Everyone in my family loves Chinese. We decided to stay home and order with Uber Eats. We have had many successful deliveries with Grubhub but this time we decided to try something different. The Wok was on their restaurant list. The food arrived ahead of schedule and was plenty hot. The first thing you notice about the restaurant is the over extensive menu. There is Chinese, Sushi, Dim Sum, Noodles and Rice, Vietnamese and Thai dishes on the menu. Each of these cuisines is a specialty in itself and I am afraid that their chef's talent is not deep enough to handle all of these. The Pad Thai was a disaster. They did not use the proper noodles; no egg was present in the dish and the color of the noodles and chicken was a reddish/pink with a little orange. Its square noodles were stuck together and the sauce color made the chicken look like silly putty. It was also lacking in taste. The Shrimp Egg Rolls were crisp but greasy. In addition, if there was any shrimp in those egg rolls it could not be found. The Chicken with Black Bean looked the best but the sauce should have been thicker and it lacked enough black beans and garlic. The dumplings we ordered were generally good but not good enough to overcome the other shortcoming with the food. read more

I've been here couple of times before I started to yelp and I'd have to say they are great place to go get lunch, dinner, bubble tea! They offer Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai food! Lots of options. *Take-out review* I only called to order, so I've never dined in here, but they do not disappoint! When I was a college student at RIT, I went to Wok With You all the time! I was so sad when they closed down, but this restaurant is run by the same guy! I can't believe I waited this long to try it. The food is delicious! When I called to order, they were very efficient in taking my order. I asked for a lot of alterations to the items I ordered, and they got them all right! The service is quick, but not at all sloppy. The food is delicious! I ordered miso and egg drop soup, both of which tasted perfect. The basil Thai fried rice is delicious, and not at all spicy. I also tried a rainbow roll, and though their sushi isn't bad, I've had better. But I'm biased because I'm used to fresh sushi on the West coast. However, you can't beat the price!! Huge portions for the cost (all of that cost me $26)! And when I walked in to pick up my order, the restaurant was very clean and in a newer building! I saw other reviews for The Wok so we stopped by while in the area yesterday. We both had the egg drop soup. It was tasty but it was thick as cooling jello. My lunch companion refused to eat it. I ate mine reluctantly. Not bad but why was it the consistency of pudding? I ordered Pad Thai and my friend ordered chicken with garlic sauce. I'm not really sure how it was because as soon as they brought our meals to the table the fruit flies followed. They swarmed so much we were swatting them away to no avail. We asked for boxes, paid and left. Probably shouldn't have paid. My friend placed her meal in a nearby trash can. I put mine in my car. We had coffee next door and I wished we had eaten there. When I opened my car I thought someone had farted badly in there but remembered the food and promptly threw it away. I should've know better because when we walked in it was pretty dirty. My co workers and myself tried this place for lunch for take out. Sadly, everyone's food was terrible. My pad thai was dry, weirdly tangy and lacked peanut flavor. The chicken was rubbery and bland. They only offered shrimp as an egg roll option and the shrimp tasted fishy/old. My co workers sesame chicken was tangy and not the typical flavor of standard Chinese takeout sesame chicken. The fried rice was flavorless. They did not provide soy sauce packets. They provided their own version of what I guess was duck sauce? which was overly vinegary and inedible. In my co workers won ton soup, there was a shrimp in the wonton. The meat did not taste like pork. The menu items are also overpriced for standard Chinese takeout and the low quality of the food does not represent the high price. read more

I've eaten here several times and enjoyed it. They offer Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine and it's fun trying the different dishes. The dim sum makes a good snack for take-out. They also have some really neat decor, including a dragon - some two feet long - carved from solid jade. Overall, The Wok is definitely a great addition to the neighborhood. My favorite place for asian food in Rochester at the moment. Just about everything I've tried is incredibly delicious. Favorites include: salt & pepper shrimp, beef & broccoli, veggie lo mein, shrimp dumplings, beef udon noodle soup, pad thai, eye round steak pho, passionfruit shaken iced tea. This is my go-to spot for pad thai due to its proximity to the U of R's campus. I can literally walk to the wok and pick up my food which is always a plus. The pad thai, though a bit untraditional with the addition of mushrooms and peppers, rarely disappoints but it could stand to be more spicier. I've also had the crab Rangoon which I enjoy. The bubble tea is also good there. Overall, it's a nice establishment to have within walking distance of campus and the staff is very friendly. read more

