After two hours in the bar waiting for a private event to end, we were told that we needed a reservation (another 1/2 hour wait), or that we could eat in the bar. The manager(?) saw how upsetting these options were, and Immediately sat us in the empty restaurant. From that point on we were treated with amazing service, and a complimentary appetizer. To be fair, my parents and I are all asian, so maybe we're not used to the american sized portions, but we were too full to finish our meals - even my dad couldn't finish his french onion soup! Wine - I was once told that 2009 was a good year - stick with it. so I picked the Ken Brown 2009 Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara county - naturally, since we were so close. However, the menu hadn't been updated and the waiter didn't even mention that they were now serving 2011's. Makes sense since Pinots generally shouldn't be aged for that long, however, he should've mentioned it. Even when he brought out the wine, I had to point it out to him. Beet Salad - definitely better than the one I had at Umamicatessen, but then again, this is an upscale restaurant. Mum said her lamb shank was alright. nothing to rave about - but we call couldn't stop talking about the salad. The bread - comped but they didn't bring it out without being asked for it. It comes with fresh roasted garlic, artichoke dip, butter and I believe, if i remember correctly, a cream and chive dip - Yum, Yum and YUM! My scallops were a little too burnt for my taste. They were alright. I'd venture to say I make them better. Food is alright but you're coming here for the ambience because I couldn't find very many nice restaurants close to Dutch Town (Solvang). I would give this place zero stars if I could. Brought my husband here for Father's Day. Made reservations in advance and still waited 20 minutes to be seated. Specifically requested indoor seating and they sat us outside. We were given menus and left at the table for over 45 minutes. My husband had to walk up to the counter and ask what was as going on. 4 other tables who were sat after us were provided drinks and appetizers. We had to ask the busboy walking by to get us water and he also brought the complimentary bread. Then after waiting for nearly an hour for someone to take our order, the waitress said she was not able to serve the Father's Day special, which was an option provided with our menu. We asked to speak to the manager to see if she was able to honor the meal or adjust some items from the original menu and she flat out refused. Even after knowing that we had waited an hour just sitting there. This place is a joke. I'd rather take my money and support another business with those who prioritize customer satisfaction. So we decided to hang out at Chumash for a minute and saw this steak house. Never heard of Willows before. But tbh, my husband and I are kind of steak snobs. We LOVE Ruth Chris, and haven't been impressed by many restaurants since. Willows was A-MAZING! Our waiter Jason went above and beyond. Everything he suggested Was SO GOOD. Love this place! Didn't know if was a four diamond before we came but the pictures on social media got my attention. We tried to make a reservation for a party of 18 for my birthday but they restricted it to set menus...and after rounds of negotiation, they are still pretty firm on us doing a fixed menu. So we weren't gonna go but at the end of the day, some peeps decided not to do dinner and we ended up with less people so we called again asking if it's possible to do regular menu and we got it! We got a private room too :) So glad we opted for regular menu cus there were way more choices and they all look really good and came out really good too. Cocktails were good :) and they give you warm bread basket with a few different dips and spreads including a full on grilled garlic where you can easily remove the "skin" and press it against your bread. It was awesome. I had the sea bass as an entree for my dinner and it was the best block of fish I've had! It was super juicy and soft on the inside and lightly pan fried on the outside. It came with mushrooms and baby Bok Choy. It was the perfect fish dish! My friends ordered steak, scallops!! (Tried some and was amazing), pork shank (it was HUGE), mac n cheese... The ambiance is beautiful, has all the details of a high-end restaurant, located on the 3-rd floor of the casino. Spent $240, for my husband and I. Two cocktails and two glasses of wine, one NYE three-course dinner & two sides and Wagyu steak. Our server was fine, he made a few remarks correcting my husband and me, which okay I am not someone that can't be corrected, but there is a more polite way of doing so. The server was annoyed my husband went with a $50 plate versus the upgraded Kobe beef for $190 a plate, wasn't something we were interested in, he then proceeds to tell us they will have to make $100 tacos from the meat since no one is ordering it... Um, Okay? Honestly, the steaks were okay, I've had better at a typical steak house. The mushroom's side was very blan and had no salt, odd. I came here for my birthday and I am very disappointed that this was my birthday meal. I ordered a medium rare ribeye. However, when I first cut into the steak, it was medium well. I thought it was just the