Thinking Cup is a charmer. When you peek in from Tremont it looks dark but what it is, actually, is extremely cozy. I've been a handful of times. My favorite is the blueberry cornmeal cake, a round muffin-like treat with moist and subtly flavored cake, and fresh blueberries. Second would be the Morning Glory muffin. I've had one of their breakfast sandwiches which was piping hot and flavorful though not with spectacular ingredients (go to Patty and Mike's for your breakfast sandwich needs). Reminds me of the cute cafes you see on sitcoms. Not sure if this place is an east coast staple but all the food looked delicious, personally my food was delicious. Make sure you get your pastries warmed up! Game changer! If you're on the go, the service is quick! If you don't want to sit in the cafe and enjoy a stroll with your coffee, the Boston commons is right across the street. Cute cafe with decent pricing and solid, quick service. I wish I could have tried all the pastries but the berry pastry in the photo I posted was soooooooo good (again, warm it up!). Cutest cafe! Weather you want to meet up with some friends, study, or have a quick bite to eat before walking around the town this place is perfect. To eat/drink we had the following: Cappuccino: loved the design she made. Was a smooth drink and did not need any additions to it. Chai Latte: Got a large. The chai was spicy and hot - the foam on top was perfect. I sprinkled some cinnamon on top and it brought it all together. It does have a hint of sweetness to it but did not need anything additional to it. Breakfast sandwich: sausage egg & cheese on an English muffin. I did not choose the cheese but I'm guessing it's Swiss possibly. Don't know if the holes are because it's Swiss or it melted from the heat of the eggs. Would recommend to visit. Thinking cup is a delightful place to spend an afternoon. The ambiance is cozy, and the crowd that visits here tends to be quiet but plentiful. The line can certainly build up, but the staff is helpful and affable. The last time I was here I had a cup of earl grey tea. I appreciate that they serve the tea in a teapot so that I don't have to refill the pot with more hot water as I would a lone mug. I also got one of their grilled cheese sandwiches, which was well cooked and flavorful. That being said, my main gripe about Thinking cup is its lack of power outlets. I often come here to enjoy a space outside of my home while I work, and that means I need a power source for my computer. I've been able to find literally one in the entire shop, and it's not at all conveniently located. I would love to see this change so that Thinking Cup can become one of my regular work spots. As it stands, the food and service are excellent, but it's not the most convenient place for me to spend my time. read more

The seating at this location is very warm and cozy with great lighting if you choose stay a while which you should. The food/pastries are mid besides a Nutella croissant I had ages ago, but the hot cappuccinos are delightful and come in beautiful ceramic mugs with pretty latte art! The blueberry corn cake alone is worth a visit. I've eaten a lot of pastries in my life and this was one of the best I've ever had. The breakfast burrito is solid as well. I got the chorizo with it and it's worth noting the chorizo is sliced like on a charcuterie board rather than the sausage form you would expect in a burrito. There were also had lots of gluten free baked goods and all their sandwiches can be made with gluten free bread. It had a very cozy vibe inside. Tight seating quarters though. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and did not taste any notes of vanilla in my drink unfortunately. I added a little bit of simple syrup that they have on the side and it made it a little better. I love the Thinking Cup! I've walked past it many times but I finally had a reason to stop in and check it out. They have a very comfortable, old school ambience and have great Stumptown coffee. The iced Chai latte I got was a little watery but I'll try another choice next time. I like this location even though it gets busy because it's close to a lot of fun things around here. Maybe it's even busier than the Newbury location is but not by a lot. This is in a location that's very popular with locals and tourists. Having such a prime location across from Boston Common makes it mostly a spot for chilling out. They usually are very busy in the morning but it still seems like such a relaxed atmosphere, maybe it's the coffee smell that makes people relaxed. Coffee is the main thing of course. It's $2 for a regular drip. They have several non dairy milks. Bagels are among the food. It's $3 and comes with a choice of cream cheese and jelly. There's also some fluffy muffins. Buckle up for too many details! INGREDIENTS: I tend to gravitate towards the vegetarian option on a sandwich menu and this one called out to me immediately. On paper, the combo of red pepper hummus, goat cheese, artichoke hearts, olives, tomato, and roasted mushrooms sounded fantastic. But the tomato didn't add much taste (also, I maintain that East Coast tomatoes are crap and taste like plastic, especially raw), there were too many olives, and not enough goat cheese. My favorite components were the roasted mushrooms. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY: This was a messy sandwich to eat. Every bite I took, something plopped out of the side. Mistakenly, I assumed the sandwich would be pressed, so the cheese could melt a little and bind onto the looser ingredients, but this was cold and the multigrain bread was a few days on the stale side. I didnt realize how many locations this shop has when I was looking for my morning coffee shop location but this one was closest to my hotel. We came here a few days before the pandemic restaurant shutdown order. It was a cold night.
