Each of my kids ordered an adult sized hamburger and an adult sized hot dog plus we bought the fries which are extra and expensive.. (Way over priced 6.75 for each item for an over cooked and mediocre, plus we asked them not to grill the buns, they did..) But we were cool with it, whatever. I'm not the one to be jumpy to complain because i have worked in restaurants myself. But then we go up to the counter to get my children free ice cream, the girl gave it to us and then said that they actually were in fact not free, because they didn't order the kids hot dog meal.. There's nothing wrong with this sausagefest. We popped in during our mini vacation after finding Wurst right here on Yelp. I was super excited--I'm all about brats, andouilles, chorizos, and all manner of meat-in-casing situations. I opted for a Detroit Polish with peppers and onions. The peppers were just softened up without losing any flavor or turning into mush and the onions were dark brown deliciousness. I was glad they let a nice char develop on my dog, it's crispy, snappy, meaty goodness was on point. Came in for dinner and noticed the online menu is different than the menu at the restaurant. We tried calling before we came and the lady on the phone was extremely rude and not very educated on the menu and ingredients used. We enjoyed our conversation w/ Charles Bell and he even stopped by our table and asked how we liked everything and thanked us for stopping in. They have a bit of variety of sausages which is great but delivery was meh on an average seeded bun which was too thick taking away whatever flavor was in the sausage . We came for the Wurst and we got the worst. $48 to feed 2 kids and myself, I won't do this again. Here's why: the BLT salad had BAC-O-BITS on it, and no real bacon. It was drowning in dressing to the point of leaves just wilting away. The best thing about that salad were the onion rings, and the (minimal) avocados that they put on it. The garlic fries had good flavor, but the fries themselves are just plain terrible: mealy, and not crisp. I had the provincial pig sausage, if it had any flavor there was too much spice to actually find the flavor. The sauerkraut that I asked for as a topping just wasn't enough - there was barely any on there. The best thing I can say about that is the bun, & that's actually saying something because I don't like hamburger or hotdog buns, but this sesame bun was really quite nice. For $5, you get a hot dog or a burger, fries, a drink (milk or soda in a cute cup you can take with you) and a scoop of ice cream (choc, van, or straw). Now THAT'S pretty sweet! My dog was served on a really delicious bun, toasted to perfection. The snap of the casing is always key for me, and it was there. I didn't need the onion rings but ate them separately. As always, I could ALWAYS use more sauerkraut and tart stuff on my dog, so I tried several other condiments (curry ketchup, spicy brown mustard, etc). The burger was cooked to perfection but my husband noticed one major flavor was lacking.... SALT. It was hard to find salt in the restaurant. It appears they only have a few containers of S&P dispersed around the place. Everything else about it was quite good... juicy, tasty local grassfed meat, bacon, and I think onion rings. We ordered a basket of hand-cut fries that were freaking DELICIOUS. Skin on, soft, and PERFECT for soaking up some malt vinegar. A basket of fries comes with 1 free dipping sauce - various flavors that I can't remember now, but we got the Maytag blue cheese. It was pretty watered down, and tasted more like sour cream, but it was still good. It's a pretty nice place to sit and people watch. I honestly wish they did not opt for the style of seating they did... the tall tables are bar stool height (strike 1), but the shorter ones are just tall enough so that your feet dangle while you eat (unless you're over 6' tall (strike 2)), and I can't stand my feet to dangle while i eat. Green Bay Brat is good, Bad Dog is not. The Bad Dog Brat had chunks of gristle and the skin was thick and chewy (it was also 2/3 the size of the Green Bay, for the same price). Garlic fries were greasy and covered in a wet garlic mush that made them soggy. They have a bunch of different mustards, ketchups, and relishes on a table by the front for you to flavor your food with. Honestly, this was my favorite part of the meal. Takes a while to get food, waited around half an hour for two Brats and an order of garlic fries during a week day lunch (and the place wasn't that busy). Wait staff was friendly, just a really slow kitchen. Great outdoor seating area that is dog friendly. The outdoor tables aren't jam packed together so it was easy for us to keep our baby stroller across from us while we ate. I did not go to the restaurant but had the food at the Sonoma Gravenstein Apple Fair, which is where they had a booth. I had the Detroit Polish and a burger. This is a foodies' polish and burger. The meat tastes great, the bread is crispy from the grill and there are about eight types of mustard. The meat is grilled right in front of you.
