While visiting our daughter who recently moved to that area we ordered from Tian Fu and it was amazing! The House Lo Mein was great with fresh shrimp as well as the all breast chicken General Tso's. We also ordered Crab Rangoons and Hot & Sour Soup. Loved the reusable bag our food came in and packaging was wonderful with super portions of each item we ordered. Outstanding new addition to Indy's Eastside. Ordered carry out, and ordered it online through their website. Everything was delicious! Had the Mongolian Chicken, Spring Rolls, and Hot 'N Sour Soup. The soup was EXCEPTIONAL!! It alone is enough to ensure my quick return. My wife picked up the order, and noted that the decor of the re-purposed Bob Evans is very chic. Went to Tian Fu for the second time, really enjoyed the dinner. It was a chilly night so I think folks were staying in. Overall a decent crowd considering. I had the Hot Saki and hubby had a Sapporo. We tried the Hawaiian & Hot Mamma sushi rolls and both were fresh and tasty. We shared the Japaneses seafood udon noodles and crab rangoon for the appetizer. The noodles were decent but I preferred the crab rangoon. The service was fast and they have an autonomous cat that delivers your food. It is cool and cutting edge! We have been here twice now and have been pleased both times. It is a nice, sit-down restaurant rather than the usual carry-out style. They have a robot bring your food out. Gimmicky, but the kids would enjoy it. All the food we have had has been fine. Not spectacular, but certainly good. I am sure we will be back. read more

This is my second attempt with tian fu, once at each location. This was a take out order. Had meh experiences twice now. I don't know if it was an off night or what, but everything all together make for a disappointing experience. Crab ragoons had a weird burnt like taste, the fried rice tasted like old peanut oil. General Tso's was completely sweet, no spice at all almost completely breading not much chicken. The restaurant looked nice, and seemed clean, but we did take out like I said. Lastly the one thing that really grinds my gears. The host had the audacity to add a tip without asking, didn't explain, or didn't say he was going to do it. Funny thing is I generally still tip for takeout, but not a fan of people making decisions for me. That is the part that tells me I'll never be back. The first two times we ate here (always takeout) were really good. The different foods we tried those first two times were Kung pao chicken, tian fu tofu, beef yakitori, sesame chicken. The third time we got takeout, I thought, why mess with a good thing and ordered the beef takitori and the sesame chicken. My husband got the Kung Pao chicken and crab rangoons. My husbands food was as good as always. However, the beef yakitori was weirdly spongy (it wasn't like this the first time) and the sesame chicken was gooey on the outside and so hard and stringy on the inside that many of the pieces were just inedible. I'm hoping this is just a bad day/moment for them and that the next time we give them a try I can up the stars, but for now three is as good as I think the food overall deserves. read more

I lived on the northwest side of Indianapolis the first four years I was in this town, and Tian Fu was by far the best chinese spot I had been to in Indianapolis. I was beside myself with excitement when I heard they were moving onto the eastside. The hot and sour soup didn't seem as good as it used to be, but it was still good. The flavor of the Yakitori was fantastic! I could eat that for days. I had never tried katsu, so when I saw it on their (incredibly extensive) menu, I decided to give it a try. The katsu came with rice and a salad with ginger dressing. The ginger dressing tasted more like lemon (thus furniture polish) than it did ginger, so after a few bites I gave up. The tonkatsu was phenomenal. It was delicate yet pleasantly crunchy at the same time, with a sauce that complimented it quite well. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his playboy roll (sushi) as well. The restaurant does also serve beer and wine, so we enjoyed adult beverages with our dinner. Unfortunately, I had an allergice reaction to something there, it's usually a preservative used to make citrus products shelf-stable, so I assume it was the ginger dressing but I'm not entirely sure. I will likely not go back simply because I can't be sure what it was that set my allergy off, however, the food is as good as I was hoping. read more

I love ordering takeout from Tian Fu! I love the variety of cuisines on the menu, so it's perfect for someone who may like sushi paired with someone who enjoys Thai food. I often get the steamed dumplings, which are incredibly consistent, and the sushi! I'm interested to try dining in there as well read more

