Heard this place just opened up in the neighborhood and it was a cool rainy day what better way to get some ramen ? Walking in it's a decent size place has 3 medium sized tables in the front and the rest are in the back, with a open kitchen so you can see the chefs cooking everything along side at the bar as well. Ordered a decent amount of appetizers such as gyoza, bao buns, and rock shrimp. Gyoza was good, nothing really wowed me, but it was good. Rock shrimp had some good heat to it which I liked, usually some rock shrimp just taste like mayo, but this had some heat which isn't bad. Bao buns, this wasn't anything special, so I wouldn't go out of my way for it. I don't particularly like anything extra in a pork bao, so that lettuce and tomato was not needed. Main course decided to go the Miso Ramen. This really filled me up. Everything about it just felt very rich and had a strong umami flavor to it. This is not a bad thing at all, I really enjoyed the bowl. Had the typical toppings such as corn, green onions, fish cake, A soy sauce dipped hard boiled egg, and two slices of pork. The owners are really nice people and enjoy doing what they do. Definitely try to give this place a try, I am coming back as soon as I can. read more

Review based on a simple takeout order not on quality of the ramen. Will update if reviewed. The establishment when you walk in resembles a typical ramen bar without the decked out wooden decor. It offers humble seating and lots options for singles, two tops, and tables for four. The open kitchen offers guests to see how the meal is prepared. However this was the make or break moment. I eagerly watched the preparation of my food and was disappointed in two aspects. One the employees were not all wearing gloves but touching my food. I was not impressed by this, however noticed that the udon noodles in the Yaki udon were breaking apart in the pan. For the price and size of shrimp I think I could have receive more than the 7 the chef counted out to put into the dish. The Bao Buns (title is redundant as the word Bao means bun) were being prepared by another person in the kitchen. While meticulous in his approach, only had one glove on and repeatedly touch the Bao as he added the manicured iceberg lettuce, slice of tomato, and mayo on top of the braised pork belly. For $6 you get two pork belly BLTs and I couldn't really taste any flavor on the pork. But it was okay for what it was. I am concerned about the lack of care in a place that's just starting up. I have hopes that they will improve, as for now there are much better options for ramen that deliver to Woodside. read more

Love this local ramen establishment!! More than happy to support a ramen store that is much needed in an area that is surrounded by Latin American cuisine. And especially so knowing that it's a family business run by a Korean family. The Korean and Japanese influence can be seen most evidently by the way they cook their pork belly slices. Personally, I much prefer the thicker, braised cuts that Three Bowls provides over the usual thin-sliced meats in typical Japanese ramen -- think of the Korean dish "bossam." I don't know if I can ever go back to the traditionally thinner slices after being so accustomed to Three Bowl's, it's just so much better in every way. If there is one thing to fault, some menu items are definitely overpriced (ex. takoyaki) but I do believe ramen is fairly priced given all the add-ons (the only other non-specialized stores that sell ramen do not give as many toppings). My personal fave is the spicy miso and is exactly what I crave on a chilly day/evening. Please support this wonderfully unique local restaurant. I've been to this place twice and I can say that their ramen didn't disappoint. For appetizer we got some takoyaki and its soft and delicious. For ramen I ordered the kimchi ramen expecting it might be sour or I might not like it but I just want to give it a try and I'm glad I stick in ordering it. Its really good. It has a little bit of spicy and the pork broth taste perfect with all the flavors from the kimchi. My husband got the tantan ramenin our first visit and he like it but the only thing is it has only ground pork and no slice meat but the broth is good and in our second visit he got the shoyu ramen that he really enjoyed. Taste perfect that he finished everything. The bowl size is big and good for 1 person. The place is clean and simple. Servers and staff are friendly and fast. The food was very good, although I'm sure it tasted differently as a takeout order (in these perilous times) as it might have as a sit-down order. As the Tonkotsu ramen soup had cooled slightly on our way home from the restaurant, it tasted just a bit more of pork fat / pungent than I might have liked. The kimchi ramen tasted pungent in its own right, obviously for very different reasons (it's a spicy soup). But the takoyaki tasted really excellent, I'd have to say, and it was worth going out of my way and taking the trip here. This is a great place to come when you're craving ramen in Queens, but aren't necessarily looking for anything "authentically" Japanese (probably highly unlikely to achieve, outside of Japan itself). read more

