopped at the Williamsburg Winery on 10/14/17 looking while for something to do in the area. I purchased a tasting of their sweeter flights. (The winery offers numerous types of flights based different styles of wines.) The women who performed our tasting was very knowledgeable. If I had one minor compliant it would be that I had to locate a dump bucket for our tasting. I was tasting with an indivdual who was not a big wine drinker and, I ensured her that if she didn't like something she didn't have to drink it. I was surprised to learn how old the winery is and that they have the best selling white wine (in all of VA). Ironically, I went to a dinner party a few weeks ago where they were serving the best selling wine; and, the host told me it was the only VA wine she'll drink. I can see why Williamsburg Winery is a destination for events (other than the fact it has the beauty of most wineries) their rooms can easily be arrange to have different set ups for chairs and tables. It appeared the whole winery is set up to be verstiale when it comes to accommendating groups. In a nutshell a nice place to spend an hour or two. read more

The worst serving experience we've ever had. We came to Williamsburg to visit family for Thanksgiving. We got there at 1:10 pm. Ordered 1/2 dozen oysters, 2 glasses of wine, pickled veggies, 2 BLT's and a Cobb salad. Tell me why it took over an HOUR they our food...? At 50 minutes I had to get up to remind our waitress that it's been a while and needed to know how much longer it would be. To my surprise (NOT) the little Asian girl rolled her eyes and said "it's coming up now". I went back to our table, told my family, and they said we need to leave. I went back to our waitress and advised we needed our food to go at this point as an hour wait was unacceptable. Again, rolled her eyes and told the kitchen it needed to be to go. At that point I'm pissed! The wait was unacceptable, but the attitude was even more so uncalled for. So we get our food to go, and rather argue that we shouldn't even pay for our meteocre food, we handed her our card and left. NOT ONE SORRY! Not a "I'm sorry this took so long", not a "so sorry for the wait", but an excuse of "we are short staffed in the kitchen". Didn't even get a Happy Thanksgiving out of the girl.... The tasting room experience was just horrible. The server didn't clear the prior people's stuff then said what do you want? When asked about the wine she didn't know and looked at us like we were crazy. She should be educated on what she is serving. She should also stop wearing a carabiner on her waist that clicks every step she makes. And the wine flights in the tasting room all have to be served to you at a table and only with preselected groups of 4 wines. We couldn't substitute for wine types we know we don't like but yet the flights are $22-24. For first timers, I'm not interested in trying 15 wines with full glass pours at $9 per. The estate itself is gorgeous and obviously their vineyard manager and crew know exactly what they are doing. We won't go back and didn't buy any bottles to go, nor did we take our souvenir glass as we didn't want a reminder of a poor experience. read more

You can also opt to do the tour of the location, just the wine tasting, enjoy the food or take in the scenery. But definitely leave with a few bottles though. I normally go for the tastings and purchasing bottles, so the last time we went, we opted to eat the food there as well which we should have been doing since the beginning. The flatbread is amazing as well as the sangria. Try it all and have a great afternoon/evening. read more

Once you get past the hostess who evidently views her role as more of a gatekeeper than welcoming committee, this place is fantastic Enthusiastic staff explained the specials and the menu along with the drink list. Go with the charcuterie board!! Get the Strawberry champagne jam while it lasts! Awesome with the Brie. Nothing on the board was bad though. The four of us were divided over the flatbread and the chicken salad sandwich . Roast beef and pulled pork were both really good BlackBerry mojito and cinnamon whiskey were a hit.