The service was horrible. Out of 3 orders only 1 was received. The other 2 were said to be lost. The one order received came 20 minutes before the appetizer. An additional 20 minutes was in waiting for the other meal, which we were then told it was lost, as well as the third meal. We paid for the first meal received and appetizer and left. I liked this restaurant. The location I went to used to be a Bob Evans restaurant that closed. A lot of the same booths and tables remain but lots of decorations have been changed/updated. The menu had many options for lunch specials, including appetizers and soups. There is a sushi chef but I don't eat sushi. Therefore I cannot comment on this food choice. The service was outstanding, the server being very attentive. I also found the prices very fair for the lunch specials. I'm sure I will go back. read more

Phenomenal. Grabbed carry out, we ordered cashew chicken, orange chicken, hot and sour soup and an order of crab rangoon. I moved to Indy 20 years ago and have not found a comparable Chinese restaurant. This reminds me of home. Delicious, deep rich flavors, beautiful color, vegetables perfectly cooked, not brown and soggy like so many others. Will definitely be going back for a table inside. Enjoyed a tasty lunch but they forgot my soup my first time in. 2nd time I made sure to get the egg drop soup and it was one of the best egg drop versions I've ever had! The inside of the restaurant looks completely remodeled and has a new look and feel to it. The service is very good and the lunch specials are reasonable and both times I've tried different lunches and both times I thought they very good. I have not tried the sushi bar yet but I will try it next time I visit. I haven't been in for dinner yet so I can't comment on the portion size for dinner prices or quality of the dinners. I loved this restaurant, and my kids were entertained by the robot cat that brought out the food. Unfortunately, I then witnessed an employee using the restroom at the same time as me. He defecated and left without washing his hands, leaving the restroom as I was leaving the restroom. I watched as he proceeded to the front of the kitchen area and pulled out a stainless steel container of rice from the steamer. No gloves, no handwashing. First time here we had a pork egg roll and the Tokyo roll for an appetizer both were very good. My wife had the orange chicken with white rice. And said it was very good. I had the kung psi chicken. Second time here. Wrote the first review about a month ago. Did not disappoint. Wifey and I had dinner here again last night. It was hot and we looked at each other and said "Sushi". We went whole hog and got the Love Boat, which is sushi, shashimi and rolls. It was great. The fish was very fresh and tasty. The nice thing for us is that they don't use too much rice. Obviously rolls need rice, but not too much. The sushi was more fish than rice. It has an inviting atmosphere and the service is very attentive. I didn't really enjoy the calamari tempura. There was no seasoning plus I wasn't a fan of the batter. The crab ragoons on the other hand were better, but I wish they filled them just a tad more. The sesame chicken comes with white rice and honestly it was tasty. The sauce they use is on the sweeter side and the chicken was crispy. The Pangang curry was ok, but i wouldn't say it was out of this world. They do have a lot of options in their menu from Chinese cuisine to japanese to Thai so I definitely recommend coming as a group and ordering different dishes to try out. My husband and I stopped here for lunch yesterday. I had read so many good reviews I wanted to see for myself. We were not disappointed! The atmosphere is wonderful! Clean, very nicely decorated and the service was exceptional. The robot kitty that brings your food is a fun addition. The lunch menu is really nice. You get a LOT of food for a very reasonable price. We each had soup, wonton for me, egg drop for him. Very good! We also ordered an egg roll appetizer to try. The pork egg roll was very good, served cut diagonally with duck sauce for dipping. Crispy, packed with delicious filling and piping hot. 2 egg rolls . I ordered cashew chicken and steamed rice. It was very good. They did not skimp on the cashews, every bite had cashews! Very good flavor and for a lunch portion it was very large. My husband had shrimp kungpao. We couldn't believe the amount of really nice, plump and delicious shrimp that were in this lunch portion. He also had steamed rice. Neither of us finished our plates and we actually just had the leftovers today. We loved this restaurant! Our server was excellent! Attentive, friendly and sincerely committed to us having a good experience. We will definitely return. Since we have retired we have to watch our "restaurant funds" very carefully. This place definitely fits the bill for good quality food, good service and reasonable price. So happy to see this establishment here on the east side and hopeful it gets the support it will need to stay!