Really enjoyed the meal I had here last week. Got seated right away and ordered the poke bowl appetizer, then the karage udon for the main dish. I loved the poke: it tasted fresh, and the fish balanced well with the vegetable crunch and the sauce. I absolutely cleared my bowl! The karage (fried chicken) udon came very quickly after, before I was even done my appetizer. Broth had a good flavor, and even though the chicken was immersed in it, I still got the flavor from the coating. I tend to like my fried chicken crispy, which would have been impossible with this dish, so in future, I'd probably try a different protein. The udon noodles were delicious and soft, and the mushrooms and bok choy in the dish were very flavorful as well. My one complaint was once I was clearly finished eating, it took a good 5-10 minutes before someone came to clear my plates, despite numerous people walking by and seeing that I was done and the restaurant not being very busy. They never asked any follow-ups, how the meal was, if I wanted anything else. I was considering getting the mochi ice cream to finish, but by the time my server came back, she just handed me the check so it felt weird to ask at that point. No complaints about the food and am keen to try other things on the menu, but would like to see better communication between servers/patrons when I go in the future. Pleasantly surprised! Full disclosure: we hesitated a lot before trying this place. Sure, it has good reviews but the standards for any new to the hood restaurant are pretty lax. Other than a few Thai and south American restaurants, we've consistently been burned when trying every other new spot in or near Jackson Heights. The decor is pretty lackluster, the menu is all over the place and the restaurant is manned by non-Japanese people (I'm not one to chase authenticity but this city is also filled with mediocre to subpar Japanese restaurants run by non-Japanese people). In any case, we finally made it over as I had strong cravings for udon and didn't feel like trekking out to the city. We ordered a karaage udon (pretty weird concept) and a chicken katsu. The Good: The fried chicken in both dishes were really well done - not over-fried or dry (way better than some of the other sushi places in Jackson Heights that serve katsu). The udon broth was light and balanced - by no means the best udon in NY but it definitely does the trick. The prices were way reasonable. The Bad: the udon noodles were of middling quality (not enough bounce and they're the skinny udon). The rice for the katsu was too soft and mushy (probably too wet). In sum, if you're in the neighborhood and craving quick and easy katsu/udon, I'd definitely give this place a go and not shy away from the lackluster appearance. Went here after an airport pickup based on reviews. This is our favorite kind of restaurant--small, family-owned, informal, outstandingly good food. Had the bulgogi tacos which are exceptional: savory, great spicing, a perfect Korean flavor balanced with cilantro and queso...could've stopped there but thankfully I did not! I had udon with chicken; the broth was perfectly balanced and robust; the chicken tender and flavorful. I only wish there was another piece of bok choy, but that was minor. My wife had the mapo tofu ramen which was pleasantly spicy, thick and rich and delicious. Service was attentive -- I felt like I was in someone's kitchen, in the best sense. The chicken karage was juicy and flavorful. The vegetable accompaniment made a nice addition. The udon was not as thick, but holds a nice consistency and chewiness. I haven't been to this place in so long but it used to be a regular spot. Their ramen is delicious and the service is highly attentive and personable. Bao bun, gyoza and karage are all excellent appetizer choices but my go to ramen dish the curry ramen. It has a nice kick but not too spicy and the corn and egg accentuate the flavor. I'm still excited to get back here and try the bulgogi tacos and miso ramen. This place takes pride in their craft so I fully believe everything is good. The chicken karage was the best I've ever had they use juicy white meat and the crust was amazingly tasty. Make sure to ask for their homemade hot sauce! We tried the Ramen (pork with chicken broth) and a grilled chicken dish. For the two items our bill was $27 and change. For a very small shop with smaller-than-most serving sizes, the prices were too high. The Ramen was ok, though only half an egg was included and the bok choy was a huge, unmanageable chunk. The grilled chicken was a tiny portion, more of a lunch special size at full price with some rice and a very wilted salad. For comparison, Matsuri Japanese in the neighborhood offers pork Ramen for a dollar less, includes the whole egg and a crispy piece of seaweed, and that place is more upscale. The customer service was nice. I was excited to have a new ramen place open nearby, but the food wasn't anything spectacular for the price/size. I really want to give this 3 and a half stars not 4. Heres why. Ordered with a few friends about 5 of us. The delivery wasnt too bad. The food was ok, it wasnt the best. The ramen was ok. I had the soy based one with the pork belly. The pork belly was just fat, with a hint of meat. The meat didnt have flavor. The soy broth was actually bland and boring. It didn't bring any excitement to my palette. The Gyoza was actually very good however and had a good sauce to dip it in. My friends each had a different ramen, and they all had similar sentiments about the ramen. The food is fresh and the packaging for delivery was extremely well done. Flavor wise, not so much. Came for pick up and they hadn't even started yet by the time I arrived 20 mins later. Had the pleasure of watching them make it. They use the cheapest materials to make the food: ramen cut out of a plastic bag, frozen pork heated up, and the grilled chicken pieces they use are those from a bag from Costco you can buy that are pre-cooked and just need to be heated up. Probably costs them 50 cents to make. I got the Shoyu which tastes extremely bland. Very generic with no richness at all. The Miso did taste good, however. Prices are way overpriced but everything is in NYC to feed their welfare system. Overall, I do not recommend. read more