This is another great place to order Chinese food or even sit down and eat. I always come in to get bubble tea and boiled dumplings. Recently I've been ordering off the app and they delivered all the way out to chili where I am now. The portions are good but it could be a little more pricy than other restaurants. I ordered the the sushi sashimi combo, fresh spring rolls and the hot and sour soup. I took a bite of my tuna roll and it was so fishy thought it was just that piece and had another and it tasted just as terrible. I looked at it closely and the fish was starting to turn grey. And it totally just turned my appetite off. I had another bite of the sushi pieces and just could not eat anymore. I ended just tossing the whole dish away and it was so expensive. My friends fresh spring rolls were completely ripped so it made it incredibly difficult for her to eat. The hot and sour soup was okay but there was a thick layer of oil sitting on top of the soup. Ever since I moved to Rochester I've been on the hunt for the best Chinese place around. This unfortunately isn't the best, but isn't the worst either. I ordered seasame tofu which was the definition of "Meh". I asked for it to be extra crispy which it was not, and the pieces of tofu were a lot larger than I was expecting. I ended up cutting up the pieces and sticking them in the oven for a few minutes and it helped. The delivery wasn't super fast by any means but I wasn't sitting around wondering where my room was either. I also ordered spring rolls and they weren't the best but I ate them anyway. I don't see myself ordering from here again, but by no means was the food disgusting and the customer service was pretty good. read more

The chef has over 30+ years of experience and makes delicious authentic food! Everything is made fresh when you order and service is quick. He can accommodate special requests and can make traditional Vietnamese, Chinese dishes that are not on the menu. Plenty of parking in the back and is family friendly and great for big parties! We had my sons first birthday here and the presentation of dishes were appetizing and served buffet style with burners to keep food hot. They closed down half the restaurant for our party and were every accommodating! A must go try if you have never been, and it's a repeat for sure! read more

I originally came here for the bubble tea. I'm also a vegetarian, so I decided to try their mock chicken dish. Amazing! I used to be an omnivore, so I'm picky about my mock-meat flavors. They also make the mock chicken General Tso's and likely any other flavor you're in the mood for. Now any time I have a hankering for Chinese this is where I go. 4 stars due to ambience (large dining room with no dividers), and the bubble tea 85% of the time is good and occasionally wows me but sometimes the bubbles are a little hard or the drink has too much ice and not enough drink. Love love LOVE this place! The food is as good as the service. It's always hot, delicious, and well boxed if you get takeout. Lisa in particular is an amazing person who works there. The decor is beautiful and the entire ambiance of the place is great. If you eat in prepare to be well taken care of. My drink was never empty, not even close to it. From their Pho to their lo mein, to their bubble tea; I have NEVER been disappointed. My food is always super yummy and the wait is very short. Their pricing is also super reasonable for the amount of food you get. If you want good Chinese and Vietnamese food, this is the place to go. My sister-in-law is Vietnamese (speaks it as well) and said she had never been to a restaurant that made food like her mom before I took her to The Wok. Every time she's in town she wants to go. Definitely give this a try. The owner is from Taiwan so I would recommend getting their Chinese specialty. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, they are all authentic and delicious. Even my sister and family from Hong Kong have it a thumbs up. I will visit again next time I am in Rochester. read more

I've ordered from The Wok 3 times over the past 2 months. The food is above average, the service is excellent (very fast so far). My only complaint is the prices. They are 15-40% higher than other good Chinese restaurants in my area. Trying to live on a limited and fixed income (I'm retired) makes food delivery a luxury, so ordering from The Wok I consider extreme splurging. I'll have to limit myself to ordering once a month or less frequently. read more
