The two times I've been here, the food has been good. I attempted to go there last Thursday for a third time at 7:30pm to grab a sandwich to go. Google and Yelp said they closed at 8pm. I get there and the doors were locked (closed sign) and the employees were cleaning up. I get it, people want to go home etc. However, if you're advertising that the business closes at 8pm, then it should close at 8pm or announce online somewhere that they will be closing early for the day. We came here 30 minutes before closing, so one of the available flavors were already sold out. You have the option of customizing your own frozen custard with each topping being an extra 75 cents each or choosing a pre-curated mix and just choosing the custard base. I got the Stefanovich with vanilla frozen custard base. It comes with butterscotch and crushed Heath bars. Loved that this was distributed throughout my custard instead of only just piled at the top! Great local spot to come for dessert! They've got classic vanilla and chocolate, and a seasonal flavor; and plenty of toppings that you can customize to your liking. We got two small sundaes, and were more than satisfied with the portions and the quality! I got vanilla topped with butterscotch, macadamia nuts, and crushed up Oreos. In my opinion, however, they are the highlight of the establishment. If you've never tried frozen custard, you really are in for a delightful treat! It's smooth, creamy and has texture that's similar to and yet unlike ice cream or frozen yogurt. Usually they have vanilla and chocolate frozen custard, but sometimes feature speciality flavors as well. The major highlight here is they have a number of specially crafted sundaes and other creations made from this deliciousness; and many of them are named for famous Redlands landmarks, high schools, etc, so it adds a whole new meaning to the term "local flavor". I have to admit...one of my guilty pleasures is to sneak across the street to here after I get my haircut at Wilson's Classic Barbershop and ask for an Orange Fanta Float. It's so unique and delicious. The place is located across from Wilson's and the Fox Theater on the periphery of downtown Redlands. Theron's Frozen Custard is richer than ice cream. To qualify as frozen custard it is required to have a higher egg yolk percentage than ice cream - you can taste the difference. When we were there, Theron's only had two flavors; chocolate and vanilla. But they did the 2 flavors well: rich, creamy and flavorful. While lacking in frozen custard flavor variety, they made up with topping choices and portion size. This afternoon of 105+ degree heat we had the Blackhawk Bash and the Stefanovich. As you can see in my pics, they layer the addins throughout the sundae. Also, somehow, they fill the top of the cup cone with frozen custard - a very ample portion. The Blackhawk Bash had vanilla frozen custard (you can choose chocolate) with Oreos and hot caramel. The hot caramel wasn't so hot that it melted the frozen custard. This combo was rich and sweet. It packs a sugar rush. The Stefanovich had chocolate frozen custard with butterscotch and heath bar crumbles. The combo was also very rich and sweet. The heath bar crumbles added a nice crunch. On our next trip, we'll opt for smaller portions and order frozen custard by the cup. And for $.75 per addin, we'll make our own creation. They have 6 family style indoor tables. We enjoyed their air conditioning while watching the pedestrian traffic across the street. read more

I've been interested in trying this place out for a while now and just recently made my way over. From what I've heard, they just recently moved to a it's current location closer to Downtown Redlands. It's pretty interesting. It seems they bought out a space with a lot of different stalls which I'm guessing is supposed to occupied by other food places or vendors. Currently it's just the Frozen Custard and Theron's sandwiches, so it's pretty empty at the moment. It's also very echoey so sound definitely carries. Kinda awkward, but that's alright. They're trying to grow and that's cool. We were the only ones there when I visited, so the service was pretty fast. So I tried one of their Sundaes, the Terrier Treat, which had their vanilla custard, peanut butter cups and bananas. It was good. I'm always a fan of peanut butter cups. I've heard that custard is supposed to be like creamier and/or richer. I'm not sure I got that from this Sundae, but it was pretty hot and it was starting to melt quickly. It's hard to judge, maybe that significantly affected its consistency. Flavor was good though. I also tried some of my friend's Theron's Original which was also pretty decent. So if you want BBQ, make sure you go early! Choose a plate and you get all three meats (chicken, pork and beef). My fave is the pork. If you just want one meat, then choose the bowl option. The base consisted of ice with a orange-pineapple syrup (think cactus cooler), topped with fresh pineapple and a hupai foam! This was super delicious and perfect for a hot day. The custard is so creamy, thick, so rich and delicious it is an absolute must if you go to Theron's. We definitely will be trying their signature frozen custard sundaes. My first visit, I had the Romi G sandwich and a medium custard. The sandwich was quite good, four different cheeses, tomato, and basil on sourdough bread, grilled. I was very disappointed with the custard, though. I don't know, maybe it was a bad batch but it was very thin, actually runny, and flavorless. I have had custard from many different restaurants and custard shops and it has always been thick and creamy. Theron's own website says that custard is thicker than ice cream, but this was so runny it looked like melted ice cream. As soon as the employee handed it to me I thought it looked thin and melted but she didn't seem to think anything about it do I figured that was the way custard was here. Service was slow, took quite awhile to get my sandwich and custard even though I was the only customer present. Probably won't return. There are other places to get good sandwiches and definitely better places to get custard. read more

This place has been around for quite a while but has recently relocated. I really like the new location. The service was great and so was the food! I ordered the Wildcat Crunch Small Sundae which comes with your choice of vanilla or chocolate custard with raspberry sauce and macadamia nuts. It was so delicious! I would totally order it again!! I am so glad they had a small size! At first, I thought the sundaes only came in the larger size and that is too big for me personally. I'm also excited that all of their sandwiches can be made vegetarian. I ordered the Ben Barton without Turkey and it was amazing!!! The sourdough bread was so good I'm still thinking about it. The only thing was that the mustard was just a little heavy because I couldn't taste the dill mayo. However, this sandwich is still a new favorite. I'm definitely coming back! read more

This place is very well hidden, if you werent paying attention you would've really miss it lol, if it wasnt for the sign they have out there. but yeh this place is right next to children's playhouse. which is pretty small. they dont really have a lot of parking in the front but i'm sure they have some more in the back, bec. it is a playhouse after all. i ordered the Zack attack, which contains hot fudge, butterscotch and pecans, with a choice of vanilla or chocolate. their add-ins are (i think) $.75 cents extra) but if you mention that you dont like or allergic to pecans and replace it to their add-ins, they wont charge you. i was being polite bec. i didnt want to be picky but i really dont like pecans on my ice cream so you just have to be honest and say it, the lady was pretty cool about it, but she almost got confused. also the menu does say Regular or Large, but you can also say you like it small so she wont charge you what it says on the menu. other than that, they have a nice outdoor seats, that has a nice view in the back. i'll probably come back here again to try out their sandwiches. read more

Place was completely empty when we went in, ordered some food, got the ice cream, then waited 45 minutes just to end up leaving without food. I asked the woman at the counter twice, as the 4 employees there were not doing anything but talking and walking around, if they actually received the food order. I got the response, verbatim, "Yeah, I mean they're probably making it soon." Didn't think to check, didn't think to ask, didn't do anything. Another 20 minutes pass, another family came in, got their food in 5 mins. Asked again, another family came in, got their food, so we left with just the ice cream. Waste of money and time.