end so I cut in deeper but with each cut, it turned from medium well to medium. I brought it to the attention of our server and showed her each of my cuts. She told me to cut straight down the middle. Only then did I see a little slightly red spot. She said this was medium rare. So as long as a dime size piece of the steak is slightly pink, the steak is medium rare? I don't think so hun but she didn't do anything about my medium steak. Would not recommend. Asked for diver scallops well done and they were very under cooked for my liking (wife and I hav a bad experience years ago with undercooked so we always asked for well done). No butter for wife's lobster after asking 3 times. Her filet mignon was over cooked... requested medium got WELL done. She said it was okay but didn't bother to take the left overs... more than half was left. Honestly, we have had better food at basic steak houses for A LOT less cost. Very nice setting. We sat on the patio. The staff was friendly. Our waitress was attentive and quick. Started with the crap cakes, which are some of the best we have ever had. I ordered the petite filet medium rare and got it medium well. When paying $67 for a meal I expect it to be cooked appropriately, however it was still tender and delicious. My father had the seafood grill. He enjoyed his dinner and shared his shrimp with me which was amazing. I would have given the place 5 stars but my husband order the ribeye medium rare and got it well done. It was tough and he asked to send it back. When they brought another one it was medium well. My husband does BBQ competitions so we know cooks on meat. They brought it back and told us it was the lighting outside and in the kitchen, when they looked at it, it was medium rare. That was truly laughable but for the sake of not having someone mess with his food, he politely accepted it. He had to add salt but it wasn't as tough as the first one. By the time he got it we were done with our meal and they didn't even offer a discount. For what appeared to be a fine dining establishment, it was pretty disappointing. read more

Once I was greeted, the hostess managed to lose my receipt. After finally picking up my food and returning to my hotel room, I discover that my meal was totally incorrect. SO friendly & super hilarious. He made the night extremely enjoyable & made suggestions for our food. He even shook our hands at the end of the meal which I've never had done before. What I liked was besides the typical butter they gave you a whole roasted garlic clove which I also used on my steak & 2 other different spreads which I didn't get a chance to try. I had the ribeye with a side of mashed potatoes (all sides are al a carte). Please invest in new steak knives cause at first I thought my steak was hard af but I realized it was just the knife LOL ! Tasty steak though & yummy mashed potatoes though I didn't care much for the gravy or whatever they put on top. Have them butterfly cut your steak! My friend got the salmon with a side of lobster mac & cheese. He said the fish was tasty & we both would tell you the lobster mac was delish, huge chunks of lobster not those itty bitty sad pieces! We eat here when we visit Chumash, and I keep going with their steaks, and I need to stop! I love the bread and the assortments of breads that come with it. I also like the way the present the wedge salad. It is 3 small wedges of lettuce and a perfect servicing size. Each time I get a steak, they come with no flavor and when it has no flavor it's worthless getting a steak and I've had steak their several times and I am disappointed each time. I wanted to order the 24oz prime rib but unfortunately, it was not available the night we went. So I ordered the bone-in rib eye steak and it was tasty and super tender. What a fantastic place! We were so pleasantly surprised to find such an oasis inside the Chumash Casino. We were staying at the Corque Hotel in Solvang and they have a free shuttle that goes back and forth 24 hours a day. So when the wine tasting is done, the evening fun begins! The Willows is all the way in the rear of the casino and up in the non-smoking section. The bar itself had a relaxed Tuscan vibe and would have been fun to hang out in. We ventured further in to the restaurant and found a 4 star restaurant. Their wine list is extensive, they have Voss bottled water on ice at each table and they have an excellent selection of fresh breads and a tapas tray with artichoke spread, roasted garlic, herbed cheese, butter and marinated olives. I had to stop myself from filling up on these goodies. We started with wine and Lobster Bisque. YUM! Best Lobster Bisque ever. Smooth, creamy texture with so much flavor. Before our entrees, the Chef was kind enough to send out tasting portions of his Potato Leek soup for us to try. It wasn't on the menu but if it ever is, I'm trying it again because it was amazing. Layered flavors and a little kick too. And I think it was topped with a dash of truffle oil too. (Trying to save room for the entree was tough!) I had Diver Scallops with Risotto and Honey had Chicken Picata. Oh my. Fresh and delicious. Honey said it was the tender-est chicken he had ever tasted and that the wine sauce was too yummy. I really loved my scallops. They had a rich, buttery sauce and