I have travelled to India many times, and when Thumka Indian Express opened, I was dubious. I took a chance last night and did not regret it. I had samosas to start, followed by lamb curry, and at the suggestion of the proprieter, some garlic naan bread to go with it. The food was fabulous. I asked for a mild version of the curry and it was spot on. The lamb was tender and without any fat. The sauce was thick and rich without being too spicy, and the garlic naan was light, buttery, and garlicky enough without being overwhelming. I will definitely be going back. read more

Woahhh. I just dont have enough words to express the out of the world Indian food that I have tasted here in Algonquin. After residing in USA for over 19 years, my taste buds haven't been impressed as much as July 27th, 2020. I was vacationing in Algonquin to visit my friends and family, and was craving for Indian food after a week. So I asked all my relatives and friends. Majority of them recommended me to order from Thumka Indian Express. Considering their word of mouth, I decided to order a Dal Makhni, Butter Chicken and a Chicken Biryani; especially after a hardcore workout I was famished and couldn't wait to hog on this delicious food. Nevertheless, my family and friends didnt fail to impress me. They were bang on right about the mouthwatering food. The rich flavor that can feel heavy in the mouth of the cream in the Dal Makhni simply took me back to the land of five rivers (Punjab) in India. The texture of spicy chicken biryani with a loose tender structure that falls apart into small pieces as I chewed on them was simply astonishing. I wish I could still order the butter chicken with garlic naan all the way to North Carolina, now that I am back here. If you ever land a chance to visit Algonquin, then please dont miss out of this great chef's magical taste. read more

This was my first time, it was AWESOME! So happy to have Indian food so close and available. I had the chicken tikka masala, highly recommended. The amount of spice was perfect and don't forget the naan to soak up all the tasty sauce. The portions are great I got 2 meals out of it. Will definitely go back. read more

So good! And also so expensive.. everything is excellent. Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Vindaloo are our favorites. The garlic naan is great. Everything is great! I really hope this restaurant can make it. Would love to see a lunch buffet. We've needed Indian food out here for years. Our family can eat a meal of Mexican food for $25 and a meal of Thai for $25-30 but we pay $50 here. The extra expense for rice an naan adds up and the portions aren't big. It's still worth it. My husband and I love Indian food so we were excited to hear about this new place that opened. We ate there recently and ordered our favorites: chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and garlic naan - all were super delicious! The chicken was good quality and the sauce was so flavorful. We had so much sauce leftover we bought chicken breasts from the store to cook and use with our leftover sauce. The garlic naan was so fresh and tasty. We will most definitely be back and are excited to try some of their other menu items. read more

Food is good, not great but with not many options in the area it's nice to have them here. Prices are a little high as the entrees do not include rice or bread, you essentially get 6oz of protein with a sauce, and anything more is additional. Only other comment was that the second time we went to pick up our food the owner/manager was wearing flip-flops in the kitchen, not the most health code appropriate. read more

Fantastic food! Great flavor and spices - we loved it! Lovely pakodos, we also had lamb kadai and dal makhani and the lamb was so good and tender, and both had great flavor! This is a great place to stop by for lunch or to get take out. My husband and I love Indian food and were delighted to see this place open in Algonquin. There is no lunch buffet, as this place is definitely geared towards take out. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. Food tastes great! So far we have tried the mutter paneer, saag paneer, chicken muglai, samosas, garlic naan, and chili chicken. Everything tastes great, but my personal favorites are the chicken muglai and garlic naan. I definitely recommend checking it out! read more

I went to this place and ordered a takeout. I ordered Chicken Biryani and it's a sizable amount but it didn't taste the same as most Indian recipe that I had, such as from Gay Lord oe others. I would not order the same again. I might try the other recipes, but I was thinking it may not be good either. I guess you get what you paid for. read more
