I haven't had Indian food anywhere else since my first visit here. Every dish so far has been delicious. The biriyani is so so good! I don't normally like lamb, it's too gamey for my taste. But here I prefer the lamb over chicken and don't get me wrong the chicken is delicious, but I highly recommend the lamb biriyani. The food is 10/10. The presentation is nice but is lacking a little. I can tell they're trying to make a fine dining experience, but there is something awkward about it all. The price is a little high but like I said the food is quite delicious! The staff are all very nice, and try hard but they miss a lot. The wait is long, even when there aren't many others seated. The water is at room temperature and isn't refilled in a timely manner. You'll need a lot of water when eating this food! It's pretty spicy and filled with sodium. A tall ice water is so necessary. We've had very good experience when James is waiting. He's on top of everything and is very professional. So if you get him, you're in good hands! He makes great recommendations as well. All in all, I highly recommend giving this place a go. And I almost forgot to tell you about the best item of all... the Gulab Jamun. It's heavenly! I've had it in other places in the past and declared that I hated it. They're normally small and dense. Poor service, rude staff at the front desk. 18% gratuity automatically added for a table over six people. With their fairly mediocre overpriced $28 entrées you will be paying about $100 to tip for less than average service. They do not allow strollers, if you have small kids, please avoid the place at all cost . The bus boy at the front desk took vindictive pleasure in making us take our sleeping kids out of the stroller, even though the restaurant was completely empty. Food quality is similar to any of the good bay area restaurants. This seems to be a franchise and there is absolutely no involvement by the team of Sanjeev Kapoor to result in such poor hospitality and management. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of the food. However, I can safely state that it was very very good! We ordered the Puran Singh da Tariwala Murgh curry and butter chicken. We also got the bread basket which included the laccha paratha, garlic naan and the peshwari naan. Everything was delicious but that dhaba chicken curry took me back home to the dhabas! The butter chicken felt very plain in comparison. Among the breads, I enjoyed all 3 equally. I would've liked more garlic on the garlic naan, but I felt like I always complain about not having enough garlic on a garlic naan. Lots of parking available right in front. Every time I pass by this restaurant is packed, I finally gave it a try today. I regret not coming sooner. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. The food is flavorful and fresh. One of my favorite places to go to with my family. It is a bit expensive and the portions are small, but this restaurant is targeted as high end restaurant. Our favorite is the Tandoori Sea Bass, it's buttery soft and so delectable. They only give 5 pieces as part of the appetizer but i haven't found a similar dish in other restaurants. We also like the Murgh Survedaar curry and Adraki Dhaniya Paneer curry. I would skip the Biriyani, because the curries here are so much better. I thought the Murgh Noormahal Biriyani was average. Very crowded for a weekend evening. Probably the favorite for corporate lunches and dinners, this place is a well known modern Indian restaurant in Santa Clara. Decent ambience, again could've been much better for a so called fine dine. Teh service was pretty quick for the crowd they had. We started with desi man how soup - 4.5/5 - It actually tasted like it did in India. It was really good and the pricing was decent as well. Starter veg platter - 2.5/5 - a huge disappointment for me. The panneer was not well cooked not seasoned. The spring rolls were surely frozen ones. The filling wasn't tasty either. The other parties were some random deep fried stuff. The stuffing wasn't distinct and we couldn't understand what it was. They could've made it much much better with the Indian options at play. Aloo Bhakra kofta curry- 4/5 - the gravy was rich. It was sweet and appealing to the audience here. The kofta was different from the normal kofta we have at home. Overall a good dish. The quantity is actually sufficient for two. Bread basket - 4/5 - very good quantity. It's actually a little more than what we expected. They had all different types of naan including peshwari naan, garlic naan etc. the naan is super crispy and perfectly cooked. I was able to eat despite knowing its unhealthy. I checked in on Yelp and was able to get a nahi thukda for free. I did not like it. But it wasn't too sweet and was apt for my taste buds. One of the worst north Indian restaurant I have been to, they did not get even the bread right which was dry as hell, as if a frozen one was heated several times. This I did not expected from renowned chef's restaurant. We had ordered mixed veg platter, Shaam Savera, Bread basket, Pyaash Mirchi Ki Roti. Veg platter Chanajor garam was the only decent enough, in fact it was the best of all we ate there. It does not mean it was great tasting, it was palatable. Shaam Savera it was picture perfect. It tasted like tomato puree mixed with some sugar and little spices may be. Bread basket already described above. Pyaaz Mirchi....ha I found one mirchi piece with raw onions, hated it. This Indian restaurant is not for Indians, may be for people who start sweating and crying after seeing chilli in the display, may like it. We had a lovely dinner at the Yellow Chilli with two other couples. The waiters were attentive but not intrusive. The restruant is comfortable. There are booths and tables. The ceilings are high so it is noisy and can be hard to hear. We shared several dishes. The butter chicken was tender and creamy. The spinach was tasty with chunks of cheese. Amazing place and food ! We hosted baby shower here. Initially I was bit hesitant to celebrate an intimate event within the restaurant. But we couldn't have asked for more. It was a great choice. Food was amazing. Manager Vishnu and staff were very courteous and helpful throughout. We were given one portion of the restaurant to host the event. They also had an Indian whisky which is unique. All the food was delicious.