were seared perfectly. Oops. No room for dessert. LOL Even though the selection was tempting! And, our Servers were fantastic. This review is for the Lounge at the Willows. The Willows itself was very forgettable except for the top shelf service we recvd from our server Jesse (that guy needs a promotion). Overall, a 3 star experience. Luckily, we were advised by Jesse to try the burger at the Willows Lounge. This turned out to be one the top 5 burgers I've had in a restaurant (my Dad cooks the best and I'm a hot second). The bartender suggested very strongly that we should have the burger "as is" and make no substitutions or adjustments. Good advice. This burger had it all. Juicy, perfectly cooked patty, crisp bacon and the egg just brought it all together (and I'm not even an "egg on burger" fan). Just a perfect burger. I'd fly to Santa Barbara just to get this burger- It's that good! On Tuesday, February 22 at 7:30, my friends and I went to the willows for a nice dinner and what started out nice ended up being my worst experience. Our server, Jennifer, took our order and did an alright job making sure the order was correct and even gave us a free dessert! Well, when it came time for the check we split it 3 ways and 2 of us (who paid with card) signed our receipts and left. I even left her $20 cash with my signed, approved receipt. After we left, about 30 minutes later I got a call (because I'm the one who made the reservation) saying my friend left her card. So we went back and got it. There were NO mentions of anything being wrong with our bill then, and a fun fact they even had her card for a few minutes after. So we went back hung out for a few minutes and then departed ways. Then I get a call (now a little over an hour after dinner) from Jennifer saying she messed up on her end and need us to come back and pay. Well this is where everything went down hill. I let my friend who was still there know to check her bank account and see if she was charged and what I was told. She ended up going back and repaid her bill and was told "we will take care of you next visit" but didn't even take her name or gave her anything to show for there "promise". Meanwhile, I had already left the casino and don't live nearby. I got a call from Frank (the general manager) saying "to call him back regarding my unpaid bill" at now 10:14pm. I have work and a family too people I need to get sleep. So I called back the next day and left a voice asking what went wrong because I also work in the restaurant industry. He didn't call me back till at/a little after 5 when I went to my night shift job. So Thursday I called the willows and didn't get a response and didn't receive a call from him either. Friday now comes along, he calls me now twice in a row again after 5 when I was at work. Leaving a voicemail stating "Hi Alison this is Frank calling from the Willows um I need you to give me a call as in regarding your bill I know that you said the amount of stuff the phone your account but um and actually it wasn't so actually you have an unpaid bill so am I need you to give me a call otherwise I'm gonna turn this over to our investigators here in the casino and they will be contacting you so please give me a call when you get a chance". So I then called during my break around 8:30, and asked the same questions "what went wrong and why did you reverse my charges when I had already paid" because I wanted to know what went wrong and why it was my fault they REVERSED the charges he got mad and hung up. So I called him when I got off at midnight because I know the willows closes late, and stated how I wasn't trying to fight or argue just wanted to know what my fault is in this case and why I know have to waste my gas to go back on my "free time" (I'm a mom during the day that works full-time night shift). He got mad again and said that I should just give my card info over the phone when now I was no longer comfortable to give him it over the phone and would prefer I'm person so I can see the card being charged. He then got mad at me again and said "I do not want to talk to you anymore about this and will let the investigators contact you now" and hung up on me. Now being hostile towards me I then called guest services at the casino Saturday morning because Frank Mejia is not being nice and treating me like a thief. Even though I PAID my bill and signed the receipt! They reversed the charges later for Jennifer's mistake? Anyways, go somewhere else and avoid the hassle/trouble here. I really wanted this place to be better. We couldn't find any place that was open that was vegan friendly past 9PM, so we came here. They have a separate vegan menu which looked great. One thing about this place is it smells like cigarettes, everything smells like cigarettes. Not used to that smell and it was not appealing. We ordered our drinks which were good, the grilled artichoke was yummy and the bread and dipping sauces were too. I ordered the impossible steak which said it came on fingerling potatoes but it didn't, they put it on brussel sprouts instead and since we had ordered a side of brussel sprouts it was really redundant. My friend had the french onion soup which was good, but the Salmon was lacking and he didn't eat it. Our waiter was very accommodating and friendly.
